2 minor issues with HD MINI: - HD Mini General

as some of you may know, i received my HD MINI in italian language....
thanks to some help from this forum, ive been able to install BSB tweaks and now about 25% of my phone is in english..
im wondering if any of you can tell me WHERE in my phone i can set the settings for the below problems, as most of my menus are still written in italian:
1. when i set an alarm, the alarm will only ring ONCE (approx. 5 seconds), it's like the alarm ringtone sound file doesnt loop
2. i dont hear any sounds when i receive an incoming SMS message, my phone just flashes the green LED in the top corner. The phone isnt on silent mode though, because regular calls ring

hi htc_999.
the way i managed to change mine was to go to settings, then press menu and go to all settings. next (at the top) press notifications, then change the event to "message - new message" and you should be able to tick "play sound"
hope that helps

my phone is in italian, and i cannot understand all the menus fully, but im pretty sure i checked the box for sound under the subsection of "nuovo messagio" but still doesnt work

Mine is Italian as well, so the path is:
Impostazioni / Toni e display / Suoni di Notifica
The option Nuovo messagio must be in Att, and if you press there, you can select the sound you want. Also the setting Vibrazione must be either in off or att, but never in Solo.
Then check that the volume is not down or too low (with the volume rocker).
If all above is ok, it should work.

Maybe its related to similar problems i had in the past after changing the language?
Take a look at: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583878
Gr,

Its a HD2 topic but i worked for my Touch HD, hopefully it works for you as well.

mini HD same problems.
Well i got the mini HD in Greek language which is my language so there is no way i get messed up in the menus.
I observed the same issue with the alarm and after a lot of tries i observed that the alarm fails due to sleeping mode of the phone. The 30 sec on for display strangles the alarm ,which is working ok if the phone is connected to external power with an option of display sleeping mode longer than that with no connected to external power.
In addition to this the second issue you talk about is probably born from the same point as the sms alert works just fine when the phone is on but nothing sounds when the phone is in sleeping mode.
I have tried all in the settings but nothing .
Probably its a software problem that htc should know and fix it.
By the way have you observed a diminuated signal of your phone provider? The signal to me seems as looping from one line to four more constantly on one in an area that all the family phones get the most power signal constantly.
I have just sent an email to htc.If i got any answer i will let you know.

Solved the issues
It seems i found a way to solve the issues described above as my thought about the sleeping mode problem seems to be right.
Well a the power setting you have to choose the potion for backlight page control. Then uncheck the auto reglation of display light and let a value of 80% for both options battery and external power. Then check back the auto reglation for the back light . now you have to increase the time values using battery for decreasing light on display at 2min and turn off at 5min. use the same values for eternal power also
Then using path settings ,menu right bottom, option for more, sound and notifications, notifications , you access the page where rolling down the happening bar you get the option for new message. After some tries i can say that not all the tones are working properly.for example dont use Alarm-VeryHigh .It wont work. Try the tone Notify and check the playing option and the display message option.
With these settings the alarm should work for 2 minutes loopig normaly and the sms will sound when it comes.
Try it sending a message to yourself turning off the display by the top power button immediately after you send the message.
Hope I helped.I mstill waiting an answer to the email i sent to htc.Hope thet resolve the issues with an upgraded rom as it seems its a software problem.
By the way the clarifing sound issue you may have can be solved with the update given by htc to the official site .Dont forget to set a volume value to 80%.

All issues resolved
Hi, as i ve written before i communicated with htc ,they proposed to go to service. Afterall i had the opportunity to talk with the technician of htc who explained me how the issues would be resolved after a software upgrade.
So they did the job , upgrated my device and now works great.
One thing i am courious about is that after i got the device back i checked the official site and there is nothing there as upgrade. So by now if you have the same issues you have to go to htc service.

thanks mihan.....
i will save the trouble and wait for a update patch

The update is available now

Red Flashing Light after Notification

Have been trying to search for this topic here for a while. The red flashing light on the XDA2 wont turn back to yellow when a notification is dismissed or snoozed. The only way i can get it to return to normal status is if i receive an SMS, or i go to Sounds and Notifications. What's up with that? and how do i fix it?
~ishtangli
have you tried setting the time limit of the flashing red light? start/settings/sounds&notifications/notifications. select an event ( eg: inbox New SMS message) uncheck the flash light box. that should solve your problem.
'been experiencing the same problem intermittently. Especially when some of my reminder went off or when I receive an SMS. What I usually do is perform a soft-reset, at least once a day. =)
I cant really disable the flash coz i need to be notified of events, meetings, etc. Its weird coz if i force an alarm (say, 2 mins from current time), alarm goes off, i dismiss it, works red flash goes away. Works without a hitch. But if its an event that's been scheduled for, say, a day or so... red flash whole day unless i go to sounds and notifications.
~ishtangli
I've also had this problem on occasion. Fortunately there is a less harsh solution than a soft-reset...
Use Start | Settings | Sounds & Notifications | Notifications tab, then drop down the Event combo box and select any other event than the first and tap OK.
This procedure doesn't actually change any of your settings but does seem to reset the light.
thanks... I'll remember this one once that glitch happens again... =)
This is exactly what I do. Was hoping there's already a registry solution or patch out. Kinda irritating if you have lots of meetings in a day.

