I'm new to Android apps - Desire Themes and Apps

Where are the best sites to get them from?

@ android market

Appbrain.com has the apps listed from the marketplace and lets you install through the PC (to a degree anyway, it queues them for download on their app).

Screenshot app for unrooted Desire (?)

Hi guys!
Is there an app to take screenshot images and save them in the storage card directly as camera does. I don't want to root my device just for this purpose, at least not before the official froyo upgrade. Thx

Try shootme, from the market.

Shoot Me requires root. You can use the Android SDK.

Android SDK is the only way if you dont have root AFAIK
well.. where to find android sdk? it is not available on the market. Thanks for replies..

It's not a phone app, it's a desktop development environment for Android:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
Available for Windows/Mac/Linux
this link tells you how to take screenshots using the SDK

No app does this yet... Site Shot gets the closest with a functional, albeit limited, workaround. Some other apps like Gensoid allow them to take screenshots too.
So the method suggested above is what works.

Thanks mates..
Site shot seemed only for web browser pages, didnt try anything else with it though. Android sdk seems the only way to do that, so far. Actually i'd thought an app similar to wm app "shake n save" could be found for android too.

There is a game called farm towers. In that game it allows you to take screen shots. On my cdma htc desire I was able to take screen shots while playing the game. It force closed but it saved the screen shot
andriod commander is fab .. for screen shots
I looked on the market and didn't see anything called that at all. Do you have the link?

[Q] A7 and Quicken Finance

I have Quicken Deluxe financial program on my desktop and I wonder if there is a similar program that I could put on my A7 that would allow me to track my bank accounts (savings, checking and MM) and few securites?
There are plenty on the market, do you have the android market on your A7?

I see Getjapr but not Android Market.
Is it a program that I have to install (it it free)?
Or can I just visit it via the browser (on this A7) and download a Finance app from there?
I do not use a lot of apps and that is why I did not want to have too many app download programs on this A7. I didn't want to use up too much free storage memory, etc.
Is there a finance app that is similar to Quicken that managers bank accounts and a few securities?
If you want the android app market you can flash dexter mod 1.41 in the development section
You can also search through the android app & games on xda and download the .apk and run it (but you will get no updates to the app without android market)
You can search the android market via desktop and find the app and search it on google and download the app apk to the elocity a7

[Q] Google+ for Legend

Hi All
Does anyone got Google+ on your Legends? Since I don't see it at Android Market and wonder is it device or country/operator restriction...
I have it, and I've reinstalled it while in three different countries. Vietnam's, Japan's, and Canada's Android Markets all have it.
If you have root, use MarketEnabler (from the Market) to fake an American carrier and download the app.
Otherwise look in the General forums for an .apk. ;-)
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
I did not have any problems downloading it from the Market...
Here you go this apk for Google+.
Thanks everybody but I really wonder why on earth its restricted from the Market and who is the guy (in Google or operator) who suppose to click "magic button"?
It sounds absolutely ridiculous since I can use it through browser but not native Google app from Android phone.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App
Yes,i have g+ (from the market) and i live in germany
Sent from my Legend using XDA App
I can't download it from my market unless I use market enabler.
Sent from my HTC Legend using XDA App

I downloaded Google+ when I was in Singapore though. The Market in SG seems to carry this. Can't find it while I tried to search on the MY Market.
Cheerios.

How to get some free apps from GPlay without root.

Have you ever wanted to get an awesome free app from Google Play on the HDX but you just don't have root? Well that is actually easier than you might think at first. I hope this will be useful, personally I use this trick a lot.
1.) Go to the google play store on the web and choose a free app (it only works with free apps)
2.) copy the URL and paste it in the search bar of the following website:
apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/
3.) click generate download link.
4.) choose which app you want to download the apk with.
5.) then click open file, and then hit install.
6.) Play the game!
I use this trick to download stuff that isn't on the Amazon market but is free, like the Buzz launcher and other games. I hope this helped someone, and thanks.
I think most of the xda users will know how to do similar things, but maybe there is a new guy out there who doesn't. like me half a year ago!
Good to know... I've been able to use 3rd party stores for everything I've needed so far

Cool, thanks man.Never thought of that, but I never had an advanced phone- no need. For my uses a nokia brick is good enough.
Or just sideload 1mobile market. no root needed for it to work just for the apps it cna download that need root just like normal playstore it has all the free apps that google play does. I assume its similar to those apk downloaders out there but just does it on the device and in an interface that works well and even allows searching and the like.
