AIM Custom Notification Sound Tutorial - XPERIA X1 General

Originally, I needed assistance to get this working. But I randomly experimented and happen to learn during the process.
This tutorial is for Xperia users using AIM Mobile for Windows Mobile who want custom sounds for sound notifications etc.
TUTORIAL:
1. Using Total Commander, locate 'default.WAV' in 'My Device/Windows'
2. Copy it elsewhere, i.e. you storage device. This is just to make a back-up (Just to be on the safe side)
3. Have a custom sound you would want to replace that for AIM notification in '.WAV' format and if possible, a size below 700kbps (perhaps?)
4. Rename your custom sound to 'default.WAV'
5. In Total Commander, locate your custom sound, copy or move it to 'My Device/Windows'
6. When asked to overwrite file, confirm to do so.

ADB help

Hello,
Start off by apologizing if this is somewhere and I missed it, I have searched and searched.
I was able to flash a new bootscreen the otherday no problem. I have found another that I would like to push to my phone, but when I attempt it I get the ADB error that my device is full....
I followed a "delete bootanimation.zip" process and get an error that no file(extension) exists.
I looked at the dir and see that it(/system/media) is 94% taken, which would explain why I get the error message.
I am looking for a way to free up/delete/erase the /system/media/audio/ringtones since I don't use them at all and that is a big chunk, 47 files.
Is there a way to do so or to move em atleast so I can free up that space.
When trying to do it with my file explorer I get the error that I don't have permission....lol
Please help I wants to put new stuffs on mah phone!
Thanks in advance!

Thanks alot for the info. Worked like a charm.
You wouldn't by chance know how to remove the "office phone" sound when I boot up would you. In CM5.0.8 and when ever I shut down or restart I get that ringing sound, I'd like to replace it. Any ideas?

Bootup/down tone
____________________________________________________________________
After some research and a good recommendation from Firerat @Cyanogenmod forums, I was able to do it. The ring I was hearing was a SD card notification. Turns out if you really want to you can put whatever sound, song, byte, etc. you want in there you just have to do a little converting.
This is how I did it.
1. Downloaded this: FlicFlac
2. Install, like 5 secs
3. Open FlicFlac, select convert to OGG
4. click on the big box that says select file
5. Pick ur MP3 or whatever audio file it is, and...BAM! u have conversion
Now I used Android Commander to place the file in the directory, /system/media/audio/notifications
You can prolly ADB push that as well.
Reboot and there you have it. New "boot sound" lol. (of course you need to go into notification sounds ((Settings > Sound & Display > Notification Ringtone)) and select your newly created .ogg file for it to work)
Hope you like.

[GUIDE 4 NOOBS] Add desired ringtones, notifications, apps, bootanimations

Hello there. This guide is very basic and looks at how you can add ringtones, notifications, applications, alarms, bootanimations and other MISC in to a ROM before you flash the ROM
Step 1. Download your chosen ROM to your computer
Step 2. Have all of the desired files you would like to add ready to go If you want to make your own ringtones, alarms, notifications by cutting down songs that are mp3 files I have attached a small and safe program I am using.
Make sure your desired bootanimation is named "bootanimation"
Step 3. Download 7 zip http://www.7-zip.org/
(Used to open the ROM zip without extracting it) ***DO NOT EXTRACT ANY ROM***
Step 4. Use 7zip to OPEN the desired ROM zip
Once inside you can literally drag and drop files into the zip, Navigate to the following areas.
For Apps: system>app
For Bootanimation: system>media
For Ringtones: system>media>audio>ringtones
For Notifications: system>media>audio>notifications
For Alarms: system>media>audio>alarms
If you look around you might notice some other familiar folders such as fonts. Feel free to investigate further AT YOUR OWN RISK
*NOTE* I have been using this method for a long time but since Gingerbread all of my tones have been saving directly to my internal sd card after I use this method once.
For example if you were to flash your desired ROM with your desired tones they will be placed into folders on your internal sd card. folders are: notifications, ringtones, alarms
After this point you can simply drag and drop the tones to these folders. After a reboot they will show up to be selected as tones.
Before every ROM you flash after this you should go inside the allocated folders and delete all of the tones you already have or do not want. If you don't then you might end up with multiple files
Not all apps will install from the apps folder .
No idea why but normal for me is on last two custom roms only one out of the ten i added to app folder actually installs .
Data folder all will install but i have yet to work out the script for it on SGS2 .

You might be trying to put a system file in the wrong area. I haven't had such an issue before. Moving files to system/app OR data/app should have the same effect unless it is a system file.
system apps are not supposed to be placed in data/app so I always just advise to put everything in system/app as it does no harm and it works for all apk files
System/app
APNoff installs .
AppBrain market app fails GPS test fails etc etc .
To a rom i normally add ringtones Power on sound Boot animation wallpaper home made CSC and gps.conf

[Q] question on a rom....

I'd post it in the rom's thread, but with less than 10 post...
i've got an issue on the rom liberty3 v2.0 (link at bottom). Under every app where i need to choose a sound (handscents, stock messaging, even under the sound settings page) when i choose to customize the sound, the usual pop-up shows my folder choices to get audio from. problem is, my "complete action using" folders are the "android system" and "handcent sms." there's no music file, no ringtones, alarms file, hell, not even a root explorer option. this one has me baffled. any help?
any help would be greatly appreciated.

