How to stop WiFi to go off when listening to internet radio? - HD Mini General

Hi,
Do you know what settings to use to stop the device to go off forcing WiFi to disconnect when listening to internet radio?
Thanks in advance.

Download and install BsB Tweaks (search this forum for the download link). Once installed, check "WiFi Standby" to keep WiFi working when phone goes standby. Pretty sure it will resolve the problem.

Thanks for your reply. I have installed BsB Tweaks (use it also to do soft-resets!, without having all the time to take the battery off ..), but discovered that if I have the exchange email 'Direct Push' ON it also prevents that the wifi get disconnected.

How to disable Wireless G 8125?

Please help.
Are you talking about GPRS? If so, search the forums for a program called-"NoDATA", download and install it and voila! That, or just dont enter your connection details in settings.
No. The wireless G. The wi-fi connection thingy. Cause lately, whenever I would awake my 8125 with standby mode, the wi-fi would be searching then stop and show the available networks. When it was default ROM (WM5) it would always connect to my wi-fi at home and not search for other places all the time.
Goto your Comm Manager and turn it off? Seriously, that is strange, I have never heard of WiFi constantly searching whenever you bring your phone out of sleep.
you can't turn off wirelesss g on com manager. I heard thers a registry edit to enable it but I wanna disable it. yeah. right when I installed the daimonds clean and fast rom, it started searching for wifi when it gets off sleep. when I had wm5, it was all good.

WiFi is turned on automatically on boot

Everytime I boot Windows Mobile 6.1 on my HTC Touch Diamond, WiFi automatically turns on. I do NOT want it to turn on. I have searched the forum for a solution, but can't find one. It doesn't seem to exist a register entry where I can control this, and I cannot find an app which can turn wifi off for WM6.1.
I have removed everything from the autostart, so I am sure it is none of those apps that is turning wifi on.
Any suggestions?

Do you have a vpn client installed? That was the reason my HD did that too.
Solved it by putting a link to Wifi_ON-OFF into \Windows\Startup.
BTW thread is misplaced here, should be in Diamond general forum.
ive also experiencced this with a few roms for elfin

I have Bluefire VPN client installed. Tried to uninstall it (that ****ed up the Windows uninstall manager which caused the it to hang), but after som manual register clean up I had it uninstalled.
After reboot, WiFi is no longer being turned on! Thank you! This has been driving me insane
Think it is a bit weird though. Does the VPN client register a silent service on install which turns WiFi on? If so, where is this service registred in WM?
Btw, thanks for the wifi_on-off tip! Have been looking for such app since VJVolubilis wifi-option doesn't work for WM6.x.

Yes, it's Bluefire that turns on WiFi on reboot. Anyway, i need it for company access so uninstalling wasnt an option. But works fine with the wifi_on-off in startup, no more unsolicited WiFi on my device

problem disconnecting data connection

Hi - I cant seem to get this to work correctly.
I have 2 email accounts set up to connect to and get new emails from every hour.
I have advanced config set up to disconnect my data connection after 1 min. But still it is very random weather it works or not. Sometimes yes most times no (still connected 2 hours later).
I have tried running HD tweak with the same settings but no luck. I have tried HDtweak on its own and both together.
I have also tried changing the time to 2mins or 5 mins.
Does anyone else have this problem? It just does not seem very reliable at all.
Any help would be amazing.
Thanks
anyone any ideas?
Still looking for some help on this one if anyone would be kind enough??
Well, I'm not aware of additional apps that resolves this automatically but the fastest way manually to disconnect is to use the Long End Press Button to disconnect.
Just a thought for the meantime....
Thanks but that is not really practical every 30 mins or so when your phone receives new emails. I cannot believe this amazing phone has such a strange short fall. For people with data shortages on their tarrifs this must be a nightmare?
I suggest to disable data connections in sleep mode. This can be fond under phone->settings->data
If data tab is not available, you can enable it using a cab called "Dutty enable data tab" or something similar (search the forums).
This cab works only for certain ROMs. I am using XNOR and it works perfectly.
Please note that your activesync will continue synchronising as programmed. and automatically disconnecting after.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried searching for this .cab but cannot find it, does anyone have a link to it? I am also using XNOR so it should be a great fix. Thanks

Not to worry, I have found it. Thanks for all the help/suggestions.
xx
I guess you already noticed the battery life improvement.... don't you?
I have this same problem with no fix yet. With the cab that disallows data in sleep mode, wouldn't your auto email check not work or am I not understanding what that cab does?
Thanks,
Ho'okani
Wow, with that cab the battery life really is longer!!! thnx!

