shiwantha tell us after you purchase your phone on DUBAI CITY CENTER and after they install MARKETPLACE how is it work and they can download all application on the marketplace with out any problem..
ok

Can you please tell me how much is the X10 price in UAE?
I live in Qatar and i intended to buy it from eBay for 600USD cause it's not available here yet, but i can arrange to get it from Dabai if it's cheaper there.

@ junexyz
I didn't went to city center to ask whether they add market place, Instead I debranted by phone last night, now i have market place. I was installing software all day. now only thing left is 2.1 version with rooting.
read this to see what we tried to achive market in the phone
the android market is missing in my X10
@ Mostaqeel
I bought the phone form Sony Agent Jumbos in the first day they all officials confirmed X10 is available in UAE for AED 3,000/- (around USD 820). personally I don't go for ebay like stuff for this, It might be Chinese. since you are buying expensive one like this, go for genuine sources with warranty.

Follow this link to get an idea of the normal method and download 2 files required.
As per the tutorial you need SEUS, but when you try those steps on SEUS it says software is up to-date and no option to repair.
Alternative is to install Sony Ericsson PC Companion. Download link from here
Steps.
Bank up all your phone content.
In the PC companion click on Support Zone and try to update & it will tell you software is up to date. but there you will find repair option. Do the repair. (If you failure in the process check your firewall and try to run application as admin.)
Once the update process finished restart the phone.
Go to the (in Windows vista, W7 32 bit)
C:\ProgramData\Sony Ericsson\SEMC OMSI Module\db\13740270\blob_fs and replace the files as per tute suggested to do in SEUS. keep original 2 files backed up in case
with the new files replaced, re run update steps for your phone 2nd time.
(you will notice there is no download session as it used already downloaded files)
once the update finished restart and restore all your stuff.
You have debranede phone with Market
Please note that although the process is straightforward, there is a risk that you may brick your handset when flashing the phone.
For me its a risk worth taking.

thank you for the debrandeing thing, waiting for the ROOTING

x1i prototype?

I just recently purchased an x1i for what I thought was a bargain price. At half the retail, i got the phone in perfect condition and a charger. i didn't mind back then and have been using the phone on a daily basis and it works great. I never questioned why I just got the phone, seeing how adding a box and manual can't be that hard. I wanted to update my ROM to R2A today and when I took the battery out I noticed for the first time: "Prototype build:AP1" and underneath it "Prototype not for sale". So here's my question, is this a prototype and is it in anyway inferior to a retail model?
Thats why it was so cheap
Mine not say prototype....
But you should not care about that if it works well...And have no cracks
prototypes tend to have downgraded hardware than the actual retail
do you have pics of it? please show them! i'm curious to know if yours has a button on the bottom left corner.. kinda like the camera button but instead it's on the left side. iirc the prototype models had that button and one of the reviewers said it was supposed to be made for switching between landscape/portrait.
This is not supposed to be sold! I work there at Sony Ericsson, last time somebody sold a prototype version of a phone he got fired. This guy is either stupid or careless
Depends how old the prototype is then the hardware might be inferior (less ram). One advantage you have is that your phone is most likely "Security Unlocked"
Have a look at the back, what week was it produced on?
As for the person that sold it, they shouldn't have. It's not meant for resale!
I can confirm that anything above 08W25 is good
thanks
thanks for tbe info. mine says 08W26. as for the button to switch between portrait and landscape, it doesn't exist on my x1. The phone is security unlocked. I'll post some pictures up soon.
I bought a proto p990i, didnt know it was a proto. I kept it for spare parts since the firmware couldnt be updated. When I used any function besides calling someone it would lock up on me

Quite the opposite: SE prototypes ALWAYS have the final HW inside, it's usually the initial sw that's pre-RC - which does not effect him as his most likely been upgraded to MR1 at least...

