Easier way to pause/stop music? Side note: Any good media players from the market? - XPERIA X10 General

First post.
Mediascape sucks. Just to pause a song, I have to do go through so much stuff just to get to the now playing panel and press pause.
Is there a faster way, or maybe even a better media player? There are a lot and I don't want to look through them all,
Thanks

Check out Meridian Player. Add it's widget to home screen to control it easily.

Try TuneWiki. It comes with Shoutcast - internet radio & lyrics display (if applicable) during playback.

Definitely check out Meridian Player. Though I do like Mediascape, I use Meridian Player to make playlists to use in Mediascape.
Quick tip: When playing music, pull down the status bar and hit the currently playing song the quickly access the now playing page. From there, you can skip pause or select a new song from the list very quickly.

it's so stupid that we can't pause/play with a button, perhaps the camera button would do the trick...it would have been much easier

I use Meridian for movies and TuneWiki for music.
I have MW600 but i can't play/pause and is made by Sony.
I didn't test it yet if it works with Mediascape ...

you could try out MortPlayer which is a very straightforward easy to use music player that just does the job for you

bTunes works great. Has lock screen controls, and you can play/pause from the button on the X10's mic dongle (though it can be a bit finicky).

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I checked out some of the apps, but is it me or are they all not very visually appealing? Compared to the iPhone that is. (I had one but sold it 'cause I got really bored and felt it wasn't for me)
Any out there with a good looking UI?

Try Rockon or 3 for visuals, although I was getting some odd behavior from them when I would remove the headphones.

You can go straight to the current song from the App Tray.. (slide the tray down from the top and click on the "currently playing" line... Mediascape is very different to all the other "standard" media players out there and most people will take some time, and sometimes, a lot of time, to get into it... there will be improvements required I think.. things like creating playlists within the app, and lockscreen controls for the music player.. but mostly it's just different form everything else out there.. and we humans a uncomfortable with different.. until the point comes when it just feels normal.. use it.. give it time.. and then see.. (plus I also hear that the new firmware version may include some improvements for Mediascape too)..

Which musicplayer do you use on the HD?

I am curious, which player do you use and which is the best on the HD (no D-Pad). Which player makes the HD a real competitor to the iPod Touch / iPhone (in playing music).
I Like the Pocket Player. Nice Browsing through albums, many settingoptions, nice design.
I use the HTC one, it works and sounds pretty good ..
Coreplayer .... many many threads and posts about this ....
I'm trying out Pocketmusic (seems OK so far) as I can't get the TF3D thingie to work with more than a handful of tracks loaded, and anyway it seems a bit of a toy compared to what I've used before (pTunes on PalmOS), and it doesn't support .ogg files.

Btw, do you have any idea how to setup the fading in core player? you know, fading, so that when a song terminates the next one starts with 1-2 seconds overlapping, so it doesnt have the silence break..
thanks,
ionutz
Pocket Tunes is very good.
But, they don't have a WVGA skin yet. One thing that I found to be useful is the good bluetooth handling they have and the redirection of podcasts to a mono headset.
Regards, D
you also have Kinoma Play. Excellent as music player.
GSplayer old but very good
Ive been using the TF3D-player up until yesterday when i installed Coreplayer.
The sound and equalizer is much better in Coreplayer.

But i think an intuitive interface is also very important. i like the interface of S2P but the coverflow is not very smooth. Currently i am using pocket player but i hope there will be some good ipod-like-mediaplayer soon.
TF3d music tab sounds way better than Windows media player..I just got coreplayer...I may start using it if the sound quality is better.
S2P for me!
As for me, I use S2P! I've been using it since it first came out, when I was using my "old" Touch. Now i've got the latest OpenGL S2P from A-C, and love it,think its a great player, and would recommend it to anyone.
But I do understand that everyone has their personal choice,so if u're looking for a music player, try several and see what suits you best!
I'm a huge MortPlayer fan, it plays my ogg files perfectly. The new beta version is MortPlayer 3.31 b76 which comes with a skin made for the HD resolution Highly Recommended.
I use "conduits pocket player". Amongst other things, it has the features I most want from an mp3/media player. The most important features for me are; The screen turns off at a configurable time, it has a configurable sleep timer, It pauses for phone calls and resumes playing on completion. I can control the pause and rewind (volume up and volume down buttons respectively) from my pocket. I think it is a great player.
I use HTC TF3D sound...
I'm testing Pocket Player - and so far I'm liking it. I just wish the default skin was nicer. So far I haven't found any other skins that are wvga and have the functionality + large cover photo like the default skin. And I wish you could navigate in full screen mode.
I tried the iPhone looking skin found in the xda forums, but the album cover is still too small (for my taste), and that skin doesn't have the functionality of the default skin.
So far the TF3D player and Pocket Player are my favorites (I've already tried all of the other ones on the poll list above). We'll see which one I end up using more often.
I used to use S2P but am happy with the HTC one, links up with my BT headphones and sounds quite good.
No winamp on its way to WM 6.1?
I am using MortPlayer for all music playing, it even wakes me up in the morning (that was the reason I started using it back in WM5 times: it was able to "awake" my HTC Wizard, while the implemented clock was not ...)
But MortPlayer is much more than this, it is easy to listen to live audio streams, MP3, OGG files and to create playlists or run through folder collections. A great player, indeed!
Eriol
TF3D - simple and good audio quality. Composing playlist is somehow difficult because you dont see the full ID3 info. Loading takes some time when you have many audiofiles and to say the truth .... i don´t have soooo many - about 1-2GB only.
All other players have one problem, i have to start them, they don´t look as cool as TF3D and aren´t so user/thumbfriendly as TF3D - except for Mortplayer carscreen.