Why does my HD2 keep connecting to the internet? (on its own)

Every now and then, I notice that my phone connects to the internet (t-mobile internet). I find this strange because I've disabled everything (i can think of) from automatically updating or connecting (weather, email and msMyPhone). I have an unlimited data plan so I'm not particularly worried about the cost; however, it drains my battery fast. Just yesterday, I tapped the top of the screen to see my notifications and I noticed that t-mobile internet had been connected for over 2 hours. I just can’t figure out the cause. I've even done the auto disconnect registry tweak (auto disconnect after 60 seconds) but still no joy. If anyone can help or even suggest a process monitoring application, I’d be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Did you disable the rest of the services ( HTC location service, stocks, Internet time sync, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube as well ? In my case the Stock were causing unwanted connections before I figured out..

I think stock was the culprit. I removed it from the home tab from day one and as a result couldnt access it's settings. I put it back on and sure enough it was connecting every 30 mins.
Thanks alot mate. I'll report back in a day or two with the results, though I'm pretty certain it was the stock application.
If you want to be able to turn internet off so it cant connect when you dont want it to then just install the attached cab, run the program then you can enable or disable both settings as appropriate.
I also recommend to use NoData.
Just go to settings->wireless control->connection->advance->select network(choose my work connection if you havent rename it yet) If you would like to use hsdpa/edge/gprs again you will have to change it to as it was before.

Got a brand new HD2 and each time I install NoData, I get an error. What should I do to fix this please?
What's the error message you are getting?

Even better, you can use Dial-up Enabler/Disabler: works like nodata but interface is a little better and is more user friendly ;-)

Pls note that with nodata, you disable the internet connection but, if the connection is active while disabling it, you still need to end it manually after exiting nodata.
This sounds weird I know...
With dial-up enabler/dsabler it is a lot easier as you will see two connections: one is the internet connection configured on your phone and the other is the current active connection, and you can disable them at the same time.
In addition it does not have annoying confirmation messages on disabling and exiting

how do u do auto disconnection tweak
HD2 connection problem
Connect your HD2 to your computer and transfer the cad file to your mobile.
Find the file on your phone using File Explorer (on the phone).
Double click on it and follow the instructions.
Then go to Start and locate the nodata programme.
Start it and disable what you want.
I disabled the Orange (in my case) internet connection and WAP.
In my case it is crucial that I donet't g automatic access to internet services when I roam because I am on a PAYG tariff.
£20 last me up to three months normally with a different phone (SIC) and since I started using my HD2 my last top up lasted me less than a week.
It's a rip-off!
Once beaten, twice shy...
I won't be caught again!
Hope this helps

data connection

how can i do that my data connection stay alive when i standby the device?
(for example holding icq or fim working in standby)
i found something that does exactly this with WiFi but not with data connections...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=636656 in this thread the seventh app
When you say data connection do you mean Wifi?
To keep wifi you can use any register editor (SKTools for example). Then search for this entry "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\BCMSDDHD1\Parms".
When you've found it look for a key named "HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended=0" and modify the 0 and type 1. It must be like this: HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended=1
I did this way and it worked. Anyways if you are not sure how to do it you can search for a .cab "WiFi Stay Awake" that do the step above.
You must be aware that use this trick to enable wifi while staying in "stand by" drains your battery faster and depending how much you use your htc mega won't last for a day. Hope this help
no i dont mean wifi i mean the internet connection
on german its called "Datenverbindung" in english this would be data connection that why i wrote that
but i mean the internet (GPRS/EDGE/HSDPA)
the connection closes when i lock my phone and turn display off (standby i guess)
Oh, I looked at the 7th app and saw "7th cab - Makes ur WiFi stay awake when the phone get's locked , usefull when using Skype(or similar) or dont want to connect/disconnect/reconnect every time u leave it for a minute and it goes in standby". That's why I thought that.
I'm not sure then because I don't use data connection but maybe there is an entry like the "HTCKeepWifiOnWhenUnattended". Try to look @ it.
ok i searched but didn't found anything...
nobody any idea?..
