If someone is bored and want's to make a rom from this...

Wow!!! Thats a pretty big fix list!!! I don't think I want to lose root for it though.

A rooted version is coming soon.

hopefully really soon

No Doubt!!! There are some really big fixes in that list. I'm glad Verizon is taking the time fix the issues before pushing out the OTA

Shouldn't we be thanking HTC.

I think ill wait for the rooted version this time, no more jumping the gun on the first update I see.

there are a couple devs working on a rom for this new leak, which is actually LEAK VS. 4.
Two devs have a basic rom they are working on, and another dev is about to start an update to his rom. so just hang tight, a rooted version of this will be available shortly, like a day or 2.

Oh FINALLY some action up in this place. This is cool.
Hey eclipse, what was v3? I'm with the OP; I thought this was.

there was the 2.1 developer ROM,
then the 2.1 Leak w/o root
then the 2.1 pre-OTA
then this one.

Forgot all about the developer rom
Thanks css.

This one is tempting to upgrade to. I think I should wait I'm still on 2.1 v1 but holding out I know once I upgrade to a higher version v1 will be rooted days later.

do we think someone will be able to release this for us leakers so that we will be able to get root? I can hold off upgrading if that is a possibility...
thanks

Works just fine for me, noticed Google Voice now works perfectly

This v3 leak is for the leaked people, but it does not help us in any way get root.

Digging the update, but...
My market is still devoid of several apps.. I'm non-rooted (early leak adopter), so it doesn't seem jcase's fix will work for me.. just wanted to share in case A) someone else was trying to figure out whether v3 fixed this problem, and/or B) I'm an idiot and someone else knows what I need to do to see the full market..

It's not just you and you are not an idiot. The short answer is that the problem lies with google, VZW, and HTC. HTC has to give google a final build number before google can authorize full access to the market.
In short we won't get full access until we a) get root or b) VZW releases an official OTA.

has any of you leakers installed this?
would it be possible for you to tell me what the radio version is?
Thanks =D

Official Sprint Release (Should I or Shouldn't I)

When the official Sprint 2.1 update comes out should I update the firmware or just wait for a custom ROM that is based off the official release. Probably just going to wait but just curious.
wait
what, you need me to say more?
Haha Well the roms that are going to be based off of the official releases are going to be slimmed down and optimized I would guess. I would run a rom from Fresh. His seem to be the most consistant out of them all. Not bashing others, just saying that he has been pretty much in the game since day one here.
I's start yet another thread about the 2.1 update.
AND not use the SEARCH option here first!
Then there'd be a chance someone might take you seriously.

Flashing their official update will require you to RUU (whether it's to go back to stock to get OTA, or if they actually release an RUU). In either case, you will lose root.

Flipz speaks the truth. As many others have said, just wait for a ROM from one of our awesome developers. If I were you, I'd stick to Fresh ROM since Flipz tends to be very professional about his updating and bux fixing, not to mention every ROM release he uploads is almost always flawless (ie. not forgetting files, etc.). Just my 0.02.
ok if we loose the root can we always root again...and when i rooted i didnt mke a a nadroid back up just recoveryimage.1.5.2 can i still go back to stock??????thru ruu

OH RLY? Ask some G1 users... It's not always a definite that you will get root..
So if it goes OTA will it prompt me to install it? Should I turn off the "Check For Updates" option in Settings?
you will be waiting for the update for a long time. Just flash one of these awsome ROMs and enjoy your root. I talked with a tech @ the sprint store this past weekend and he was told the update will not come out till the EVO 4G arrives

[Q] Difference between official 2.2 and CM6

hey guys,
just wondering what all the hype is going on at the moment?
regarding the official 2.2 release i mean.
"CM6 final" has been out i think since september (i think) and that's froyo 2.2, so what's the deal or difference to the official 2.2? why is everyone freaking out and posting roms if CM6 has been available for quite some time now and CM roms offer way more functions, etc?
i don't get it, please someone lemme know why the official release should be any better?!
thx,
v.

@ first two posters: wow, very informative, thank you.
@ last poster: thx. ok that makes sense. still doubt it though that a stock rom can compete with an overclocked kernel running at 650+mhz, rooted, brutmaps for international navigation,... just to name very few functions that unofficial roms feature.
i'll definetely try an official version as soon as there is a reliable version. to see if it has any advantage. we'll see.
thx,

