Wake on Notifications, - Desire Themes and Apps

Hey guys
Anyone know an app to wake the screen upon emails and text? I like the sleep mode features but can't tell when people contact me!
Sent from my HTC Desire using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

Vibrate and Sound notification are not enough?
If I am not mistaken, you can use app called "Missed call".
It could be set to remind you again and again and again.
http://www.cyrket.com/p/android/de.anno.android.missedCallDroid/

Is that just calls though? I want calls, emails and text.
If I am not near my phone I may never know ...

Check the app

You do realise that there's a LED light that blinks right?

Yeah, but it doesn't do it for long and rather have a solid light and be able to change the colour .

Features lost or worsened in 2.1

Lost or removed features:
- Automatic brightness
- Green Led notification for unread SMS
Worsened features:
- GPS settings
- GPS popup warning each time GPS is enabled
New bugs:
- Low resolution contact pictures
Replaced functionalities:
- Dedicated SMS backup to SD card, superseded by Backup&Restore application, which is unable to restore old backup format.
I would like to collect and discuss all the features removed or lost in the 2.1 update, as well as the new bugs, annoyances, and the features that have somehow worsened.
Please post you list, I will update accordingly the opening post.
This should also be the place where to discuss these issues or post workarounds.
For me a big problem is GPS. The additional setting is gone, and now every time you activate GPS via the widget, you get the confirmation popup
But even worst, the confirmation popup appears even if an application enables GPS in background!
I read auto bright is still there, seems it is on the widget now
Lost Features :
No more Green Led notification when you receive a sms

No, it's a three state: minimum bright; settings bright; maximum bright

Supposedly works just fine if the screen is off.
Feature Worsened:
The signal-to-noise ratio on these forums is far far too low.

Just done a test. With the screen off, I sent me an SMS. I got the new message sound, and then the green led remained off.
You can use BLINK for your LED thing.
I been using it but not sure if you can use it for SMS...

Weird. I've found my phone not blinking for other notifications too, on 1.6.
Have you tried another SMS app?

its one less thing to worry about .
I had a total freeze on stock browser last night couldnt close it down properley had to restart. got used to that though from nokia 5800/x6. thought id seen the last of it.
Luckily it has not happened since so ill give it the benefit of the doubt this time.
worsened: The exchange native support is removed from Android 2.1 and they still got Moxier in there
I am going to use my root to remove all default Google apps so I can install the cyanogenmod versions... see if i can't get exchange back in the mail app and remove bloat.

[Q] Notification LED

When the G2 first came out, I saw owners asking if they could get the LED (showing power/charging status) working as a notification LED. Fair enough, I thought, I'm sure someone will get that working.
However, when I got my DZ, I found in the settings (under "Display"), a section on "Notification flash", subtitled "Flash LED light for notifications". Then under that section you can turn on or off "Missed Call", "SMS/MMS", "Email", etc. Mine are all ticked, but when I get an SMS the LED doesn't flash.
In the PDF manual, the section on Settings->Display doesn't mention anything about this.
Does this work for anyone else ?
EDIT - Mine does work after all ! It's the trackpad LED that flashes. See post #21 in this thread
the option in the setting reffers to the trackpad light doesn't it?

I didn't think so, but I don't know for sure. Anyway, nothing seems to flash, neither the trackpad nor the power LED.
Same here, all ticket, but nothing happens !!
It works here, i can remember pad glowing on/off slowly. Also when got mail, the green led is blinking iirc. I will try to observe this more now if it works in all cases...

I have no notification sound on new mail either. It does vibrate but nog sound.
All boxes are ticked (vibrate and sound) in the mail options...
U can use the LED for notifications when you install a program like sms pop up.
Standard the light notifications are set to use the track pad
Use the app LED me know , does exactly what you need it to do and more !!

