Provide Default Keyboard - Click General

Hello guys
I have a HTC Tattoo, Can somebody provide me a link where i can download this...?:
1) HTC_IME.apk
2) Clicker.apk
Thank you

Isn't this just the default keyboard that is already installed on the HTC Tattoo?
You may see other people asking for it because they want to use it on a another brand of phone (ie not HTC).
(That was my belief anyway)

Look why I'm asking:

Ah, okay. So you've overwritten the original Tattoo with one designed for a larger screen? And, it obviously doesn't resize itself then.
Sorry. Can't help. I gues someone else with SDK / a rooted phone (?) will need to extract it for you?..
- Mark

Just extract them from one of the cooked ROMs, at the Click Android Development section...

here you are. before replacing system files you should always make a backup.

WM6 Backup?

Ok I want to do a full Backup of my Herald, so if it crash that i can go into Windows, fire up a program, pressing "restore old ROM" and it is the way i had backuped it.
I know some programs, that are storing backup datas like sms, contacts etc. - but thats not enough for me.
So is there a program that can fulfill my needs?
( and yes, i read a lot in the forum here - but i didn't found anything or i'm just a bit blind )

When you do a backup of your ppc with spb backup, it will backup everything that is on your device (ROM) that is not part of the ROM itself.
It means that all programs installed after a hard reset, all the databases (mails, contacts, notifications,...) all the registry, and all files not being part of the ROM.
So if you do a hard reset and you restore the backup it will be exactly the same as it when you did the backup. And I think that it is what you want.
Caution, if you do an OS up/downgrade, your backup is useless. This backup cannot be either installed on another device.
Cheers,
Fred
ok sweet - ty fred. another question: what if i changed the ROM - how to backup that ? no solution yet?

This is device dependent. With some of them, it is possible, with others it's not, for several reasons. If you don't find tools or someone who managed to do it and provided the way to do so, well you're stuck... I think dumping is not the biggest problem, the real problem is the restore stuff. Sorry, but it is so.
Cheers,
Fred
hehe ok ok - i would be a step closer to my goal if i would find a way to unlock the ROM/ break into, so i can change files in there...

What do you mean? If you're talking about doing it 'live', forget about that. But if you're talking about changing the contents of the Rom before doing the upgrade, well the tools are already existing and kitchens too (depending on the device)
Cheers,
Fred
Well ok - i searched my ass off through the forum, but i didn'T found any solution to get my current WM6 ROM out of the mobile phone ( so i can edit it ).
Gimme a hint pls, so i can proceed researching the stuff.

It should be an official Rom, am I right? If it is the case, download it on the official site and use NBHExtract to get the dump of the .nbh file and rebuild it. Have a look in hermes forum and in xda-wiki
Cheers,
Fred
Yeah it is official, but the thing is: there are no downloads avaiable yet. and thats the point so i'm a bit stucked here...

http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Herald_Upgrades
hehe been there almost 6 times today - and if you try to download them, they would fail.
And the thing is: my current ROM versions exceeds hell of the versions on that page. so why should i use the old ones ? thats not really what i want to :/

Cook WIMP in Rom

I finally bought the software package of WIMP (Where is My Phone) and I read somewhere that it is possible to 'cook' the program into the rom so when the thief does a Hard Reset it stays into the phone so I can always retrieve it. Only the tutorials I have found aren't useable on the Touch HD (Blackstone).
Does anyone has a tutorial to cook WIMP into the Rom of the Touch HD, or maybe another program like WIMP which I can use and cook?
Have you got it to autostart on your phone?? Atleast that is what i am trying to do, but no luck still, do you have a "howto"? Without autostarting the program is basically useless
I have also been looking into this type of thing.
http://pocketpc-live.com/help-and-support/1575-install-uta-on-ext-rom-htc-devices.html
This is for UTA instead... but i guess the same would apply.