Cubed "3" Music Player

I received my HTC Desire on Monday, and coming from an iPhone i felt that the built in music player was a bit lacking.
Then i discovered Cubed (Not allowed to post a link being a new member, but google "Cubed Android". Check it out!! It is such a nice application to use, and i thought other people may be interested in it, it runs beautifully on the Desire, and is definately an improvement over the stock music app!
appears in the market as 3 (supposed to be the little 3 that means cubed in maths....)
search the market for 3 by Filipe Arabantes.
And yes, it's pretty good. just a shame you don't get the music controls on the lock screen like with the built in player.
I've installed this on my Desire but I cannot see a widget. Should there be one?

Had an update today and now have 3 widgets in my list. Sorted. Great app.
I still prefer Wiki I have to say. It's a bit faster and intuitive. Plus I listen to a lot of screamy rock and it's helpful to know what they're on about.
Installed it a few days ago and very impressed so far. Love the interface, the only thing I'd really like to see is a lockscreen interface for playback control.
For those who didn't find it with the above searches:
Search for "Cubed music" on the market. You'll see the app appears as number "3".
Nice app, thanks for sharing.
I love this player.. only problem is some songs are missing that show in other apps?
Thank you for the recommendation
Brilliant app

I love this app. It looks great, and allows you to download album art pretty quickly, which is a dream.
My problem is that when I do a full scan, the art seems to be assigned to the wrong songs. Any way to fix it, or unassign the pictures and do a reassign?
There's an update available for this app via the Marketplace, downloaded it today.
My Fav player at the moment .. but I am still hunting for a good player like this with an EQ ... Seen a couple but nothing with a good UI.
Any recommendations?
Unfortunately no...The only player i have with EQ is called Audio Player with EQ (very original...),found it in the Market, but it doesn`t fullfills my dreams...only thing thats good about it is the EQ.

This app doesn't display any album art for me, everything is just black. =\

If you press and hold on the art for a song, hold until the screen changes to a wall of images, and tap on the correct artwork
I only realised this myself by accident!
Only one think I miss in this app, is to set only one folder to scan for music (sdcard/mp3), because it shows sound files from other folders, which i don't want to listen to e.g. sound from satnav etc.

Alternative to Mediascape??

Hey Fellas!
Any alternative for media center(pics, vids & music)?? I just dont like the mediascape.
Any genious opinions, any recmnds?
I've used several, but I think TuneWiki is pretty good, at least for music. I think it drains battery a little too quickly for my tastes however.
Every time I download another media player, I find myself slowly drifiting back to MediaScape. I wonder why.

If you don't like the stock Mediascape (which I think it's pretty reasonable in itself), then I can only recommend Meridian Media Player (search "Meridian" on Market). It's a fantastic app and is incredibly simple to use.
use mixzing for music
it has a full equalizer to make music sound better!! its free on the app store
I like mixzing cause it does have a good ui n equalisers a charm however the thing I want is in meridian. that is the ability to use normal earphones n have it pause when receiving a call. I usually end up pullin ma earphones out for answering call n if I'm slow at putting earphones back in, the rest of the crowd hear my music lol