There is no need to do anything else after selecting Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications. Just tap OK immediately after that and the red blinking light will go away.
This problem only started occurring when I updated the ROM to 1.60. The previous ROM didn't have this problem.
On occasions l have that just going into start/settings/sounds & notifications, and then hitting ok, sometimes does not kill the light. Seems to depend on the kind of event that triggered the alarm in the first place.... Either way, just hiting ok or going the extra step as suggested earlier in the thread seems to deal with it.
bug.
the RED flash notification light is another bug in the 1.60 and 1.66 WWE ROM, yes SETTINGS-NOTIFICATIONS-OK seems to solve the problem and there is no registry hack. Though, IT IS BETTER to soft reset your device once in a while to REFRESH the memory, to avoid damaging the tiny soft reset button, install a soft reset program and just tap to SOFT RESET.
As presented by T3 Magazine, The XDA 2 is the smartest PDA, but its not perfect, though I STILL LOVE MY XDA 2.
RED flash notification bug fixed in 1.72?

Does this mean that the problem is gone in 1.72WWE ?
I've not done the upgrade yet because 1.66 has been very stable (for me) but this might just be the reason I've been waiting for ...
Well I'm under 1.72 WWE and I have the same problem but ever since I insstalled a Socket WiFi card. The driver installs a new Notification Event called WIFIICON and every time I insert the WiFi card and the system detects a hotspot the notification light (red) will continue to blink forever. If I go to notifications and select, say 5 minutes, it will continue forever, if I disable it, it will disable until the next WiFi session and then have to repeat procedure all over again... :?
It does not bother me much, but since a WiFi session by itself consumes lots of battery the last thing in my mind is having another power consuming feature turned on.

You missed a crucial step. You should go to Start -> Settings -> Sounds & Notifications -> Notifications and after pressing the OK button, the red blinking light will go away. Don't forget to select the Notifications tab. It works in my unit every time.
After picking up on this thread, I have been monitoring the 'clear' function more closely and up to now, touch wood, being in notifications and just hitting ok, seems to be doung the trick. I am pretty sure I have tried the same thing in the past and, on occa ion, it has not worked without changing an event. But my memory may be playing tricks with me I'll continue to monitor and see if any come up...hopefully not

Not on my device. It is necessary to select a different notification for the screen to 'realise' a change has occurred and kill the light.

I'm having a problem similar to yours, mine wont vibrate at all in any way, and i cant figure out why.
Not uncommon, all you need is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=299163
remember to search folks
Mike
I had the same problem where my tytn stopped vibrating one day. I checked the notification settings and for some reason the vibrating option on all my notifications was turned off.
Last program I installed was the opera mobile 9.5 beta browser. Not sure if anyone else had this problem after installing the browser.

light up when recieve text?

Hi, site looks great, need to explore more, but reason i am here at mo is i'm trying to find out if there is a way to let the phone light up when a text is received? like a conventional phone/ this is my first wondows mobile / pocket pc thing, so its taking some time getting used to it
At moment though i have to press the power button to check if any texts, and this will be using power as pressing it when no texts are in (phone is silent at work)
IS this poss to achieve? either through settings, or a app?
You can use HD Tweak (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=452505) to turn on a feature that causes your phone to turn on when you receive a text.
You can also go to the Sounds and Notifications setting in your phone and check the box that will cause your little LED light on the power button to keep flashing until you check your message.
thanks for the help, will look into that
I did that and works great (thanks to HD Tweak) but I found out why they decided to not turn on the screen by default... whenever I receive a SMS and the phone is on my pocket, I start making calls by mistake...

Go to "Settings, Buttons"
Either select "Lock Device" or "Always display Quick list"
Long press on the end call key will then Lock all input so even if the phone does wake, it wont respond unless unlocked.
Locked phone is essential if you have a Bluetooth car or Earpiece as the phone will wake everytime on connect/disconnect also.

