Help!! Uninstall HARDSPL goes wrong. - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM Development

Hello!
Like the title says: HARDSPL goes wrong.
I need to uninstall hardspl so i can use my warranty.
I have follow the tutorial in this thread how to uninstall it http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=611433
When the flash is compleated and its time for reboot i got this message http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hWWpBbQTPb8
If i take out the memorycard and reboot i got this message http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O4S-Rcqwlsc
If i try to reflash i getting the same message as the firs plus it says "upgrade ROM code error please try agen"
Can some one please help me out with this?
And yes i have done a hard reset.
And yes i have try to boot via usb to reflash.
If its to any help i used a ROM from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=577717 tha one called "LEO2.07"

I think you have to find official ROM which was installed on you HD2 before you changed HARDSPL and installed cooked ROM. You'll find all official ROM's in Leo Official ROMs thread. When you find the right one install it from your SD card. Hope this helps

Like I said. I have used a rom from official rom thread=) I also tryed the rom from htc.com with same resoult.
Can I uninstall a bad flash or something and start from the beginning ? Cuz now im stockt in my situation.

Like I said you have to find the "right" one. It's not just any official ROM. I my case I had to install some really old ROM. Unfortunately I don't know how to find the right one, just use the trial and error method.

Okej! Sorry for missunderstanding. So the only way out is to try everyone ?
I was lucky to get the first released hd2 in my city, so i bett its a old one =)
Does it have to be the same language release to ?

In official ROMs thread is link to Shared folder for shipped Leo ROMs. In there are very well organised ROMs by country and carrier, you should find it quick enough. Just start with 1.43 and 1.48 and only those which matches your country and/or carrier.

or just to HTCs website and get it from there (assuming its not a vendor locked device)

I have trayd every rom that compatibility with my region "SVE" and its not working. I still get the message "upgrade rom code error please try agen". In the 1.43 i cant find my region, does that meens that is it impossible that i could have been that release of rom ?
Does sombody knows if there any way to cheack the stock ROM from a serialnumber or somthning like that?

Dont realy know what that its. But I press vol down and start bottom. Then the tri-colored screen shows up "bootloader" for about 1 second. Then i got this screen http://img405.imageshack.us/i/20090607028.jpg/
I have let it load for about 20min, then i gave up.

I'm afraid to say this, but you have SPL 2.07, which means you are on 'official SPL' and can only flash TMOS Official ROM (since the only SPL 2.07 is tied to US ROM)
I think the only way is to use goldcard, to flash your country's official ROM via sdcard (although I'm not sure if that will work, because I read some folks have problem with that)

Its seems i also have a problem flashing a stock rom for warranty reasons.
I did the following steps:
1. Get an official stock rom. (in my case it would me a NLD ROm 1.48)
2. Put it on storage card en change to LEOIMG.nbh
3. Turn of phone, press volume down en power up unntil tri color screen apears.
4. Follow steps on sreen.
But. I dont get step 4. On step it says for 1 sec ''loading''. After that, it goes back to the trii colour HARDSPL screen.
Does anyone know what im doing wrong?
I tried two different SD cards. A 2 gb version and a 4 gb version (both from Scandisk formatted as FAT32)
Is there a way/possible to flash a stock rom using activesync?

In post #64 fards helped XMOO get the device working again, only with SPL 2.07... maybe the rest of the thread provides more info or solutions. I didn't read any further.

No, your warranty is invalid as you're using an SPL/ROM not for your region - hence why you shouldn't flash a ROM from the SD card as this is the issue you have. You're now stuck with a broken HD2 until HSPL can be used on SPL 2.x

Okej. Thats not good Hope some one release a HSPL 2.xx then =) But now i can't even use my phone anymore.

(just to double check)when you boot to bootloader, what does it say next to spl?
if it says spl 2.x then the above posts are correct, and you are stuck with spl2 until hspl2 is released.
You CAN get your phone working again, even with spl 2.
You need a goldcard, and you can then flash the 2.x official rom which will at least get your phone working. Once it is working, you can then flash custom roms using sspl BUT ONLY roms based on the 2.x official rom, and you won't be able to change radios using sspl. The only way you can change your radio is flashing a 2.x official rom with the goldcard.