Try the "LED me know" app from the Market, it's working great for me - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=851220
It works on desire Z in both modes normal and compatibility.
I find it strange I don't see "Touchpad" until I enable Compatibility mode, I was expecting to see more options in normal, less in compatibility, as the name suggests.
At first I thought my LED was not flashing when I got an SMS, but i've realise its the trackpad surrounding light that flashes. Theres a long delay between flashes which is probably why i didnt notice it at first.

That's the stock ROM that the standard European DZs seem to have (I mean English ROMs). So the same as me. Weird, because it doesn't work for me at all.

Its faulty then, send it back pal. When you receive an sms, the 1st 'pulse' of the light is when you get your vibration, then every 10 seconds ish after that.
I have no problems with this either however is kind of weird.
When I get mail, the led that is located at the top of the telephone (the one that changes color when charging from red to green when is fully charged) flashes.
However if it is a sms or miss called the one that flashed is the trackpad.
Is this suppose to be like this?
I think it's the same for me. Also, from what I've noticed, the upper LED will flash indefinitely until the email notification is dismissed, while the trackpad ring for SMS will only flash for a few minutes, not until I actually read the SMS.
Don't remember what the notification is for missed calls, I'll have to test more. I'd like to have that ring flash whenever I have an unread notification, and keep doing so until I dismiss the notification... The way it's now, also using the upper LED, seems inconsistent.

Temporary fix to the Notification sound not going off. :)

Hey... I don't know if anyone has posted this here before but I found a fix to it although it's temporary (kind of). So basicly when texting I'd send my message then go to the home screen and turn the screen off, but doing that means it won't notify you to tell you you've got a new text, eg. through sound, vibration or in the status bar so I started trying somethings after each text I sent and it turns out all you need to do to make it notify you is after exiting to the home screen, just open and close the app draw Simples
Well it works for me anyway
Thanks but the???? Lol aghast you guys and your unrooted phones lol

Aha.. Yeah hopefully

app that tells you unread messages by vibrating on key press in your pocket

hey guys, is there an app or mod of some sort that tells you if you have unread messages by say, pressing the camera button and the phone will vibrate if you have a message. that way i dont have to take the phone out of my pocket to check.

Have you though about Liveview from Sony Ericsson? very useful
I have a notification LED for that purpose, if you remove the charger tap the light will come out and you can see the LED blinking without taking the phone out

If you have it in your pocket, wouldn't you feel the phone vibrate when the message actually comes in?
I don't think anyone developed something like this because you either feel the phone vibrate in your pocket at the moment the message arrives - or you don't feel it vibrate at all because it's in a bag or something, where you would have to take it out anyway.
So not much hope here.
Edit: The closest you will get to this are stock message replacements like Handcent or chomp sms, that have a reminder function to vibrate every x minutes if there are unread messages/calls on your phone. These apps are pretty customizable, take a look at them! Handcent sms has this function for sure, don't know about chomp sms, though.

idea for led notification.

Hi all i just had an idea for all the people that want a led notification when they miss a call or get and email, fb notification , twit anything really.
You could have the two led back and menu buttons flash when the phone is in standby, letting you know there is a notification waiting that you have not seen since the last your phone was on.
Now i don't know how to do this but i put the idea out there for devs could be some thing useful for some people?
What you are looking for is bln (backlight notification) which needs to be baked into the kernal. There was a thread about it in the dev forum. Seems to have died though.

Hi,
with the Omnia 2 we had the same problem. Somebody solved it this way!
Perhaps something like this is possible on S2, too?
Rgds
Agreed..Only needs to be a soft pulse to notify the end user

+1.. Use NoLed , its an awesome app , but I always check my phone so I dont need any of these apps xD
Since noled keeps phone cpu in awake state, its non comparable to button light kernel hack (which causes almost no battery usage change at all, like on phones with dedicated notification leds)
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA App
Yeh that's why i made the suggestion so that your screen is not on awake.
Having the menu button and back button to be personalized "like missed call for menu and back for sms " . This would be good i think
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
Funny because I was thinking of the lack of notification today, but want something different. I would like the led to light up like a heart beat when connected to usb charger. I simply hate that I can't see if my device is charging in the car.. how does this sound?
