Wav files on sd card (HTC HD2) - HD2 General

Hi All
I have put some wav files (full cd quality) on sd card but they will not show on music shortcut, I have to use file explorer and select the track which then plays in media player. I was trying to avoid the reduction in quality (compression) of tracks when syncing from pc by pasting the cd tracks direct to the card. Is there any way to display and therefore play with full functionality, "full fat" files on sd card from the music icon?

To be frank, can you really tell the difference between 177kbp/s CD tracks and 320kbp/s MP3s, especially through headphones?

Not sure - feels like I'm missing something. Using Windows 7 and Win media player when syncing to the phone tries to turn everything down (smaller file size - lower quality). I'm not bothered about having an entire library on the card, 2 or 3 cd's is fine, I swap em around whenever I need to. What do you suggest for max quality that I can sync that will show up in library / music tab? I'm also not bothered about album art.

You can set WMP up to rip to 320kbp/s MP3 under:
Organise -> Options -> Rip Music
That should sync them to be the same bitrate.
If you are adamant you want to use .WAV files, WMP mobile plays them fine, not sure why the Music tab doesn't use them.

How to display album art in wmp10

I cannot seem to see the album art in wmp10.
What I am doing wrong?
Do you have to rip cd's in WMA or MP3? My device shows in the sync tab in wmp10 on my pc , but no album art is synced across.
I've had this as well, though I've also noticed WMP10 doesn't like playing from SD cards (or maybe it's the fact they're AAC) as there are sometimes stutters in playback, etc.
Still prefer using TCPMP though.
I use a Sandisk II 2GB card and have not noticed stuttering unless I flip screen/swivel.
I have resolved problem with a lot of frustration this morning.
Only ripped CD's with "Copy Protected" selected in options show album art. I am re-recording stuff.
A workaround was using Resco Explorer 2005, highlight entire music folder on pc and select Send , My Device and then select location. Go to PDA open WMP10 and select update library. Annoyingly it adds other crap as well, hence why I am re-recording also at a higher bit rate.

How to correctly upload songs to HTC HD2

Hi all
Uploading songs to HTC was a messy affair initially.Following are the lessons i learned the hard way.Hope these may come handy for a new user of this amazing phone:
Mistake 1:First i created a folder in Storage Card-->Music-->English and uploaded around 500 songs into it.The result was that the music player took ages to load and was extremely sluggish.
Lesson learned:Never upload more than few(20-25) songs in a single folder.
Mistake 2:Next i used Windows Media Player to sync the music with HD2.The syncing was super fast with songs automatically organized into artist folders.Neat.But wait, when i opened my music player, the albums were blank. The songs where there all in the storage card but some how the music player was unable to read them.
After many unsuccessful tips gathered from net,i finally solved this by copying all files from HD2 back to my PC and pasting them back to Storage Card-->Music-->English (of course after deleting all files from there first)
Lesson learned:Never sync with Windows Media Player(this also leads to few other problems)
Mistake 3:Use ID3v2.4 UTF-8 in Mp3tag.When i did this,HD2 was unable to show the album/file cover art.
Lesson learned:Use ID3v2.4 UTF-16 to tag the files if you want the album art displayed.
Why not use Automatic album art update?:The Automatic album art update in HD2 works like a charm but it always go for the lowest quality image.
Finally:
This is how i upload music files to get the album art display correctly:
Tag files with Mp3tag using ID3v2.3 UTF-16 (Tools-->Tags-->Mpeg.Check ID3v2.3 UTF-16 in "Write".Leave other options unchanged).
Active Sync HD2.
Explore-->My Windows mobile based device-->Storage Card-->Music.
Create a artist named folder in Storage Card-->Music-->English (or any other name of your choice).
Just copy and paste the song/songs of your choice into this.
It works just fine for me
Hope u too will find this useful !!!
very useful post thanks for sharing
should be made a sticky because it is actually a very common problem
thanks again
right no offence here but surley my method is easier, if your tracks are tagged properly which most peoples are create folder on storage card called music, i have mine like this
storage card >band name>album
pop them on the card.
album art rename the picture in the album to folder.jpg
works simple
I must be lucky. Never had a problem using Windows media Player to sync music to my HD2. Works flawlessly syncing to my MicroSD card. No extra steps required. Album art transfers fine for me too but I have noticed that the Update Album Art feature does sometimes provide better quality features.

