Neural Network on Incredible? - Droid Incredible General

Hey all, just got my Incredible, and I really wish this beauty had the Droid's Neural Network wallpaper. Does anyone know of a a way to get it? The NexusMod wallpaper has the Droid background but it also has the Nexus-size pulses which makes it look horribly wrong and cheap. I loved the smaller pulses from my Droid... surely some of you miss it too, so let's fix it!!!
...any ideas?

Look on the market for nexus mod live wallpaper, the free version works great. The paid version lets you set custom colors.

Like I already said, the NexusMod LWP has the Nexus-sized pulses, which were larger and more square then the ones for the Droid. I prefer the Droids. Any other ideas?

I think its available on the one of the Kaiser Roms on this forum. You can try to remove it from there or possibly request the APK from a motorola droid forum somewhere else.

Well, that might work, I have plenty of access to Droid roms and such, but I would need root in order to install a new Live Wallpapers.apk into the system directory, otherwise the install will fail. If anyone has the know how to create a LWP, we could do it that way...

You could make a custom apk ya....but I don't see it happening...especially for free. Ever.
Good luck though.

I've installed live wallpaper apk's to my sd and installed them without root and they work and show up in the live wallpapers menu also.

It's not that they're live wallpaper .apks, it that they're THE LiveWallpapers.apk that makes them the problem. Livewallpapers.apk exists in the /system/app/ directory as a system file, so attempting to install it will try and overwrite the existing one, which the phone won't allow.

New Sense Launcher -Alchemy

Do you know that game from the market alchemy when you combine 2 things and you get a new one(ex:Fire + Water = Steam). While experimenting with various sense bar(launcher) themes I've discovered if you flash 2 different ones right after another(no reboot between them) you get a completely new one.
Cool isn't it?
I will try to extract the framework and put it on an update.zip. I love to see your opinions on this one

You got them
IMO it looks better than the Sense dock does.
What themes did you flash?
I discovered that D&D Rosie must be flashed also in the process it won't work without it. I don't know how to extract the framework from an installed rom. Any help would be nice.
looks pretty nice but can you tell me if its possible to have app draw button in the centre where the phone is and have phone on left and contacts on right?

I'l take a look into that but since we are talking about sense it is very hard to change the functions

To extract a framework-res.apk from an installed ROM you're going to have to use adb. I'm sure you know how to use adb since you're able to flash zips through recovery, but in case you don't know the exact commands i'll tell you what they are.
So you'll want to start up command prompt or whatever program you use to run commands through adb. Then start up adb through these commands:
1. So first put in the command, "cd\" and replace the letter "c" with whatever drive you put androidsdk on.
2. After that put in "cd AndroidSDK\tools\". If you put the filepaths differently on your computer from what I have, which is on the c drive, AndroidSDK folder, then the tools folder, feel free to change it to whatever you have it set up as. Keep in mind that it has to be exactly as what it says in your directory or it won't work. This means spelling and capitalization really counts here.
3. Next put in the command, "adb devices" and your device number should pop up if not then there is something wrong, but I'm assuming it'll pop up since you got your phone rooted.
4. Anyways after that you'll want to put in the remount command, "adb remount" which allows your phone's system apps or other lower level things to be written over and such.
5. Following that step you'll want to pull the apk with this command, excluding the quotation marks, "adb pull /system/framework/framework-res.apk". The exact filepath might be a little different on your phone but you can check easily with a file manager program that has access to those directories such as Root Explorer.
6. Finally after you've done all of that you should find the extracted framework-res.apk in the folder tools folder of the AndroidSDK folder.
If you already know the commands to do so then you can just disregard this. If not then I hope this helps you out.
I learned this already, thanks any way. What do you think about the theme?

Clock digits are too big and look quite disproportionate on the face of that screen and also relative to the clock hands
The launcher bar looks quite cheap and poor (no colour, gradient, gloss, blend of any kind)
Nice effort but definitely not for me, I think. The MT4G launcher mod is the best launcher mod at the moment I think. Maybe also take a look at the SenseHD themes/skins and you'll see some great polished looking launchers there which may help improve your concept...

Missing apps/live wallpapers from the D2 R2D2 rom dump?

