HTC Music app - Droid Incredible General

I've been trying to get album artwork to show up in the HTC music app but cannot figure it out. I've put a folder.jpg in the folder containing the music, even embedded the artwork into the mp3, but for whatever reason, some albums will not show any artwork.
Can anyone point me in the right direction? thanks in advance.
UPDATE:
Downloaded MP3Tagger Pro from the Market, and that let me add artwork to the ID3 tag on the phone.

I have tried mp3 tagger and album art finder - both add the album art but strangely enough when I reboot my phone the album covers are missing. Anyone else having this problem?

I'm using "3" (cubed) for a music player app. That actually downloads and lets you select album art. I was also frustrated getting ID3 tag images to show correctly, so I'm just using a different music app.

I like 3, but right now, it only sees the music you have on your SD card, and not in the phone memory.

I use the HTC music app, and it imported all my album art in just fine. I just include a .jpg in the folder with the music, and it auto sets it to the album art.

I'm experiencing the exact same problem with my phone. Any suggestions??

Hi,
I am the developer of mp3tagger pro. If you used the mp3tagger pro option "easy album art finder" (which is doing the same thing as album art grabber) the album art is not persisted to the files itself but only to the internal android media database. This would be erased eg. after a firmware reset (it is strange that you are experiencing this after a normal restart though).
And this is why you have the additional "load by album" / "load by directory" option in mp3tagger pro. This will save the results to the files itself (the same way pc based tagger software would do it) and they will survive all kinds of wiping / resetting of your phone.

Another issue with HTC Music app
I have not experienced the album art issue, but one issue I have noticed is with the "default playlist." I'm not sure if it is a bug or what, but I normally keep my music on "shuffle all." After a certain amount of time of not using the music app, then next time I open it, it reverts back to wanting to play the first 100 tracks in my library. I then have to click back on the library list and choose "shuffle all" again to get the rest of my music to load up.
My BT is fully integrated with my car stereo and this one little thing is the only thing causing me to have to pull my phone out of my pocket when I get in my car.
Has anyone else noticed this when using the HTC music app? On my Droid, using the standard 2.1 Music app It would always just pickup playback where I left off.

[Workaround] Have Media Panel recognize synced Playlists

I don't know how the majority of you sync music to your X1s, but I've been using Windows Media Player (Desktop version) to sync all of my previous HTC phones, and figured that it would be the best way to sync my new X1 too. The issue is, as I'm sure most of you have found, that Windows Medial Player syncs playlists to the phone in .asx format, which happens to be unreadable for the media panel.
This is pretty unacceptable... (Please let me know if the newer media panel fixes this issue). So I've come up with two workarounds for you guys to choose from. The first is involves a program called "Playlist Editor". The second involves using the pay app, "CorePlayer".
Playlist Editor is a simple playlist manager for use on our devices, it allows you to save your non-compatible asx playlists in a multitude of compatible formats. Download it here
Just navigate to your playlist (even though there isn't any text that shows up, use the left softkey to go up a directory) and then goto the "Save As" menu from the program.

CorePlayer as most of you know is a robust media player, with the added feature of being able to re-save a playlist in an alternative format. Navigating it is a bit more complicated however, but it doesn't balk at any of my playlists like Playlist Editor has for a few. Here are the steps.
Step 1: Goto File>>Open>> Navigate to your playlist
Step 2: Goto Database view, and navigate to the virtual folder containing your playlist
Step 3: Click the Database softkey, and click Store As Playlist
BTW, please post if you have a more automatic solution.

As long as I know, the new MXP panel can handle desktop playlists
So with this program it's finally possible to creat playlists on the computer for the xperia media panel
@getrab
It can, but it's buggy. Some playlists are always shown as empty, I don't know why.

How to add albumart

I don't know if this has been added somewhere, but i searched everywhere for it and couldn't find one so i made a little tutorial on how to put album art into your music using itunes (on windows 7).
if your music has album art already you can tell by looking at the icon below the window.

if not then it will look like this
so now lets choose that album and drag the folder into your itunes like so...
then when in itunes right click the album you just added and choose "Get Album Artwork" and the image will appear, but if you don't have an itunes account (like me) and couldn't get it you would have to go online and search for the album cover on google images. when you find your image right click it and click on "Copy Image"
after that go into your itunes and right click the album and click "Get Info" (i think it will ask something like "you sure you want to continue blah blah blah" just tick the box that says "don't ask again" and click yes. if it doesn't then you probably already did.) when the window pops up there will be 4 tabs (info, video, sorting, & options) make sure you're on the Info tab which you will probably end up at by default. on the bottom right you'll see "Artwork" with a big empty box. on that empty spot right click it and click "Paste" then click "Ok" a progress bar will show up copying the image to each song in that album.
now plug in your samsung vibrant and go to your music folder(or where ever you put your music). i like to keep things organize so i made a music folder>artist folder>album folder. so if i had one artist with multiple albums that i like i can just drag that album to the artist folder. now from itunes drag the album into whatever folder you have on your samsung vibrant or sdcard and thats it! and when thats done check if that albumart icon appears on the bottom left just to be sure.
now on your phone drag the notification bar to "Turn off USB storage" and go into your music player to see if it embedded the albumart.
i know its not the fastest way but if your ocd like me and wants every song to have an albumart then this should do the trick. i've tried doing it on windows media player but it was giving me a headache and itunes was way faster. the good thing about it is that you wont have any album covers saved into your computer or phone because it will save you a lot of space for people like me who have a ton of music in their harddrive. hopefully this helped a lot and PLEASE if i am missing something, if theres a faster way, or if theres already a thread on how to do this please tell me and i will delete this post. I know theres an app to grab albumart and all but to me personally this is faster and i've done it to over 100 albums in minutes. it will save you a lot of time in the future.
I just use an app on my windows PC called mp3tag. It lets me scrape id3 tag info and album art from Amazon.com and it's easy to use. I've been using it for a couple of years and I love it.

