i have a friend who has the nokia 97 and he showed me an app where he can use the phone as an FM transmitter, kind of like an ipod. Is it possible for the TP2 to do that? im thinking not because he antenna for the radio is in the headphones and not the phone itself like the nokia, but could we develop an app that can make the TP2 have an FM transmitter with the headphones plugged in to access radio?
I think it could make for a great and useful app.

The hardware needed to make it an Fm transmitter is not in the Tp2 and so this is not possible. Ive seen plug in devices that transmit whatever comes out of the headphone socket so this would be your only option i think.
i already use such a transmitter for my TP2.
but it isn't useful.
the transmitter need his own power supply and the TP2 will not be charge while the transmitter is pluged in....
Mic is crap, for talking inside the car very bad.

Im using the exact same thing for my car
Good enough for listening to music on my phone...maybe that's all you want
try a bluetooth a2Dp carkit fm transmitter... wow thats a mouthfull..
Anyway.. search for one of those on ebay. I've used them for years. The unit itself plugs in directly to a power outlet in your car. You use the bluetooth on your phone to transmit stereo audio to the unit which in turn broadcasts the audio to the car stereo. I like this cause.... well no wires. The units also have a "carkit" function so when a call comes in it routes the audio over the stereo too and uses a mic built in that you speak through. Pretty clear I have to say.
They range anywhere from 15 dollars to 60 dollars on ebay. I went with a lower end one and once this breaks (though I've had it for about 3 or so years now) I'll be going with a more expensive one. I've found, at least with the one I have, that when there is no audio actually being transmitted to the device the sound that is played through the stereo in the car is similar to that of an old fax machine, all be it a lot less annoying and loud. When I first started using it I used to just run a loop of white noise from my phone in windows media player and then use the built in audio player in manilla to play actual music... also really handy when driving and using tomtom or something on the phone. ALSO really handy when listening to pandora or slacker radio
Long story short.. look up A2Dp fm transmitter and you guys will be set!
For just listening to music in the car nothing beats the direct wire connection of a 3.5 mm connection, IMHO. But, if you would like a full featured alternative I'd go with an Alpine X10. It has BT for streaming music and phone calls. Also has a direct Ipod connection, which is it's main use.

I've bought several FM Transmitters, not for my Tilt2 but for different cars without AUX input....do yourselves a favor and just get 3.5MM Stereo AUX Inputs if that is the sole purpose of your phone is to listen to music in your cars.... You can get a new radio with aux as cheap as $100-150 installed...
I sold all the FM transmitters i've bought, the only nice ones cost just as much as a radio installed, and you're not getting full sound quality, plus driving out of town sucks when you hit the biggest radio station of that town, just so happens to be the frequency you selected.
If it's for another purpose, my apologies..
p.s., you can mod them up to sound better on some, you can add antenna (just buy small gauge wire or an actual antenna) - search for your unit to see if it can be modded to cover more range.. I ran 12 feet of wiring all around my Honda Civic when I was in the FM Transmitter phase..

Picked up a Motorola BT 820 last week (CompUSA had them for $79.99; Expansys now has them for $78). It works really well with my SX66 (BlueAngel), still running PPC2003.
It supports A2DP, handsfree, and AVRCP profiles; the SX66 doesn't support AVRCP, unfortunately, so the Moto's media control buttons don't work. As a handsfree phone headset, it works at least as well as the Bluespoon AX2 -- the Moto has none of the speaker/mic crosstalk that cheaper BT headphones (Zonet ZUB8100) have and the mic (built into the right speaker housing) has good pickup and selectivity.
In A2DP mode, there's no static (at least close to the SX66; I haven't done any distance tests yet). Haven't tested switching from A2DP to handsfree (i.e. answering the phone when listening to music), or use with Voice Command -- that'll come later when I get some free time.
The only problem I've seen with the BT 820 is that it sometimes takes 2 or 3 tries to get the SX66 to connect to it, especially in A2DP mode.
have the same headphones with k-jam, the avrcp works as well as a2dp,
also can dial and answer calls handsfree, the music stops and then re-starts after the call.

For us noobs to rom U/Gs, (and assuming that you have an O2 Mini-S), what changes can we expect from this rom to the standard O2 UI, do we have to re-configure GPRS for example.
a2dp is one of the most irritating missing components from WM5 so this will be a great U/G if it works.

