[SOLVED] Missing Phone Settings? - Windows Mobile

Hi all,
It's just been pointed out to me by a user that the Phone Settings icon is missing from my Settings folder in the Start Menu, and pressing Menu>Options from the HTC dialer does nothing (the phone settings are completely missing). I'm cooking 23554 with Sense 2.5 (Rhodium 2.07) for the Blackstone, and I've included PhoneSetting 6_23_0_3 which looks to contain all the right band/pin etc pages. The only thing I can see in the app.reg which may be of use is:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\Extensions\Controls Folder\RemoveDefaultPropertySheet]
"Phone"=dword:4
But I have no idea if this value is right or wrong - I've made no edits to PhoneSettings from the original kitchen I downloaded so it ought to be right.
Anybody know why Phone Settings is missing for me?

you have to remove the redirect from reg, here is a pkg you can put in the kitchen that does it for you

Thanks Solved it by deleting the reg key: [HKLM\ControlPanel\Phone\Redirect] (which doesn't seem to be in the package you attached, but it pointed me in the right direction!)

can some oen share a working ext for cookie home tab 1.7
thansk in advance
edit: i attach the package i use now and some pics
Here use my packages , I didnt remove manillafull.xml when I cooked it in. I put CHTEditor in aswell, youir going to want to change its locations in the app.dat if you dont want it going to tools.
Also you want to add a reg tweak so CHT finds CHTEditor in the manila softkeys:
Code:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"CHTE.Path"="\\Program Files\\CHTEditor\\CHTEditor.exe"

Notes for ROM cooking:
Don't cook in the file "ManilaFull.xml". Originally it's a manila cache file that's generated on start up (based on the xml files in \windows\manilaxml\).
This file should never be cooked in because it will prevent changes to manila pages and menus.
The "ManilaFull.xml" in the cab is an empty file. It's only there to make manila regenerate it after install, because I've made changes to the home menu.
So make sure not to cook in that file in any form.

[SOLVED] Registry overwrite sequence in EVK

Hi,
I have a problem with setting certain settings when cooking. I simply modified the "c36eeaba-524c-471d-a185-22d12a8c294b.rgu" file in the OperatorPkg folder and changed settings such as notification light, camera superfine settings enabled as well as disabling the htc vibration and hiding some Manila tabs. For some odd reason not all the settings work? The camera settings won't work. The notification settings will only work for missed calls but not messages. The HTC Album setting to close instead of minimise won't work either. What am I doing wrong?
What is the order in which provxml, rgu and other customizations are loaded? It could be that I need to include the settings that are not working in the last rgu or provxml file to run.
Please help. Many thanks in advance
p.s. I checked the settings and they are all correct (no typos etc)
First RGU then app.reg then provxml...
So i guess that if you change the OEM RGU and you have a camera EXT the camera EXT app.reg will rewrite the RGU changes then sadly.. if you change the app.reg any missing and very good hidden provxml will rewrite your app.reg...
Addition process is... XIP - OEM - SYS - EXT every section is arranged alphabetical ascending.
Oh and next time search a lil many times this was discused on tutorials... of course you will not see a tutorial saying.... "order how PKGS are included" or "registry cooking addition"
Help, not sure what I am doing.
I am using kitchen_2.2 for the LG Incite.
I start with a clean kitchen.
I have put the 24001 rom in the base rom/incite directory.
run option:

a,b,c
get [Missing Manifests]

Then a bunch of moving messagers and finally:

Now, arrange the folders as needed and copy them into \OEM\INCITE and \SYS\YOURS
YSVERSION
Press any key to continue . . .
There is nothing under \OEM\INCITE and \SYS, so I copy temp\OEM and temp\sys to \
Now I run d, and get Now, arrange the folders as needed and copy OEMXIPKERNEL into \ROM\INCITE\YOURXIPVERSION and everything else in \ROM\SHARED\YOURXIPVERSION
Press any key to continue . . .
But I am not sure what to move. Under ROM i see a shared/21109 directory
I do not see OEMXIPKERNEL. I assume the Yourxipverson should be 24001.
If I continue with e (launch ErviusKitchen), change my device to incite, build 21000, rom version 2.0.00.00, sys build 0409, I see things set to ture and false.
If I select build I get errors. I tried copying dirs to different diretories, but just more errors.
All help apprciated.
Ask in the correct thread bud ¬¬
The tutorial EVK thread
I dont know so much about LG cooking you should ask in the thread for LG in the general forums
In shortly:
Export those keys from the RGU ( copy and paste ),make a txt file named app.reg and put inside the keys.
Go to EXT folder, make a subfolder named ZZ_what_name_you_like, inside this subfolder put the app.reg made before.
This way your setting will be the last to be copied from kitchen and nothing will be overwrite from other .reg, .rgu....but be sure that it will be the last to be cooked, thats why the ZZ or Z or ZZZZ before the name.
Next time make a lill search, this was already spoken many times.

