Can somebody explane how i can install the software from this site on my phone.I download the zip files, extract and put thim on my memorycard , but can not install them, what do i wrong

It depends what files you are unzipping. If they are cab files inside the zip file, then you put the cab file on your phone and then using file explorer, click on the cab file. If the files are .exe's then you put them on your phone and again, using file explorer, click on them. If they are manila files, you should disable touch flo in start/settings/today/items, use file explorer (or better still Total Commander), put the file in the Windows folder and then re-start touch flo....
it are cab files , i put them on my memorycard , with explorer search them but can not installed it

Its possible that what you are doing is actually unzipping the cab files, even though they show up on your pc as zip archives, they are not meant to be unzipped, it would help if you gave us an example of what you are trying to install. but try just taking the whole file without unzipping and then clicking on it from file explorer

That file is not a zip file but a cab file. You should not unzip it. Just copy it to your phone and click on it with file explorer.
Everytime i click on it winzip open the file
You have to see the tread about the link a paste, you will see its a zip file

It's a CAB file!
you are not supposed to do anything to those files on your pc, just copy them to your phone, and open them in the file explorer on your phone. like I said before, your pc thinks they are zip files, so winzip will open them when you click on them on your pc, but your phone should know they are .cab files.

Open the file with winrar. IF it doesnt open then its an installshield installer.
If it is an installshield installed, it's still possible - run it (but don't do anything) and it will create a temporary folder in your temp folder with all the extracted files in it.
Just copy them to another folder before you quit the installer as it will delete them when you do.

seems like most of the ROMs are .exe files and can't be opened with Winrar!!

Almost ALL the roms can be opened with winrar....very easily.

Right-click on the exe and select "extract files"
Unzip with winrar indeed. You can also install the executable until where you have to make setup choices, like cancel and continue. Then look in your temp folder for the newly added folder with the nbh file in it. It depends on your OS where these file reside. Search for *.nbh files on (probably) your c drive will locate the folder as well.

when you have winrar is shows cab files as archives
no it does not have anything say .cab i only see setup.xml that is it.when I click on that to install with my wing it open that folder all I see is words and symbols.
Lol, that's what is usually inside a cab. An xml and a few other files. Just run that "rar" on your device and you'll be fine and if you want, you can just rename the file to xxxxxx.cab instead of rar.
my device does not have Winrar to extract the files.I only can extract with my desktop.after extract it,it replace as a folder.I have tried rename that folder as xxxxx.cab and copy it to my storage card via Activesync.when I open that file to run,it does not install as like other file such as google map from google site.am I dumb or what
If the IFonz cab is compressed as a rar file, use winrar on your computer to open the rar file. You can download winrar for free - just google it. Once you have opened the rar file with winrar you will see what looks like another rar file inside. This is the cab. Do not open this. Simply drag and drop this to your desktop *or wherever you want on your computer* and then place that on your device. then use your device and navigate to where you placed the cab and simply click on it to install.

windows see cab file as zip or rar (whatever u have anyway).......u just have to copy that "zip" file (which is a cab actually) to your card on the pda and from the pda (file manager etc etc) click it to install. DO NOT extraxt the "zip" file just copy it ....

the best way to unpack these .rar files is on your pc, and then copy the .cab file to your ppc, to start installing the game.

I've never felt so stupid. I've got Unrar on my computer and it seems to be unacking things, but it does it in a heartbeat and then I don't know where it's sending the unpacked files; i can't find them anywhere. where the heck do I look. The program doesn't seem to have a screen or any functions; it's doing something in the background AND making me feel like an idiot. Anyone got a "Well duh!" to help me blush?
right click the rar file and click extract here.
It will extract it to the same location you have the rar file.
hello guys, i dont own an hd2 yet but ill buy one this month but i have a question i want to add some cabs file on my device when i get. My question is i have download some cabs BUT when i open the winrar i dont get any cab file, all i get is some files that has bunch of numbers and one of them says "_setup.xml" so what should i do? should i directly put the winrar file on my hd2? since i dont get any cab file inside the winrar?? and if there's a cab file inside the winrar and i press the button "extract here" should i just upload the cab file only to my hd2 right??

A CAB file is a compressed installer file for mobile phones.
If you open it with winrar, you will see all the files it contains.
Just copy the original .cab file to your phone.
Click on the .cab file, and it will run the installer, and install the program on your phone.
You can choose to install to the main memory or the sd card.
Yeah - as above. What you're calling a "winrar" file is the cab file.

Ok, I know this isn't the original question but...
is it possible to extract a .cab file - i mean to extract all the different files that make up the program , all the .exe .dll .ico etc etc. Wanting to do this to help me reverse-engineer a couple of omnia 2 cabs that don't work.

Tried that, all I get are 10 files. One of them is _setup.xml, the others are numbered files.
I've attached a screen capture of the files so you can see what they are.

Yes that's what you would expect as they are the cab install files.
If they don't mean anything are you sure you know what you're doing?
That's what I'm trying to find out. I assume that the WM program works in a similar way to windows program in that its a collection of files (exe, ico, dll, cfg so on so forth) that get installed in the appropriate places on the device. If so, how do you 'unpack' these files from the setup files
use a cab manager program. I don't so I can't recommend, but wincecab manager sound familiar. u can use them to create cabs of your tweaks, install files and such.
it seems that you have never used windows mobile (just copy the winrar file into the device and run it from the device)

I'm not trying to install a cab file (which the first post was about) I'm trying to decompile the omnia 2 video editor to get it to run on the HD2 but instead of starting a new thread, I asked on this one because it seemed (partially) relevant.
BTW, I've got the cab 'extracted' so thanks - no for the difficult part...

Yesterday i bought HTC Touch2 T3333..
I transfer the file to my device.. it is in .rar format.
When I try to open it - nothing happens.
At the first everything was ok, but now it just doesn't open.
Try to unrar it on your PC and send to your phone only cab files.
But if I unrar it, there isnt any .cab file anymore.
Save on your PC as zip-file. Unzip and see if this works.....
Otherwise download from the source again.....
And one more thing, Winrar shows cabs also as archives (like zip and rar). So make sure that this IS a cab - by turning on display of file extensions fro Folder->Options in Explorer.
There is windows mobile zip in it. If it's a ZIP File, it should expands and you'll find the cab.
If you don't. The only possible solution is that the download must have corrupted along the way and you have to redownload it or the uploader did not put the cab in it ^^
