[Q] Open MMS image in portrait, not landscape - Windows Mobile

Hi all
I'm using manila 2.5.2012.1225 packages and Arcsoft MMS 5 0 43 98R6, HTC Messaging Client 1 5 20113831 0 and HTC Message 1 09 281 2.
On receiving an MMS if I tap the image to open it my phone switches to landscape to view the image. When I close the image my phone remains in landscape. Anyone know of a setting to make the image open in portrait instead of landscape?
Thanks
millski

why are you using both arcsoft mms and htc messaging client? just curious since they both do the same thing

lol im also using booth those packages
if i left one out mms wouldnt work out of the box for me and booth in solved the problem for me
not that it matters anymore since im using tmobile now

Thought arcsoft client was a dependency of htc messaging. Don't know why I thought that, i've just always cooked both in and it's always worked. Anyway: disabling the landscape on mms opening? Anybody know how?

SMS Threader and MMS

Hello everyone,
Im using that palm sms threader on my cingular 8525 and everytime I go to send a new MMS it says that I am out of memeory....but I am not at all...
so I wanted to reinstall my arcsoft mms...
can someone post a link to an arcsoft mms cab? all the links I searched online are dead.
Thanks!
I also would like to get that program.
either that or someone can help me solve the out of memory error when sending an MMS? It shows up all the time, even when no other programs are opened at startup...
please help.
I have the same issue when I use the Palm SMS app, but for some reason my girlfriend doesn't. We both have 8525's mine has vp3g's WM6 on it and my girlfriend has just the standard at&t rom image. Even when we both had the same rom I still had issues that I couldn't figure out, like it wouldn't link from the camera and the out of memory issue
what are you using for mms then?
Unfortunatly I went back to the default app. I like the Palm app alot, but I moblog at work for something to do and I send around 15 pix a night, so not having mms is a real issue. I don't want to have to use email or some other type of setup, I paid for a phone that does mms and by gosh I am gonna use it!!

HTC Home plugin + MMS

I wasn't sure if there was something covering a fix for this issue...
If you install the 5 tab HTC Home and you have the MMS app installed, the email button on the Home sends you the MMS regardless of what you do.
If you have the 3 tab version however, it will bring you to the selection screen of messaging (if you have it set to Display account picker).
If anyone knows of a fix or has a fix for this issue, I would love to find out I would like to use the 5 tab version, but this annoys me too much to keep it. I have looked around in the HTC Home section of the registry and didn't see anything that stood out for that option.
Does anyone know where I can get ArcSoft's MMS Composer v. 4.0 cab file? It is really much improved. I've tried it on my TyTN. It combines SMS and MMS in one and checks one's address book for the appropriate phone numbers when MMSing.
I check ArcSoft's site and could not find it.
At one point it was floating around at ppcgeeks, but it would not work. It was sending additional information when trying to send a message. The Sprint server was rejecting everything that was coming from the v.4 app. None of the registry settings that were modified seemed to of fixed it.
I've just seen that the 6 tab is finally out, so we'll have to throw that one in as well.
I haven't tried the 6-tab version... does it have the same results as the 5-tab?

I'd sure like to try it anyway. I have tried a v 3.0+ which was made for the Apache. It worked well but it wasn't perfect. It would give you the option of sending some kind of pic message that Verizon uses but Sprint doesn't. When the MMS option was chosen, it worked great. I tried to post this .cab file, but this site wouldn't let me.
Adding another email account worked for me
I just added my yahoo email account, and when I tap on the mail icon, it now brings me to the screen giving me the choice to choose Text Message, MMS, Outlook Email, & now my Yahoo email (not exactly in that order).
Thanks for the fix as this was killing me.
Still a problem?
I have the 6-tab version and have this same issue. One icon opens text messages and the other MMS messages. Is there any way to change these to open the email? MMS is useless to me.

Is it possible to send MMS on the Sprint Touch?

I have been trying to get my Touch to send and receive MMS but I can't get it to work. I have tried every hack and regedit on PPCgeeks but have had no luck. Does anyone here know of a way to get MMS working on the Touch?
Thanks in advance guys.
PS, here is a list of all of the software I have installed on my Touch. Maybe it will help someone know what is causing my problem here:
HTC Streaming Media
HTC Action Screen
PocketCM Keyboard 0.12
Happy Tapping Keyboard
thisguyinoc CubeConfig
OZ Instant Messaging
Weatherpanel
Resco Keyboard Pro
Resco Explorer
Resco Registry Add-in
WM6 Palm Threaded SMS
Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool
HTC Audio Manager
HTC Home Customizer
HTC Home Plugin Kaizer 6 Tab
Hope that helps and I hope someone here can help me.
Using the built in SMS app and also trying Palm threaded SMS, I am not able to send or receive MMS at all unless it has been sent to my yahoo account and automatically downloads the attachments. Anybody have any idea how to bypass this?
I have tried this hack here: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=621
But with no luck.
Does noone here care enough about MMS to try to get it working on our Touch's?