Try getting rom toolbox if you can. You can move the tones to a folder accesible by another app if you can get to one. Or maybe it wil let you use rom tool box to complete the action. I love this app, its so handy!
Can you simply download a file explorer and have that option pop up?
not quite...
i appreciate the input, but i already had root explorer installed, as well as downloading the legacy rom toolbox. the problem was there regardless. it's not showing the other usual options, such as root explorer, music, etc. wondering if a reinstall is in order. the rom works flawless other than this.
yup, that did it
i reinstalled the rom and instead of downloading all previous apps via my titanium backup on file, i did them individually and for whatever reason, the matrix was ok with this. the file options are there along with each of the actual files being present. other than that, this is the best rom i've used so far.

Notification sound in default calendar problem

Hello,
System: 4.4.2, root, Samsung Note 3
Problem: Default Calendar App notification sounds is too soft.
I searched 4 forums and tens of posts but I could not find an answer that solved my problem, for one reason or another.
I downloaded a good mp3 continuous and loud "beep beep" sound into #/system/media/audio/notifications but I cannot see it under any one of the 3 notification sounds lists that I can access from Calendar App > Settings > Select Ring Tone.
In that menu I see 3 lists:
- Go SMS Pro,
- Zedge,
- Media Storage
Sounds from the first 2 cannot be applied and whatever I select from those 2 lists will revert to the default "On Time" sound from the 3rd list. In the 3rd list I cannot see the custom "Beep Beep" mp3.
I need a really loud and repetitive sound to remind me of events. Please help me! I thank in advance for sharing your time and expertise.

Thanks for trying to help me but I already have a file manager (fx file manager with root access and read/write permissions) and that's how I managed to move my custom tone into the #/system/media/audio/notifications folder.
But, maybe, fx is not a good file manager and I need to install and use ES? Or am I missing something? Wrong folder? Something else?
Please help.

While using ES, you can select tone from any folder.
I directly choose from my Downloads folder

Rename the "Beep beep" sound to "On time" (or whatever the original name is), replace the original one, set the right permissions, reboot.

Sorry, but I do not understand what you are suggesting because I wrote that I already can do that so I don't get what you are suggesting. Apologies for asking but, please, can you be more clear?
I already CAN choose tones from any folders with fx. My problem is not moving tones into folders but:
a) to which directory should I move the tones to???
b) at the moment I only know of this:
#/system/media/audio/notifications folder.
c) I have already moved the custom tone in this folder - as I wrote in the OP - but I cannot see it from my Apk settings menu.
Anyway, since you insist with ES, I decided to install ES. Then I did EXACTLY the same thing that I already did with fx: I moved my custom tone in the:
#/system/media/audio/notifications folder
Since there was already one copy of that custom tone I made a second copy.
... but I still cannot see the tone from my Apk settings menu!
Can you please guide me step by step as I cannot understand your help.

[GUIDE] To change the Truecaller dialer to stock Android dialer in 5.1.1 on Yureka

One of the main drawbacks of 5.1.1 update on Yureka was that the stock dialer had been replaced by Truecaller dialer. I, for one, liked the original dialer a lot. It had dynamic speed dial tiles which changed according to how much you called, which is probably one of the best features. Also, there's privacy issues associated with Truecaller dialer, if you're into that sort of thing.
To change the dialer, we'll simply replace the phone UI components with blisspop components. Blisspop has stock Android dialer.
Also, this is my first guide, so if mods think this is not in appropriate section, please move it to proper section.
Prerequisites:
1. You should have Yureka [duh]. I don't know if this works on Yureka+. Maybe someone can test & tell me so that I can update this guide.
2. You should have write access to the root partition of your phone.
What is root partition you ask? Yureka has Internal memory [Sdcard0], External memory card [Sdcard1] & a third partition, root partition[/].
You can access this partition using any reputed file manager such as ES file Explorer, Solid Explorer, Root Explorer etc.
However ES, Solid etc. had problem writing files in my phone. I therefore went with Root Explorer which works flawlessly.
From hereon, I'll consider you are using Root Explorer. However using any other file manger will be similar.
The only caveat in using Root Explorer is that writing permission requires root access.
Steps:
1. Open Root Explorer. Tap "Mount R/W". Grant it the superuser permission when it asks. This puts the Root explorer in Write mode for root partition & we can now write or over-write files which we want.
2. Download the zip file from here & extract it somewhere on you phone.
3. In root partition [the one with symbol "/"], go to system-->app and replace or overwrite the InCallUINext folder with the folder which you have downloaded from the zip file. Make sure you have backed up the original folder which was previously present i.e copy it somewhere on phone memory just in case.
4. Then go to system-->priv-app and replace or overwrite the DialerNext folder with the folder from the zip. Again make sure you've backed it up.
5. That's it. Reboot the phone & you have the stock dialer.
Credits to @Sundara Prakash & also to @Vams for prodding me in the right direction.
Hit Thanks if you think this helped!
