Epic idea :D - Hero CDMA General

So I was browsing youtube..just going from video to video.
Found something very interesting, something that allows multitasking on the iphone (well more or less.)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=snXCC9mTvI4&NR=1
It's proswitcher, it mocks webOS's card multitasking. Imagine this on the android..
I mean if someone can develop that for the iphone which is pretty limited to begin with.. why the hell not for android you know?
What do you guys think?

It is a good idea! I've used that before on my touch, I think it would be cooler with a "expose" type of layout or like "leap".

[APP] Anyone seen this EYE poping & AMAZIG APP??

An app for the iPhone that simulates a lighter. Yup, you heard that right. So why is it all the rage in Europe and Japan? Read on.
This is insane.
iPhone users all over Europe and Japan have been going ga-ga over a new app released by a company called Smule. Basically, "Sonic Lighter" is software that displays a virtual lighter on your iPhone; with e-flames blazing on your phone's screen. And yes, the flame "sways" depending on how you move your phone. The main attraction though is something else.
The app is location-aware: if you choose, you can display your location on a virtual globe. When you do so, and when you run the app, you show up as a flame shaped blip on this map. The more you run the app, the more "kilojoules" you burn -- which further brightens your area on the globe. When you're done for the day, just blow on the microphone to "extinguish" the flame. For those who think it's not cool enough, you can ignite other lighters on iPhones near you.
Not satisfied? Have a look at this:

WILL IT BE AVAILABLE FOR OUR HTC TOUCH DIAMOND????

well thats useless .. but also fun! .. i put these apps from time to time to have fun with my little brother & sister lol
i wouldnt mind to get this app on my diamond
The brilliant thing is, is that the Diamond is perfectly capable of doing this is someone was willing to create the application. The only reason we don't see as many cool applications as there are for the iPhone, is because there is little to no advertising to draw the consumers in, and there's no officially released SDK for the sensors on the Diamond.
The Diamond does actually havemore hardware based sensors than the iPhone does, and it also has the added advantage of being able to run programs made by any random user with a compiler handy.

X2?

Hope this isn't real, kinda ugly
http://www.engadget.com/2009/06/03/sony-ericsson-x2-spotted/
lol if that is the x2, i guess my x1 will wait til the x5 is released to get a baby sister
Fugly. I'd rather get a TP2, than get that.
I hope it's fake :/
Thats fugly )
Haha I was going to post this right now. Thumbs up for Engadget lurkers .
It is kinda ugly. The TP2 is 10 times better looking, BUT wait for the hardware specs first hehe....
NOOOOOOOOOO WAYYYYYYYYY !!! that's a big disaster... if that's real I'd be really disappointed the only good features I saw are the arrows on the KB
People, that X2 has a Windows-Key. I think SE was not gonna use WM on the X2.

the look is not too bad... but what I was waiting for was a bigger screen I mean we got res 800x480 and a little screen, that's a big mess All what I wanted is that and certainly it wasn't made.
that keyboard looks disgusting
anybody can confirm that this is the final device and not just a prototype
i like the bigger screen and more usable keyboard but the design seems like a step backword

The keyboard will look good, for sure. SE will not release a bad looking device.
As for OS - who said it will be Android? SE just confirmed they use it,
but I also heard Xnext will be WM... Hopefully!

we already know the x2 is a wm6.5 device as that information was leaked a while back when a companies ceo told some website that they lost the deal to use there software on the x2 to some google software.
ps. if u save the pic and then zoom in, u will notice that the bottom right seems to have a bit missing compared to the bottom right and on the far left, which would point to a mock up or early prototype cg pic
Why go back in design? Looks like a toy compared to X1. Damn fugly.

even if this is a current pic of the x2. there is still probally 6 months till release and a lot can change in the design. the specs are more important at this point
Look at the pic below, the bits i pointed out in earler post. may be just how they did the pic but looks like a prototype cg pic/mock up.
ps. although this may be a mock-up / prototype cg pic it way still be the current design of the x2.

now if they could just get em to market asap?!

Ever since the X1, i'm getting pretty wary of keyboards.
I heard that it is gonna be a 2.55 inch QVGA display, so the keyboard probably be too small to be useful?
cm'on it's horrible

why is the hd2 such a dissapointment?

as the title goes. i have had this thing sibce it came out and i have had to so much to make it decent. with such great hardware, why does it lack great looking games? i had an iphone 3g and its games are great. i mean my hd2 is more powerfull than that and its games look worse than iphone. why?

