[Solved] [htcrt.exe Assistance] question pertaining to HD2 Tmobile - Windows Mobile

Hello Guys,
I am porting my kitchen over to HD2 and am using htcrt.exe to build the nbh at the end of the build process as i did during rhodium.
I currently have my settings in the .proj attached file as:
Code:
[Project]
Magic=kateiloveyou
Version=1
[Buildrom]
Device=HD2_TMob
ModelId=PB8112000
CountryId=11111111
VersionId=Josh's_Rom's
LanguageId=WWE
Sect_0x301=False,"Radio.nb"
sect_0x380=False,"radiocust.nb"
sect_0x600=False,"MainSplash.nb"
Sect_0x400=False,"os-new.nb"
Sect_0x920=False,"radioconf.nb"
Sect_0x610=False,"unknown-610.nb"
Sect_0x611=False,"unknown-611.nb"
What i would like to do is build in those extra nb's that i find in the stock so my nbh will be closest to stock nbh as possible.
I have the proj file setup correctly but when i go to edit the htcrt_devices.ini
I have this as my settings:
Code:
[HD2_TMob]
Experimental=0
ModelId=PB8112000
SignMaxChunkSize=64
RomSections=7, "0x100,IPL,0,TRUE", "0x200,SPL,524288,TRUE", "0x600,Splash,786432,FALSE", "0x601,Subsplash,0,FALSE", "0x301,Radio,20840448,TRUE", "0x700,""Ext. ROM"",0,FALSE", "0x400,OS,0,FALSE"
I would like it to add the extra nb's i mention above also into the ini but i am not sure as the ini seems to have extra numbers at the end of each entry and i'm not sure what they pertain to.
Does anyone know how i can accomplish this?

Thanks to some help from shane (Two Pump Chump) This has been sloved by using:
Code:
[LEO]
Experimental=0
ModelId=PB8112000
SignMaxChunkSize=64
RomSections=7, "0x200,SPL,524288,TRUE", "0x600,Splash,786432,FALSE", "0x301,Radio,20840448,TRUE", "0x700,""Ext. ROM"",0,FALSE", "0x400,OS,0,FALSE", "0x380,radiocust,0,FALSE", "0x920,radioconf,0,FALSE"

Btw.. you should dump htcrt. Da_G makes a much better tool that does this 10 times faster and it's much easier to configure.

great work anichillus, thankyou for sharing this with the community. I look forward to xploring your kitchen.
This looks great, I only have two questions, any issues in building the ROM or adding packages that have already had tadzio tools applied?
In your opening post you mentioned that you are able to use with any device with small modifications, what are these for a Hermes if any?
Thanks again for the new toy!
BTW, looks very professional and I love the web site, great explanations.
PLEASE NOTE THAT IT'S ORIGINALLY MADE FOR THE HTC WIZARD
I KNOW THAT IT WORKS ON OTHER TOO WITH LITTLE MODDIFICATIONS BUT I SUGGEST TO ASK ME FOR A VERSION SPECIFFICALLY.

None that i know of. It shouldn't have any problems.
But i strongly reccomend that if you don't have a HTC Wizard to ask before you try and do anything.
It's written also in the tutorial
I don't take credit for some of the applications that are included in this kitchen ... like bepe's package tool , tadzio's modified mamaich tools...and of course some of the 3rd party apps.
I take the credit only for the whole thing....i busted my ass of to gather all that and make them easy to use
The moddifications :
Almoust all programs are included already. I would only have to edit some batchfiles to use other programs or other commands for same.
If you know what you are doing, you could use it yourself
For Hermes there are some neat stuff in Tools\TTools - thx to tadzio of course
We use one RUU you use another....stuff like that
One friend of mine built an Terra ROM with this...it's not that hard

Hermes Please
First question, tried to dump ROM and I am getting an error
Error ! There is no nk.nbf in the core/extract/source
I place the ROM NBH in that folder, originally was name RUU_signed.nbh, I tried to rename to nk.nbh, didn't matter.
I am using a hermes.
See next post waiting for the Hermes modifications.

