Missing market app + driver for windows 7 - XPERIA X10 General

hello all.
i just bought my x10 yesterday and I am (or rather was) eager to install apps on it however the "Market" app isnt on my phone nor is there any sort of file manager.
How can i install anything now?
also the driver for the "X10i" that windows 7 keeps asking for is nowhere to be found...
pls help!

I can't help with the Market Application, but I can help with the drivers/PC Companion software.
With your SD Card installed in the device:
1) Connect Device to PC via USB
2) Once the Device has connected you will see a USB symbol in the top status bar (USB Connected message) on the Home Screen.
3) Drag down the Status Bar and you will see USB Connected under the 'Ongoing'. Tap this.
4) Select 'Mount' from the pop up
The SD Card will now be mounted to your PC and will appear under My Computer. It should be labelled "Sony Ericsson PC Software"
5) Open "Sony Ericsson PC Software" and Select "Install"
Your Drivers and PC Companion software will now install.
NOTE: Make sure you follow this disconnect procedure - I've seen ... weirdness when I haven't followed it and your SD Card may not be visible to the Phone again unless you do!
1) Safely Eject the device from Windows (USB symbol on Taskbar in Win 7 > Eject)
2) Drag down the Status Bar and tap USB Connection
3) Select UnMount
Note: Steps 2 & 3 are not always required...

Thanks.
I wasnt aware there was any stuff on the memory stick that came with the x10. I'll install the software.
However its really lame of SE to not have the market app.
whats odd is under application manager i did find "Market updater" so i know something is there. there has to be a way to install it so i can install s/w.

Hi Cylent,
I had the Market Application on the Apps menu - front and centre.
Forgive me if I'm telling you something you already know but the Home page (the one with the clock and the Timescape/media scape buttons) is only a customisable front end to the Android system.
you can add and remove widgets to the Home screen (Press and hold), there are three screens you can move to and fill with widgets (Swipe left or right to move).
At the bottom of the screen is a stripey bar. Swipe that bar upwards to reveal the Apps menu. This is scrollable and I found the Android Market icon (labelled Market and looks like a shopping bag) just off the initial view.
I find it very strange you don't have access to the Market using the Market app. Just for that, I'd take the phone back and demand another one.
Take care
S.

It seems like in Saudi and UAE the market application is illegal due to "protection of feelings" since there might be offending material in the App Store
So that is why here cant get the X10 with Market application...
:-(

Yeah, just found that out myself.
It kinda sucks for guys in that area - half the power of the phone is in its apps...

yes and what is even worse is I checked SE UAE BEFORE i bought the phone - and the website said android market was installed.
But here they do not care - so I was just told to shut it - and they would not give me a refund. SE made a mistake and is not "man" enough to admit it and refund a customer.
Now of course the have changed the UAE website... But I still have my screen dumps for my journalist friends. So off to fry SE UAE publicly..

well heres another ****ed up part.
the box says "AR,EN" on it and it even has a little start guide in arabic but the phone has no arabic on it what-so-ever. messages appear in BOXES when in arabic ...
it has a japanese keyboard which is odd.
i literally cannot do anything without the market app because there is no damn file manager installed.
even windows phones have a file manager. what the hell?

I don't know if it will help you but why not try the "debranding tutorial". With the tutorial you will be flashing an UK Rom via SEUS, in my opinion the market should be there after that.
-Bin4ry

ya the debranding idea came to mind because when i tried the SEUS it said my phone was up to date. but all i want to do is flash the UK or whatever version ontop of what i have. cant i copy the rom image to a flash and reset the device to flash?
reason being is this tutorial got me too confused. i downloaded the file and it had a 1 and a 2 subfiles in the zip. where to extract them and what to do? http://www.esato.com/board/viewtopic.php?topic=195467
i did it on my htc magic...is it not possible with the x10?

SUCCESS!!!
the debranding got my market icon installed!!!
now ... how to get 2.1 android on lol

