Few questions about stock Dialer and Keyboard - Nexus One General

My TMO Nexus One should be here Tuesday. I've played around with various android versions on my HTC Pure. My neighbor/friend has the N1 and 2 things I think I am concerned about is the Dialer and Keyboard.
The HTC Dialer and Keyboard is really nice. Can I just install them as packages vs having to flash the whole rom? Being a WM chef I know the Keyboard and Dialer can be complicated packages to move from device to device... but figured I'd research it before hand.
All my searching points to its not out yet... but they were from like Feb. Any update?

The HTC keyboard can just be added by installing an app. And a better speed dialpad called dial one is free in the market.

Dialer one is a kick ass dialer and installs and uninstalls like any other app. Swype would be my choice of keyboard. Check the thread down in apps for the latest download links.

yea I found Dial One. Seems like a good alternative. I don't like Swype. I used to cook it in my roms for a while there but found the HTC keyboard has a better dictionary.
I can probably get by with Dial One and the HTC keyboard app. Thanks!

Wing Keyboard

The keyboard (virtual) on my Wing is the one that I use and like. I want the 4 rows of keys like a normal keyboard. Meaning, 123.... top row, then qwerty next 3 rows. I don't like the ones that are ABC or 123. I also like the way my words are saved and stored for quick recognition. Where is this keyboard located in the Wing? I would like to copy it and the Dictionary to another phone.
I have tried all the other keyboards such as SPB, Rescoe, Interkey, etc., and do not like them.
Thank you!
I dont know how or where to get the stock htc keyboard you are looking for but I did want to make a recomendation, have you tried "BJK HTC EzInput Full Keyboard?" if i am not mistaken its what the latest htc models are rolling out with. Search this forum for it and give it a try all you do is download and install the cab for the keyboard and then the language cab and your set to go.

Anyways to improve virtual keyboard?

Hello.
I have always thought that virtual keyboard on Android was too slow/sluggish. I have tried keyboard from stock 1.5, HERO & 1.6. They all feel same. slow/sluggish.
I was reading this blog...
http://ignorethecode.net/blog/2009/08/07/virtual-keyboards-on-iphone-and-android/
and it is so true.
Now I am wondering if there is any fix? solution? to get it perform better with faster responsiveness?
Thank you.
use "better keyboard" from the market. you won't be disappointed. plus all the skins to choose from is a big plus.
I thought better keyboard was just a skinning ?
But is it actually a different keyboard?
Better Keyboard is a different keyboard app, just like HTC is different. There are a lot of skins available for Better Keyboard app.
There is a free keyboard called softkeyboard that you can try as well.

Just lost your chance at a free touchpal download, but it is my favorite by far.

Swype 2.0 Problems

Hello,
I installed Swype 2.0 for WVGA screens on my HD2
and also installed the 'Baly23 Swype HTC-Like Skin'
however I cannot seem to get the app to function,
frankly I don't even know what to do after installation.
Can anyone help?
Thanks
start a new message or note or something,I guess the normal keyboard shows up? press the arrow just to the right of the small keyboard icon bottom center below the keyboard, choose swype.now start using it.
I didn't install any skin, i'm just using the one that was posted yesterday from the tmobile hd2 and it works perfectly. is the skin that important to you? I would say just use it without the skin

do you have a link to that post? can not seem to find it
I can't get the skin to work either lol, not that bothered though but I do agree that the latest build of Swype from the T-mobile ROM, works very well and it's clearly optimised for the HD2, unlike the one from the Omnia II.
I'd post a link but I fear Swype is going to be categorised as a 'Grey Area' just like Microsoft Voice Command.
ok i now realise hte mistake i was making lol, i was expecting it to be with the predictive text or abc functions on the left of the keyboard, the picture shows up however when i click the swype icon a error appears regarding a missing 'EnglishUS language' which i have no clue about, any ideas?
thanks

HTC HD2 keyboard cab?

hello, First and foremost, I would say that I have searched and searched but I have not found anything. I might not have searched well enough, but I have tried at least!
I want the htc hd 2 keyboard on my htc hd. Is there a cab file with the new keyboard all the chef uses on the new ROMs? if you understand. i want the original, not a UI that look like the new keyboard.
I'm also looking for the HD2 keyboard for Blackstone.
Keep looking and priv message me I you find it!
i do not know the hd2 keyboard, but if you are interested i am using the resco keyboard, i have used many keyboards but none like the resco. the only downside is that it is not free, but at least they have a 30 day trial version.
yeah, have heard about Resco, but i want the original hd2 keyboard, no 3.parts.
anyway thanks for trying

[Q] Keyboard like Swype for GENE

Is there any swype keyboard type some keyboard application for gene?!
the swype keyboard isn't a free application...its only out for OEMs as far as i've heard...
people had ported the keyboard that came out with a few wvga builds such as the one for the hTC HD2 but that project was shut down after swype contacted XDA and asked them to close the thread as it was sorta wrong to release it as a .CAB file...
but if you search around the net you should be able to find a QVGA builds out there...
otherwise you still have options like EZInput, Fingerkeyboard, TouchPal, or the Resco Keyboard available to you...
hope this helps...
