Help Brand x10a Back to rogers firmware - XPERIA X10 General

Hi,
I had to get my x10 replaced, and i was wondering how i could brand it back to the rogers firmware, i debranded it using the x10a file posted by lollyhost100.
I backed up the rogers file, and i tried to brand it back with the firmware, but iget an error message how the firmware could not be donwloaded, if anyone can help me with this asap, it would be greatly appreciated
thank you
EDIT: NVM guys, i figured it out

and how did you accomplish the task......just curious for future information

You said you figure it out, HOW did you do it? Please tell us. Thanks

I debranded mine as well. It was easy enough but now I'm missing all the correct APN for the x10. I Googled for Rogers APN and looked everywhere. Unfortunately they don't seem to be the same ones I had on my phone originally. The ones I found are very slow compared to what is on when it ships.
Would someone on Rogers with the x10 kindly post all of his APN settings. You will need them too in order to connect to the correct data stream.
Here's a link on debranding: xperiax10.net/2010/04/14/debrand-your-xperia-x10-tutorial/
Again, please post all of your settings before you do it. Thanks!

Here are the settings I had on my stock Rogers firmware:
Name: Rogers Internet
APN: rogers-core-appl1.apn
Proxy: Not Set
Port: Not Set
Username: Not Set
Password: Not Set
Server: Not Set
MMSC: http://mms.gprs.rogers.com
MMS proxy: 10.128.1.69
MMS port: 80
MCC: 302
MNC: 720
APN Type: Not Set

Thanks, that helps a ton. These settings are very different than what I found on Google. My phone is almost back to normal.
Were there any other settings? Unfortunately I won't be able to check them myself until I am able to revert. Seems the OP has succeeded somehow but I am still stuck. I tried a different method but Sony's servers seem kinda screwy right now.

i followed lollyhost100 steps posted on estato, but i used sony ericsson update service to brand back, it worked for me
firstly i connected my phone, opened sony ericsson update service, reinstalled my firmware, and yes it will stil be debranded but yeh, after that i copied my rogers file into the sony ericsson update folder located in C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Sony Ericsson\\Update Service\\db\\13740270\\blob_fs
and opened up the sony ericsson update service, selected the x10 model, and searched for a new update, and it will tell u there is no update available, and an exit or back button appears, but beside it is a button that says install or reinstall soemthing like that, and it started to install the rogers firmware back on the device and it worked
i really dont know how it worked, i guess i got lucky or something, but thats all i did, use sony ericsson update service, not pc companion and give it a shot

how did u reinstall the firmware using SEUS? where's that option?

Yea it's weird. I tried that but it doesn't have an option for me to reinstall firmware. It's pissing me off! lol

did u have the same version as me ?
that was 2.10.4.22

yea it is.. did you install SEUS like brand new when you did it? Or did you use SEUS before?

yup 2.10.4.22
after i select x10 the only option i got is next and it tells me to turn off the phone pull battery out blah blah that's it

Could it be that if we disconnect our internet when we hold the back button/plug in, it wouldn't check the internet and allow us to reflash with the files on computer?

it just showed up, can you post a screenshot of what you get once you check for updates using SEUS?
yeh follow the guide, and put ur phoine into the update mode or whatever you call it, and i used SEUS for the first time when i did this

i was connected to the internet, it just completely skipped the download step for me, i dont know why, it prolly recognized the files in the folder, but close SEUS, and copy your rogers file into the folder, and this will overwrite the other 2 files
For me, i had to change the name of my rogers file to the files found in the folder, this is prolly because i reinstalled the Generic x10a firmware using SEUS first before i copied my files

thats strange i never got that message, is this the message your getting when you replaced the files in the folder with the rogers files ?

Nope, it's the message for trying to reinstall the unbranded firmware...

hmm try putting the rogers files into the folder and trying, maybe that will make a difference
but backup the files in the original folder

Same software version. No button other than exit.

Foxtel on Telstra HD afer win6.5 reflash?

Hi guys,
I've reflashed my rom recently with a new mob6.5 version. Looks great, but I don't now have access to Telstra bigpond or Foxtel.
Any help appreciated.
I've scanned the forum, and there was one mention of a file to download, but the link (rapidshare) is no longer working.
Anybody know how to browse the free telstra sites (or the address) and how to get the foxtel logo (or address) working?
I'm using Telstra as the carrier.
thanks.
bump, anybody out there that can help
I have the same problem.