Well I got the Hama lead BUT any slight knock and the damn thing starts to come out with the result in a loss of one channel. (just putting my phone in my pocket causes the plug to come loose??)
Now as I've got a pair of Logitech MP3 bluetooth stereo headphones I'll give the ROM update a go to see if the A2DP bluetooth works or not??
A couple of questions though..
Is there a decent set of bluetooth stereo headphones out there, that ALSO have a mic for hands free?? and
I assume updating the ROM will not effect the contents of the extended ROM?? (well it didn't last time)

i tried the bluetake range, but in the end have the motorola ht820 which are very nice and not as expensive as some of the others.
watch out that some say handsfree but you have to make the call using the pda, (you can answer/hangup from the headset) whereas the ht820 can use voice dial.
the upgrade of the rom will effect the extended rom if you are installing a complete new rom set.
there have been downloads with a selected rom only, and then nothing else is effected.
but full upgrade will lose everything you have.

am now running the english rom with a2dp and it works fine so far,
and for waiho, i have myself the motorola ht820 head set, which after trying others i felt was the best choice.
there are some that are smaller, but either have a detachable mic, or one set could not be used for voice dial! you could hangup/answer from the headset, but had to dail from the pda.
defeats the object for me.
i travel to work on the london underground, and it is great when you are squashed like a sardine in a can to be able to adjust volume, next/previus track just by touching my ear (well almost) :lol:

Just got the the Motorola T 605 Automotive Music and Hands-free System installed into my car. Works great with the Kaiser (I have the TILT) for both Hands-free and Wireless Stereo BT profiles. When connected with a vehicle specific adapter harness, the stereo is automatically muted for incoming calls, and conversation is played from front speakers only. A long press on the talk button even launches Cyberon Voice Speed Dial (which is provided with the TILT). When using Wireless Stereo and WMP, all skip/ forward/ back/ pause/ play functions work flawlessly. Provided BT is enabled on the kaiser before the ignition is turned on, the connection for both profiles is automatic. Very nice adition for those of us who own a car that did not come with factory BT.

My T605 is discovered and works flawlessly with my SonyEricsson K800i phone (both for call and streaming music) as well as my old HP IPAQ 5555 (obviously, only for music with this one).
On the other hand, my Kaiser works flawlessly with both Plantronics 590A and Jabra BT8010 in both modes.
So, what could be wrong? I have the latest Shap's ROM (4.31) on my Kaiser, didn't try it with the stock one.
Any help is much appreciated!

That's a tough one. Mine connected first time to both BT profiles with the 605. I do recall a limitation on the 605 regarding how many partnerships the T605 supports. Although it's a pain, I'd suggest clearing all partnerships from the T605, and the Kaiser, and then try and connect again. I'm using a TILT, but had no issues with either ROM in my sig.

I think 605 requires professional install, but 505 doesn't
So I'm going to help my buddy install the T605 into his saturn Ion (04). The demo on the motorola website says you can buy a harness to make the phone call go through the oem speakers and not have to use the 5W powered speaker. Is this harness necessary or will this happen for you when you follow the install instruction?
Also, If this is not controlled by the aux port on the HU how will the music (A2DP) play through the system? There must be relays in the HF unit to do this? Or will I need to go through the aux port on the HU?
I have the IHF1000 in my car and that was a very easy install......Other than tapping into the OEM wires this should be pretty cut and dry? As long as you know what OEM wires to use?
Motorola has been completely useless as far as tech support goes.
For Motorola T605 and IHF1000 vehicle-specific adapter harnesses, try the selection from www.peripheralelectronics.com (their CelFi harnesses), or the drive&talk harnesses at www.nicestuffonline.com . A solution should be there somwhere between them for the ION.
As for the integration, connect the RCA L/R output from the T605 to an available MP3 or aux. input, or find an aux. input adapter for your vehicle (examples are from Blitzsafe, Periperhal Electronic's Aux2Car and others). If there is no specific adapter available for your vehicle, you could always use Scosche's FM-MOD01 FM modulator to bring the audio in DIRECTLY through the FM antenna port (vehicle-specific antenna adapters may be required). The in-line modulator works without static, unlike that of many FM broadcast/transmitter solutions.

As mentioned above, the easiest thing to do is start by sourcing the vehicle specific adapter from one of those companies in the previous post and go from there. I did that, and installed the t605 in my car in NO time. You just plug the adapter into the back of your stereo, plug the harness from the t605 to that, and then run the lines out for the mic and for the controls, then run RCA from the t605 to your AUX connection (either 3rd party aux interface or factory opening if you have it). It's freaking great. You're done in NO time. The handsfree is GREAT, and even better is that you can stream whatever you want from your phone... I'll take shoutcast and internet radio over paying for XM/Sirius any day of the week.

It will work, but I think it's a bit overkill if you're looking to go that simple. If you're not hung up on BT why not just buy a basic AUX interface for your car with a 3.5mm jack on it, then grab the adapter to plug it into the bottom to the tilt? It's not as "cool" or "elegant" but heck, if you jsut want to play audio but don't want to stream it why make things hard?
Final question. How is the sound quality coming through the speakers and how is the reception on the other end? Can they hear you fine?