I will, give me little time to sleep lol
I will made moddifications for
HTC Herald / Terra/Wing
and I will do it for the Hermes too, but be litle patient.
You should use the "Dump nb and bin" and use the "Extra" way
The HTC Wizard uses a nk.nbf ..not a nbh. so...extract the .nb and run it thru the Dump nb and bin ... the extra option
You could extract the .nb with the little app in Tools\TTools\Tadzio\ ROMBaker.exe
You have to rename the *.nb into OS.nb and move it into Extract\ folder
It will split....but you won't be able to make it back unless you edit the
C:\Core\Tools\Batch\Create_ROM.bat according to your device....

The .nbh has to be extracted by nbhextract.exe in "tools" folder. then you will recieve os.nb, splash.nb, spl.nb etc
the os.nb can be placed in "extract" folder and then dump it by using "dump .nb and .bin" from extract panel.
lol

I cooked a terra rom with this - by using the wingdump imgf_raw.bin and the xip from terra rom. you dump the rum by using "dump .nb and .bin"
The only mistake i did - was editing the .hv files BUT i forgot to convert the boot.rgu back and that bricked my device.
But you can cook a rom. YOu only have to use PKT "manually". That´s all. Just follow the steps from the kitchen.
I cooked for example a terra rom without transcriber, autoupdate und included batterystatus and totalcommander - no problems with this, when using Aserg upgrade_rom.bat for falshing.
BTW - do you have an official WWE ROm for flashing - if something goes wrong? OK - it will be WM5 then but you can flash?
good luck.

I wouldn't test it on my phone because I don't have it CID Unlocked and couldn't risk it getting bricked as Tmobile hasn't released the official rom for download yet but i'll see what I can do as into building a rom. If you get a free chance this week, wanna walk me through it?
Glad to see you are providing my tiny initflashfiles generator. You added a great functionnality with the automated cab extraction. Well done !
So if I understand this correctly, if someone posted their dump from the Wing I could proceed to cook and flash to my unbranded P4350 using Aserg's method without the possibility of bricking since i have the official HTC WWE that I can re-flash?

For the wing dump you need the XIP from terra dump - but you find it in the Wing-dump thread from Herald forum.
And yes - you can cook - if you have an official rom. SO no worry to brick - you can go back to WM5. lol
Have a try. BUT you must use the "manual" way from PKT. Just follow all teh steps from kitchen. And use the "Dump .nb and .bin" from extract panel.

ThrottleBirthday : My first TL 0.9.3 Plugin -> Birthday notifier

Hi all,
I have developped a small plugin for TL 0.9.3 that will display the birthdays to come on any page.
There is no cab installer yet, I will try to find out how to make one if someone may ask for it.
It is my first try to developping in c#, so it may be bugged...
Please report any comment / error you may have
[09/03] : No more ini file. All the configuration is made through params in xml file. See ReadMe.txt in zip file for details.
Thanks.
I'll give it a look.

Hi!!
First of all thank you for developing a plugin for throttle . I've tested it and have a little issue:
- You're searching for the fixed path by using \Program Files\ThrottleLauncher\Plugins hardcoded... This has make plugin crash on my device as I have an Spanish ROM and path is "Archivos de Programa" instead of "Program Files". Also user's can have Throttle Installed on their SD card. The simplest alternative to take the path that will solve this two problems. Add a parameter to the throttleplugin:
Code:
<throttleplugin name="ThrottleBirthday" path="#$THROTTLE#\Plugins\ThrottleBirthday\ThrottleBirthday.dll" height="25" class="ThrottleBirthday.ThrottleBirthday">
<param name="path" value="#$THROTTLE#\Plugins\ThrottleBirthday\"/>
</throttleplugin>
Also you can get rid of the ini file by using params:
Code:
<throttleplugin name="ThrottleBirthday" path="#$THROTTLE#\Plugins\ThrottleBirthday\ThrottleBirthday.dll" height="25" class="ThrottleBirthday.ThrottleBirthday">
<param name="font" value="Arial"/>
<param name="size" value="10"/>
...
</throttleplugin>
That way people developing setups for throttle can parametrize your plugin so it can be configured through the main ConfigDialog of the setup by using:
Code:
<param name="font" value="#@ThrottleTodayFont#"/>
Now... as you are the first developer for plugins for throttlelauncher may I ask you how it was? Did you encounter any problems or lack of documentation?
thank you very much again!!
If I could do it...
Hi APBilbo,
First of all, thanks for the tips, I will do my best to apply them for the next version
Regarding the difficulties I had, I started from your HelloWorldPlugin and learned C# from scratch, and well, asides from the problem of getting Throttle directory, it was quite a piece of cake.
It was a pleasure (and a great fun !!!) to develop a plugin (as simple as it may be) for your Throttle, as this app is for me a good representation of what a pocket pc app should provide
I will be on vacation next week, but I was curious about developping a ThrottleCal.0.2...
Be sure you will have news from me
No more ini file
Hi all,
Thanks to APBilbo' advices , there is no more ini file, only params in the xml file, and it should work on any region ROM (no more hardcoded silly path ).
You may check the Readme.txt in the provided zip file for details.