Did you flash it from a storage card? Otherwise hspl could't be removed, right?
Looks like you have to consult this thread for a possible solution.
BTW, just wondering, can one flash the new test rom the hspl way from a usb connected pc?

I used both method.
Flashed with usb having HSPL
Flashed with goldcard using SDcard (to have the new SPL)
sigh.. another that 'bite the dust'.
hopefully the other thread's thread starter can really put a note in his thread to alert people that this is not yet another rom that can be flashed and re-flashed by other roms!

Have you tried Flashing 2.02 using Goldcard + SDcard??
2.02 requiers his own spl 2.0
I think this could be a option.
Flash 2.02 Goldcard-SDcard
Flash 1.66
Flash HSPL
Havn't tested it yet tho.
Anyone dare to test it?
If it fails, I think you can flashback the 2.07 rom.
doesn't work
via sd card it sits on loading, so doesn't appear to recognize the card. if that's so then goldcard wont work.
ill play some more later with formatting the card again, but i think ideally what we need is something to kick in before the spl, in the same way the sspl does.
Gonna download RUU_Leo_Vodafone_UK_1.43.405.1_Radio_Signed_15.26.50.07U_2.04.50.22_2_Ship.exe and copy the rom to my sd card see if I have any luck with that as it is the version my device shipped with.
I didn't change the first 2 digits of my serial to 00 so I am not sure my gold card will work and can't find anywhere to get a new gold card at the moment.

it's probably a goldcard issue.
Since the new spl, the device name and ID had changed, so now the goldcard for the HD2 doesn't work... Now we need goldcard for the new name/id...
don't think it is goldcard unfortunately
Just some noobies taughts about this please don't kill me.
Could it be possible that 2.07 SPL is on another position and therefore it avoids to flash back to a earlier SPL because the adres is different?

don't think it's that, but we can't discount anything till we work out what they've done..
Cotulla said it may be that HTC have plugged some holes and decided to restrict downgrading. That makes sense to me, but I wish I could think of a way around it (that I could manage), it's way above my level as well
It is possible to reflash the 207 using goldcard (so it's not the goldcard) so it's likely we can go up with the spl numbers with the newer roms if wanted.
I'm hoping that they decide to release 2xx based roms for the rest of the world after the tmous HD2 is out; doubtful but we can hope!

What did I do to my new LEO????

Well I got my new Leo 13 days ago and I've tried to make the stock ROM work to my satisfaction but between the T-Mo junk installed and terrible battery life I decided it was time to try a cooked ROM...
So I read and read and read some more...It's not my first run at this but I wanted to understand everything so I didn't end up with a $449 paperweight.
This morning I download and installed the HSPL-1024....No problems, went just as the instructions said....
I then download a 1024 T-Mo tested/approved Energy Rom and I install it on my LEO.... No problem everything went as it should. I played with the rom and wanted to try another one with a different look so I found another 1024 LEO Rom, the RoMEoS4 or something like that.... Anyway, that install went just fine...
After installing both cooked ROMS I noticed I was having freezing/locking up issues and had to keep soft reseting so after several hours of it locking up I decided to just revert back to the stock T-Mo USA rom.
I then went on here and found the exact shipped rom I had originally (I had documented the versions I had prior to HSPL and the cooked rom's)
http://beta.vbnfiles.com/index.php?...08.50.08_2_Ship.zip&directory=xmoo/Leo/TMOUS&
Instructions on here clearly explained how to revert back (for warranty purposes) so I downloaded the exact stock rom, extracted it to my desktop and renamed the nbh file leoimg.nbh.... I then copied it to a formatted 8gb SDcard and inserted it into the phone.
Instructions said to hold the Volume down botton and the Power button until it boots into the bootloader and then begins to install off the card. I did this exactly and shortly after it began loading off the card it went back to the bootloader and said "Upgrade Rom Code Error, Please try again" it then goes to a gray screen that says "Loading" and stays there...stuck.
Here's a video of what it does when I try to load off the sdcard.....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eCD_-EuI1_Q
I have no idea what happened or what to do to get it out of this...
Thanks for your time!
Jess