SMS notifications while in standby (findings)

So I've got the problem where when my phone is off/standby I don't get a notification or alert until I turn the phone on at which point it plays the standard alert and vibrate (this is of course useless).
Playing around and I noticed that this problem goes away when I uncheck the setting 'Turn device off after X mins'.
Now, at first I assume that there were 3 modes on the HD (and presumably on all htc phones) and they are: Power off, standby, on. Those states seem self explanitory. Give that assumption, I always thought that there was just a problem with the sms program doing a notification.
With this new solution, ie, disabling auto turn off, all my text messages come through with a notification within 6 seconds of sending it on the other end. But I played around with it some more. Some of you may know of a program called psshutxp. This program can do three things: display off, turn off, and reset. Now I never used this turn off feature before because I assumed it just turned the phone off. I activated this function with the auto turn off setting disabled (the phone doesn't auto turn off) and end up not receiving messages (exactly like the original problem).
What I've concluded then is that the device actually has 4 states: Power off, standby, display off, on. Now if you read the whole thing you may have noticed that I'm implying the solution is to disable auto off and thus leave the device in what would appear to be 'display off' mode. It works, certainly, but I'm starting to think that battery life is going to suffer immensely. (I'm going to test this tonight)
It seems we're back to square one, but wth a little, and albiet minor conclusion: SMS messages should wake the device but leave the screen off. There have been some intermediate solutions that say to change the 'disable device wake on sms' registry from 1 to 0 or use HD tweak to achieve a similar effect then combine this change with a good screen locker.
My question then is, is it possible to wake the device but leave the screen off via registry or via resident program?
Investigating the resident program option some more, is it possible to run compact framework programs while the device is in standby?
Finally, I know that the Touch Diamond 2 had a recent hotfix for this exact issue. Considering the similarities between the two devices, is it possible to port a solution? I'm going to see if I can try it out myself (but I'm not as experienced at platform modifications as I am in software development). I also noticed that a lot of Diamond 2 users still report the problem wasn't solved with that hotfix.
check out the HD Tweak app, i think it has a "wake on SMS" tweak you can apply to the phone. would also help if you mention if you're using a Stock or custom ROM. in my case, i'm using a custom ROM with SMS Chat and i'm gettting SMS notifications with my device in stand-by mode. fyi, i'm not using the HD Tweak app...
Yeah, the Wake on SMS on HD tweak as mentioned in my post basically modifies the registry for device wake on SMS.
However, this is not, and should not be normal behaviour as waking the device turns the screen on as well. (unless your device is different in that it doesn't turn on the screen at the same time as waking up from a SMS, if this is the case, then... that's a pretty significant finding.)
just tested my device... screen is off (e.g., hit the power button to turn it off) sent myself a txt via my email account, heard the SMS notification and screen is still off. i'm using a custom ROM miri v26.2.
I can achieve the same effect by disabling auto turn off. As in: my device remains off and the SMS notification is properly sounded. (everything works as it should)
However, I worry that the device isn't actually in standby and rather just has the display off (which means that background apps are still running). A possible concequence could be that it would drain my batt pretty fast ( this is my cheif concern).

Vibration problem

Hi guys, I have an odd porblem with the vibration of my phone. When someone calls me and I press the answer key or slide the slider to answer the vibration doesnt stop right away, instead it continues for like 2-3sec and then it stops. Its pretty anoying thing! Does any1 know anything about this or how to fix it? Thanks a lot!
it did that to me after chaning my rom to a custom one ... now with the stock i'm fine ;]]
I am having a smiliar problem, only that it happens when I receive text messages. My phone is set to ring and vibrate. My incoming text message alert is a very short mp3 sound. Sometimes it happens, other times it doesn't. Whenever I receive a text message, the phone will vibrate and continue vibrating until I press cancel on an error notification (see image). I have done a soft and even hard reset but still I get this long vibrating.
Is there a fix for this? My Touch2 has its original branding, I haven't changed anything except installing the updates found on the htc support site.
that's even worse than a change to buggy non-stable slow ROM
hey Ltblue what rom are you using at the moment? I have the original from M-tel. I think this bug has started since I've installed AE Buttons because I wanted to turn off my volume buttons. Do you guys know any other more stable program that can remap those?
hakc i bought mine from Eurotel , i saw them in mobilebulgaria.com and the price was the best for that time , i ordered the phone and it came with stock HTC default ROM ... i've changed many times with these here but none of them works as well as the stock ROM !

Hi, I finaly localized the problem. It is caused by AE Buttons. Do you guys know any oher similar program that can allow me to disable or remap my volume side buttons?

Hey if you have installed MP3 ringtone update from HTC support site. Try removing it. That hotfix used to cause many javascript errors and has been removed by HTC from their website few weeks back.
Still no alternative on AE Buttons? Anyone?
