Back up applications before HR - Legend General

Hi friends,
I know there are a lot of apps which can back up the apps installed on Android, but also a lot of them are not working as they should on exact devices.
If you did so and it worked, please tell me which apps will definitely back up the apps on LEGEND without problems. Thanks for the posts.

newbie question

Hi all,
I've just taken delivery of a Vodafone HTC Magic today and been having a quick mess around. First impression are good but slightly frustrated as my previous phone was a Kaiser and I was able to do pretty much any tweaks I wanted to. I like it though.
A couple of questions:
Is there a file explorer for Android?
Likewise is there a memory management tool for Android? (I've noticed that apps on Android are never 'closed down' but you just navigate away using the back button. I'm wondering if the apps are still running in the background.
I have unlimited data package which is awesome. I'm currently syncing all my Google apps but does this mean that 3G is always on? I'm finding that there's an unusually high battery drain.
cheers in advance
Hi
Check App. market for File manager, Personally I use ASTRO its free.
I think you will find a task manager in the market too, I don't use one because Android have Its own way to manage memory, It keeps the last 6 Apps you run, in the memory,, If you hold Home button for 2 sec you will know what I mean.
I hope this was helpful
hi,
That was very helpful thank you.

Problems after rooting

Hello,
I hope someone can assist me with this. I apologize if this is not the right place to post this.
I rooted my phone few days ago. The reason is so I can install apps on the sd card and have better phone control overall.
I installed jesusfreke rom cupcake.
Also installed swapper, appstosd, overclock widget, as well as a lot of applications.
It seems that after some time the phone now actually runs slower. Another problem is that it seems as a lot of processes are running at the same time.
Apps keep crashing on me, especially google apps that run in the background.
I suspect the problem might be the sd card. It is 2 gb split into two partitions.
To be honest - I was curious in running the game idracula that kept lagging like crazy. It would run somewhat ok if no background apps are running. It gets laggy at some point and then I get forclose messages of background apps - any way of preventing background apps to run?
Last question - any specific rom recommended to run?
Thanks,
Doron
the cyanogen roms
Thank you - I just installed it and I like it so far. Have not experienced any problems yet.

You should go ahead at this point and explore that ROM as well as enomther's rooted version of the T-mobile ROM and the JACxROM.
Each has slightly different features, so find what you like.

Thank you - I will give them a try at some point. Any other roms to recommend?
Well there is either cupcake based time like JF or cyanogen. Or hero based like jac or dizzy or any of the others just read their threads and if they sound good go for it.

[Q] Very slow and laggy Legend

Hey.
I have Legend since few months and now I have a slight problem with it. It get so laggy sometimes that after I press END CALL after the call, I must wait 3-5 seconds sometimes for menu to get back to the desktop (during this time a contact photo is still on the screen. will factory reset help? it is happening also after a reboot after 1-2 hours. It is unbranded, unrooted, with the latest OTA update available in Europe.
next thing is that when the phone is laying still, and someone calls me, the ringtone gets muted after 1-2 seconds. can anyone help me with these?
What all applications have you installed on it ?
It could very well be some buggy application.

Very well, indeed.
I had similar problems with Desktop Visualizer and Launcher Pro for example. Having too many custom shortcuts and size-heavy images on the home screens caused my phone to slow down to a an unpleasent extent.
Well first of all launcher pro. But before it was flying. I have around 100megs free on Phone memory, some apps (before it was ok), few games biggest one is angry birds and that all. And widgets smoothcalendar, launch x pro and beautiful widgets.
Sent from my HTC Legend using Tapatalk
I don't think launcher pro is the culprit here.
But you might wanna check the widgets you' ve installed. Some of them could be clogging the resources.
Try backing up all your apps, uninstall third party stuff one by one and see if they're is any difference.
If you have root (soft root is enough) you could use titanium backup app (free) from market. It'll make the job of backing up and restoring your apps a breaze (including the data and preferences)
I forgot about Skype which is also bigger than other apps. And of course im using advance task killer - maybe that is the problem?
I dont have a root im waitin for official friggin froyo from htc, then im gonna root for sure.. I h8 Sense but its clock app and dialer is unreplaceable.
is there any fast way to root legend without goldcard? (i think I read somewhere that goldcard is only required for branded devices - am i right?)
You could try removing apps one by one and see their effect.
I personally use system panel (purchased, not the free one) installed which enables you to monitor battery/cpu usage. That does help me in identifying stealthy apps which just sits there and consume the resources.
You can do soft root without going through all those lengthy rooting procedure.
You could try modaco visionary, did work for me. use the temp root option to have soft root. and you'll have root till you reboot.
http://android.modaco.com/content/h...m/320722/19-nov-r14-visionary-one-click-root/
rooting is not persistent throughout reboots, so you'll have to use the app every time after you reboot if you need root again.
I used this guide to root my legend and install a froyo rom. it was kind of easy, even creating the gold card was simple.
http://bandla.wordpress.com/2010/09/18/htc-legend-guide-to-rooting-and-installing-froyo-rom/
If you indeed go ahead with it, just make sure to insert the created gold card before running the file
RUU_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.31.405.5_R_Radio_47.26.35.04_ 7.05.35.26L_release_126592_signed.exe
when they say that in the guide.
for the backup using titanium backup, soft root is enough for you.
ok I will try it.. thanks for help, I hope that it will solve my problem

[Q] Gingerblur - Files safe to delete

Hey all, I'm visiting from the Evo 4G forum. I'm running Team Xron and SwampGoblin Droid X Port. I must say, I am impressed, I have heard negative things about Blur. But after using the device and the ROM, I am impressed at how it works and runs.
Back to topic, I am interested in what files/APKs are safe to remove. I am mostly interested in the System apps, but other files safe to delete would be nice too. I have experimented before, but I get occasional problems, such as when I click on a contact it closes. So I have come before the Droid X-ers for your help.
So, simply put, what files/APKs are safe to delete? I am running Gingerblur, system version 4.5.596.MB810.Verizon.en.US build number 4.5.1_57_DX5-3
Thanks ahead for the help!
To Be Honest with you, for the gingerbread update it seems that motorola incorporated everything together. I have had to SBF back to froyo about 3-4 times, because I've tried to delete a multi-tude of different native apps / system files. If you delete social stuff, it kills contacts, if you delete other items, your screen goes black and you cant do anything lol. just leave it stock untill another good rom comes out for it.
Ah well, the ROM is pretty slimmed down anyways. I just wanted to get rid of email and stuff that I don't use. Thanks for the help, root on!
It can be very frustrating to figure out which Blur apps do what.
I froze about ten of them and would later find that something like airplane mode is broken, or that adding a contact causes a force close.
I wish Motorola were straightforward about the purpose of apps. Trashing cardock shouldn't make me wonder if anything else will go missing with it.

[Help] Can't switch between apps / apps don't stay in memory

Hey guys, I ride asking this question in the general help thread but didn't get much answers there.
I have been having problems with my N4 lately, in the sense that apps don't stay in memory when I leave them, like they used to. Instead the phone restarts the apps every time I switch between them.
For example, if I open a few tabs in opera, switch to another app, when I switch back to opera it restarts the app and all my tabs are closed.
I have similar problems in all apps, that when switching they don't stay as they were but restart every time. I also get a lot of launcher redraws.
I'm on stock Rom, rooted, no battery saving or memory managing apps.
Thanks guys for any help

check this: settings>developer options>background process (scroll down everything) and check STD limit, maybe for some reason your system is closing apps trying to free memory
other hands install something like sytem panel and check was eating your memory