I've tried a few different roms, including CM5 and CM6, and nothing is as fast or as stable as my oem 1.6, rooted w/universal androot and overclocked to 528mhz.
If you're gonna compare, don't compare a modded version of the official rom, use the actual official rom.
alright, I need some help now:
there are a couple different releases in the development section and I don't understand which one is the actual official one. so far there are 4 versions (here are the thread starters):
bladyle
amazinglarry311
dasunsrule32
crios
would someone be kind enough to give a quick explanation (not in detail) what the differences are and what rom is the closest-to-official?
are they all just work arounds to make the OTA release work on all htc magics and the cookers are trying different approaches? one is changing something with the spl, one is using a CM6 rom, one is taking files from different roms and using adb commands to set everything up,...
I'd appreciate some help!
thx,

Stock US ROM, whatever the latest Honeycomb version was. Absolutely pure stock; no rooting or unlocking or anything. Just the updates that had been previously accepted from Motorola.
Well, seems like you're one of the first on XDA to get it. Browsing other threads and I see no mentions of OtA pushes.
Still going to flash back to 3.0 and see where it takes me!
mine came OTA about an hour ago. Also pure stock USA WiFi ROM

I believe that the update will only be pushed out to GED (Google Experience Device) Xooms, thus precluding UK Xooms to the update. You could try using the Motorola GED fastboot images to "restore" the GED firmware, and then waiting for the OTA. At that point, though, I'd wonder why you wouldn't simply just want to install one of the custom ROMs I mention in my XDA portal or BriefMobile posts.

Indeed. I'm starting to find the approach to OTA updates by Google a bit hap-hazard quite frankly. It's the same with my Galaxy Nexus. Some people I know who have purchased the phone recently have 4.0.2 on their GSM phone. I can't even get the OTA for it!
I've never stayed stock on any devices but as these devices get crisper I've tended to look at staying stock.
The only reason for me not to currently is the piss-poor way in which OTAs are managed. This Xoom update might just be another example.

Unrooting

Guys, I need some help.
I need to return my EVO Shift to Sprint and need to unroot. I did a search for "unroot" in this forum but couldn't find any clear instructions.
I have Cyanogenmod 7.1 installed (the official one).
Would really appreciate some help. Thanks
Search for the RUU. Run it. You'll go to unrooted stock. I have one on my old SD card if I find the time I'll load it up
Shifted from Outer Space
Or you can flash a sense based rom and take the OTA. That should work too

Flash the PG06IMG.zip file from the shift rookit below:
http://www.goo-inside.me/roms/VICODAN/shift-rootkit.rar
Copy the file to the SD card power off the phone, hold vol+down plus the power button and accept the update. You will lose all data including data on the sd card and will be unrooted on Froyo 2.2
Seems like just running RUU 2.2 is the easiest. I searched for it and got a link to multiupload which doesn't work.
Anyone know another source?

Also going to 3rd party stores makes life easier as well. I took my phone rooted last week and the tech told me to go unroot my phone and bring it back because his DM was there. LOL
Yeah someone I know was having touchscreen issues, with the phone. Told them, your insured, only been a few months since you got it. Take it back in and let them look at it. But first let me Unroot it. She was in a hurry, and took it to Sprint Rooted. Tech knows me, so he called me up. Was not a good situation . If the Manager had been there they would've flagged her account.

My phones not under warrenty anymore. I go to third party stores and I don't care if they know it's rooted or not. As a matter of fact I tell them it's rooted. I've been told by people that sprint doesn't care if you root your phone or not as long as it's not under warrenty. I've also been told by a sprint employee that you can root your phone. There's a law that most people don't know about that protects developers from carriers attacking them with legal issues. Fear I have not.

Hey, Honor 5X (KIW L24) Gets the Mashmellow Update in the US

Starting today, we are pleased to begin rolling out the highly anticipated Marshmallow update in the US. As part of this update, Honor 5X will also be receiving EMUI 4.0.
Is there anyway to force update it? Update is not showing up when I manually check in settings.
Super pumped to take marshmallow for a spin
I haven't been able to update either... I guess we just have to wait.
Update does not appear here too!
More: http://www.hihonor.com/us/blogs/honor-5x-gets-the-marshmallow-update/130547/
Forced update dial code *#*#2846579158#*#* does not work, fyi...
Between here, Honors' .com site and their US Facebook,
I don't see a Single user reporting the update.
Edit: I see one on Facebook, lol
If anyone gets the update or finds a download link please post here.
In the Facebook thread there's a guy named Mario who got it. The only confirmed one to get it so far if you guys want to try and teach him how to capture the OTA.

ok champ before you get all wired,
1. I know the phone does not come with an NFC chip in it.
2. I know this thread is for the MM update that Honor USA is lying about releasing.
3. I have already search about this in other threads, obviously to no avail.
4. Do you have input/ or are looking to bust somebodies chops on the internet.
Defensive much?
Let me answer your question about the NFC Sim, probably not. Probably not for all the tea in China. And this thread is about capturing the MM update which did come out because people on FB are confirming they got it.