if you cant get SEUS to work this is what worked for me

[FIX] Full Market on Viewsonic G TntLite 3.1.4 Easy Edition

I just got the Viewsonic G tablet today and I was pretty bummed that there were hardly any market apps. I decided to take matters in my own hands to get full market on the device without having to edit a bunch of stuff.
Requirements...
A rooted android phone preferably 2.1 or higher.
a Viewsonic tab... duh.
Step 1.
Download Android ID Changer on your rooted phone.
Download Atstro Filemanager.
Keep the Viewsonic close by, your going to need it soon.
After both files are downloaded on your rooted device open Astro File Manager and press menu > tools> application manager/backup.
Backup Android ID changer.
Now plug the phone into your computer and browse to Sdcard/backups/apps and transfer the Android ID Changer.apk to your desktop or use your favorite file manager that can send files via email/bluetooth and send to yourself which ever is easier for you.
Plug your Gtab into your desktop via USB and enable usb transfer.
Copy the Android ID Changer.apk to your Gtab's Sdcard root.
[Magic Time!]
Now Go back to your Rooted Android Phone and run the Android Id Changer
When you run the id changer its going to ask for ROOT access, this is fine, allow it.
On the top under current Android ID please write down the 16 digit Android ID number.
that is all you need from your phone. Uninstall or do what you wish with it.
Use the Ifilemanager that is bundled with the Tnt 3.1.4 rom and navigate to your SDCARD Root, look for android id changer.apk and install it.
Once installed, launch the android id changer and grant it root/superuser permissions.
You will see a white box that says Enter New Android ID
Enter the 16 digit android id number and double check your work even triple check.
click save android id and then Change Id, This will reboot your machine instantly.
When you get back to the home screen reopen android id changer and check to make sure it matches your phone's id.
Now go to your home screen and press the menu button, then go to settings, then go to applications, then system applications, go to market application and clear cache and force stop. go to Market updater and force stop, Go to Google Services Framework and clear *DATA*, force stop. go to your home screen and launch Market. If you get an error than it worked, Reboot your machine and you will be welcomed with a full market.
Things i noticed...
1. Sometimes the market will give me a connection error but i think its my wifi im not sure, i do have full market and i have installed countless apps.
2. The Android id is basically cloning my phone making market think my gtab is a HTC EVO.
3. The Market is stable aside from every now and then a connection error will show but hitting retry and it goes on through but like i said i think its my network more than anything.
This is only confirmed on Tnt 3.1.4 nothing else, I'm sharing this information with you because i didn't want to install a dirty market, i want something i knew would work.
If this information already exists, please remove this post I honestly didn't go that deep in the forums looking for an answer when I just made it work myself.
Do you see NFS Shift?
No, but I do see dungeon defenders. I don't know if NFS shift supports the hardware inside these devices personally. I have the whole market, i mean i can search for appbrain, i got it, i can search for autokiller, i got it. I would almost have to be the hardware conflict between the devices. or not even that, it could be as simple as "Does this game support tegra 2? no? ok then dont show it on the list" Dungeon Defenders openly states that it supports Tegra processors and would explain why its showing up on market and not NFS shift.
*update*EA stated that they are making a NFS shift for Tablets meaning Tegra 2 support. that explains it not showing on market.
So Could i pull the data from my droid X and use that?
not to burst your bubble or anything but all of your steps about getting the 16 digit code from your phone can be skipped. just do a search for market fix and you will find the way to do it.
it is very similar to what you had after the 16 digit copy thing. it will save you a bunch of time.
i have just about a full market just as you explain but without copying the 16 digit thing.
None of the EA Games will run on The G Tab.
I know it doesnt run on the Gtab, but its an app i KNOW for a fact its missing in my market. Since he said he had a cloned market from his evo, i asked. Its just the same as the usual market fix.
Thanks
Firefox will not show up for me and I know it runs on the g-tab
Can you share how you were able to get that 16 digit Android ID number?
I would like to use the number from my Droid X...

You get the number by installing Android ID changer from the market using your Rooted Droid X. Once the Android ID Changer is installed on your phone then you can open it and grant the software Super users privlidges and then it will show you the 16 digit id number.
This fix is for those who dont want to download modified markets or "dirty markets"
they can just download any market at that point and use it normally. But like i stated earlier if there is a easier fix then by all means use it, this is my personal fix im sharing with you all.

Not completely true. Tetris works on the tablet
lol
So, fyi, this is a standard market hack. Furthermore, Most of the ea apps run, including madden, on the GTab. They have substantial texture issues though. Fifa may be broken now as of the last update. I can see many ea titles in my market, including NFS Shift, most likely due to modifying my Build Prop to match my droidx's signature.
Thats funny, no matter how many times I do a market hack/fix on TNT 4.0 it doesn't see any of the EA games.
Where exactly do you download the ID changer apk from? It's missing from the market, and google is providing no results just a dead link to the market.
Can you download flick kick football?
Could you attach the andriod Changer apk to the posting. It's blocked in the Market and you can't even search it.
Nice job works great using my droid ID. Are there any potential negative repercussions from having two devices with the same ID?
I did change id as per instructions as on my phone, but still same apps. The apps I can see on my phone are shown on my tab even after doing all this exercise.