I recognise that user....does ozaudi ring a bell?
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=463339
didn't seem to work.
It opens up the site (in ie) http://mobiletv.telstra.com/startAction.do?entry=portal
not working in ie, tried in Opera as well, still no luck.
In Opera, I get:
'to access Telstra mobile Foxtel you need a compatible 3G or Next g phone.
Call 125 111 (or 125 8880 for prepaid) for more information (call charges apply).
can anybody with a proper Telstra rom advise of the URL link that it takes you to (and also does it use IE, or Opera, or something else?)

That's me
You can use Opera to access Mobile Foxtel, but you have to change a couple of things.
You have to set the user string in Opera to be:
Touch HD T8285 Opera /9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)
and you have to make sure the proxy addresses are set to:
10.1.1.181:80
To make these changes, go to About:Config in Opera. Do a quick find for User and then down the list it will show "Custom User Agent" make the change in there. The proxy address is entered in the proxy section. Check "enable http 1.1 for proxy"
Make sure you save the changes.
The URL mentioned in this thread should then work. You can also go to wap.telstra.com/wap for the mobile bigpond website.

I've changed both the proxy and the string, but when I go to the URL per below, I still get the message:

Screen shots of config below:
Tried a reboot, but still no luck...
Your left hand screen shot doesn't go down far enough. There are three settings under "Enable HTTP 1.1 for proxy"
These are FTP Server, HTTP Server and HTTPS Server. In each of these three fields should be 10.1.1.181:80
I usually don't search for these bits, just go straight to the Proxy section and expand it.
Make sure there isn't a space either in the Custom User Agent field between Opera and /9.50 - I think I inadvertently put one in. You should only have to change what comes before the word Opera.
ok, so close, yet so far
I've done the extra mods, and removed the space. I can browse the http://wap.telstra.com/wap without problem, but when I click on Foxtel, I still get the same problem!
is there anyway to modify the ini file without having to view and scroll on screen? Is the file able to be copied to my pc?
I've never tried this before, but this is my Opera.ini file from Windows\Opera9
You should be able to just copy it into that folder while Opera isn't running.
I've attached it as Opera.txt - you'll have to rename it Opera.ini
nope, still no potatoe!!!
I wonder what it is... I copied down the file, renamed to ini, copied to the \windows\opera9 folder (and overwrote the existing one), then started opera....
browsed to the mobiletvetc URL, but got the same message
When you go to wap.telstra.com/wap, what page do you get?
The nice glossy Bigpond one or the old crappy WAP looking one?
sorry for the late reply... I get the nice one, easy to read etc.
Also, if I try to 'watch' and stories from the bigpond news, nothing happens. The status bar at the bottom start to display, then it disapears, and stays on the current screen.
I've just downloaded and installed V57 firmware, recopied over the opera.ini file to the \windows\opera9 folder, but still the same problem.....
If I press on the 'watch' icon, I now get the following...
interesting..... (and frustrating!)
I have posted my Opera.ini from a default Telstra ROM. Hopefully this will help you. I also located an opera1.ini which I have included. let me know how you go.
http://rapidshare.com/files/277063085/operaini.rar.html
Cheers
That fixed mine - thanks.
thanks mate...
Still no luck
I'll be buggered if I know what it is that's causing it...
Would you mind sending me your settings and setting1 files from the opera9\Settings folder?
...hold your horses.... it's working now!
I rebooted, then recopied down the files (both ini files) to the \windows\opera9 folder and it works!!
Many MANY thanks...
Hopefully this thread will help others as well
....maybe I spoke too soon....
I'm now getting 'This service is temporarily unavailable due to a technical issue. Please try again later. If problem persists call customer service on 125111 (or 1258880 for Prepaid) for assistance (call charges apply)....

Data/3g network fix for XT720_XDA_Special_STB2

First, make sure you have background data on in settings/accounts & sync
You can try Apn Manager to set your apn settings
if those don't
Find a fix here, it worked for me not sure if it's the best way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=16200053&postcount=365
My apn settings seems to work with only the data files of the first special stock (i don t do all the apn stuff)
But i have a lot of others issues
The first time i try it with out the data from the first special stock i had my google account and i had the phone process problem again....
I restore the data from nandroid and then the french language disapear......
ANd the biggest problem is that i can t connect my google account it always tell me that i don t have a network connection but all the other apps go to the net with out a problem...
And i have this problem only with the data from the first stock....
I maybe do something wrong... I install the nandroid image on the singapore sbf and my card is already part like it must be (fat 32 ext3 and swap).
I m right???? Maybe someone could make a new topic explaining all the step because it become more and more difficult to follow all the problems....
I don t try the boot.img or the others a2sd gui things...

