Network problem with Blackstone

Hi I would like you to help me with my network settings.
I'm from Mexico city and I bought a HTC Blackstone few days ago. First of all let me tell you that in my country we don't have a provider for HTC phones, we just have some of them but the old ones. So I bough my Blackstone from a US online-store.
I did Hard SPL on my phone and installed Laurentius26 "L26_THDV5" ROM. After that I took some time to configure the network settings from my country and everything was ok. But my problem is that my Blackstone is not working on 3G mode, it's using EDGE. Actually I don't know how far the differences are, but I can feel that it's slower with Youtube or Internet than my previous phone (a Nokia N75). I don't know if I changed something with the new ROM or if there is some way to fix it and work on 3G mode because actually I'm paying that service with my provider (Telcel).
Please, could someone help me with it?
The Nokia N75 supports the 850MHz / 1900MHz 3G bands.
The HTC Touch HD supports the 900MHz / 2100MHz 3G bands.
Depending on your provider you will not have 3G at all.
are you sure ?
I've started a thread about this:

which options are present?

3g compatibility

Hey guys, I'm interested in purchasing this phone. Only thing I'm wondering about is the 3g compatibility in North America, specifically on Rogers Wireless in Canada. I know it is not compatible out of the box but wondering if one is able to make it compatible. May sound like a stupid question but I'm unaware on our it works. Thought since there are many ROM updates that it can change the 3g frequency. Thanks in adavnce.
If it doesn't work out of the box, it's not gonna work. The frequencies are hardware specific, so no ROM change would make it work. I'm not familiar with your carrier, but look up its 3g frequencies and then check if they match with those of the HD. (make sure to check the Australian HD as well, as it has slightly different frequencies and can work on AT&T in the US, while the normal HD cannot)
if Rogers is on the 850 3G band, then the Telstra Touch HD should work. i have the Telstra HD and it works on at&t's 850 3G network. unfortuantely, you WILL NOT be able to change 3G bands with ROM updates.
So if I were to obtain the Telstra HD, I am still able to update the ROM on the phone correct? That would be awesome news if the Telstra HD works on our Rogers network. Has anyone in Canada tried it? If so were can I obtain a Telstra HD that will ship to Canada? Thanks for the help guys
Hi,
I have the Touch HD (T8282 so not Telstra which is T8285) in Canada on Fido (which is owned by Rogers and works on the same network) and it works perfectly, however only on the EDGE network for my data plan. I have to say that it is still pretty fast and I dont suffer from not having 3G that much.
I would actually recommend changing the ROM (I have Dutty but I tried L26 too), since it will then come with a Network Wizard that will automatically detect the network and configure your phone automatically ( as opposed to doing it manually with a standard ROM).
Hope this helps,

question on 3G signal

Hi Guys,
i just got my Touch HD. Previously i was using a Nokia phone.
My SIM card is from Malaysia (Maxis). Currently i'm in US (Roaming).
My question is, when i'm using my nokia phone and connect to AT&T, i get a little icon on my nokia phone saying that i'm on their 3G network or connection.
But when i plug the same sim card into the Touch HD and connect to AT&T, i only get a "E" icon. i guess that is Edge, that means no 3G connection
Of Course, i'm using a 3G sim card.
i wonder, if i go back to Malaysia and connect to my home network, Maxis, will i be getting 3G signal
I would appreciate if someone could help me out here, thanks.
isn't there something about the blackstone and at&t network not supporting 3g?

thanks for the link. i've been searching for a lot of info for this HD these few days.... a crash course for me i might have missed this thread. just migrated from nokia - symbian to touch HD - wm6.1
I bought my nokia 5730 from malaysia, so it should have asia region 3G frequencies. When i bring that Nokia to US, i get the 3G signals when i'm connected to AT&T.
SInce Nokia 5730 and the Touch HD has similar frequencies, i thought it should work with AT&T in terms of 3G
The link that you've posted explained why HD does not work with AT&T 3G .... sigh ... they didn't open up the frequencies....

[Q] is there a rom to enable 4g on the hd2

hi i was reading online and someone was offering to flash a rom that is android on the hd2 and enable 4g does anyone know what this is?
I could be very well wrong but i presume its hardware enabled like wifi b/g/n etc
The HD2 is not a "4g" phone.
hd2 is 3g+ HSDPA so no it will never become possible...
no it is not possible to enable 4g as it doesnt have the hardware capable of this
