install the SG cabs and then reinstall the rom, delete db file first in program files sonyericsson updater...

Did some exploration yesterday (found CABs, that are responsible foe LANG settings for SEUS). You can even try to create needed files if you don't have them.
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6512064&postcount=25
Or better copy CABs from SG ROM before updating to UK (if you haven't updated yet, or ask somebody with the same FW language version)
see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6512073&postcount=98

Check my post here. My guess is your previous upgrade set your operator in the device to a non-O2 value.
Yup
Followed your sintructions and update in progress, we'll see..
i used this and it let me update
I have uploaded the upgrades here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=12528

First of all you would get a error code 101, a country error code.
If you get past that. All your gprs/mms settings wil be set for O2, your startup screen and today screen will change to O2.
your OS will be 1.72 and your radio will be 1.17. and you'll get those apps that o2 has put in this update.
I would recommend to take another 1.72 / 1.17 update with your existing extended ROM or an extended rom from Orange. Extract the extended rom from this O2 update and use whatever CAB you want to make your own extended rom.
For manipulating extended rom do a search here, also check for ER2003EDIT.

WWE or UK upgrade?

hey i bought my jam in dubai and now using it india with no problem. i am going to UK soon and i was wondering if i need to upgrade my ROm with the UK version if i need to use to ohone there.. or can i stick to teh present WWE version
thx
Upgrade to the WWE lateest version if you are using an earlier rom version. If whilst in the uk you will be using a UK sim, might be good to get the operator ccab files.

I believe the one from KPN is generic. But don't have a KPN deviece to drop rom
i have a KPN device, tell me how i can make a working rom , and i will do it for you. It's the latest one, received this week.
You have to search at the wiki. "Dumping a ROM".
The Dumping proses is easy, but the re-building I don't know.
Mayb you can upload the dumped file and the guys here at forum re-build it.

debranded rom

some people on ebay are selling debranded tg01s i contacted one and he said that he has the factory tg01 rom but was unwilling to sell it but would install it on my phone if i sent it to him with £20, anyway my question is
1. does anyone here have the factory rom to completly debrand from orange uk?
2. if no to above do you think it would be easier to decrypt the debranded rom compared to the orange branded one as it may be worth getting it to dump here?
Its either a sim free model or he has just removed the bootup and shutdown screens. Personally If a debranded rom was out there it would already have been posted so save you £20 (and your phone)
thats what i was thinking o well

i contacted a guy from ebay about debranding & he said he had the original toshiba firmware that removed carrier branding....
not sure if this sounds plausable......
maybee its a tosh employee making a bit of extra cash i would
and that would explain why not willing to sell me the cab
or as BaconTrousers said just someone removing bootscreen ect.
i am tempted.
The only one debranded rom is Italian so it's possible that he sells TG01 with translation package installed...

Italian ROM is debranded and it's better, i read about some voice problem in orange ROM.
But I see WM 6.6 in youtube running in our device. There is a system to install a new ROM in TG01 but we don't know.
can't someone use the italian debranded rom and create a custom rom from that? maybe even translate it into english, would be great even a custom rom in italian would be good
I've used leaked O2 then official Orange UK now I'm using leaked Orange UK (little bit stripped down from obsolette apps) had also Italian rom but i'ts based on 21840 build (leaked roms are 21856) so there is annoying bug in Start menu that closes after opening any settings ...
I've made translation for Italian German and UK rom to Polish so i think it's possible to translate Italian rom to english but I don't have time and motivation to do this...
Hi, I'm from RO, speaking a little bit of italian, owning an orange locked tg01(one of the first devices in RO), so I've upgraded(finally, one week ago) to wm6.5 italian ROM,by curiosity, encountering no problems so far:good signal on phone calling in/out, installed srs wow v.4(again curiosity, personally no need of it), 3 gps apps(iGO8.3.2, garmin&Automapa6.1.0.876+gpsgate2.6), awesome start=everything working fine, no random soft reset, waiting for a (god[xda]blessed) custom ROM..
edit:Nico, maybe we'll find, somehow, a motivation for you: let us know!!!
Generally you'll need rgu files from dumped UK rom all files containing 409 (mui, dat html txt bin) cpp_englocalization.dll (I think it's the right file name or something like this) DotNetLocalization.dll(to translate powersave and some other settings) thread_style.css, wc_style.css, wmStyles.css(translation of sms app) and WiFiSettingsLocalizationRes.dll i think that's all sorry for little bit chaotic description but I really don't have much time to write this.

