Battery Replacement - EVO 4G General

Though it is not listed at the moment. There was a listing on ebay for an HTC EVO battery that seemed to be the HTC HD2 battery. Is it going to be the same battery? I understand that the battery in the HTC Incredible is the same size as the HD2 battery but is 1300mAh whereas the HD2 is 1500mAh. Will the HD2 Battery be the exact same battery the EVO uses? I would especially be interested in 1 or 2 increased mAh batteries. I always have chargers with me, but I find with spare batteries I worry less.

1350 mAh batteries from China

I bought one off ebay for 9 USD. I fully charged the thing turned on the phone, and no surprise tBattery showed it as only 1230 mAh battery. If you want a cheap, as in doesn't fit well in your HD2, replacement get one of them, but do not expect it to be a higher capacity battery.

Test it with a volt meter anyways. WM battery meter sucks and it might not be giving you the right info as it isn't an original battery.

Battery on the Evo

Just spoke with a Sprint rep at a local corporate store. Battery will be a 1500mAh battery, but he confirms that there will be an extended battery that will be able to fit without need for a change to the stock battery door.

Any word on the pricing and availability of this battery?
Nothing from the rep. Basically responded with "I don't know much about battery life, but there will be a better battery after release."
that would be awesome if the extended battery doesnt increase the size of the phone
im willing to bet its the same 1800 mah lithium polymer battery that is sold for the hero and TP2, among other phones

Which probably means that we will be able to get the 2000mAh aftermarket batteries that are available for the Hero. That aftermarket battery on the Hero has been amazing (so much better than the stock battery).

Some people didn't agree as so, but I absolutely love the 2000mAh battery I bought for my Hero. It took me from 3/4 of a day of use to a full day-day and a half of use.
Anyone know how long the battery will last on talk time and stand by? or what's the average drain?
Apparently, the battery for the hero will work on the EVO. From what I'm hearing, this is the biggest extended battery without the need for a battery door replacement due to size.

New HTC Batteries

Since HTC refreshed its product line we have seen the new 1450mAh batteries coming out in the market. Does that mean we can expect a bigger and powerful battery from HTC that supports the DHD ?
That would be great, does anybody know?
Look at eBay there is loads of sellers who selling 1600mA batteries for DHD.
I hope they're of the same unibody design so we have a chance to use it on Dhd, seriously a bit ridiculous that only dhd has to be released with such a pathetic battery -.- even galaxy S2 has a 1600 mAh battery!

There have been many comments in the DHD forums on these cheap ebay batteries.
At best, they don't actually have the capacity stated (ie a 1600mA battery will not last as long as a genuine HTC battery)
At worst, some of these cheap batteries could overheat, rupture or even explode whilst charging. Goodbye DHD.
So try them at your own risk....

Even the reviews on Amazon suggest they don't last longer than the original one...

Waiting on original HTC made batteries for the DHD.
Anyone using a 1600 from ebay ?
Yes i am using a 1600mAh battery from ebay.
No issue so far.
You could use currenwidget to find out about the battery and its capacity.
I have a charger for battery packs that has that function (capacity checking) but its only for Nimh unfortunatly.
Stock battery lasts a day using a decent ROM so why risk your phone on a dodge ebay special?

Extended Battery.

Hi all.
Let's share our experience about batteries, this is more about hardware than software side. Where is better to buy quality replacement batteries and etc...
I'm using two normal capacity 1350 mAh replacement batteries on my HD2 Nexus android. Both of them I bought on ebay quite long time ago and... what can I say, they performing ok, maybe slightly worse that was original one (lost). Recently I bought extended battery on ebay, twice thick and twice heavier than original one with back cover, 2400 mAh. Strange thing, it lasts about the same (sometimes I think even less) as original capacity ones. Peope say do calibration... This is what I'm going to do tonight, but strange, these normal capacity ones have not done any calibrations and last well. The question, why double capacity one does'n last any longer???
I will update you about changes after calibration.
Because of the calibration it just charges it till the normal capacity battery would be full, and but since this is a extended capacity battery it will need to be calibrated so that it knows that it can be charged further.
But, that's my theory. just try it out and see for yourself.

Extended batteries will drain down to 15% then should stay there for a while. And even if the phone shuts down due to drainage all you have to do is remove the battery, put it back in and you're back to around 40%.
I use 2 extended ones from ebay and they last at least 1.5-1.75 longer than the skinny original htc one.
Try to wipe battery statistics in advanced option in CWR Recovery

Oversized Battery! Opinion between these two

has anyone tried one of these batteries? They last much longer in the original?

There's plenty info on batteries in the Desire HD Accessories subforum.

High capacity rofl
its not possible to have the same psysical size of the original battery with much more mAh in it, except if its not lithium and its some weird nano-new-technology battery ..then I can believe it because the battery would cost 200$
Neither, get a cheap OEM one (HTC Surround has the same battery!), and make sure it's genuine.