Yes, it is a final prototype for operators to test. This means that it is probably someone outside of SE that has sold it.
It is not inferior in any way, but you can probably not upgrade firmware via SE tools. And you can forget getting help at a SE service location if needed. Some operators also disables the prototype IMEI number in their net after some time, which will make it useless as a phone.
Best thing to do: Turn it in to the nearest SE Service center with details of who sold it. You might be rewarded with a retail X1.

False. Login to to Emma and take a look - if you have a real proto with operator test release sw then you can upgrade it, provided you have access to Emma (you're an authorized SE service center, a SE employee or anyone with Emma login.)

False again. They will help you but it won't be free as it's not covoered by warranty - but again, any used phone you buy won't have warranty or max. one year - if it was retail - anyway.

My X1i is also prototype 08W25, and it doesn't have another button, also all hardware is the same as in final device. You can update rom to any in this forum without any problems, of course it also mean you can update to official R2A rom. I had about 5 X1i different prototypes, older and newer (with extra button and without, full ram 288mb and half 128mb and all can be updated to any newest rom available. But for this which have only 128mb ram I recommend R1A rom which have less ram requaiment (ie there is some problems with running some apps on R2A roms after few hours of use on 128mb ram device becouse much ram is missing then).
Edit 1:
Oh, and prototype devices have much better cover/housing, I have mine more then 5 months (and it wasnt new when I bought it) and it still don't have any crack on the cover!

You are truly clueless: these are most likely not stolen but sales samples, pal. Another newsflash: tracking users are borderline illegal in most countries (unless you have a criminal case and police/court/law is involved.)

FYI: almost all protos are given away and their owners are free to sell it later. (it isn't nice to sell it when it's still new, khm. )
Once retail products are out en masse most protos end up either collect dust on a shelf or end up on eBay.
I'm sure few end up being stolen but they are just like any other phone - nobody traces them down at all unless someone requests it.

"Bricked" X10i

Hi,
Im having a little trouble with my phone, i tried to update with seus and it said update failed for some reason, then my phone flat out refused to turn on, i got it to vibrate when i pressed the power key but thats it. I had a look araound and tried the flash tool in jerpelea's? rom thread and now i have it booting to a little picture of a phone with an exclamation mark. what do i do at this point to get it to fully boot, i have the 16 firmware file for flash tool but im not sure how to use it.
cheers
chris
have you tried using SEUS to repair it?
phone is not briked if you have exclamation mark.... just put it into bootloader(close the phone, remove the battery for 5s,put it back in, hold back button(while holding) plug the usb connected to your computer and you shoud see a the green light(if you dont see the green light you need to charge the phone.... needs about 50% power charge....(this happed to me twice where the phone refused to ener bootloader state because battery was below 50%...))) and flash it with one of the flash methods....
yeah, just looking at the flash tool now i seems to be getting an error,
java.io.IOException: unable to open channel
what could this mean?
if i remember correctly it mean you got the wrong device id....
mmm, thats wierd, i got it from the registry like i was told, is there another method?

im just trying that now, its downloading the software really slowly
check the registry there maybe more than 1 some people had 2 or 3 you have to try to see witch one is the good one...
that, or you have 64bit java, you need 32bit java preferably on a 32 bit windows system
seems to be fine now, thanks lads.

Bricked X10i
I had my X10i for 1 day... fully charged and reading 100%. I installed the SEUS and the other SE software then plugged the X10i into the PC to see what upgrades were available. Wow! an upgrade was available, and having read the stuff on this site as well as others I did fresh installs of 32 and 64bit Java so that I wouldn't encounter problems. I started the upgrade with SEUS and it failed with about 5mm left on the progress bar. I thought this isn't a problem as I can always try again or use the other software. WRONG! Don't believe anyone that says that you can't brick the X10i, that is complete crap!
I sent my phone off to an SE phone repair company that does the job for most of the carriers in this country. After 3 hours on the bench attempting to un-brick the X10i the result was not a good one! The phone has to go to SE in Poland for 2 weeks to be repaired. Apparently there are situations where the memory can have defects and these are not shown up in the initial build. Only when the phone is upgraded can they show their true colours. Well my phone will be back in 2 weeks, working like new and me... well after this SE phone I won't buy another SE product again. Very very disappointed indeed. How I wish I had bought the Nexus One instead, well we live and learn! Incidently, before anyone says this could happen to any phone... I have 12 phones in a box behind me, including HTC and Apple which have had no problems, even after some pretty heavy abuse. The fact that the phone wasn't a day old and I was following SE's rules for the upgrades then all went bad leaves a very bad taste in my mouth.