Isnt this exactly the same as what i said (minus the last step of renaming the picture)
over 60gig's worth of music is album art tagged (mp3 tag) and levelled out (mp3 gain) on my pc and using sync is sweet for me. after uploading an album to my phone i always refresh the sync button though as i once bricked my phone after putting 20 albums on all at once...

How much memory r u usin?
Also,an album may contain few singles with a diff cover art.But once we upload, the album art over writes it.U kno anyway 2 avoid this without putting singles into individual folders?
I have to completely dissent
The only sane way is trashing the builtin eye-candy media player and disable its tab, install mortplayer and copy your music over, wherever and however you prefer, then simply add it and press play
It's not like you're watching the animation of albums and songs passing by when you listen to your MP3s, you're most likely keeping it in your pocket with the display off.
If that's only for the sake of impressing friends, you may just keep the music tab and use it with 10 songs to show off the graphics
well, using a 3rd party software is the easiest way out....but i want to use the default player with full features on.
Also I want to see the album art while selecting a song and it completes the experience....nothin 2 do with impressing friends.
In btwn,Mortplayer indeed is a good player..... I liked GSplayer too...

So if I'm reading your instructions right, I have to create a folder of each artist then transfer the music over? Even if I do that which takes a lot of time, when you transfer the music over using activesync it tries to reformat the songs and that could take forever. Am I doing something wrong? Thanks, I'm brand new to WinMo.
I think to make the transfer of the files faster, use a card reader, load all the songs on the memory card, pop it back in, and off you go.

ok then, I stand corrected you alone can decide what you want your phone to be doing Me, I tried using manila player, but gave up after couple minutes, realizing that it just picked up the mp3s at its own leisure without me being able to control it in any way. Another manila tab off the hook
so i simply cannot put all my music into storage card>Music? i have to make new folders within music folder of each band name and album?? i guess my question is.. whats changed?? from touchflo 3d to sense??
because i uploaded my music just like that... on ym fuze.. and everything worked perfectly... and it was all under the music folder. no individual band names necessary... so did they change up something or what??

How is removing the SD card, load the songs then pop it back in different from connecting the phone to the computer and selecting the Disk Drive option instead of ActiveSync? Also, do you have to remove the back cover of the phone, not the batter cover, to remove the SD card? I had a hard time trying to pull that sucker out. Thanks.

I checked the the Media box is checked. It got stuck at 89% transferring so disconnect the phone, connect using Disk Drive, delete everything under the Music folder and I am going to retry again. I have also put a movie under the Video folder but I couldn't locate it anywhere. I tried Pictures & Video, I tried looking at the document folder, nada...sigh.

keep the media box unchecked.otherwise the folder will be formatted each time u active sync with pc.
if u find it hard to create artist named folders on your own, sync using media player;it will do the job for you.But then sense music player may not detect the songs. If that's the case, try opening a single song with file explorer or phone media player.then soft reset.the songs may appear.for me it dint work as i mentioned in the first post.so i copied all folders in "music" to pc and deleted the folders in "music" and re pasted the folders to "music" from pc.

Thanks. I will give this a try and report back.
OK. I followed nessqn's instruction and all the songs are there along with the album arts. But it freezes everytime I go to Music. I have to take out the battery or do a soft reset. Is it because it's trying to compile the library therefor it's slow?