I use mp3tag as well. Works great, but I have found that the music player doesn't always display the album are even though its properly tagged.

I've not had this issue yet. Admittedly though, I have only tried a small handful of albums so far. I tend to use my Zune HD for most of my music listening.
I use album art grabber from the market. Does everything right from the phone.

Looking for a simple Music Player App

I want a good old music player, something like WinAmp or alikes
I just want to click on a folder and play everything on the folder, instead of having to annoyingly having to go manually pick from Artist list, or Genre list, or Album list
so far all the Player software i've tested are like that "fancy wannabe"
Build in Samsung musci player = good player but lacks the most basic feature
Astro Player = it doesn't do it
bTunes = it doesn't do it
Rock Player = it doesn't do it
DAAP Media Player = it doesn't do it
Zimly Media Player = fancy but it doesn't do it
Vanilla Music Player = not as vanilla as it claims, it doesn't do it
MixIng = horrible junk
Kiss = it doesn't do it
.... (many hours later)
Player = woooooohoooooooo finally this one works the way i like, best thing is it also lets you set which ever tune you are listening to as the default ring tone, YES!
it can get lyrics too!

Simply Music works for me

There are a lot of windows utils out there that automatically create a playlist in every music folder you have.... So, you can still use your favorite player and click a "folder", but this time as a playlist (with the folder name as its name)
have you tried double twist?

There are tools that will automatically create playlists for all your folders at once, with one click on a button so to speak. For example: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Audio/Other-AUDIO-Tools/Winamp-Playlist-Creator.shtml
But i know that there are many others out there.

Glitch for Changing Artist Name on HTC Sense Music Player?

I have two songs that I want to change the artist name to reflect a change in letter casing. At first, I had these two songs downloaded from the gtunes music downloader app, but after discovering that the files were 128kbps, I had deleted them, although I did change the file name a day or two before deleting it. I imported these songs later on, but with a higher bit rate. The album art, song title, and album title were tagged on each song, but the artist name did not change (All the changes just involved capitalizing the artist and song tile). The file name, however, is the same as it was when I deleted it. Since noticing this problem, I have used multiple tag editing apps from the Play Store, but the HTC Sense music player does not reflect the change, nor does other local music playback apps like doubleTwist.

I used iTag, DroID3Tagger, and AudioTagger (correct me on the name if I'm wrong). In all those apps, it appears capitalized. Even when I view the two files in Windows Explorer, it's how I want it to be. Still, it doesn't match up on the music player.
Try clearing the cache and data (unless you have playlists) of the music player. It's a long shot, but perhaps the changes you've made haven't come into effect yet?
I tried those options, but there's no luck. Still the same typing on both artists...my best hypothesis on this music player right now is that it
must have some kind of cache deep in the storage that won't let me change it

Problem with MortPlayer Audio books

Hi,
I was using MortPlayer Audio books with my Note 2 to listen audio books.
Unfortunately it seems that the program is not working well with my Note 3. When pressing the Play/start button , nothing
happens. The icon changes from pause to start but the player doesn't start. I have to rewind or to fast forward manually to be able to start the player button. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall the program but it doesn't help.
Anybody else is using Mortplayer Audio books?
I like this program because you can choose a specific folder to listen to your podcasts. it doesn't scan your entire device
and you can add bookmarks to your files .
Thank you,
Daniel
me too
Hi - just installed themer and same here. I'm on a huawei honor 3.
Can not live without good old morty.
I think i'm going to try add a separate wiget for it, assuming there will let me. Did you know it comes with one (separate download from the store). I use media untils my self and create a fancy one using zooper.
Mort Play/Pause Issue
I am also having this issue on my new Note 3 running touchwiz 4.3
I have experienced the above issue with MortPlayer, MortPlayer AudioBook and the widgets.
Pressing the Play button sometimes causes it to change to the pause button but play back does not begin, play clock also does not begin to count. Vise versa also occurs. Quickly cycling Play/Pause seems to cause this more frequently. re-reading the ID3 tags seems to temporarily fix the issue but it quickly returns.
Has anyone had any success resolving this issue or have contacted mort? A lot of these apps haven't been updated in over a year.
-Hype
EDIT: I've noticed if you are deliberate with you Play/Pause pushing (wait approximately 3s between pushes) it seems to work consistently well.
Mortplayer fix
I am having the same problems, I have found clicking the back 15 second button after play always gets it going but still a pain Mort your the man hope this gets fixed.
Well after trying to install it again after uninstalling it I moved on to Smartplayer
I must say I really like the look of widget ifI could just hide that x in the corner but I guess it serves a purpose.

Mortplayer Audiobooks - no longer playing full track before moving on
Hi Mort, or anyone else that knows how to fix a problem I've started having.
For no good reason that I'm aware of, I've noticed that Mortplayer (music and audiobook versions) has started skipping to the next track before fully playing the next one. I've noticed I'm missing about 18 seconds.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem, or why it might have started? Other music players are able to play the full audio file, so it isn't a problem with my mp3 audiobooks (text to speech fanfiction).
