Charging Behaviour - XPERIA X10 General

Is it normal behavior for the phone to turn itself on when connected to the AC adapter? All other phones allow charging with the phone turned off. Am I missing something?

Mine is the same... really strange indeed...

Same here, noticed it just last night when I switched it off then plug to charge it then it switched on again.

another strange thing is tht the phone speaker does not ring when there is a incomming call and the headsets are connected..
on all other fones, incomming call notification is heard on both the fone and the headsets...

on the SE K750, K800, and C902 the phone speaker didn't ring if there was a headset connected, just the headset earpieces.

I was thinking the same thing, I don't think I've ever had a phone where the handset rang if you have a headset plugged in, except for my x1i but that was after messing about with it so much I was lucky if it worked at all!

well then i think its default sony behaviour...
nokia and htc behave differently(both ring)...
but then this is my first sony and i m lovin it.....

Same here, phone won't switch off once it's being charged

HTC Universal Design Flaw - Speaker still rings with headset

I am using a Dopod 900. Would like to check if this is a localised model problem, or a HTC Universal design flaw.
When you plug in the earpiece, does the speakers still ring with an incoming call?
For the record, mine does, and it is very annoying, as when I plug in my earpiece, it is for the phone to stay silent and not to disturb people with ringtones (like in a library).
Don't suppose there is any workarounds to the problem besides completely muting the phone volume?
Just my opinion, I think most handphones still ring even when we plug in the headset to let owners know someone is calling, unless we set them to vibrate.
i don't think it's a design flaw .... all the mobile phones i've been using whether nokias, motorolas, sony ericssons (even the p900 and p910) and my HTC devices do the same thing ..... they will ring nonetheless if you have the wired earpiece or not unless you change the profiles ... you can customize the profiles on the Universal and any Windows Mobile device to your liking ...
FYI

I've got a HTC Wizard. This device has the same 'problem' you're discribing.
The solution on the Wizard was to change to following registry key:
\\registry\HKCU\Control Panel\SoundCategories\Ring\Speaker to 0. It worked on the Wizard! Not sure if it wil work on the Universal! But let me know if it was succesful!

What profiles?
Where do you find the settings and what can you change?
thats not a problem every phone does that. if you don't want your phone to ring with a headset install, set the ringer to silent. doing that will make it only ring on the headset.
the logical reason why a phone would ring with the headset in is because not everyone keeps there headset on when they're not on the phone. so you'd never no when your phone is ringing if you took your headset off.

Sound problems - only vibration, no alarm, no conversation but ringtone?

Hello everyone, my Hermes worked a looong time very fine but now i cant hear the normal "beep" when i adjust the volume. Also i hear no conversation when i phone somebody. Alarm sound is off too. I hardresetted it once but it didn't help. The weird thing is: I can hear the ringing sound when i get a phone call?!
It looks like the other person can't hear me either, thats a bit weird because i thought this isnt a speaker but a microphone problem... Two components crashed on one day? WTF? Need help
I have seen this problem with a different htc phone.
their may be a bit of dirt across the miniusb contacts making the phone think it is connected to a headset.
plugin a mini usb cable and waggle it round a bit then test calling someone hopefully that should cure it for you.
I have a very very similar problem with my Vario II. The sound is VERY intermittent. Sometimes it rings but when I pickup there is no sound either way, from the earpiece or mic, the other person cannot hear me. Most of the time the phone just vibrates (set to Ring and Vibrate) so I know there is a message or a call coming...not that I can answer the call. Tried soft resetting it and even changing the ROM, only works for about 5 minutes then the sound is gone again.
The device only works as a phone with a blue tooth headset, the rest of the time it is just a PDA....that vibrates.

problem with headset and rom

Hi!
I have a problem. Recently I 've installed new rom (touch-it 4.0)on my xperia. Everything was fine but when I plugged my phone to hi-fi, I started having problems. After i unplugged the phone the headphone icon was still on the display bar. I've tried to switch off the phone or even remove the battery but the problem still exist.I am not able to even make a call, without my headset, cause phone still acting like sth was plugged to the mini jack.
Please, do anybody know a solution to this case???
best regards,
Karol
Same...
I've got the same problem. I didn't install any Mod Roms, but Ive heard it could be a hardware problem. All the suggetions didn't work... like unplugg it when you just started a call...
My main problem is that it doesn't play any sounds anymore... Coreplayer says: "Wave Output: Device error!"
Maybe its because i've installed WOW-HD Sound app...
Shouldn't have done so... I guess..
But the headset problem still exists besides the sound prob, cause ive read a lot of stories about exactly this bug...
It's the same at my phone: The headset symbol doesn't disappear when you unplug your headset...
I think i got the worst case: My sound doesnt work so i even cant make calls with the headset... means, left for me is sms and Internet...
Thats why I bought a mobile phone
having thesame icon on my phone too cant hear nothing when receiving a call not ontill i slip in my headphone but my ringer works good thats the reason its amazing that i can hear my ring tone when am been called but cant hear nothing when accepting a call ,till i slip i my head phone, anyone got a solution? try let us know, thanks in advance

Incoming call signal in the phone w/ headset connected?!?!

I really NEED my Touch HD to let the incoming call (Incomming SMS/Email too if possible) to sound through the phone speaker when I have headset connected through the 3,5mm jack.
I'm geting too crazy now, if I put the headset in the 3,5mm jack and have the headphones (w/ mic) haning around my neck with the HD in the pocket I miss every call, becouse the phone decide to send all incoming sound ONLY to the headset. Why???
I there some seting I missed? (please god let it be that way)
or
Is there some application/software I can install to get the function I want?
or
Do I need to get back to Sony Ericsson phones that do understand that they should let incoming call/sms/email notifcation alert sound trough the phone when headset is connected and musicplayer/radio is not activated.
ANY help very much appricated!
Thanks!
No one? No one have any comment?
Any one haveing the same issues with this "problem"? Is it solvable?
Or is it only me wanting to have this feature?

Up!
For what it's worth - you could just have the phone vibrate for those alerts in addition to making the sound?

Something strange about the headset...

I received my DVP last week and satisfied with its quality... But there is a strang thing I found on my phone.. I found out that calsl will hang up if I plug in the headset during the call. Is there anyone come across this issue or just me?
is it the headset that came with the phone? or is it just any pair of headphones you plug in? The later would be more of a problem...
It sounds like a bad headset. It must be triggering the button the signal and telling the phone to end call