Are you on wifi? Can you send pics via text or email? If you get that text document and find your apn settings from that list and add it to the text document then replace it /etc/apns-conf.xml you will get your data and 3g network back. I thought I had my network to cause I was able to text and make calls and stuff, but didn't. it only worked for calls and texts, not data. Also make sure you have background data turned on in settings

I would expect that to work.
Replacing apns-conf.xml file WORKED!!
here for everyone who isn't able to fix 3g - just download this file :
http://www.share-online.biz/dl/8DB1TBPLWR
this is the old apns-conf.xml file from xda special alfa_h ROM.. you need to delete old apns-conf.xml file in /etc/ directory (you get there by using root explorer & co) and copy this download-file there.. just reboot -> 3g / internet data should work now. if it doesn't , you can try wiping cache / data , for me it only worked after factory reset then..
and here are also those two data-files from x_special_alfa_h ROM, I don't know in what way they might be needed for 3g fix here, but just try copying them into sdcard/nandroid/OpenRecovery/XT720_XDA_Special_STB2 and then get into OR->nandroid->restore ALL

G1 - unroot effort gone wrong

I have bricked my G1 by following the below "guide"!
1. Loading the original SPL (Original SPL Download)
2. Downgrading your phone to RC29 ( Download Dream RC29 )
Before we start:
Check you have the downloaded files (SPL and RC29 files)
Check that your battery is fully loaded
Let’s start: First Part:
1. The SPL you downloaded, rename it to update.zip (If not already the name of the file)
2. Copy the file to the Root of your SD card.
3. Reboot the phone into recovery mode (This is done by “Power + Home” for several seconds)
If you have Amon-Ra Recovery, use the 3 option in the menu to flash the update.zip file
You can also update using “ALT+S“, and it will also update the update.zip file.
Second part:
1. Unzip the DREAMIMG-RC29 you downloaded before, “DREAIMG.nbh” (This is case sensitive, so respect the case in the file name”).
2. Copy the File to the root of your SD card
3. Turn off your phone
4. Turn on the phone into boot loader mode by pressing “Power + Camera” for several seconds.
5. After it’s up, hit power button to start the update.
6. After the upgrade is finish, restart your phone.
Here is what I did:
I downloaded both files put them at the same time on my sdcard and renamed the SPL file update.zip
I then went into clockworkmod recovery and applied sdcard update.
When this was installed I rebooted and then an android and a white box with a yellow arrow appeared.
The G1 then went into a boot loop and was stuck on the T-Mobile screen.
Rebooting into the bootloader is different now too, there seems to be no image.
Is this phone now ready to be binned?

hhhmmm.... it could be several things- The good news is that it looks like you are back to the stock hboot.
It looks like you are in Europe, so I think there is a slightly different version of the DREAMG.nbh file for the European G1. I think it's RC7, but I've never flashed it. If you have a US G1, then this probably doesn't apply.
http://koushikdutta.blurryfox.com/G1/DREAMIMG-RC7.zip
Here's the MD5 hash for the nbh file itself, not the zip. I calculated this from my version, since the original hash is buried somewhere on XDA.
MD5(DREAIMG.NBH)= 2f02dd9a3b7c7f2fe058047b9c7a0245
Oh, I hope thats good news!?!
I have downloaded the Rc7 file and put on the sd card.
What now?
Do I need to rename the file? Do a special boot sequence?
I have tried to flash the file via CWM but there is no change.
Thanks for your help
The RC7 file contains the DREAMIMG.nbh file. You should unzip it and verify the md5 hash, then place the DREAMIMG.nbh file on the root of the SD card and follow the "second part" from your guide.
I'm not sure if the NBH vs nbh will matter, but give it a try.
You Sir are a genius!!
Thank you so much for your help!
I put the RC7 file onto my SDcard (after opening up the zip folder and copying over the DREAMIMG.NBH file).
Next I rebooted to the red green and blue bootloader screen (powered off and then pressed power on and camera button together - HOLD). The image was then recognised by the G1 and it loaded up the progress bar. After installation was complete I pressed the trackball and then removed the battery and powered up the G1 one).