[Kitchen]Polaris WM 6.5

[Kitchen]Polaris WM6.5
Build is 230176
download and extract to a folder with no space maybe Polaris_kitchen
Kitchen part 1 base
Kitchen part2 EXT folder put inside kitchen folder if named Polaris_kitchen just put this inside that folder
Just noticed something thats not right... go into ROM\Polaris\23016\OEMXipKernel and delete RecMod.exe I was making some changes in the xip and forgot to delete it again the rom will still work but it's not supose to be there
How to use
open Erviuskitchen.exe
press load ROM and choose on of the 3 options
press Create ROM now wait
when finished just close Erviuskitchen.exe
now goto RELEASE_POLARIS folder and use the custom_ruu.exe to flash your new rom
Link to a working 3g Dialer DJKoa_3G_Dialer_V2.CAB thanks to kostas244 for finding it
how to use the other options I'll explain later
making packages from OEM?
Put you OEM package in the EXT Package maker folder then drag and drop it on the EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe and you should have a EXT package ready to put in you kitchen.
note that some oem packages you download are separated into 2 folders exsample PACKAGE_MEGA_Album and PACKAGE_MEGA_Album_0409
just drag the PACKAGE_MEGA_Album_0409 (language pack) onto EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe and it will a folder called 0409 inside PACKAGE_MEGA_Album
now just drag and drop PACKAGE_MEGA_Album onto EXT_PAckages_rebuilder.exe and you have a finished EXT package with language files inside.
The package will be named appname then followed by the build number of the app
will add a cab to OEM and EXT later

Adding HTC Sense to Custom Rom

Hi cookers!
I'm looking for a tutorial on how to add Sense to roms I've cooked.........
Is there in the forum or somewhere out there some kind of instructions?
Thanks a lot!!!
Hi,
Welcome to Chefs Central
Could you tell for what device you are cooking?
It's requested in the 'Welcome to chefs Central' anouncement here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?f=612
It's important because if people don't know what resolution your device is it's impossible to give you the correct answer.
Also some info about which kitchen you are using would help a lot.

Sorry
I'm cooking for the Xperia X1 with Ervius VK....... but I'm just trying the OSKitchen right now....
I'm trying to add Sense 2.5 to my roms (WM 6.5.5 build 23563 or 23568)
Allright so that's a wvga device, thank you
Do you know how to dump a rom?
If so dump the rom which contains the Manila you want to cook in.
After dumping search in dump for initflashfiles.dat and open this file with a text editor.
Search for all Manila entries and copy them in a new .txt document.
Save this document as app.dat to a location you remember.
Next copy all Manila packages into your kitchen.
app.dat you can copy to the Core package of Manila
Done

Very simple!! I'll try! Thanks a lot!
Ok man, offcourse some other packages are depended too but this is a good start.
Run through all the Manila entries of the corresponding packages in the app.dat you create and don't forget to add them all.
After that you can cook and check how everything works.
Probably you need to update a lot more packages but that's a case of trial and effort.
Other packages you probably need are:
StartIconLoader
Settings_Improvement
Contact_Utility_Engine
HTCFramework
Menu_Enhancement
Well that's just quesing, you need to find out yourself.
Before you start make a backup of your kitchen and then start updating the packages step by step and test.
A reminder, all the packages you add extra in your kitchen in most cases also have initflashfiles.dat entries, don't forget to check that.
You can do the same with them by placing a app.dat file in the package or adding the line to initflashfiles.dat in your kitchen.