For audio or phone calls?
It's great for audio.
Phone calls are good. Nobody every says they can't hear me, but sometimes if I'm at WOT or have the windows down I can't hear them because the volume output is a tad low. I have a loud car though, so that's more my fault than motorolas.

Hi...I have a 2007 Mazda6 with the factory Bose stereo system. I am looking for a 3rd party wiring harness so I can connect the Motorola T605 to the stereo. I have looked at the places mentioned in previous posts to find the harness, but have not been successful...this may be because I am not sure what I am looking for. Here's the deal...I bought a car mount when I bought my XV6800, so I can use it in the car with GPS, however, the audio also come sout of the GPS port, so if I want to listen to music thru my car stero (that has an aux input), I have to use this adapter - LINK...
...of course, then I cannot be charging it while using that adaptor, plus the PDA cannot mount with the audio cable coming out the bottom. so, that is my problem...
Is there a car mount that has a USB extension maybe so that I can have it mounted and charging with ALSO able to run my audio to the aux heaphone (1/8th inch) jack?.

Here is what I concocted that works well for me and I spent very little. Some of you may already have most of this.
Features: Charging station, hands-free, mp3 and call output to car stereo, very convenient position for thumb use in portrait or typing in landscape while driving (watch out), horizontal circumferential adjustment as well as vertical adjustment for bad lighting (good for passenger to watch alone).
Drawbacks: phone's mic doesn't work with 3in1 connected; you need to use headset mic (but could be spliced, extended and mounted in side column in car panel), wires can be cumbersome, extends a bit of tension on some connections if you change plugs alot.
I purchased six things:
1. ($15) HTC 3in1 11pin to 10 pin charger/11 pin headset/3.5mm adapter... which you can buy here:

6. ($3) Vent mounted cup holder from Autozone. Mine is mesh and a little better than others I have seen, but nothing elegant by far.
Total of $45 total and you can use much of these things for many other things, especially the retractable and the headset.
Take the cupholder and put it in the vent nearest your right side of the steering wheel. Clip on the back of the Titan hard case with the belt clip on the side of the cupholder. Your phone will be snug to fit so you may want to sand down some of the little tips but only a hair so you can slide the phone out but not so much it falls out.
The retractable usbmini goes to cigarette lighter, 3.5 mm goes out to the monster tape, and the headset goes in the 10 pin spot on the 3in1. All of that plugs into the Titan. Then put the phone in the cradle and it can swivel 90 degrees either way and stay in that position. You can swivel around the circumference of the cup holder, tilt it up and down with the prop style adjuster, and best of all you can rock it 90 degrees and open it up to type in landscape while still connected to the tether. I speak into the headset mic and voila. You could splice the mic wire and run it through your car colums and set it in the post to the left of the driver pretty easily but this is no high end fix like the Seido.
I will post some better pictures when I have access to a camera tomorrow, this was taken on the Titan.

BTW - when you're able to get a mint condition 6800 for $80 shipped, it doesn't come with anything, lol.
I have had them both. If you want to use bluetooth at all, either for a2dp or earbud, you have to use the 4300x. Since the 4700x has audio out, the phone detects it as if a wired headset is connected, and disables bluetooth. If I understand correctly, the 4300x lacks the circuitry for audio out, so the phone just thinks it has a charger attached, and bluetooth works fine. I use the 4300 with a dual xhd6425 bt enabled car stereo. Sounds pretty good, although there are some reg tweaks you need to do. My 4700 is at seidio now being repaired because it wouldn't output in stereo for some reason. When I get it back, it will go on ebay. Why did I have two in the first place? Long story, mostly involving learning the hard way about the bluetooth issue. PLus the 4700 was part of a package of things I bought from somebody who got rid of their mogul.
This is my third seidio mount (6600, 6700, 6800), I have been very happy with them. Support has been great. They are pricy, but anything else involves cables laying all over the car, and you can always recover most of the cost on ebay if you are a frequent phone upgrader.
I will comment on the cassette adapter, which I used up until the bluetooth setup. I had it attached to a GM factory stereo, and never sounded all that great, plus I always had to crank the volume down one notch on the phone (all 3 of them), or I got horrible static. A2dp is not perfect, there is still a bit of background noise, but it is definitely crisper than the cassette adapter ever was. A lot of variables there though, maybe my stereo just sucked.
i have an AUX input (1/8th inch jack) on the front of my car CD player. I wasnt going to use it for music from my 6800 since my car CD player already can play MP#/WMA CDs, so I was just going to use it for tomtom volume, system volume, etc...