I already tried that but with no luck. Thanks for the suggestion though. I have it downloaded 2 times on my computer for 2 different versions, the new one and the old one.
Unfortunately neither of them worked for me. I think for now I can live without MMS but I think this is a valid topic for discussion and something that needs to be remedied more effectively. A custom ROM with ArcSoft MMS 4.2.8.1 would probably do it. I used to have a T-Mobile MDA-AKA-HTC Wizard and I would flash custom ROMs every so often and all of them had working MMS built right into ROM.
I would like to have MMS because my fiance has MMS on her Sprint Upstage and being able to send and receive MMS from her would be nice.
I think it is a project that should be looked at a little more.
did your wizard allow you to send mms from text before?
i use email to phone email to send pics and such from the touch..

Yes my Wizard had Arcsoft composer 4.2.8.1 with MMS and SMS together in one application but separated and it did allow me to send MMS without having to use e-mail at all.
I did manage to get my Touch sending MMS without using e-mail though. I just performed a hard-reset and then installed the MMS quick fix from PPCGeeks and it works now but MMS won't go directly to the phone they're being sent to, they have to download the MMS to their phone through a link in their SMS.
I think that if someone can cook a ROM with ArcSoft Composer 4.2.8.1 the same way it was cooked into the Wizard ROM I was using, we would have no problems with MMS. I just don't have any knowledge of building ROMs and I have tried to learn before but I just can't seem to pick it up.

hey, i know this doesnt sound like the best method to solve your issue... when i first got my touch (sprint) i tried the arcsoft from ppcgeeks and i kept getting an error. wouldnt send. problems connetions or sumthin. i dd a hard rest, went back to original unboxed settings (no apps what so ever) and i installed arcsoft... did a soft reset, still had a problem, waited about an hour, and boom it worked... idk what it did but i installed everything else that i had and it still works perfectly... good luck!

Yes I hard reset and then reinstalled the arcsoft MMS app from PPCGeeks and then I was able to send MMS. The recipient I sent them to only received a link to the file I sent that she could download from the internet but I was able to send the image to the sprint server for her to download.
Once I had that installed, I then reinstalled Palm Threaded SMS and my MMS still worked fine.

It works reasonably well. There are a few things I would change about it if I knew how. For example: The panel where you see what you are typing is covered by the onscreen keyboard and the the text messages display in a linear fashion with the newest at the bottom, also covered by the onscreen keyboard. Also the installation wipes out the outlook SMS app and the registry is kinda glitchy. It will sometimes not show the notification icon or will not show the counter on the home plugin and sometimes none at all.
If it was up to me and I knew how to modify the code, I would invert the application with the text input panel at the top and newest text messages displaying in a linear fashion from top to bottom. I would also fix the registry so that it is more stable.
Personally, I do not have these skills as I think that it would make a great addition to our Vogues.
You can find a link to the download for the WM6 version under one of my posts in the Vogue Upgrading thread.
For me
Sprint ONLY allows the receiving mms from others VIA a sprint website link...
Its not up to an app, thats just how sprint does it...
Is there any way to get MMS on the Bell Mobility version of the Touch? My plan includes unlimited picture and text messaging and would like to use it with my wife who is using a "regular" phone.
im with bell in canada as well, and have been dying to try out mms, but i just cant seem to get it, i have the unlimited data plan so i dont mind using a "threaded" service, but im kind of a noob at the whole "threaded" thing....but yes, if someone could possibly help me out with installing mms on a bell touch that would b great... i tried a few months ago with arcsoft, and unlocked the registry and added new bell settings, but i dont know why, they just didnt work either because the settings were wrong or something else...any advice/input would be greatly appreciated
i have the arcsoft mms app installed on my touch and it sends the pictures... but no one ever receives them... any ideas?
i had the same thing on my mogul and it worked fine... but now...
pleaseeeeee!
I have a working CAB install of Arcsoft 3.0.26.12C that I pulled from the Alltel Touch. It has been confirmed to work on the Sprint Mogul, and the Sprint Touch. You can find it on my site by clicking here.

HTC Messaging On HTC HD2 Issue

I know this has been discussed numerous times prior to this handset being released, and that HTC messaging has been cause various amounts of lag when the sms count is more then 20+ for one contact.
Im thinking everyone like me thought this issue would be fixed when the HD2 came out, with its 'power'. But I guess it had nothing to do with how powerful a processor you needed, but good programming, and ram allocation.
I've disabled htc sense, and used the default windows mobile 6.5 interface, but this still uses htc messaging.
So I tried to disable htc messaging using that tweak posted previously. It didn't work. When I clicked on a message in the message tab, nothing happened.
Has anyone with a hd2 emailed htc about this issue? I can't believe we still have this problem.
same here. would really like to go back to native wm threaded messages without disabling the Sense itself which is great..
HTC messaging disable
just google zenyee disable messaging and you will find what you are looking for....i had the same problem...i keep over 400 msgs in my inbox and it just slowed down like crazy...used the cab file on the site and its working perfectly...both sense and standard 6.5 messaging.
check it out.

