Nexus One ROM in Desire - Desire Themes and Apps

Hi guys,
I bought a Desire a week ago. I love Android but I dont like HTC Sense at all. Specially HTC's apps. I have something what I dont want to have, as a Peep, Weather or mainly Dialer, Contacts and Calendar.
I was looking for default apps on clear Android and I didnt find them. Cos HTC's apps are not as fast as the rest of system. I like the idea of simplicity which Android represents.
So, is there some way hot to get Nexus One ROM into Desire? Is that possible, or it's question of time only? Or may you give me a hint where I can find the default apps?
Thanks a lot for answer and sorry for my english.

Question regarding ROM's

I am currently using Hero Plus that has some of the HTC stuff included in the ROM but is not using sense as homescreen.
Been looking at some stuff regarding 2.1 ROM's
So what I am looking at is a lightweigh 2.1 ROM with HTC Exchange support but without Sense!
Anyone knows about anything like this?
take a look at "vanillian"
Ah! I was looking at that one but couldn't really confirm that it was running the HTC Exchange email app
Well I don't use that rom, but I think it does.
Although it may not be currently working but should be fixed in the next release.
Ask in the thread for that rom you will get a better answer.
I'll probably just try it out doing a Nandroid backup of mine and testing that one
Thanx for the help!

Can we get HTC Widgets on Vibrant?

Hey I just got my Vibrant and love it but they excluded almost all the standard Android Widgets. Is there any way to get those or even better HTC widgets Like Clock, Calender, Music, RSS News, anything? And yes I'm rooted and ready to go.
The simple answer is no. The complicated answer is you can get a lot of widgets that look/work just like the HTC ones.
Here is a similar topic on this issue. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=708127&highlight=beautiful+widget
P.S. Without doing all the work for you I will say "Pure" calendar is 10x better than the HTC one.
I am pretty sure someone will find a way to put Sense on it.
i really hope so =)

Noob looking for advice

Im fairly new to the ROMS and phone hacking scene, but its been a week or so and its rather fun. I have an HTC Incredible running Skyraider 3.3.3and its the only one that works with everything I like to do (so far). As far as the clock goes, I would contact the maker of the ROM and ask him about it. I'm sure he'll have an answer for you.
Your probably not running the sense version of skyraider. Just download flipclock from the market its similar.

HTC Sense on CyanogenMod7?

I've been doing searches in all the Desire Z forums and I couldn't find anything about installing HTC sense and all its goodies on CM7. Is it possible? I just got my Desire Z today so I'm still making attempts at learning the ins and outs of android.
EDIT: doing some extra searching off XDA, it seems that because of HTC's extensive work on the rom itself, it will not work with CM. I guess I'll have to pick and choose... that would lead to me wondering what alternative can I get to get as much flexibility as CM and still have sense....

HTC Sense is closedsource while CyanogenMod is based on ASOP.

What parts of sense were you wanting. There lots of apps you can use that can give you a sense look. If you want sense style widgets download launcher pro plus. You can theme the dock bar to look like the sense dock.
Use beautiful widgets to get the sense clock and weather, including the weather animations when you unlock the phone.
Have a look in the general android themes section for a theme that has just been released for the built in CM7 theme chooser and it will make you notifaction bar look like sense.
Hope this helps

Ok, i'll look into all of that. I finally took the leap from my old touchpro to android, so im starting from scratch and back in square newbie.
The main thing that i wanted was the ability to link contacts to facebook as well a "favorites" that works like HTCs widgets. Im also still looking for a voice command app that does not access the internet so that it will work purely off my contact list. I loved the winmo voice command as to how it structured the responses and im looking for something like that
Launcher pro plus has the ense style widgets,.... and there is an app to run from pc that syncs contacts with facebook. Google "android facebook contact sync", if you dont have any luck finding it, drop me a pm, i'll have a butchers for you tonight or tomorrow when i can.

I'll check it out. Now I just have to find a way to transfer contacts and sms/mms from winmo to android
Heya, did a quick search on market and couldn't find the app to sync contacts with facebook...

