iPhone ROM/OS on the HTC HD2 - HD2 General

Okay, so before I get flamed to death for asking - it's just a random question!
Is it possible [or has it been done?] to rip the ROM from the iPhone [or get its OS or whatever] and flash it to the HTC HD2 so that it behaves like the iPhone?
Yes, it's a stupid question, but I would like to know the answer - Just to play around with the idea a bit.

I will take the lead!
If you want the iPhone OS, take the easy route and get an iPhone!
If you want the Windows OS, you have got a few options (and you are probably in the right place)!
lol...
No seriously, iPhone's MAJOR drawback is the ability of users/developers to access the installed operating system. Until this is sorted, no one can dump the iPhone OS and hence it can not be run on any other hardware.
But, why would you want to do that ?
Seriously,
If you want the iPhone OS, take the easy route and get.....
lol

...or get the iPhoneToday plugin.

Still an upgrade from the current Model T engine Highly modifiable maybe, but still a Model T

*Flames* *Flames* *Flames*

Haha...Okay then, fair enough.
The reason I was considering it is just that I like the look and feel of the iPhone, and its OS isn't messy like Windows MoFoBile.
I'd get an iPhone...but I'm locked down for two years with this HTC HD2
However - that's not TOO bad since I cooked it with that Energy ROM - the BEST ROM IN THE WORLD, by the way.
But yeah...It's just...I want iPhone OS

now look what how well customizable WM is with all these mods, especially coockie 1.7. hmmm.. what can you do on the iphone right... apple will invent

I realise that the iPhone and the iPhone OS has virtually no customisability, but I mean...if a ROM was made that resembled it - then customisability could be cooked in somehow...
I should become a ROM developer...HAHA no, that's not going to happen.

For people dying to get an iPhone, here is my usual advice!
Flog your HTC HD2 on ebay, and then head to an apple store to purchase an iPhone. Uncle Steve loves you indeed!
And, while we are at it, what does "Windows MoFoBile" mean ?

You could get a good amount for a telstra hd2... they generally go for more than any other hd2, especially if you're willing to ship to the us. If you hate WinMo, I suggest you doing this and get yourself an iphone. telstra doesn't care what phone you use.

I agree with PapaMopps!!! lol...but there are customizations you can use to make it look like the iphone though.....
You could install a lite rom, then install spb mobile, and just browse through all the themes and install one. THere are a ton of other ways to get it to look like the iphone....just do a search on iphone themes.

Why in the world would anyone want to buy an iphone? lol.
No one would want to buy an iphone if they have an htc XD
The iphone's interface isn't great but it's smoooooth, which is something that, unfortunately, Windows Mobile can't touch... So using an iphone like interface in a Windows Mobile phone kills the two great things that I like about the two types of phones: Smoothness (iphone) and functionability (windows mobile).

Well said my friend....
looks like this thread is useless right now.
THREAD CLOSED.

the vogue comeback?

anybody else think the touch vogue & qvga is going to be making a huge comeback? all i see are threads with people selling their touch pros and diamonds to go back to the vogue. i think it is one of htc's most valued ppc's. also with android running so well on it now i really think alot of users will be coming back.
thoughts?
People want the latest & greatest. I don't even want the Vogue but is what I am stuck with because of the stupid thinking over at Verizon. I don't have a data plan & you can only get the touch Pro if you are on a data plan.
No other handset is as mature in the Android space. It is an amazing OS running well enough for everyday use.
I'm keeping my Vogue until I can get an Android phone.

x2... I'm locked into my Alltel/Verizon? Contract til 2010 but luckily I picked up the last two in-stock Vogues they had for the wifey and me for only $80/ea. I initially regretted my decision but now that Android on the Vogue has matured so much that it can be used for everyday use I'm more than thrilled with the decision. Happy to be Rockin' the Vogue!!!

Same, even though the Vogue has worked out for me. I still would rather have a touch pro, or the touch pro 2 once it comes out.

WM is a terrible platform, it doesnt offer anything that android doesnt or at some point wont. Android even runs better on the vogue which was designed for WM. I just dont see why anyone would voluntarily choose WM overandroid. It would be great, if this was 2003.

You can absolutely customize Android. There are apps on the market and tons of downloadable themes. The apps cost a bit of money, and being that we're not really "stable" yet, I haven't bothered to buy them.
And need I point out mssmison's themed builds?

I believe that was fixed today, although I may be mistaken on exactly what that entails.
Anyway, I tried the free "Lite" version of a couple theming apps a while back, and they worked fine. I forget what the difference between Lite and Full were though.

Can we flash WM6.5 on this device?

the hardware is pretty similar with HD2, I wonder if we can flash HD2 ROM on this device. I like the hardware of Nexus One but missing the WM6.5. I will try to flash it when it is received tomorrow.
i have a better question... why would you want to?
Seriously, just buy an HD2 if you have such a WinMo boner
Are you kidding us? WM doesn't exist...
If you try Android you will never go back to WM..
yeah... gonna dump my fuze.. maybe sell it for $100 and get outta ATT..
buy the phone outright, and jump on the $59 plan they got (or maybe make up a different one - i'm not much of a texter), then add on the work discount.. cheaper than paying $180 for it and being stuck w/ the $80/mo plan.
I'm done with winmo after playing with my parents android phones
HD2 cost $670 +shipping, but if I flash the Nexus one, it only costs $562. it's a better choice than buy a HD2.

Well there is a device called Sunno, supposed to have both WM&android - dual boot, similar to your desktop's dual boot. So it's possible then?I think it would be beneficial for these devices to have changeable os. Monday - android, tuesday - winmo. About stupidity - I don't like android (hero that is) - so I'm stupid then??
Biased people.. Android fans start to sound like iPhone groupies. All think Android is a new killer OS, ever owned a GOOD WM device? "whats new? what is all the fuss about?" What can you do now that is sooooo different from what I could do 3/5 years ago with Winmo? The only good thing in the nexus? The snapdragon used in WM HD2..

Also, coming from G1. Still getting used to WM.
Wasn't thrilled the first few days, but that was just due to the learning curve. I'm now aware of how customizable WM is, which is great. So many ROM's, so many skins means that we can dial in our phones (no pun intended) the way we want them to be.
The screen and responsiveness on this thing is what is keeping me on it more than anything, though. Plus, I love the HTC music player, photo and video player, and calender. Great looking apps.

I'm so in between right now.
I was at the TMo store and googled if the HD2 was getting WinMo7 and the first few links said yes, so I bought it (impulse buy, I was there to change my calling plan).
I really was going to get a Nexus One because I like Android but as other posters have said, after the WinMo learning curve, again (this is NOT the first WM phone I've had) I am in between.
This has an amazing screen, hands down. But really, that's where the differences end for me (besides WM and Android)

Through my experiences in the old days with Hero and 3GS, I got bored really quick with android and iphone os, but not with HD2/Winmo now. I found myself to be kind of loving to tweak my phone. I love the open-source and customizations of Winmo, still finding a lot to do with my HD2.
However, I really miss some apps and games from android or iphone os, such as: Plants vs Zombies, Angry Birds, Layar Reality Browser and especially Tunewiki. I heard a winmo version of Tunewiki is in developing process, hope it will come soon.