Thank you for the link, but in this link they are referring to a different Rom than the standard HTC rom. I want to know if it's possible to cook it in the standard HTC Rom. I can't test is, because it will need an hard reset to test, and an hard reset is the last I want
Is there someone who could test it for me?
Thanks in advance.

xt9 doesnt save words

hello fellow chefs
i have a problem with all the latest xt9 packages
when i use it and save words its safed in the memory
butt hen when i make a soft reset it has forgotten all words that i added
do you have the same problem or does anybody know a way to fix it
best regards
chris
You need to make sure NOT to cook in the database files that it uses, otherwise they become "ready only" and the device can't overwrite them to save new words in them. I believe both of them have an .adb extension. I might be mistaken though, someone correct me please.

[Q] Changing Device ID

Hey guys, i was just wondering if it were possible to change the ID or whatever our phones use to tell the apps what device we are using.
For example, I downloaded that T-mobile backup thing and when i ran the app it said the phone I'm using is not supported by T-mobile. There was also once a time when Pandora radio wouldn't work because my device was called 'Leo".

Thats a really good question, I think it has something to do with the build prop. Not positive though.
P.S. Questions like this belong in the "general" section.
Sorry, had no idea my post didnt belong as I normally get here via the Android Development topic located on the HTC HD2 ROM development page.
I'm not sure, but I've read something about this long time ago.
But I can't find the link anymore, I'm sorry, try to google "Change Device ID Android"

I'm sorry, I've just found it again and it was something about the Bluetooth device ID, and that ID should be easy to change
I don't know how to change this ID, I think it is IMEI related anyway, so it isn't possible on a legal way..
Cheers
Yes, you have to edit the "build.prop" file. Some "chefs" include it inside the build while others put it inside the system.ext2 filesystem. In the latter case you will have to open system.ext2. If you have no experience w/ a Linux system I would not recommend it though.

The IMEI is a unique number. I just looked it up.
It is 15 characters long. The first 8 are for identifying the phone. There is also the producer included. But you are right, the IMEI has nothing to do with the model and/or apps that won't install.
i am pretty sure you do this by
Make a backup of /dbdata/databases /com.android.providers.settings /settings.db file
Then in ADB:
su
cd /dbdata/databases/com.android.providers.settings sqlite3 settings.db
sqlite> insert into secure (’name’, ‘value’ ) values (’android_id’,'device_id_goes_here’);
sqlite> .exit
Reboot
note 'device_id_goes_here’is your 16 digit HEX device ID
This is not illegal, and does not effect the IMEI... It is a separate 16 digit hex number.

It may help you.
Android ID Changer:
Look in the market.
Did not work for everybody.

Since the AppMarket checks the phone id, if the ROM you installed isn't on the approved list you can't even download this.

[Q] open and Modify ROM

O.K. i have looked for the answer to this question and the closest i can get is from a post in 2006 using Hypercore. So with that said i am sorry if i am overlooking the the answer somewhere. i love the WhiteStone_WM6.5_D4C2_21905_COM2_PV built by "pdaviet".The problem is that I would like to open this rom and add a couple of thing to it wrap it back up and put it back on my phone. How do i do this. i have been trying to figure this out for 6 hours now and i am about to lose my mind not to mention my eyes. any direction somebody can point me is appreciated.
Try this method, and ignore posts that say you can't dump protected roms. You may need to change settings, depending on the device.

Depends on what device you use. Not an easy task if you have no idea how the cooking process work.

thanks for quick reply i would like to adjust it for hd2.
I got this kitchen customized only for TP2 devices. No time to adjust it for HD2.
BTW Anyway even if you would have such a kitchen for HD2, I don't think it will be any usage for you if you don't know how cooking works...

thanks again i only need this to add few apps in a custom rom.i dont know much about cooking but i am trying to learn with help ofnice people like you.
Just install them by using cab files. Much easier (and safer!).
Recooking roms is not something you are able to learn in a day or two.

i know it is not easy but can you please tell me how can i modify this to extract leo rom.thanks
You're gonna need to modify the ini files in the tools folder. I think you'll need to add the HD2 to the list in htcrt.ini and htcrt_devices.ini, and then get a Leo.htcrtproj file. The easiest thing would be to download a Leo-specific kitchen and get the files (or maybe the settings that you need.). I've never done it before, but it looks pretty easy. Just open the files with notepad, and you'll see what's missing.
thank for reply .i will give it a try,