[Q] Music on Android

I really want to buy an Android device ( d: ) , but I'm not sure if there is that big of variate of mods and programs to make listening to music easier on Android.
I am used to an iPod Touch (jailbroken) with music controls over the volume rocker (I've read CyanogenMod has that !) and a real fast/easy way to listen to music.
After researching on the net, I have found some really nice programs like PowerAMP, but since I don't own an Android device, i can't really tell how good everything works and what else there is.
Of course I'd read myself into how to root and so on, and I'd do anything to make my next phone a good music player !
So what do you think are really important mods/programs for making music on Android easier and better ?
In my opinion, PowerAMP is the best music player for Android. You modify everything on the equalizer. Of course you've got presets (this way is easier for my). The biggest problem with the application is its price !! you've got a free trial period, but after, you've got to pay...
the default music player on Android gets the job done it just doesnt look good. Id advise just buying a Zune HD or and iPod Touch for your music
Well I have an iPod Touch, but i HATE carrying both an iPod and a phone (a brick right now )
Would it be possible to get the volume-rocker control for music to work with PowerAMP (<-- i dont care if it costs a little. As I've said, I'd do almost anything ) ??
Music controls do work with the volume rocker, track up and down, with PowerAMP. I'm sure CyanogenMod has an impact on that feature though. I think the mod is the fact that the command for blue tooth track next is mapped to the long press volume function, same with the lockscreen controls.
So you are saying that skipping (short hold of up/down) and pausing (power button ?) songs works on PowerAMP "out-of-the-box" (without root ?) ?
And also if I'd like to put CM on my device, it's possible that the functions would interfere ?
No, like I said, not stock. I use trackball wake so I can't comment on that.
so what would i have to do to get the functions like that to work with PowerAMP ?
Root and install CM6x
I use Lithium Player and I love it. It has a unique UI and can fetch album art as well. The player allows you to make playlists and customize the color of the UI. The player also finds playlists from other music apps on the phone, so that you don't have to keep remaking playlists. If you have any problems or concerns, just email the dev and he will reply back in a timely manner. Me and the dev are actually working on something big right now, and if you want to help, please visit my site at futurinnovations.blogspot.com.
Youll have A TON of options. Different players with different feature sets etc.
Trackball/vole skip etc are all available. Dont be afraid to root. Most of the time your device will have a simple one or few step solution.
If youre on here then you are already part of a tremendous community and have a stack of info and help at your fingertips.
With PowrAmp options , the interface , the widgets , lock screen controls etc and most of all the custom EQ make it a much better music experience than an Iphone/Ipod.
DoubleTwist makes Itunes syncing easy if its a MUST.
Winamp features wireless syncing.
Again really a no brainer. Music/sound quality will vary from device to device.
If you just want the best sound neither Android/Apple offer that. Perhaps theres an Android device that does have some great sound hardware but all in all smaller portable players with better sound chips will be a better choice in audiophile terms.
Good headphones + Poweramp are the next best thing. Plus you get the best damn communication OS/devices available off a desktop so go for it.
Mortplayer
One really good FREE Solution to all the features i read about PowerAMP is
MortPlayer... (DL widgets separately).
- lockscreen widget, playing from folders, playlists, volume controls etc.

Quirky Music Player on the Galaxy Note

I think the Note is a great device. I just could not fathom what the designers were thinking when they built the stock Music Player. It plays album tracks in alphabetical order, as opposed to the common track number order. I did not see any option in the UI to make it behave properly.
I am certain my MP3 with ID3 tags are fine. Because they played fine on the Galaxy Tab 10.1 and the Galaxy S II. My workaround to this quirky behavior of the stock music player... use an alternate Music Player from the Market.
same problem
Yup...mine has the same issue...all songs in all the albums are arranged alphabetically.
And there is no option of changing it. This is my first android and did'nt expect these kinda bugs.
Even my last phone, N8, had songs arranged by track number. Its really frustrating.
Anyone got a fix or do we have to wait for an update from samsung.
Btw another thing i noticed was that while viewing the music list while playing the music in the background, the bar at the bottom displays "song name _ artist". Should'nt it be a '-' instead of a '_'.
I noticed the same issue with the stock music player and also couldn't find a work around. I have therefore now started using Winamp which does thankfully play them in track order.
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
So there's no other option but to use another music player.
And wait for samsung to fix this.
Slightly off topic, but this is one of the advantages of Android over iOS - if you don't like the stock application, you can simply use another!
I don't think I've used the stock music player for any Android device I own.
Regards,
Dave
Lol..ya dude...another way to look at it...
And which player do you suggest?
I went for "cubed" (or "3") from the market, mainly 'cos it looks really good - but it sounds good too once you tweak the EQ a bit (though I have found that it has a tendancy to lock up the player if you mess with the EQ settings too much on the graphical interface).
EDIT - I also found it to do a good job of sorting out the somewhat patchy album art I had on the 30GB library I'd copied over form my old N900 to my Note (once I discovered that to do this you hold and drag on the album to get to the art selection/download functionality). It doesn't have an auto mode to process all albums but the per-album manual method was quick & painless for those albums that required it.
Well the real problem that i saw after using the note is that in Artists view...the songs are arranged by track number...while in album view..they are arranged alphabetically....
The thing i wanna know is does 2.3.6 fix this or not...
Screen shots attached
Thanks

Ya i know it does that in artist view...it would not be a problem if some albums had different artists...then we have to open album view and listen alphabetically which sucks...and as Braxos pointed out power amp is using too much cpu for playing music...i just did'nt expect these kinda bugs when we're buying expensive smartphones...
Winamp sorts the music properly.

MixZing is what I'm using, GREAT audio player which boasts a 10 band equalizer ranging from 30hz to 16khz, an amplifier to boost the volume, and yeah the songs/artists are alphabetically in order too!
I strongly recommend this application.
Efficient Music Player For The Note?
Coming from an iPhone which can boast music for 20 hours in a real life scenario... is there any decent music player that is power efficient? Poweramp looks like a battery hog that i'm not using for sure. Thanks
If anybody has run a music playback time test please report.
