[SOLVED]Cant get windows live messenger to work! - Windows Mobile

I checked and checked and couldn't see anything wrong with the package but everytime I click the messenger icon and either nothing happens, or the name appears on the top bar for a split second and then the start menu closes. So I disabled it and tried cooking it in as a cab, and I get the exact same problem. Might it have something to do with the new sys? 23557
Thanks in advance chef central

Hi [OP], I am using 23557 too with EVK, Live Messenger works fine here, try to include these SYS packages: WindowsLive, WindowsLiveIM, and LiveSearch. These packages also needed too, if you want to setup live (hotmail) account thru email setup wizard because they need WML engine exist on the rom

I dont have live search in my sys packages

This are the packages needed for WLM to function.
WindowsLive
WindowsLiveIM
WindowsLive_Lang_0409
WindowsLive_DPI_192
If that doesn't work, remove them all and use my package.
You can also use these 4 packages from another build and see if it works.
app.dat directs to 'Internet' folder in start menu but you know how to change now.
Edit, I forgot you also need to edit app.reg in 0409 folder like this:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Messenger.lnk]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_Messenger.png"

This is an extension to this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=398173
Didn't want to post it there as it would get lost and i'm sure a lot of chefs could use it.
Sharing the latest Iolite OEMs that I just finished making. Thanks to xplode for providing the cabs . This includes:

Please let me know if any of the OEMs aren't working.
edit: I personally tried cooking my OEM into my Hermes ROM, but it wasn't so nice. Anyhow, thanks to xplode, he provided the packages from the dump so all these should work (all credits go to him including the links):
Full OEM folder dumped from Iolite
Rapidshare Mirror, Megaupload Mirror
Manila2D folder was empty so i redid the thing with a fixed OEM for M2D.
Can you also post comm manger, boot launcher, enlarge start menu, large title bar, task manager from iolite? Cause they seem to be missing from hergs iolite package

If you provide the CABs, i can make them into OEMs. The CABs that xplode released didn't include the parts you were talking about so i couldn't make them.
I cooked these OEMs in my rom, but touch flow will not start? I'm not new at this either I have made my own versions of these exact things, I just wanted to see if you had done something different or if there was a bit more fuctionality out of the footprints tab. I have been having a trouble with this tab since I got the Iolite rom when first released. Any Ideas?

you need mhubvo
OTHER: Is it just me, or does the patched Manila2D.exe really have an invalid signature (even signtool crashed when I tried to correct it)? The WM emulator didn't like that file until I properly signed it.

Hello,
Some problem for me. I tried to use signtool but it gave error, I think there is some problems in patched exe.
Anyway, The patched manila.exe works but patched album.exe is not working. If I open htc album, only it loads ( waiting icon and then goes ). Its does't opening. Should I install any other app or files.
BTW; I have all ready installed dshow, fps and mhub/vo.
Best Regards

No I didn't patch it, but it doesn't work for me either. (Footprints in general doesn't work for me unfortunately), It seems it also needs HTCCamera1.dll and ConcurrenceMgr.dll, but they doesnt work this way either

Restore Original Pop Out Scroll Bar

Hi Guys,
I'm using the Dusk theme and bars etc.. Once I'd installed I noticed that the Pop Out scroll bar had vanished. This I thought was an extremeeeeeely useful setting....
So I hard reset and dumped the today reg from HKCU, after a little messing about figured that I'd just import the reg keys from the original settings. Here are the keys
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Today\ScrollBar]
"ScrollBarThumbThemeImage"="\\Windows\\HTCblack_scrollbarThumb.png"
"ScrollBarThumbThemeImageBottomMargin"=dword:00000022
"ScrollBarThumbThemeImageLeftMargin"=dword:00000008

"ScrollBarTrackThemeImageRightMargin"=dword:00000000
"ScrollBarTrackThemeImageTiled"=dword:00000000
"ScrollBarTrackThemeImageTopMargin"=dword:00000000
"ScrollBarUpArrowButtonDisabledThemeImage"=""

I'm sure there is a genius in here that could turn this into a cab. Otherwise, copy the text save in a text file add "Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00" as the first line of the text file.
Rename as a .reg file. Import with your preferred reg tool.
In recent posts I've been berated for my efforts to help. I'm no genius, but I have tried this and it's working on my o2 device.
BACKUP BEFORE TRYING. EITHER THE REG ENTRIES OR THE ENTIRE DEVICE
Hope this helps someone
remove .txt from the attached file.
BIG Thanks to johncmolyneux for the cab.
It doesn't work for me. I changed the theme to one of the other pre-installed ones and set the registry values as described above, but there was no change (after a soft reset).
I have made a cab file, but I'm not gonna upload it till we know why it didn't work and I've fixed it.
Did you import all of the values or change a few?
I tried the change a few initially and all I got was the original original (i.e.wm5) scrollbar.
When I imported the file in the first post it worked. These were the only changes that I'd made.
Do you have the original ROM?
The Pop out images are in the windows directory named "01THUMBxxx"

The Dusk theme isn't one of the pre-installed themes is it? Did you try it with one of them?
I didn't..... I only used the HTCBlack theme (Which I think it set by default).
I therefore also don't know if the Pop Out Bar is present in the other themes.
I'm going to do a backup and try another theme.
Confirmed working on the DVF Green Theme
Confirmed working on the Classic Blue Theme
Works perfectly, thanks!
There's a lot of misplaced spaces in what you posted, after removing them, it works.
Nvm: comment removed.

I just read it from the screen - it's the simplest way to then recreate the structure in Visual Studio. I've already had spaces in my posts before now, so I was aware of that issue.
Anyway, I've fixed the cab file and it works a treat now, so I'll send you a link to it so you can download it and attach it to the 1st post, rather than have it here on the second page.