What is this 'Leaked Orange ROM' of which you speak?
Could it be leaked to the forums, so we can play?

I'm using an Orange TG01 and the only branding I can see is that the windows boot screen is an orange background. I don't see any software or links to tell me it's an orange branded rom.
I bought it off ebay, and was told it was using a factory unlocked rom.
could this be the ROM you're talking about? What should I look for?
Dodge0069,
Was it from an eBay user called i_sell_fones ? Here is his current listing.
Apart from being de-branded, it would have come with Spb MObile Shell pre-installed.
If so then that's the one. I don't personally know if a dump of the ROM would tell the experts anything, but be useful to at least know if this additional piece of material could potentially be available !

Guys there aren't debrandet rom. All rom is the same, Orange UK and France, Vomistar Spain, Italian don know and some more all of them branded. May be unlocked but branded. On the market you can't buy debranded because Toshiba still don't sell it.
Italian ROM is brand-free:as far as I've noticed in 2 weeks of using it.

Where do i see branding other than on the back of the phone, and the orange colored windows startup screen?
has it got any orange apps on it?
TV player or orange plus or orange maps?
if these apps aren't available from your start menu then they're aren't installed, BUT they may still have thier .cab files in the root of windows?
i partially debranded my phone by hard reset then before 1st set up, i deleted the install paths to cab files i didn't want to use in the registry... i wasn't brave enough with my deleting as there is still some orange stuff there !!!
cheers
There are no orange cabs
I have no installed orange apps
Also, i've hard reset, and it SPB Shell 3.0.1 is installed in the ROM.

[GUIDE]Easy way to brand/debrand or change firmware

I've used this methode alot on my X10 and i just tried it on the Arc and it still works great! To do this you'll need root and root explorer(or an other methode to change your build.prop) and a locked bootloader otherwise seus & pc companion wont work
I'm not responsible if you break your phone!
How to:
- Look up the customization number of the firmware you want to change to in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082368
- Open root explorer and go to \system and open the build.prop file in the text editor
- Change the following three lines:
ro.product.name=LT15i_XXXX-XXXX
ro.build.fingerprint=SEMC/LT15i_XXXX-XXXX/
ro.semc.version.cust=XXXX-XXXX
Change the XXXX-XXXX into the customization number of your desired firmware
- Press the menu button and save & exit
- Reboot
- If you are using pc companion on you computer go to:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Sony Ericsson\Update Engine\db\13740270\
And delete the blob_fs folder
If you re using SEUS on you computer go to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Sony Ericsson\Update Service\db\13740270\
And delete the blob_fs folder
- Shut down your phone
- Use SEUS for update or use the repair function in pc companion
- Reboot and enjoy your new firmware
Worked for me Changed SI from UK generic to UK O2 and after reboot, PC Companion picked up the 2.3.3 update straight away
The irony of course is that it's actually an O2 phone anyway which I'd debranded after I'd bought it by flashing UK generic firmware! Thankfully the O2 firmware actually seems to have less crap than the generic one...
An easy way to debrand it for me was to reinstall the software using SEUS. It wiped out all the Orange stuff that was on mine.

Also, does doing this erase your phone?
EDIT: Never mind the first question, didn't read through the posts in this topic.

Hi can anyone help a confused noob!
My Xperia Arc started life as the UK t-mobile branded one.
I used the helpful guides here to debrand it to the global .181 one.
However I keep trying to check from time to time for updated software to 2.3.3 and it says I have the latest one.
I can see a UK generic firmware released.
Now if I re-flash to that one - can I then update to 2.3.3?
I thought the purpose was that if I debranded to global .181 one - being global it would get the update more or less faster then other firmwares?
Sorry for the noobish questions - any help would really be appreciated!
Thanks

Hi thanks for that but you say I need "root and root explorer" - sorry where do I get these from? I presume my bootlocker is locked by default as I have not touched that part of the phone but do I need to root my phone as well? I haven't done that yet.