[New Members] COMPUTERS +DEVICE-Learn how to-Flashing

Guys,I am not too new in this social forum dedicated to hacking mobile devices but I am to computers and computer jargon.
We,new comers get excited when reading posts saying I did this,I did that.Worked like a charm,I tweaked this I tweaked that.I am in control of my device,on Gingerbread now my device is on JellyBean.Awesome.
But they were able to have this much of control over their device because they know something which we, are not certain off.
Using their computers and also knowing their device.
One of the fundamental rules in Forum XDA is reading, reading and more reading. And yet there are so many who screw up.It is said that to do any stuff, you must follow the instructions given by the developers to the letter and yet nothing is smooth as it should be.
Lack of absorbing instructions.
Or just can't understand clearly.
Well,it's about the same. You can read, read and read but when it comes down to actually doing it,you would definitely have to use a desktop or a laptop.
That's when the ordeal begins.Did it say this,to press this or do this.Oh bugger,I should not have done that.
F**k,F**K,F**k,shi*,My phones got boot loops, its not opening,Cant get to open my sweet beautiful Xperia Arc/S,Neo/Neo V/Pro/Mini Pro........I'm pricked.
Sorry,bricked my device.Crying!!!!!
[This above anxieties was well documented/experienced by yours truly) So don't nobody say I'm pointing my index finger at you!
Everyday, there are thousands getting hold of a mobile device, new and used, young and old-like me.And those who read magazines or who have friends who read magazines would have heard that one could really take charge of the devices that one owns and be a master of it.But one also must understand and navigate a computer, haha.
So ,I am going to start the ball rolling and everyone is invited to add on this thread. It is not specifically designed to just advice. But a detailed advice would be welcomed. You know this is for newcomers and people who are not well versed in using the computers. So a detailed as and example:
You need to flash this firmware
4.1.B.0.587.
You need:
1)Flashtool-download from here----
2)Firmware-download from here----
Once done downloading, run flashtool in your computer it can be located in 2 places either in downloads or C:\.Now,right click on it and there will be a prompt WinZip and if you are using 7zip it will also be within WinZip asking you where to extract the file to.Extract it to the same page.
Now after the extraction you will see a folder pop up in the page with the same name minus the .exe.Double click on it,you will see a bunch of files. We are only interested in 2.
Drivers-double click on this. There will be a prompt.Press install. Then there will be a couple of more prompts in unison just keep on pressing next, next and press finish when the last prompts pops up.All in all, there will be 4 prompts.I think,I will check.
What this does is linking your device with the computer. Now,this file will open and in it you will find your device name, tick in the box next to your device.Scroll down to the bottom there will be flashtool and flashmode.Tick the boxes beside both. You are done here for now.
Press back on page. You will come back to earlier page.In here there is a file named Firmware.
Click and open it.Inside you will find x10 firmware. This is because the creator of this tool,Bin4ry and Androxyde initially created this tool for the x10 device,I think.Delete this.I had left this there before but after inserting another firmware in another column in the page it will read kernel.sin adsp.sin, kernel and stuff.
Was confused. So I only put one at a time.Should be easier that way.
Leaving it just like this now go and download the 4.1.B.0.587 if you haven't already.
Its always good to prepare everything needed.Just say for argument sake you have already done that. And it is in your download section.
The file will also be a zipped file.Unzip it,like you did with flashtool earlier and now you will have another folder with the same name.
Double click on the folder. There will be another file, click one more time on it, a pagination indicating it is the said file only now it will read as a .FTF file. This is what you need.
Press right click,a window will pop up,as though you didn't know this already, right click on it then copy or cut.
Go back to earlier page, click on firmware folder again and right click and press paste. The firmware is magically transferred here.Sweet.
Now its almost time.Get your USB cable ready.See that your device is at least 70% full. For whatever reason you are connecting your phone to the computer always backup your contacts, call logs, mail.