Yeah, it sounds like you had some bad luck. I fail to see how that could reflect badly on SE though, it's not like they ship thousands of the phones with a known defect. You had some bad luck and I'm glad it got sorted, thank Kobold for warranties.

Brand new omnia 7, Freezing

Hello everybody,
i just bought an omnia 7 for my birthday (excualy, my wife did)
i charged it all night, and the first day it was a beaty ,
i first hesatated for the update, bu eventually i updated,
and that when it all started.
first it just froze, then it froze, en when 1 soft resetted, i couln'd receive or make a call , nor sms, but i had internet connection.
now when i do "havy stuff" like movie, game or even facebook
IT FREEZES :'( ,
and to make itr worse, i have the faulty bootloader, so no firmware upgrade
i'm thinking about goiing to a repair center and let them fix it.
i really wanna use this phone (1st smartphone ever)

You got to be careful, because some fixes under warranty automaticly update the phone to the latest version of OS and if you get the latest verison of OS you won't be able to unlock it the easiest way; with chevron
well,
yesterday i got my omnia 7 back, and it works like a charm.
they replaced the main board

You're gonna hate me but... You import a phone sim free, you have no warranty or technical service in your country... Why would you risk flashing it?! I would never do that! Anyway it's your money, I hope you get it fixed and learn a lesson.

i don't know where you have read that i imported it, or that i don't have warranty...
yes i have bought it in a nabouring country: netherland
BUT! thats where the fun part is i live in belgium and samsung has a benelux warranty: meaning if i buy a phone in holland or luxebourg, i have warranty in belgium, neat isn't it or viceversa i did my reseach
so yes i "imported" it (payed half what it costs in belgium) but i DO have warranty, and now they fitted a new mainboard and the phone rocks!!!!
why flash it? latest firmware: better preformance, in my opinion and now wait for mangoooooo
Hey! I have no idea how this happened, it's probably the xda app acting crazy. My post wasn't meant for you but for sasukee in the other thread. How weird! Will copy and paste.

Well knowing O2 they're send it off to some third party company, i sent my x10 off (it was rooted) and it came back with unrooted O2 firmware
Why create 3 new threads when you'd probably get all the answers in one?
Anyway, look in the dev forum for a thread with the title "Carrier branded firmwares". Inside you'll find O2's firmware for the UK.
I've done the same for my previous O2 device, I replaced the phone 1 week ago, as used to have a problem with quality of the front speaker.
I tried to unroot by flashing the official kernel, root is gone but the apps were still there!
so I flashed the whole firmware which restored the whole device to default, then I've done master reset voilaaaaaaa
p.s. dont worry about reseting the counter m8 they dont care for it hehe
If u need any help please dont hesitate to ask
How long did O2 take to repair the phone?

Why do you guys like intermediaries to service your phones? I bought my SGS2 on a carrier, if a have some problem with it i'll just take it to a Samsung repair center, not my carrier...
I've done this multiple times with my or my friends phones... Be it Nokia, Samsung or HTC. Manufacturers don't really care if the phone is unbranded of unlocked.
My previous phone was an HTC TyTn, some months after after i bought it, the camera stopped working. My phone was running a custom ROM, was unlocked and even had a custom bootloader (HardSPL). The HTC guys told me that the only thing i need to do was flash the original HTC bootloader, because their flashing equipment doesn't work with HardSPL. Then i came locked again and with my carrier ROM. When i got home, i unlocked it again and unbrand it.
With Nokia, things are even better, because unlike HTC/Samsung, unlocking Nokias costs some money because they need some specialized boxes for unlocking, not just a USB cable and some program. I normally go to Nokia Care Center and kindly ask them if they don't mind not locking the phone again, and generally they don't mind...
The only thing you need to make sure at phone repair center: always talk with a Man, they tend to be sensible to this sort of things... Womans are always "by the book"... LOL
I looked up the service centre locations in London and they all seem to be CPW?