HD2 + Music on Storage Card

Hey guys, I was wondering if there is anyway of setting only a particular folder to play music from on the storage card. The Sense music player is picking up every audio format e.g. ringtones and playing them???
all i did was create a folder on my mem card called music and my ringtones are on phone mem and music tab didnt find them
Thanks. I thought this was the case, but I have a lot of mp3 ringtones assigned to contacts and moving them all over to the phone memory just wouldn't be viable.
thare are serval discusions on that, around here. actually there is no way from stoping the music tab to play all sondfiles it find on the storage card (or at least only play a single folder). there are serval registry key and stuff but it looks that the music tab is ignoring them and do what it like to do.
mad
you could trim your ring tones or lower the quality of the file depending how many you have and if you can be bothered or just create a playlist and exclude the ringtones that prob the quickest option
Use a file explorer to make all the folders you don't want the Music Player to see, hidden. The phone will still see all of the ringtones etc... but they won't show up in the Media Player. It worked for me.....
sorry for bumping an old thread, I put songs into my SD card in the Music tab, I find WAZE nav sounds ( in mp3), what should I do so the Nav mp3's are not shown in the Music tab?

Media Player/HTC Music Player and iTunes/iPod Use

I currently have all of my music (15,000+ songs) set up for use with Itunes/iPod. I would like to try to use Windows Media Player with the HD2. However, I am concerned about letting Media Player access my files that are currently cataloged in iTunes.
1. Can I set up Media Player so that it accesses the mp3 and m4a files but doesn't copy or move the files from the iTunes folder?
2. If I add the music to the Media Player system, can I rate the music in the Media Player without changing or disrupting the music files themselves?
3. Can Media Player playlists be created without disrupting the iTunes system?
If you currently are using Media Player/HTC Player AND iTunes/iPod successfully, can you tell me if there are any issues that need dealing with? Up until now I've been manually copying music to the HD2. Unfortunately, there seems to be some sort of corruption issue if I delete files that I've added to playlists from within the HD2 Player. I'm assuming that using Media Player to create lists is easier and more secure than creating lists from manually copied files.
Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
-Bob-
The easiest way I recommend which I my self did is Find your Itunes library on your computer copy it to your HD2's storage Card and from there do whatever you like.

From my original post: "Up until now I've been manually copying music to the HD2. Unfortunately, there seems to be some sort of corruption issue if I delete files that I've added to playlists from within the HD2 Player."
As far as I know you should delete songs from the folder that you have your music in it usually on your storage card that should not be any problem, another way is that you use the ActiveSync to sync your music files from your computer to your device,in this way whenever you add or delete a music file on your PC it will be automaticaly synced to your Phone, this sure is the better way.

how can i play lossless music (wav) ?

how can i play lossless music (wav) ? use hd2 wp7
This is not easiest way but I did get this to work in playing wma lossless music on my HD2 Winmo 7.5.
First create WMA lossless files with spec of 16bit 44.1K.
This is where you will go off-road..
Find a link on web on how to turn the winmo phone into a usb drive.
i found a link on wpcentral.
Goto the usb drive'd Winmo 7.5 phone and look for folder named Music.
Inside create the folder you wish and copy those wma lossless files you want.
These files will show up in the phone as "Various Artists", so they won't catalog properly.
So, go back to the usb drive'd winmo phone. Go back to the Music folder where you copied those wma files. Right Mouse click on one of those wma files. A choice to create Playlist should be there. Create one.
Rename the playlist as you please. Then right click on the file and goto properties. Then goto "references" tab. Select all the wma file names and "drag" them into the "references" tab. You may have to rearrange the order of the songs, but there are buttons allowing you to do this.
After everything looks right save this file.
Then, look for folder called PLAYLIST. MOVE the .pla (playlist) file you created into this folder.
unplug the winmo phone and you should be able to play this "playlist" full of wma lossless files.
there maybe easier way to do this... but I have not found a method on the web..
The way i do it is, first of all, convert the wavs to wma lossless with a converter. I use dbpoweramp.
If you have wav\ape\flac\cue files, get a virtual drive emulator like daemon tools and load the cue file in that, then get dbpoweramp or zune software to convert.
I then sync the music with the zune software to the phone. Done.
There is a minor bug. This happens on a few builds of wp7 ive tried.
music skips when trying to play from phone speaker.
If you use headphones or an external speaker the music does not skip.
personally, the audio quality of the phone is not as good as a real zune hd. I would convert to mp3 instead.
check the size of those files you transferred using zune.. i have tried your method.. however, even when the files are only "sync'd" not convertered, they were fraction of the original files..
the sync problem seems random to me. try to transfer one album at a time and check that theyre synced before continuing