Awesome! I'm glad it worked out and another G1 was spared from the trash bin.
So chuffed, you have spared the G1 from the trash can!
I might keep it as standard now after all this agro!
I bought the G1 to basically add to a collection and it wont be used much.
In your personal opinion, is it necessary to root the G1 or is standard sufficient?
Also, I notice I am now back to firmware 1.0, what is the latest stock firmware for this phone and how easy is it to install?
Forgive me, my G1 knowledge is poor!
As far as stock or rooted, it depends on what you want to do with it. If you want to turn it into a mobile hotspot, I think you would have to root. I just keep mine around for flashing and testing android stuff and a backup phone.
I think there are OTA files that will take it to cupcake (1.5) or donut (1.6), although I'm not sure if they will work with the UK version? It's been so long that I'd have to think about how to flash the OTAs. You might have to dig into the archives of xda to find them, but watch out for the US/UK.
The custom roms are up to gingerbread, but I haven't tried those on my G1 so I can't speak to that.
You could make a rooted stock rom...
I am going to keep it stock for the time being.
I have just tried to get 1.6 Donut but I have to have 1.5 Cupcake on the G1 before I do.
I am now running 1.5 Cupcake but when I try and apply the update.zip for 1.6 Donut I get the below error.
Have you seen this before?
The 1.6 donut upgrade has a few things it checks to make sure it's not being flashed over the wrong rom since it just patches the existing rom. It's very strict, and in your case, it looks like you are applying a US donut over a UK cupcake, although it's hard to tell from just that bit.
You might get more info if you can pull the recovery log. If you are rooted, it should be in /cache/recovery/log or last_log. You can compare it to your ro.build.fingerprint in your system/build.prop file. My guess is all the "tmobile" are "tmuk" and the "kila" are "kila_uk". In which case, you'll need to find the uk donut OTA. You might be able to flash a complete US donut rom, but I don't know what the differences are between US/UK.
---------- Post added at 09:55 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 PM ----------
These might be the uk roms-
http://code.google.com/p/official-android-firmware/downloads/list
Ok, well that didn't last long.
I used the link you sent me but still couldn't get 1.6 flashed, so I rooted it again and loaded a developer version of 1.6 on!
Thanks for your guidance, much appreciated

[Q] CX919 II Firmware

Hey guys,
Hopefully someone can help me...
Background: I bought this CX919 II, setup the device so that it displays in 1080p, install XBMC, and it only shows 720p. Do a bit of reading and find out that it's probably upscaling and there's a separate 1080p firmware, so of I go...
Problem: So I flash the stick with the steps below, everything seems to go okay, except when I plug the stick back into the tv, nothing happens... How do I get my device back?
1 ) Download Rockchip Batch Tool and extract
2 ) Put the USB cable into theOTG port of the CX919 II, hold the reset button and plug it into the pc.
3 ) Windows looks for driver, I send it to the correct location, it finds the drivers, no problem
4) Add SUPPORTLOWUSB=TRUE and FULLSPEEDUSB=TRUE to the config.ini file (otherwise it doesn't detect the device)
5 ) Start Rockchip Batch Tool v1.7. It finds the device and shows a green box
6) I select the 1080p firmware (which I got here)
7) Click on the restore button and wait patiently for the success message
8) Success message is displayed.
9) Unplug device, plug device into tv
10) Device has power, but tv tells me that there is no device connected.
So, where did I go wrong? And how can I fix the device?
I did manage to get some sign of life by using this firmware (I assume that this is the manufaturer), except all I see with this are just four flashing penguins in the top left corner.
Before it died, this is what the software info looked like..

Hi
I've got the exact same issue as you. After trying to root my CX919 CYX_809III V5_2 I ended up with no HDMI signal :crying:
After downloading (so fare) 10 different firmware, I've only got one of them to show 4 flashing penguins in the top left corner.
Hopefully your linked firmware in post #2 will work. Had difficulty getting the download page loaded, but it seems like I'm able to download now through South Korean VPN.
I guess the file contains only one .img file to be flashed as system file in Rom Flash Tool.
Do you mind telling me what ROM you used to get correct Loader, parameter, misc, kernel, boot and recovery files.
Regards mjolne

If you have any problems, let me know. I'll share it with you via simpler methods.
I didn't use anything special, just used batch tool (which I think is included in the zip) to flash the firmware file, and everything worked.
Stick working again