Put it into bootloader mode, hook it up to your computer with USB, and run to stock image like you did with the cooked roms. That should flash it back to stock. Then, if you want to take the hspl off, you can just run the hspl program again and change it back to your lod spl. No need to use SD card.
Every time a thread like this pops up, I can't help but wish that the "flash from SD card" method and every reference to it could be eradicated from the collective consciousness of this forum and all unwitting participants who fall into this trap... at least long enough to establish that:
1) it isn't a necessary or preferred method to flash.
2) it has the potential to cause stuff like this to happen.

I got those instructions from a very popular chef on here so I was under the assumption that was the only way to revert back from HSPL
I've learned a valuable lesson here.....Leave it the hell alone!!!!

If you can get to the boot loader, then you should be able to fix this pretty easily.
I'd do this:
Get to the boot loader, check the SPL version. Do you have HSPL 2.08?
IF no, install it using HSPL2_1024_RUN, (if you want a custom ROM option), or install the standard SPL if you want to have an "unhacked" HD2, and flash the stock ROM. Done.
IF HSPL 2.08 is installed and you want it like that to install custom ROMs, then I'd do the following, just for good measure:
run MTTY/task29 to clean out all the old stuff (see my sig line)
flash the TMOUS 2.08 Radio
flash a custom TMOUS compatible ROM

No, the new version of HSPL (HSPL2_1024_RUN) has an option to re-install the standard SPL. If I wanted to do that, i'd definitely use HSPL2_1024_RUN to do it.

The SPL reverted back to the original 2.08 SPL when it began the install the stock rom (before it gave me the error) So it does not have the HSPL in it anymore.
I've tried all kinds of different things to fix it but I get an error or no response with everything.
I did try to reinstall the HSPL but when I try I get the below error from the HSPL2 proggie.
Critical Error

Error Code 00000004
Discription: BAD MODEL ID

I believe this is why I've not been able to fix it myself.... I'm usually pretty good with these installs. My Kaiser saw hundreds of new roms if not more and I never ran into this.
Thanks

Make sure you have the sd card out of the phone. So you get into bootloader mode, and you run the rom update from the computer? Maybe try downloading the stock rom again to make sure it's not corrupted. You should be able to flash it from your computer.
Before flashing any rom I would do task29 and completely wipe the internal memory, so you don't have any issues with left over files from the last rom. That is most likely why you started having problems in the first place. I used to think oh I can just flash a rom and it will work like new, but nope I had more problems I could deal with and almost returned the damn thing. Once you know what you are doing WM is a great OS to have and the only other phone I thought even cam eclose toa WM phone was the iPhone anyG, if i'm allowed to say that here. So, task29 first then enter bootloader and the run your customruu with any rom compatible with the TMOUS HD2 1024. Any questions just holla.

If you can get your phone into bootloader then just do task29. Here is the Mega link.

Once task29 is done, pull your battery out and replace after 10-15 secs. Then enter bootloader again and try the stock or custom rom you want. I have been at the 0% screen before even 70% and 99% and stuck. Mine is the HTC HD2 TMOUS branded and I am currently using the AxLor Leo V9 rom and she works like a dream. ahh ok, that IS the stock rom, but its a repack of the 2.1 rom, not an official .exe/nbh pack. (Well, my kitchen wont import it, says its not official, and it comes with customruu)
However, look for
RUU_Leo_1_5_TMOUS_2.10.531.0_Radio_Signed_15.34.50.07U_2.08.50.08_2_Ship
which is the packed ship .exe. (and does open as official in the kitchen)
ill submit this, and see if i can find the link.