[SOLVED] Display is missing from Settings -> System

Dear Members,
1. I have lost the icon to access display settings in my cooked roms. Meaning i cannot access the screen alignment or clear type settings. I have tried adding reg below as well:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\Settings\System\cplmain.cpl,7]
"Icon"="\\Windows\\Start_Icon_Screen.png"
Click to collapse
I cant access clear type settings from manila as well.
2. My HTC Recorder fails to appear in my start menu as well. I have set it to appear under "Multimedia" folder in app.dat. I have checked spelling and the lnk is present in the files folder.
In effort to solve this prob, i have checked initflashfiles.dat and searched all provxml files to see if something is deleting it (used ervius kitchen editor function to search for "Recorder" string under all files and appears to be ok)
Also, i have tried 2 different builds of SYS - both boots up properly but with same problem. Please advice what i could be doing wrong.
Thanks in advance.
Details:
Base: TMOUS 2.13
SYS: 21903 / 21892
SOLUTION - Refer to post 3 by Braakie
nothing seems to be wrong... can you please post what are you using to change the registries.. i guess if you are not using UIA icons you will have some troubles.

1) In your \OEM\LEO\COMMON\OEMDrivers folder, there is a 21b6ed86-a505-4ad7-a4aa-b8bb93c926d9.rgu file with this registery entry, change it from 1 to 0:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Pen]

2) For the HTC Recorder, change your pad in the \OEM\LEO\0409\OEM_Lang_0409 initflashfiles.dat file, search for "VoiceRecorder", and change Tools to Multimedia:
Directory("\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Multimedia"):-File("Voice Recorder.lnk","\Windows\Recorder.lnk")

details
Thanks guys,
Will recheck the paths and spellings. I have removed all entries in initflashfiles.dat all except the non HTC stuffs and placed it under its respective app.dat in ext folder. Im customizing the location and icon pictures of basic wm stuffs (ie: home, search phone, help, games etc.) using provxmls.
What i have done so far:
1. Copied all these provxmls below to a "zzz_newXML" ext package and edited to new path i want.
mxip_MyPhone_100.provxml
mxipcold_marketplace_100.provxml
mxipupdate_office_100.provxml
mxipupdate_onenote_100.provxml
mxipupdate_projectdefault_a_000.provxml
mxipupdate_RemoteDesktopMobile.provxml
mxipupdate_taskmgr_shell_1.provxml
mxipupdate_welcomecenter_1.provxml
mxipupdate_windowslive_1.provxml
mxipupdate_windowsliveim_1.provxml
Click to collapse
2. So the original is left untouched in SYS/OEM folder. Provxmls which assigns/resorts icons have been blanked out and placed in "zzz_newXML" files folder to overwrite the default paths so that i can fully control all icons using single provxml.
3. I am using mxipinit_startmenu_001.provxml in XDA\EVK\OEM\LEO\0409\ProjectDefault_A to do start menu rearrangement. All Ext package icons customizations in placed in its respective folders.
My reason for choosing this method is so that i dont have to go to initflashfiles.dat or provxmls in new SYS package whenever i update system builds or add/remove ext package.
I have attached mxipinit_startmenu_001.provxml (from item 3 above) and my initflashfiles.dat if you guys need more details. Please advice if there are any other better/easier way of doing this customization.
Thanks in advance and sorry for the late reply!

Thanks Braakie! Finally found time to rebuild rom with the reg key and that did bring back Screen option in settings. I still couldnt get the recorder right, maybe something wrong with the ext package itself.
I think we can change it to solved now as my main concern was with screen settings.

[SOLVED] Cooking with cht 1.8.5

Hi all. New to cooking roms. But having fun trying and making decent progress but can figure out how to get cht to work im using osKitchen zero with stock sprint rom as base. Converted cab to ext (even tried oem to ext to see if something screwed up). Anywho everything looks good but looks like the manila files arent getting written in rom. Cht editer works fine. Cookies home tab entries are in registry. Tried prioritizing (spelling?) all other manila folders in case the were overwriting CHT files but didnt make a difference.
Anyone know what im missing here? Any help will be appreciated.
Any particular reg entry or something in app.dat that should be added? Dont install Manila_Home? Prioritize a particular package?
I havent got a clue. Been trying for three days. Im sure its something easy but havent found anything useful searching various WM cooking sites. Tried older CHT packages people posted that said they worked just by adding them to kitchen but they didnt work for me.
Please help!
If you are trying to get CHT editor working in the menu (main home screen) go into your CHT folder and look at the app.reg file. You may see the following entry:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\CHTEditor.lnk]
"Icon"="\\\\Program Files\\CHTEditor\\icon.png"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"CHTE.Path"="\\\\Program Files\\CHTEditor\\CHTEditor.exe"
Change to this:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Security\Shell\StartInfo\Start\CHTEditor.lnk]
"Icon"="\\Program Files\\CHTEditor\\icon.png"
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila]
"CHTE.Path"="\\Program Files\\CHTEditor\\CHTEditor.exe"
I had a similar problem when I was trying to cook in cht editor!
If CHt 1.85 wasnt installed in your rom then Cheditor shouldnt work.
When you install CHT 1.85 without any modifications the Home Manila has the same look as the stock one.
You need to use CHTEditor for modding your manila Home page and the export all the reg keys created.