I have the same one.
Seems to work okay as far as I've seen. Haven't had any problems, although I haven't found many ROM's that actually work for me to compare it to

Get Update from different carrier using SmartSwitch [Canadian]

This guide is for Canadian S6 and S6 edge owners who are with Rogers or Fido since the been waiting for Marshmallow update forever. However, This should work for for others as long as the TWO CARRIERS share the exact phone model, which is the case for all s6 in canadian market.
DO it on your own responsibility
Doing this will not delete your data or trigger knox ... However, its wise to backup with SmartSwitch before attempting so.
1- I assume that you running windows and have latest version of samsung smart switch installed (I tried it on Windows 10)
2- install Fiddler (Its used to capture HTTP traffic and we will use it to be man-in-the-middle between Smartswitch and Samsung servers)
https://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler
3- Install FiddlerScript Editor (we will use to write and edit script rules)
http://www.telerik.com/download/fiddler/fiddlerscript-editor
4- Open Fiddler go to Rules --> customize rules
delete everything and past whats in the txt file in the attachment
5 - In this we are interested in only two functionsin that script
the contact from SMARTSwitch to the Sever: Here instead my phone identify itself as Fido phone "FMC" to the server it pretend its Kodoo phone "KDO"
Code:
static function OnBeforeRequest(oSession: Session) {
if (oSession.uriContains("NF_DownloadBinaryInform")){
oSession.utilReplaceInRequest("FMC", "KDO");
}
}
the contact from the server to SMARTSwitch: Here i get replay from the server for Kodoo phone "KDO" but i pass it to SmartSwitch as Fido phone "FMC"
Code:
static function OnBeforeResponse(oSession: Session) {
if (oSession.uriContains("NF_Download")){
oSession.utilReplaceInResponse("KDO","FMC");
}
}
6- Now safe and restart Fiddler
- Also when you open Fiddler go to File -> Capture traffic
make sure its checked
- Also make sure that fiddler can access HTTPS traffic by going to Tools--> Fiddler options --> HTTPS tab
make sure that 'capture HTTPS connect" and "decrypt https traffic" are both checked
7- Another thing worth mentioning, in Smart Switch > More > Preferences > Software update you have to deactivate Latest software Pre-Download
if you keep that option checked, the download will start in background before you click the update button, and procedure will end in error too;
8- Start SmartSwitch and plug your phone.
9- Click on the Update button
10- after Smart switch is offering the update download, accept the terms of update, then immediately when download start preperation, fidller must be closed. it is very crucial that Fiddler be turned off at just the right time otherwise you will get an error ;
Note: those are the codes for Canadian Carriers:
- Fido: FMC
- Koodo : KDO
-Rogers: RWC
-Bell: BMC
- Wind: GLW
-Telus: TLS
- Virgin: VMC
-Sasktel: BWA
-EastLink: ESK
- Vidéotron: VTR
This page will show you latest update from carriers for the S6

How do I find out, from which carrier do I have my phone? I am using unlocked Canadian S6 in Czech Republic.
This method worked for me on Rogers Galaxy S6. I am currently running 6.0.1. I used TLS as the update carrier.

If the phone is not rooted, only unlocked... then you should have some apps on the phone from the carrier still. If you are with Rogers, there will be Rogers apps on the phone, if you have a Bell phone then Bell apps... etc, etc

You're right, I have some Rogers applications installed, but disabled.
My Rogers S6 updated quite nicely with this method. I used TLS as the provider in the script attached to the first post.
I had to try this a couple of times to get Fiddler turned off at the right time. Eventually it started downloading the update though and then it all worked great. I just did the update today, but everything seems to be working fine so far.
I used a Windows 10 computer and ran the Fiddler program and Smart Switch by right-clicking and running as administrator. I also used the WINCONFIG button on Fiddler and "enabled all" in that dialog box. Not sure if that is what made the difference. Also, after installing Fiddler and configuring the script with the TLS and RWC changes, I restarted the computer just to make sure all changes took effect properly.
Also updated Smart Switch to the latest version.
Good luck...

I am using this version, flashed a few weeks ago via Odin, is it the latest version I can get, or there is already newer one?
Thanks for your help guys!

We only trick samsung servers that your phone belong to a different carrier thats all, so if the update has new CSC you also get the new one. so when later your own carrier release an update you will still get it over the wifi