WinMo
If HTC would rerelease HD2 as a rebranded Android phone, this phone would sell like hotcakes considering that it is now a free phone.
Shame to hear you are disappointed, I only can say good things about my Leo
I guess each one has very different experiences regarding same device
id have to agree with jerryparid. the hd2 in general is an awesome piece of kit, purely let down by the OS.
running linux, and android, this thing is a little beaut! (thanks to the guys in the forum for making that a possibility)
Actually the PSX games run so smooth (60fps) on the HD2 the games on the HD2 blow away the games on other systems. I was shocked when I saw the PSX emulator on the HD2. Ran better then a real PSX. Plus you can actually hook up a PS3 BT controller to it and game with a real pad I say HD2 gaming is far far superior to iphone or android. Native games don't seem to have much development because 1. WP7 is coming and will bump specs up really high. Its easy to dev for a small number of phones with limited specs, but WM has 1000's of phones a year come out with specs of all types from 200mhz to 1ghz. If you were to really develop a real game like the iphone for WM you would only have like 4 phones that could run it. Then the 1000 phones that couldn't run it would all be pissed. With iphone they all have the same 1 phone so thats not an issue. With android the oldest phone is a year old so their specs are more refined. Hope this explains how to get better games you will be happy with and why there aren't as many great native games on WM. Once you get the proper rom loaded and it tweaked right the HD2 kicks ass and is super stable. I hope you put the work in to get yours where you need it. If you do I'm sure you will be very happy with it and can hold out till we get a working copy of Android on it.

It's as some of the others say, it's an OS-level problem. iOS simply allows for much better game design, which is why games on iPhone tend to look better than they do on other smartphone OSes.
WinMo is a very established OS, but without a good underlying design, programing something spectacular for it is very tough. This is not a problem exclusive to WinMo, but I think WinMo epitomizes the problem very well. When your OS requires a 1Ghz CPU just to get anywhere close to the smoothness of a phone using a 412Mhz CPU, there is a serious problem.
When your OS requires phone manufacturers to develop custom UIs to make usability better, there is an even worse problem.

I very recently bought a TP2 and a HD2.
Despite the noticeably slower Sense and smaller screen I'll be keeping the TP2 and selling the HD2.
I still feel keyboard is a massive win over touch screen & Swype.
Also I've not been to impressed with the stability of big time roms for the HD2 so I've only been using official roms.

[WHEN] WP7 & iPhone screen responsiveness for Android?

Ok, by now everyone here should have had time to play with a WP7 right? Have you noticed how responsive the WP7 screen is to touch? It's so smooth and responsive. It's almost like the screen wants to move faster than your finger...
My question is, Why isn't Android like this? And when will it be like this, if ever?
Android obviously has some lag in that department. I can't imagine it's a hardware issue being that HTC is building most of the WP7 devices.
If WP7 and iPhone can do it, why can't we?

It's his opinion of course.
My opinion: Android was originally built to compete with BB OS (if you look at early photos of Android it was more BB OS like: track ball/pad dependent, crappy menu'ing system, etc.). iOS soon came out and became a success; Android was then forced to adapt to a new style. HW acceleration was probably not in their plans at first and even when it became an issue/important, they needed to adapt Android's core to compete with iOS and just be a touch friendly OS in general. Honeycomb seems to be the update that levels out the experience/Android as a more touch friendly, iOS aligned OS - HW acceleration, less HW button dependence, eliminating/minimizing the menu'ing system, etc.
Is honeycomb only for tablets? Why have I been reading on Engadget that honeycomb is only going to be for tablets?

I don't think anyone has specifically said that Honeycomb is also for phones; I've only heard that what you see on Honeycomb is the direction that Android is heading for in the future which includes phones. So you'll probably see a lot of the features (the ones that are able to scale down to phones) like HW acceleration, UI tweaks, etc. on a future Android update. Rumor is that update is ice cream and is coming in the spring/summer.
A good sign of that is the new Sony Arc phone. There's been screen shots of it running 2.4 and one thing that stood out like crazy was the inclusion of a super wide screen display that seems to include in display software buttons for Home, back, etc. - just like in Honeycomb.

I think user is really important. I man my battleship daily and sometimes my finger misses. How does hdmi interact with user? I always have to wonder if it's due to touch or hdmi. My exp are better in cm7 than cm 6 but in video like utube I really see no difference if it is a question of quality. I think attention goes both to sound and video in usual use. So does it effect games?
If HDMI should be faster, it should be for its own reason. So, we will see it in games, in tv, and others (as we do).
Look at the the flip camera. Enlarge and you can see it should be built into the cm too.
You cannot see it with the naked eye in games. I say this because I have a very good eye. When you enlarge, you can see. But for games, they do not scale this way for seeing. Once we try to enjoy on a real scale the problem becomes apparent. I don't know the cause, it could be kernel; it could be hdmi. But with pictures and video hdmi is new standard. Old tvs might have been fine (better?) with out it but they changed it all now so we need hdmi for video and photo.
Evo is very small but for projection it is essential to top quality mobile presentation. It should be offloaded to the peripheral tho is that possible? There is no use in such fine detail in so small screen.

Too complicated for developers to tackle, but I agree 100%. Don't get me wrong, I would never use either of those platforms due to how much I love being on rooted android. But it is so much smoother, and I hope Gingerbread combats this.