Whatever that needs to be sync with another remote destination let it sync. This way you can retrieve your stuff if something goes wrong. And you loose everything on your SDcard. But with this very detailed step by step guidance and if you still manage to screw up."Youve got a BIG problem with navigating on a computer.
"Google sync is the best for contacts, call logs and mail.Photos and collection of movies, videos and MP3s you pirated, I would say, your computer.
Also a friendly advice don't put too much hope of retrieving from apps which say that you can backup to.When everything goes, everything goes, even your backup app.Now back to business at hand.
Get your cable,checked
Phone at 70% charged or more,
checked.
Open flashtool, this is where? In your C drive, C:\flashtool and flashtool the folder, double click the folder, bunch of files again.
Double click on Driver prompts, run it,it will open up,again tick on the box beside your device, flashtool and flashmode.Done.
Go back to earlier page, this time click on firmware again, just to check if the firmware that you cut/copy pasted is still there.Present.
Good.
Go back one page, now, towards the bottom of the page there will be flashtoolx86(this is for windows xp if you are using a windowsXP 32bit.You know what you are using, don't you?)And flashtoolx64(this for windows7 and x64bit computers)Click on this, only one.And a reduced size page will appear. This is the main page of flashtool.
Click on the lightning icon another page will appear. This time your firmware that you cut/copy and pasted earlier will appear.
Mind you this detailed tutorial is only for flashing and as an example.
Now,there are 3 coloums at the extreme right of the page.Non of the boxes must he ticked/checked.
Make sure of this,if you don't want to send out PMs to members who might be just about to hit the sack with their partners.
There are some nice members out there as there are others.
Right,coming back,at the bottom
of the page there is a box and beside the box is this line,no final
verification.
Tick only this box and press OK.On the screen you will see an illustration of a USB cable putting in and pulling out and a instruction which says to power off the device.
But wait. You are about to connect your phone to a computer. As such, you must enable USB Debugging in your device.
You can do this by going into your phone Settings>Developer>tick/check the box beside USB Debugging.
Then go into Security>and tick/check the box beside Unknown Sources and finally go back also in Settings>Xperia>Connectivity there will be two Instructions.
One to connect with PC Companion which will have a box beside it.We don't need that but the other without a box.Just press on it a prompt will appear. There will be 2 options. One says MTP,we don't need this too the other we definitely need MSC.Press on MSC.
The tiny l.e.d light will come on.Done.Now your phone is prepped up to connect to the pc.
Switch off your phone.Press the back button, connect one end of the USB cable to your phone still pressing the back button and the other to your computer.
Do not take your fingers off that back button. The l.e.d.light near the volume button will turn green. Now click on the lightning icon again.
The next page with the firmware will appear again.Where's your finger, good, keep on pressing the back button.
Go through the boxes on your extreme right to see none of the boxes are ticked/checked.Go to the bottom now tick/check the box beside No verification. And press OK.
Another page will come on,and some writtings will start appearing on its on.You can now release your fingers from pressing the back button.
And you will see the words at the bottom of the page flashing finished. And then some more.So read and look for the word.Unplug your device. You have done flashing.
Some might think that this is a total waste of time.No one in their correct mind need to do this lenghtly whatever. But to be honest, every hiccup mentioned above occurred to me.
My grasp of understanding computer jargon and navigating on a computer was zilch. And I had a hard time understanding.
Not that I've become and expert,no.
Very very far from it.But I've had this xperia arc since early 2012 and only managed to Root and Unlocked the bootloader recently.
I am always reading and copying how tos and still failed applying a custom Rom.Go figure.
This might help one person or two who knows. So long as it helps.
Whatever I have written above are my experiences.Thank you all at xda for giving me this push to pursue learning computers and also of my device this very late in my life.
Note:Moderators kindly do not close this thread.
Guys, please if this thread stays on,kindly,if you don't mind, just add.I will be adding more in the future.TQ.