So do you think it should be okay if I restore it to the generic stock O2 firmware, have it unrooted and take it in for repairs? Will they check the counter?
It's a hardware issue (Prox sensor faulty) so I hope they will honour it to fix it!
Well i would plead ignorance and say Kies mucked up an update .

When I got mine repaired they didnt even check my receipt. They might have checked my counter behind the scenes though so i recommend a jig.

[Q] Dont kill me, Im new here :(

Hi everyone...
Im a little lost in here but, I have some questions...
I buyed an HTC HD2 T8585 (chinese version) and I contact the HTC support and they said that my IMEI and Serial Number is from an HTC Incredible S -.-"
But... in the HTC HD2 software (inside of the phone), I go to "Device Information" and appears another Serial Number, that they confirmed that is HTC HD2, but the IMEI is the same...
The thing is...
Can I have the HTC Sense in this mobile? If no, Can someone help me (step by step) to introduce the WM7 and Android in this?
I have the windows mobile 6.5 and the software is "DUMA.10X.W10.20.P29"...
Note: As I said before, Im new in here, and Im a little lost too... I need some support in here and via chat if possible
DUMA.10X.W10.20.P29 ! I believe this is the firmware used in HTC iPhone chinese copy/clones & is then skinned to look like the devices normal OS.
If I am correct that would explain why your iMEI/serial# are wrong.
If it is the Chinese copy then you will not be able to flash original HD2 ROM to it or use the tools for Android or W7 !
is it dual sim ? if so 100% China junk I am afraid ...
oh gosh...no wp7,android,dual booting, kicking other phones' asses for u then.i would suggest that you buy a used HD2 if you are convinced that yours is fake. But i think it is since theres no way DUMA.10x.W10.20.P29 will appear on the real HD2's bootloader. Does your phone look like this (http://forum.china-iphone.ru/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=5495&start=340)?...im not sure how the law is back there, but if you know who you bought it from and you seriously didnt know its fake, you should report it to the officials and to HTC.
As you have a China Clone you need to look elsewhere try these places :

Hope it helps
So unlucky then...
in other words...
Big mistake...
I have to sell to someone for 200€... and I will lose 10€...
or I sell it online...
The biggest problem its that I really think that was the original HTC HD2 and I was f*cked by the chinese ppl...
The HTC says that this have origins of france and chinese... so...
I dont know now...
Oh this is bad crack : (
Well, u should seriously report this to the authorities if you know whom you bought it from. They wont be getting a new phone for you,but at least you could charge them and ask for compensation. But still, you should have known better than to buy it from them Chinese before thourougly checking. I mean im not against them in any way. Most of them are good guys, but some just fake everything from a bloody pen to babies these days.
and...
but no1 will try to get an solution or some software to install in that cellphone... I really dont like this one, its too... simple...

It is not just software, the hardware is no match for a genuine HD2 & has no hopes of running real Windows Mobile ROMs, if you bought it from a shop you may consider returning & kicking up a huge fuss or if via online credit card or PayPal you may be able to get refunded !
Best thing you can do is learn from this & do more research on products prior to purchasing, especially for any to good to be true deals from products from China.

You are missing the point, your phone is totally different to ours, different hardware, different software, probably different settings/options, so the chances of us being able to troubleshoot your mms problems are slim, unless you wanna upload a dozen or so screenshots of the various settings menus,, and explain in a lot more detail what you already tried, the facts around the problem(is there an mms data connection configured, can you browse the net, and on and on)