Anybody knows if latest Manila files are the same for all devices?
If aren't the same which would be the best choice to port it to X1?

[SOLVED] How do chefs change "Model No"?

[I asked this in the wrong forum previously -- sorry for the repeat topic]
I would like to understand where the Model No string comes from. This value is shown in device info and apparently checked by some software to determine if it's running on "known" or "supported" phones (e.g., Bing).
For example this is "T-Mobile_LEO" on a US HD2.
How does a chef influence this value, and more importantly, is it possible for me to change it without needing a new ROM image or having to reflash (e.g., via the registry, or updating a file, etc)?
Some pieces of software simply check model.txt (in the windows folder).
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Internet Explorer\User Agent]

is used for internet based stuff
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ActiveSync]
"DeviceModel"="XV6875"

can be used
Just do a search for the model number shown in device info in total commander (do a search in the registry section), and see what comes up.

User-Agent is possible, but I don't think he's referring to the others. He said "T-Mobile_LEO", but HTC won't show out code names in these places except User-Agent. Maybe the OP can specific this question?
On an HD2, Settings tab -> "About Phone" -> Phone Identity
Bing picks this up:
NOTE: the above is on a cooked ROM where the chef has gratuitously changed the Model No (on a stock ROM, it's something like T-Mobile_LEO). Unfortunately this causes Bing to think it's in beta mode because it doesn't recognize the phone it's running on. I want to know if I can change it back without reflashing.
Thanks for the tips, folks. Both registry settings mentioned above have "T-Mobile_LEO" in them.
However \windows\ModelName.txt contains the value the chef changed it to ("HTC HD2").
Is it possible for me to change ModelName.txt even though it's a ROM file?
Secondarily I'm also curious about how the registry values got initialized to T-Mobile_LEO -- where specifically did *that* string come from, given that ModelName.txt contains a different string?
I created a cab with the WM6.1 SDK and it worked. My phone identifies as a T-Mobile_LEO and Bing (after being uninstalled and reinstalled) stops identifying itself as beta.
Thanks for the tips folks.
Ok happy ending lets change the name as OP didnt do it

Yes, you can. Copy it out and edit it, then use 3rd-party file explorers such as Resco or Total Commander to overwrite the ROM file. The identity string is also a registry:
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Ident]
"Name"="T-Mobile_LEO"

May I know for my knowledge what does this [OP] indicate?
I have searched my kitchen endlessly for the T-Mobile_LEO string that shows up as per picture one in the earlier post, and cannot find it. The ModelName.txt file contains the correct text (as I have a Touch Pro 2).
The reg key that seems to set this is HKLM\system\platform\OEMString but I cannot find the source of this in the kitchen.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any further sugegstions? I am at a loss with this as to where this is being set. My best guess is Manila and that is why the search is not picking it up? I am no good with manila so am seeking guidance.
Cheers
It depends which kitchen or tools you are using.
In Oskitchen you can find it in 'NBH Structure.xml'
It contains the rom version and settings to create the nbh.
The kitchen uses nbImageTool.exe made by Da_G which reads this file to create the nbh.

Thank you for the reply.
The nbh structure.xml correctly identifies my device as a RHOD 300. The T-Mobile_LEO must be coming from somewhere else.
I use OsKItchen and the source dumped rom was from a Rhodium and so my OEM and device profile comes from that. The erroneous model no must be coming from an EXT package as far as I can see.
If you are looking for a package I would say Oemversion.

If you have swype, it would probably be coming from there.
Aaaahhhhh - now that would explain why I cannot find any reference to it in my kitchen. I could never get swype to work as an EXT package the way I wanted so it installs within XDA-UC.
Time to pull that cab apart I think.

If you do change the Model name, Swype probably won't work. It looks at the model name.

Thanks all for the help.