Best Drivers for Razr

The windows drivers I use.. (I think I got e'm from Motorola's site) constantly prompt me for permissions to access the phone when I plug it in to windows...
They bring up some stupid IE URL for Verizon "backup assistant plus" and video..
So what drivers can you use with the XT907 etc. that justs allows you to transfer files etc. with no headache? (ohh yah and these drivers bring up stupid extra prompts for file transfers)
So were clear to what I have... it shows Motorola Mobility LLC v6.3.0 in "programs" the Device Manager shows 2.4.5
bump.
super bump!
You should be able to see your phone in My Computer. Just treat it like a usb or external drive.
The drivers work in the background. They're not an actual application.

It's because you have the software set to automatically attempt a backup of your data when connected to a computer. All you need to do is find the program in your task bar and disable the auto backup setting.

Yep, that helped a lot hard to believe it was that easy or stupid.. but I still don't like the prompts the Motorola still brings up.. but yah the good news is I don't have a webpage opening every time I plug in my phone

Finow x3 plus sideloading

I have this watch and have a lot of questions but will try and keep it simple.
There are some apps that I cant download right from the GooglePlay store and I cannot seem to get the edges to show so I may be missing a toggle like "agree to terms" to allow for the install. Yes I know this watch has the "zoom" feature which is supposed to fill the screen in a circle and when disabled makes it a square to view the whole screen and not to miss anything, and it does do that but NOT in the GooglePlay store it always stays zoomed in no matter what I do so I guess my question is:
Is there a way to side load apps with this watch? When I plug in my cradle to USB on my windows 10 machine it shows in "Devices and Printers" but does not show up as a drive(which I have had with previous smartwatches), and when I click on "properties" it shows all good except the MTP driver is not good. Thus would make sense why it is not showing up as a drive for me to side load.
I tried to safely "eject drive" for it and it did and I reconnected but still have issue. I searched internet for drivers and downloaded a really bad virus which took me a while to get rid of doing a system restore.
Anyway does anyone have a link to the real working drivers for the Finow X3 Plus so I can see it as a driver and sideload apk's to it?
Thanks!
Also is there a program that will mirror my screen on my watch to a PC or my cell phone (also Android)? That would be the best actually if it was interactive mirror. I know they have programs for Android cellphones that will do that but not sure about smartwatches especially this model.
Hi bro
Try this
http://roundandroidwatches.proboards.com/thread/298/download-apps-play-store-easily
I user the Vysor plugin for Google Chrome. All you need to do is connect the USB cable and that's it.
Along with minimal ADB and Fast boot - it's all you need really.....

At first I had horrible connection issues with Vysor but seems to be stable now. Nice program!!!!
But still I cannot view full screen. Sure I downloaded the "search settings" app and can tripple click each corner to zoom in corners but they are still rounded corners and it is not showing full square image it is still round.

I switched off mine, charged it up to 100%, put it away from the charger untouched for 1 day, restart the watch and had 100% battery.

I don't have any charge issues. Just limited functionality. And I haven't had any luck transferring files via Bluetooth. I can link the watch to my Samsung S8 phone, share a file via Bluetooth from the phone, but the transfer always fails. I don't know if it's me, the phone or the watch.

Did you accept the file transfer at the watch? You have to pull down the notification area and have to accept the file transfer.

It won't run on my Samsung Galaxy S8 either.
I hope someone figures out how to install the Google Play Store app on the watch. Aptoide is difficult to use for me.
Also, I noticed that when installing an app, the Install and Cancel buttons are almost not visible at the bottom of the screen. Is there a way to scroll/drag the screen?
Many of the icons are too small for my fingers. Is there a small stylus available anywhere that works with the watch? I installed Chrome so a stylus would help with using that as well.

There are new Versions of the Apps, for watch and Phone. Take a look at
my Postst #2, give them a try. For me it's working now.
Hello Backers,
The first software update is now available and it focuses on the data transfer between the watch and your smartphone app. For those that were having issues with the app and data transfer we’ve updated the software to allow for a better experience for transferring photos from the watch to your phone.
Cloud update services are not available at this time but please follow these simple instructions to update your watch:
1. Enable Bluetooth on smartwatch & phone.
2. Connect them with eachother.
3. Enable the installation from unknown source on your watch. (settings > security > unknown source)
4. Download http://arrowsmartwatch.ml/ on your computer.
5. Once the APK is on your computer, share it via Bluetooth to your Arrow Smartwatch. (if you don’t know, just google how to share files with Bluetooth, it’s very easy)
6. Once you’ve pressed the sharing button, you’ll have to accept the file on your watch.
(Swipe down from the top of your Arrow screen, to open the notification bar. Now press on the Bluetooth notification and hit the accept button.)
7. Now go to the file manager and search the Bluetooth folder.
8. The APK is in that folder. It’s labelled Arrow2
#9 is for ANDROID users only and this is your new Arrow Smartphone App. Please download from the following link.
9. Download this on your Android phone http://arrowsmartphone.ml/
This watch update was tested by a few beta testers within the backer community with good results. It should allow many of you that were having trouble to start transferring photos and videos from the watch to your phone. The next planned update will focuses on connectivity, apps and notifications.
As for the remaining Arrow inventory we continue to wait for Chinese customs to give us an answer on the status of our units. They said Chinese New Year would create a delay of up to a month or two so we will post an additional update soon outlining the details of this extremely frustrating and prolonged ordeal. Our goal remains to ship all remaining units to backers as soon as this custom issue is cleared.
Inquiries about the above can be sent to [email protected] as this is our primary contact method.

Thanks! Is this a new version of the OS? Or a customized version?
Hii! Not sure if people are still using the watch.. I took it out last week and again remembered why I packed it back. The battery drain is just insane!
Was anyone able to get a different OS version installed on the watch,,? Is it even possible? What are this risks?
What are my options to experiment?