I have to second the issue on having to crank the volume when hooked to stero with aux jack...basically have to max out the volume on deck to get it cranking...but didnt really hear a quality difference...audiopara helped a little with the sound level though

Nice.
My goal is to record some audio somehow on to the unit.
I am a DJ and sometimes would like some "basic" mono recording directly from my mixer.
If this is doable with this phone and adapter I'd be so happy LOL

This adapter has a pinout problem which causes problems with audio out.

I have the 4-in-1 adapter. Works good. No problems. Syncs, charge all at the same time.
You willl be surprised with the size of this thing. Initially looking at pics I thought it's fairly large and big but it's really small.
Not to mention that you can also use the 3.5mm jack for TVout, but the titan doesn't support that.
Is there any way to just RECORD AUDIO from a source in to this unit?
I have always wanted to figure it out. With all the recording software for these phones, I got to be able to find SOMETHING that will allow me to record from an audio source.

I have both the adapter you're asking about and one like the other pictured in this thread. I had to perform the same *fix* with both of them of bending the top right pin (if you have the notched side also on the top right) down in order to get them to work. Once I did that, it works great. I can charge and listen to music on my headphones. I have not used it with any kind of headset that has a mic in it for phone calls or with the connection for the mini-usb style headset. The 3.5mm jack works and the usb/charger port works for sure on mine though.
anybody have the one in the first post with a Ryan Mogul ROM?
I had a stock ROM and my USBmini thing to 3.5" worked great.
Moved to a DCD ROM and I had to do the pin out thing to get it too work.
Now with Ryan's ROM's it doesn't switch to audio out, just stays with the internal speaker. Any idea?

Yea, I'm using Ryan Moguls verizon 2.2 heavy I believe. I had to change the pin when I had the MR1 update, but both adapters still work now. If I plug the 4-in-1 into my phone the internal speaker keeps playing, but once I plug my headphones into the adapter, the sound switches to my headphones. Can't speak for everyone else's, but it works on mine.

Mono recording is fine, I don't need Stereo at all.

I agree with the last word. I bought this same adapter thinking it would work because it was advertised it would work.
i have this OEM product from HTC 4 in 1 adapter . it works ok except it doesn't support out-line mic ....when talking on the phone, you could hear them they can't hear you.
I noticed that when I'm connected to the cars bluetooth I can hear audio from my phone... Sadly the quality is terrible...

the aux cable is proving to be a hassle.

that must be your car that is crappy, because i stream BT audio from the phone to the car every time i drive, as it is easier to update my phone with the latest music i want to hear.
quality is perfect, car deck is a CZ509 10" sub, and yes the sound comes out loud and clear on all 6 speakers including the most beloved bass and sub boom bomm boom

there are many apps for that, the build in one is vlingo (in samsung apps), and you can install

and yes loud clear music is great... nothing less than 192 for sure... the 8' stock harman kardon sub is ok... but i wish i had a 10 or 12 in there.

ignore the apps mentioned above, those are only for voice commands, and voice features.
back to the Audio Quality part of the conversation, check to see what features does your in car bluetooth supports, and see if it's BT 2.0 or something else
see if it supports the AVRP features, and A2DP
try different music, some music plays and sound better than others
the phone comes with BT 3.0 and it's compatible with older BT 2.0 and 1.0
you should get good audio quality if all things are paired up properly with the better BT compatibility.
check what other audio features does the car support in regards to mp3, enable those as well
stream play high quality mp3 on the phone to the car at least 160 and up
128 some times have hisses
the source of the mp3 must be pure like from CD, DVD or BD
cheaply recorded or ripped audio from radio, or internet streams sounds horrible in the car
I have a Parrot MKi9000 installed in my 2008 Passat (standard Highline Gala sound system & speakers) and the music streams beautifully over Bluetooth from the SGS. It's not an audiophile's dream, but the convenience beats everything. I'm more than satisfied with the quality.
Bluetooth audio works great in my Mondeo, superb call quality. However, it only works for voice, not music. Shame...
Beginning with Froyo, there is a new method startBluetoothSco (), which can be used to send and received audio to/from a bluetooth SCO headset while the phone is not in call. Of course, it's only for mono low quality sounds (16kHz or 8kHz) but it should allow user interaction via the car kit (reading sms, guidance or voice command, for example).
If your bluetooth car kit allows A2DP, the quality can be better, but you should not have problem to output sounds on the car audio

I think you are missing the point, the suggestion is well taken for whom ever though of using a mono headset to fake a stereo BT stream
but you do know we are talking about Streaming BT Stereo to a CAR audio system
streaming MONO will defeat the whole purpose of Streaming STEREO to the car audio system
right?