im pretty sure i removed the extra slashes for registry. that was the first thing i noticed.
Cht editer isnt in soft key menu but it works from srart menu. if i make any changes sense fails to load though.
Ok. Im not trying to type this on my phone so maybe I can better explain.
Using osKitchen Zero.
Load stock Sprint TP2 rom (WM 6.5) into kitchen.
Converted CHT and Editer to EXT packages.
Imported those into kitchen.
Added them to rom.
Registry entry is correct for Editer (no extra slashes).
I make no other changes within the kitchen.
Build rom.
Load rom.
End result:
Editer isnt in right soft key menu it is only in start menu. Editer opens and I can make changes. When I apply, manila tries to restart but never loads.
Uploaded packages if anyone would like to see if things are correct.
Not sure if it matters, but I do not copy CHTEditor into its own directory via app.dat.
But your package does contain ManilaFull.xml, which it shouldn't.
Check CoOkies thread, he does explain there why.

With or without ManilaFull it still doesnt work.
I dont think cookies is getting cooked correctly. There must be something else i must do.
Fixing to just give up on this. Nothing seems to work.
Your packages seems to be right though they are same as mine.
Its a priority problem imo, CHTEditor must be cooked after CHT 1.85.
2 Solutions :
1st Insert a numer before the package name Example 01_Co0kie 02_ChtEditor
2nd In Oskitchen right click on ChTEditor ,proprieties and give it priority to Co0kiee.
I dunno if this is of some interest but i cook also CHT Editor language pack in my rom.
I tried that and it still wasnt working. Some other package/s were overwriting the files.
I wasnt aware of the packages cooking by folder name so I just made it so CHT and Editer were the last thing to cook in rom and everything works now.
Thanks for the help though. I learned something valuable if nothing else.
Nice...probably you was cooking Manila files after CHT.

Customizing start menu items

Guys,
Some tips regarding customizing start menu items are solved in this thread. Here you can find the links to them.
Great tutorials pointed by AndrewSH:
Made by bikeandestroyx for a Rom cooking newbies in customizing the start menu items:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664109;
Also for persons who can read in russian:

Also you can check alternative raving_nanza way - put all icons into one DLL.

The problem in changing bluetooth icon when the link to it is moved from settings to connection menu is solved by AndrewSH :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14769622&postcount=32
Thanks everybody in helping hand!
Skyguar, if you're going to customize the ready rom - you should also modify HKLM/Security/Shell/StartInfo/Start to define the new folders and items of your future StartMenu. All shortcuts made by cplmain.cpl and other cpls should be redefined to MyCpl.cpl to enable custom position (like for example moving Bluetooth to Connections instead of Settings)....
But you should remember that any hardreset will destroy your customization - so better save your registry edits and custom png files into one cab.
If you're going to cook the new rom with your own custom StartMenu order - the story is a bit more sophisticated.
But normally - you should read this before ...

I'm busy now to write detailed howto, but hopefully you still able to read in Russian - it's not so far from my land to your - only 170 km between our cities
So read here and further on in the topic - maybe this helps

Yeah, that's fine , this is what I needed but I couldn't find. Thank you very much!
you could just create a .dll with your icons inside and then link your custom .lnk with the icon inside the .dll?
*if you want me to teach you how, just private message me, ill teach you how to do it this way.
eg inside the .lnk would be this:
#\windows\XXXX.exe ?\windows\XXXX.dll,-X
(-X is the number position of the icon inside the .dll)
or
change the icon inside the XXXX.exe (some .exe do not like their icons being changed, eg they stop working )
tbh it is a lot better than the way your trying to do it, it is a lot more "cleaner" to do it this way, you do not need to add registrys or clog up the windows folder with image after image when you can have one single .dll
thanks

what do you meen = hide Settings icon, which point to manila settings menu..?
*if you go to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\" you should see the one for manila settings.
*it might be listed under "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\mycpl"
*if it is it will be listed as a number, for example "\mycpl\000"
*search all the strings inside and one should launch the manila settings
when you find it just add
"hide"=dword:00000001
and it should dissapear