Could you you create a cab or still having error?

[Problem] [ERROR]Please check HTCLOG

I recently updated my OSKitchen from 1.26 to 1.30/1alpha only to find that now when I cook a ROM I get the [ERROR]Please check HTCLOG message on bootup. I updated a few EXT packages at the same time but nothing critical - my OEM and SYS are untouched from when my ROM's were working just fine under OSK 1.26.
Any ideas what's causing this error message? It was suggested by someone that my RunCC may be calling config.txt files with faulty values in them, but I've checked the config's and all seems fine (only modification by me is to use amarullzgreenblack.tsk instead of classicblue.tsk and this is untouched from previous working ROMs).
Really don't want to have to rebuild the damned kitchen from scratch

Normally it will point you to the culprit. You need to check all the config txt's ie config_ap, config_operator, etc. It could be a bad cab, xml, tsk, etc being called up by one of the config txt's.

There's no information in the box that appears other than the error message, so no clues as to what's failing. Having checked all my config files from the runcc.lua the only thing that is called at all is the amarullzgreenblack.tsk, which is being cooked in and as I said it's been working fine for my last 5 or 6 roms without change.
The only thing I've noticed is that the older OSK I was using (1.26) sorted some packages containing config.txt's into the OEM dir, while the new OSK puts them into EXT. Folder structure is then different and I think it must be this that's broken it. I've tried rebuilding the OEM's as EXT's but it still won't work

Try changing the tsk thats called up by config.txt to one Classic Blue or something other than amarullzgreenblack.tsk just to rule that out.

Tried that, still wouldn't work. If I cook without RunCC the ROM will boot without error, but then the initial customisation doesn't run i.e. no SIM or operator settings are made.
I don't think I'm going to get to the bottom of this so I've started building a new kitchen. Does anyone know which packs from Leo 2.14 will make my ROM TMOUS HD2 compatible? I can't remember...

A little help for a budding Chef!

Hi Guys,
I'm currently attempting building a ROM using the OSkitchen. I've managed to get the ROM to boot and removed all the stuff i dont want.
I've figured out how to add CAB's to the EXT packages to install the stuff i want...
There's a few things i'd like to know how to do - i've tried searching but not really found any useful info for the following things - any help would be much appreciated and im looking forward to releasing my ROM for you guys
* How do i customise where an application is installed to in the start menu - As an example the icon changer application installs into its own folder 'JWD apps'?
* How can i apply Registry tweaks and other settings so i dont have to set them after Flashing?
* And Finally how do i enable the extra RAM? I'm using a T-mobile base and Radio version 2.10.50.08_2.
Thanks a lot for any help offered.

I have not dealt with the first question, but for #2 all you have to do is create a new EXT package and add app.reg with all of the registry settings and tweaks you want to do. Label is something like Z_Tweaks so it gets processed last.

1.- Many apps needs one special folder to be installed: like "Program files\JWD apps\" and many others run fine just in Windows\ so you can try to do this... open the file called app.dat in your app ext pkg... make a backup of your ext pkg... then delete all the entries in that file, but dont delete the entrie that puts the lnk into "windows\start menu\programs... It means that all the files will be intalled in windows folder... locate the lnk of that app open it with a txt editor like notepad and change the route to Windows\jwd icon changer.lnk or exe i dont know the exact name... and try to run the app from start menu... if it works ok... you will be able to run the app without double files in windows and programfiles... that lnk entrie in the app.dat allows you to select where does the icon will be in the start menu honeycomb... and you can edit all entries if you like into another folder... but remember not all apps works like this.
2.- already correctly answered
3.- there is an answer i guess.... mmm in the thread that says something like "is it safe to use tmous 2.10 as base rom to cook wwe?" or something like that search using the tool you have the right keywords you will have the right answer
Thanks so much for the answers guys - exactly what i was after - i'll get cracking with these tonight
I think i've found the info i need for enabling the 576mb RAM - i guess i'm just using the incorrect Tmous base, i'll download another and see what the result is...
Cheers

you need the nk.exe from a tmous rom, plus a radio of 2.06.50.x or higher, but only with 50 in the radio version, not the 51 radios.

[SOLVED] cookng tomtom7 in leo rom

hi everybody cane someone help please i want to cook tomtom app in leo rom using oskitchen,is it possible? and how please.thanks
Just import it from cab and cook it,maybe delete the 2 BTxxxxx.dll from the imported package.
thank you very much for reply,i am gona give this a try now.
Also, If you do this and then find you have issues with Manila, simply remove the phone.dll from the tomtom EXT as well as the two BT ones.

hi i cant find these files in package.can you please look at attachment and tell me what i am doing wrong.thanks
sorry i have to remove exe file from zip because of size limit.
Sorry have to post and run as have a train to catch.
What I did was onvert the TomTom cab using Oskitchen. Whilst the cab created no issues for me, the EXT produced rom it did. First step was to remove the two BT files. I still had an issue and removing the phone.dll I think it was sorted it. If you dont have them in the EXT then fine - you dont need to remove them.
I will try and post my EXT at the weekend but I need to strip out my TomTom traffic and initial setup files for my user account etc, and am away from home.

thank you very much your help is much appreciated.
Still not gonna have much time at home to sort this out, but if you have oskitchen, just find the TomTom cab for the HD2, (Mine works well on Rhodium because of the keyboard) and import it using the built in oskitchen tool. The only other thing I would do (in my case) is delete the two BT dlls and the Phone.dll. from the files folder.
Job done.

Try this.

Not my current package as that is a hybrid that contains personal stuff, but I did what I suggested and imported the cab to oskitchen and deleted the useless files.
Let me know if it sorts it out.