From my first post, I have already tried to use this cab, and it didnt work.
htc should just put a limit to the number of SMS messages to be shown when you open a contact's sms page. For example 20 messages shown immediately and if/when you need to read past messages, you just tap on a "show more messages" button on top of the sms list.. that should work wonderfully..
1.2 from here works for me, but i cant get it to be threaded..

now this should work, right? like on the iphone... the old messages will simply be archived. is there any tweak to do that?
Sounds like it would be an awesome idea. Or just port manila's 2.1 htc messaging.
Otherwise, the quick fix, all you do is push the keyboard logo, then you can compose a text right away.
Beats disabling htc messaging, and going back to the ugly default windows messaging.

I've tried both of these and neither work for me. I'd love to just have the normal WM SMS editor back!! (and no threading either)
I'd also love to get the damn album saving to \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures as well... another #htcfail !!
Disable HTC Messaging on HD2
The Zenyee Disable HTC Messaging 1.2 cab works as it says it would, ie default back to MS messaging system & the HTC messaging is no mas.
However, when tapping on a message from the text tab in sence, it does nothing (as it said it would), but there has to be a registry tweak to over come this.
Also, MMS is also no mas! This is a problem for me. I have installed, Arcsoftmms 5.0.31.7.us.cab with not luck. MMS messages go no where.
I have tried Arcsoft MMS composer WWE, also with no luck. This creates the MMS tab under menu/new/ sms or mms. It gives the old Windows CE look of MMS.
Voice command actually reads incoming text messages (which is a plus)
The TellMe app actually sends a dictated text (also a plus) with the Zenyee cab installed.
The lack of MMS is a no deal for me.
So, I recall my HTC HD days with the MIRI ROMS and the Energy ROMS. Miri (as well as Xanny Tech ROMS) roms had an option of ROMS without HTC messaging. These ROMs had the old 2.1 HTC Messaging (everything else M2.5) & WM messaging combined & MMS was present. The energy ROMS actually had both WM & the new HTC messaging enabled (with MMS).
My questions are: is there something I'm missing with this Zenyee cab and enabling MMS? Can I have both HTC messaging & WM messaging with MMS? I would be satisfied with this stock ROM (For now) if answered.
Please Help,
Todd

I usually post on ppcgeeks but while doing a search, it led me hear and thought to chime in. The standard fix for SMS/MMS issues is to install Zenyees cab to disable messaging, reset, install Picturemail removal cab, reset, and install Arcsoft cab for your carrier. Ever since the 2.5 cooked roms have come out, this has always fixed the sms/mms problems. Tap "all messages" from the messaging screen and you should be good to go. if have previous sms from backup data, it may not all thread but any new messages from here on should be threaded.
hope that helps.
hi any print shot for the final look of how the thread look like?
Anyone having issues with installing the Remove PictureMail & Arcsoft.cab? For some reason it wont install the 12kb
i cant install and disable everything still cannot install Remove PictureMail & Arcsoft.cab

The Arcsoft cab did not work for me on the HD2. it just does not play well with the inbox.
If anyone got this to work, please let us know how
I cannot get HTC Messaging disabled using the 1.2 cab, no matter what the MessagingService.dll seems to load on startup regardless of whether it's entry in HKLM\services\MSG is removed or renamed manually or with the cab. And when I go into the Windows folder to try and rename the file, it tells me I can't as it's loaded into Rom.
I'm on 1.48, could someone point out a fix for this please?
no helper???
There's an SMS Hotfix on the HTC site - maybe it helps?

Htc messaging Idea

As all of you know the problem of Slow Messaging client in Leo/HD2 ..
i was wondering if our chefs could port messaging application from HD/Blackstone. As before hd2 i had HD. and it never gave me any Trouble with the messaging client. it was fast. Only problem with hd was its Slow Camera.
or if our chefs can make a program to show only 10 or 15 msgs at a time. this will save the time and will help the messaging client to run fast n smoothly.
no one ere is getting trouble with htc messaging client??????????
would like to see that too
you can use energy rom since there is NO CAB yet developed to disable htc messaging and not break other functions...
try this one. u can uninstall it to revert back to default htc messaging client

I have tried this, and whilst it does give you the default WM messaging, which is great, it stops the MMS services from working. (I could see the message, but I couldn't see the picture/attachment, nor could I create an MMS to send). So I ended up uninstalling ZenYee and reverting to the HTC messaging client!

Thanks for your reviews but zenyee cab does not solve the issue of this thread.
We want wm6.1 sense 2.1 manila mod ported into wm6.5 sense 2.5 manila.
i know everything is totally different in these manila versions but i still think we can extract the messaging application from sense 2.1
No one want this?
