Hello, I have been using this site for a long time now but without registration. I am trying to root my mytouch but I have no clue which tutorial to use. There are a lot of tutorial I can't seem to find the right one. So my question is that can someone please give me a link to a tutorial of how to root my mytouch.
The problem that I had was that I couldn't find one with my firmware, etc.
I have a My Touch 3g (w/ 3.5mm head-phone jack). Firmware 1.6.
So can anyone please provide me a link of where I should go to root my My Touch? Thank you very much I will really appreciate it. Also if anyone can post which roms I can use with my version of my touch, that'll be great. Thanks again!
Turn off your phone and press "power+back" and type inn those numbers back on this thread, and we can see if we find anything.

hey i have a wing, and i was searching some wing vids on youtube, and i found a clip where this guy teaches you to go get a 6.1......and so i followed. Well i know just learned that the Rom on my phone now is a CarbonElisha. It was real cool when i first got it, but now i hate it. i wanna find another 6.1 to dl and use on my phone. i tried some Roms and dragged it onto my memory card, and it didn't let me open the file on my phone. Hello i need info or at least somebody tell me where to get info on how to flash the HTC XV6900 to Metro Pcs fro Sprint. I searched but could not find a definitely answer or a write up on how to do this.I just bough one from a guy on craigslist after reading it can be flashed and since my phone is dying anyway seem like the perfect moment.
I know i can pay someone else to do this but after my wife and 2 girls saw mine and watched a video on you tube of a flashed Touch they all want one so paying $60+ to get it flash plus the cost of each phone is not possible.Also there are people selling the software for flashing but i don't want to pay for something that may not work or maybe can't do myself after all.
Also want to note that i'm using linux on my laptop but have windows on my wife desktop.

Guys, read this link HERE it will help you out with what to read up on, what files are needed and where to get them and a step by step on what you will see when flashing
This is for a Custom WinMO 6.5 ROM from NFSFAN though so if you need something else you can still use it just some of the examples may not relate but the idea is still the same
As for the Linux user - do this via your wifes desktop (I love Linux just have Windows all over my house for work as well)

i am wanting to flash sprint htc 6900 to cricket
i am wanting to flash my vogue 6900 could anybody tell me the right way to do it it and for it to fully work(txt,pic txt,call,internet etc.) please i think i may have found how to unlock it and stuff but i want to make sure its right could anybody help. all the other threads i looked at was to flash the other htc's to cricket but not the 6900 could someone help.

People keep posting links to the HTC Elf/Elfin could someone use the steps to SIM and CID unlock their HTC Vogue using the steps for the Elf/Elfin without it bricking?
As of right now, there aren't any steps(that I'm aware of) for flashing/ CID unlocking the HTC Touch.
The best instructions I found were here. Just scroll down to where it gives instuctions for the Touch. There are even instuctions for flashing ROM via memory card(which I can tell you do work).
Basically you'll need the correct coke unlocker and the new ROM. First you flash the cokeman unlocker that matches your situation and then when that's finished flash the ROM. I recommend flashing the new ROM at least twice before you start using it. I flashed the new NFSFAN's v8 Windows 6.5 ROM three times and it's working way smoother than last time when I was running v7....which I only flashed once. The best advice I can give you is to have patience.

first thing i did was to update it as mentioned in site notioninkfan site
but even after that i m facing problems like force close HomeScreen err.
also i dont have 3g sim card or wifi router at present.
so only option left for me is to use ad-hoc for which i wil have to root my adam.
I am n00b in rooting. i have read many posts present in this forum and in NIhacks but cant judge which one to use.
can anybody help me by posting a link to Stable rooting of Adam with Ad-hoc (and if possible using market).
Also, is there any way to Un-brick it again kindly let me know.
Sorry developers, i m not a tech guy so i cant experiment at present on adam.

First need to install the latest update from Notion Ink Adam. Which requires you go into quick flash mode. Or you can just hit Update in your setting menu. Or your adam could be already updated, but i would just flash it with the latest update.

apply your specific update. You will need a MicroUSB To USB connector for your computer. Follow the instructions from NI carefully. Remember to hit Power Button + VOLUME DOWN to go into flash mode to enter ADB mode for your pc.
Once you get that done, head over to Notioninkhacks.com
then apply the hack: http://notioninkhacks.com/index.php/2011/02/05/updated-notion-ink-adam-update-root-market-adhoc-how-to-guide/
Unzip the folder and and transfer item to your root folder in your sdcard or sdcard2 and flash your Adam by hitting Power Button + VOLUME UP

also the hanging prb is solved a bit.

Sorry to ask this question, It's a simple one but all the threads seem to go into too much info. I've hunted through numerous threads, but maybe someone can point me in the right direction.
I'm a Win 6.5 kind of person and Know nothing whatsoever about Android (Until my next upgrade (Sensation Hopefully))
In 2010 I bought my daughter a T-mobile UK Hero, unlocked it and is now running with an O2 UK sim.
She has never recieved an over the air update to 2.1, is this because it should come from T-mo and she now has O2 Apn settings??? On 1.5, I can't even find "Check for Updates" in the menu.
Is there an easy way and a step by step guide to this?
I'd like to use a stock rom, as I'll have her and everyone else to answer to if anything goes wrong.
Is there a thread or glossary that explains upgrading procedures and words like rooting etc. as all this seems a little different to Win Mo.

Thanks, I'll give that thread a go, and I hadn't thought about the simlock issue. I did an over the air update on my girlfriends desire that I unlocked from O2, and didn't have a simlock issue, or is this totally different to an RUU flash?

If it does, can the phone be unlocked using the same code as used last time?
I seem to recall reading that flashing a rom doesnt affect the sim lock. Dont know about an RUU though

Ive figured it out guys, took a bit of doing but i got there, if anyone else needs help let me know. Just to summarise rooted with gingerbreak...very simple. Then used the bell hacked apks with root explorer and it works a treat, this function has made this device indispensible now.