Sense Alternatives

I don't know if ICS or JB with Sense will ever come to the DHD. But the reason I have never stuck with another ROM other than Android Revolution HD is because I end up missing Sense.
When people do change to a non-Sense ROM (haha, nonsense), what are you using for:
Friendstream alternative. With FS, I get both my twitter and FB feeds in one convenient widget. And I like how when a tweet has a link, if I click on the tweet, I can read the tweet and link all within FS. I don't get that with Android Pro Widget or Launcher Pro widget.
Calendar. The HTC calendar is so clean looking. I like the monthly view on a whole screen.
SMS. I know there are alternatives but many look so cartoony, not the clean interface of the HTC version.
But probably Friendstream is the big one. What are people doing?
Thanks.

DHD will be getting official ICS before the end of August
Good to see you're ditching Sense (less eyecandy: more RAM free & better performance), not sure if we have something like FS, maybe rip it from a sense ROM and install it?
Sent from my Desire HD using Swype beta for Android!
How to get a Friendstream apk? Would that install on any rooted phone?
Also, I forgot to mention a key app. Mail. The mail interface on Sense is nice and clean. On some of these other apps, like K-9, it's not as nice looking. Also, I need features like auto-BCC all emails. And what I like about Sense Mail is I have two mail accounts, one Yahoo, one POP, and both homescreen icons actually tell me how many new mails there are. What's the mail app everyone is using when they switch away from Sense?

You can't. FS requires a Sense framework to run at all. If it were that easy, someone would've done it already.

I know what you mean about Sense. I have tried as well and always came back to Sense..
A replacement for Friendstream.. Here are a couple:
- Seesmic (Facebook and Twitter)
- Multipost ( but I think Facebook doesn't work)
- HootSuite
- Tweetdeck

Very clean, iOS looking style, and very fast etc, great mail

Yup - FS is hard to do without. However... check out APW widgets. The pro version has a friendstream widget which is a perfect replacement. The non-pro you have to have separate twitter and facebook. The calendar widget is also the best sense replacement I have found.
I'd stick with sense, but have a DZ so sense eats up too much RAM.
What I miss most in non-Sense roms is actually the camera. I tried and bought several other camera apps (360 camera, Zoom FX), but none seem as fast or polished as the Sense camera app. Especially with regard to focussing. It autofocusses on faces or otherwise just in the center, but you can always overrule it with tap-to-focus. I haven't found this in any other camera (yet?)
perhaps its just that I have become accustomed to that camera app.
for me, that is the only app that keeps dragging me back to sense roms.

Try using the MIUI camera app

Never ever Sense
everything else is better than sense.
but the best is an stock android so like google thought it should be.
I like some things about sense and have had my days where I missed it a little. But IMO after I used jelly bean its pure Google for me from now on. Thanks for the alternatives!

*Sigh* yes it is unique.... at least.
Did i miss it the last 18 months? .... This gonna be a hard decissi..... Nope!
Miui has nice style and good cam, too and runs like a kitten on crack :cyclops:
Even though,in my opinion, Miui is no competition to latest ics/jellybean vanilla feeling.
I like Sense for Calendar, Mail, and (mosttly) intuitive dialler. Maybe except mail, no replacements. Therefore, Sense ROMs.
Every time I try switching I keep coming back. The simple Email icons for my two email addresses, it shows the number of NEW messages. I tried Kaiten Mail and the ugly mail icon (looks like a fire hydrant), shows UNREAD messages. The problem with Unread messages is that for my POP email address, I read on my computer, or my phone. So my POP email on my phone is basically all Unread. So the icon shows me 99 Unread all the time. Useless. I just want to see NEW messages, and that's what my simple Sense 3.5 does. Sense is just better.
For Friendstream, if I click a tweet with a link to an article, the article opens up in Friendstream. With other apps like Android Pro Widgets, you have to click the link to the article and open up your browser. Grrrrrr.