So, I was watching an unboxing video of the D2 R2-D2 & noticed that an app "The Best of R2D2" was listed. I found it odd because, the MyDroidWorld ROM dump did not have this app. I did some more research and found that it's also missing 2 live wallpapers. So, to recap:
Missing Applications
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSubLQgsj_M
The Best of R2D2
A launcher for the exclusive video
Missing Live Wallpapers
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YFpeMVSN9qQ
3D Millennium Falcon
"Touch the screen and watch the
Millennium Falcon fly thru the
asteroid field"
The Empire Strikes Back
"Tap your screen to view the
greatest moments from Star Wars:
Episode V"
I don't mean for this to sound like I'm not grateful for the rom dump (I now get to have some of the exclusive stuff on my regular Droid 2), I just wanted to point out that some things were missing.
The original MDW/TBH R2D2 Rom release has the live wallpapers and the cheesy binocular app, as well as the standard wallpapers... I don't recall really looking for (or caring about) the "Best of" video or the lightsaber app before deleting all of it with the rest of the bloat anyway. And thankfully Motoboy removed the annoying C3PO on all of my contacts that do not have a pre-existing photo!
Sorry to necro an old thread but this one comes up in search results and it seems like it hasn't been answered yet. I figured I should answer it in case anyone comes along from a search engine.
In addition to the missing apps listed by the OP, there's also a 15th wallpaper, Han Solo in Carbonite, that seems to be missing from the leaks.
The leaked wallpapers all have the same naming scheme:
StarWarsESB_asteroids.apk
StarWarsESB_Binoculars.apk (this is the AT-AT Binoculars app)
StarWarsESB_lightspeed.apk
StarWarsESB_R2D2.apk
StarwarsESB_spaceslug.apk
And are present in /system/app. You can copy them out of there once you're rooted.
However, the two missing wallpapers are named differently, but still in /system/app:
Asteroids.apk (this is the 3D Millennium Falcon wallpaper)
swipe.apk (this is the The Empire Strikes Back live wallpaper, not Swype)
However, when I copy them out, I get a "App not installed" message. If I ever figure this out, I'll update my guide with instructions on fixing it (see link below).
The missing static wallpaper is with all the others in:
/system/app/BlurHome.apk/res/drawable-hdpi/
(APK's are just zip files, so you can open them up and see inside)
The Best of R2D2 App is just a video player which automatically loads the video located at:
/system/media/video/startupvideo_en.3gp
But the app is a normal user app, not a system app, so it's apk isn't located in /system/app like the rest. You can back it up using Titanium Backup or Astro File Manager or whatever.
I figured this stuff out while writing a guide about ripping all the R2-D2 theme elements from the stock R2-Droid 2 and getting them working again in a ROM on the R2-D2. Here's a link if you want to know more:

Rename Apps In App Draw

Hey everyone! Recently migrated phones from a Touch Pro 2 to this (like a lot of you probably did) and have spent the last couple days trying to get used to the Android OS. So far I've managed to pretty much set up everything how I want and I've rooted, over clocked, and flashed a custom rom onto it (Virtuous v1.0.2).
Coming over from Windows Mobile though, one gripe I am having is being able to rename the apps in the app draw. Since I only have about 6 apps on the homescreen, I'm aware it is possible to rename them using programs such as bettercut or super app manager, but unfortunately I've not yet found a way to rename the apps in the app draw. I like things to be neat and labelled nicely which not only look better, but makes it easier to find things.
Is this any way possible to do once you're rooted up? Ideally I don't want to turn off the Sense UI interface and switch to something else because I quite like the Sense widgets. It's baffling why this option of renaming applications is not possible/much simpler.
Thanks in advanced for any help
Not looking good is it.. Lol

Not sure if what you want is possible...
Sent from my T-Mobile G2
Of course its possible. Android is open source. Take the source for the launcher, make changes necessary to rename applications, compile, install.
Hint: Some other launchers that you may be able to download and install, even on a NON-ROOTED phone, may already have this ability.
Don't know if there is an easy way to do this in the stock Sense launcher.
Only way I know if you only want to do this to a few apps, and have the APK for those apps: There is an XDA user made app called APK Edit, which allows you to change the icon and name of the app. Just use this to edit the APK, then install the APK.

[Q] Stock Graphics and how to implement them

I'm building a few apps but wanted to see if there might be a way to grab existing graphics already in the OS. Like the plus sign in the Calendar or the microphone... I'd rather not have to include the same image in the system if it's already there, and the fact that a simple theme change would make the apps I'm working on change dynamically with the new look.
Thoughts?
if the files you want to use are defined in the resource directory and can be accessed via R.java from both xml and java then there is no way to get to the files.
if the files are defined as Assets then there is a possibility for you to access them.
you will need to know the exact file path to the file you want to access.
see
http://developer.android.com/reference/android/content/res/AssetManager.html
and
http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5493396/how-to-reference-android-assets-across-packages
Exactly what I was looking for, but not what I was wanting to hear. Know of any stock graphics I can use for my res/drawables? I'm not exactly the best artist in the world and would like my apps to look somewhat like they belong.

android.R.drawable is helpful but if you can't get it, just download the source. are you guys forgetting the android is completely open source? it might take you a while to find them, but they're all there.
I was sure there were some stock graphics available somewhere. Thanks SimonVT. Helped quite a bit with the ugly crayon jobs I created.

That is also an option, but using native resources will ensure that it fits in with the overall OS theme.

oh yeah, I guess you've got a point there. I wasn't thinking about people with sense, motoblur, etc. I've only ever had stock android phones. Well, I did have a nook color for a month or two, but I installed cyanogenmod the day I got it.
this might interest you aswell. its the android icon template pack.

you can read more about icon and user interface guidlines here

Yeah, that's some good information as well. Following the OS standard is what I would prefer over trying to make my own or grabbing from other installed apps. It makes for the apps/widgets to flow much better in overall design theory.

[Q] How To Get Rid Of These Horrible White Backgrounds!

This is on a rooted Verizon S5 SM-G900V with Alliance ROM 4.4.2. Is there any way to invert the background and text without inverting images? Especially in Chrome, but it would be nice for the whole phone. White lettering on a black background is much easier to read.
I'm seeing screenshots online of Alliance that are nice and dark (I think it's called Black Glass?), including the phone dialer. How do I get the whole android theme dark.
Same thing with other apps. There's a few local TV news apps that have a bright white background that I wish I could customize to a dark theme. The Samsung Music Player is bright white as well. Anyway to make these dark in Alliance?
The problem I've noticed with third-party dialer apps is that they let you type the phone number, but when you hit the phone button to place the call, it opens up the Android dialer with the bright white background. Right back to square zero. Basically, I'm just trying to figure out how to get that nice black look like I'm seeing on some of the alliance ROM screenshots.
Thanks.

The app on 4.4 you needed to theme was called InCall.apk there is an app on 5.0 call LegacyInCallUI.apk so would amuse that its this one but if you are running a custom rom then it may have the original InCall app, if you look is System\app or System\Priv-app folder (most likely the priv-app folder teh one you need will be in there.
Problem at the moment is that apktool has a problem with Samsung apk's and compiling them, its not so much apk tool as more likely something Samsung have added in their security to prevent apktool working as it should, so you can decompile apps fine if the app does compile then you can use the .png files, xml files but the resources arsc most likely will cause the app to crash. Also they have use .pkm files which you can't see like you can with .png files so you need specific software to look at them, again Samsung trying to prevent theming of stock apps.
Hmmm. Well, that's all a bit over my head. So, is there not an easy way to install an app or change a setting somewhere? I'm not sure what to actually to click on with all those files you mentioned. I find searching for files in Android to be confusing and nothing like a Windows PC with the usual file directory locations. Like, WHERE is the C:\ drive on the phone?

The apps are in the system folder called
system\app
system\priv-app
system\framework
But if you have never done theming before then don't even try you would need to start with simple things and learn what to do and what not to do.
Can't help with the app question as I have no idea, maybe there is something that someone else can answer that for you.
I am looking at theming these form myself but I don't have the time at the moment, I don't share them any more though as there are far too many ungrateful people around these days.