I am glad you pointed out this error on my part. I honestly did not know that HSPL2 and HSPL1024 were 2 different programs....
I was merely referring to HSPL1024 as the second version of HSPL....or HSPL2..... I didn't mean to create confusion... sorry about that...
To confirm I am using HSPL-1024

Every time a thread like this pops up, I can't help but wish that the "flash from SD card" method and every reference to it could be eradicated from the collective consciousness of this forum and all unwitting participants who fall into this trap... at least long enough to establish that:
1) it isn't a necessary or preferred method to flash.
2) it has the potential to cause stuff like this to happen.

so I'm kinda confused...you say that that you shouldn't flash from the sd card. and im sure you know more about this technically speaking than I do but what confuses me is I've been told and read MANY times by people probably more experience than both of us that flashing from your sd card IS the safest way to flash...im not saying your wrong but it concerns me because that is the method I use mainly for convience.but if this has the potential to destroy my very expensive device that I can't afford to replace I would REALLY like to know and know why. if anybody can guide me here why two different stories and maybe some reasons why one method had a higher chance for problems I would really appreciate it =)

It's not that its about luck is about reading which ROM is compatible.
Sorry about your brick.
Kenichi
Thats why its always important to read the stickies and the 'for noobs' postings before flashing. They stress it so many times but yet there's always someone who just doesnt read. Or if they do read they dont understand and flash anyway.
Preaching wont help you any now.
Try contacting HTC and see what they say.

Lets cut this guy a small break... based on his relatively poor spelling and grammar i don't think he can even read English. It's amazing how he got it to flash in the first place.....
That was a funny one
no have to do with read english i dont not english and i flash everything and i have android on my hd2
I had the same thing happen to me. I downloaded hspl but didnt notice that there was a difference between the leo and tmousa roms. Anyway i installed a rom and it bricked my phone. I have HSPL 2.08 installed. Does this mean i can just retry a different tmousa rom (by sd card or usb??) and im ok?
Or am i screwed too and have to go to a early version?

if you just flashed a rom, you are fine. Boot into bootloader, and flash a compatible rom. Its only radios that kill the tmous, and most custom roms dont include a radio. Its mainly the non tmous official roms you need to avoid.
so basically thats what ive been doing. i put a nbh file into a sd card and load bootloader. It doesnt seem to do anything. I found on you tube that i have to rename the file to leoimg.nbh?
do i have to do this or do i just throw a compatible nbh file and it should autoload in bootloader. Also is there a way to install 2.13.xxx the lastest tmobile stock rom from bootloader? All the ones i have been able to find are in .exe format and want me to have my device be active synced. I tried putting those on a sd card and flashing like that but i didnt do anything.
the funny thing was i really did try to flash a radio from a leo at first but it did not work after 5 attempts. Then the chucky rom finally did the trick.
Now i cant seem to flash from sd card. I dont think i know the process.
no need to flash from sd card, just go into bootloader, plug in teh usb, wait for 'serial' to become 'usb', run customruu on teh pc.
Whilst in bootloader,. check what it says next to 'spl', the number there should end '.hspl' and not '.0000'
damn im trying to install the nibbey rom but it doesnt work. I got it to go to 7% max one time and now its always 0% when i retry. I put the leo_customruu in the same folder as the nibbey nbh. and then start the customruu! is this the correct procedure?

Yes it says hspl not 0000. Also i think my batter is below 50 percent now with no way to charge it. im starting to be believe that might be the reason it stopped at 7 percent and now the more i retry i get 0%.
also i am not able to get a active sync connection anymore with my device stuck in hspl bootloader. So the whole usb rom flash fails every time. Someone help i need my phone tomorrow.
i got it fixed! turns out i needed a 2gb sd card and it worked perfectly to install a custom rom.
I will buy your brick from you dude.

[Q] Help Stuck At Bootloader!!!

So I was installing a stock rom on my device so I could return it to tmobile, but i think i may have installed the wrong type of rom. Its showing I have spl-3.03.0000 XE, and it gives me this error that states "upgrade ROM code error Please Try Again" and when I try another stock rom it gives me an error that states "wrong vendor ID" is there any way to fix this and install a stock rom once again?
The ROM you flashed, where did you download it from? If it was not from the T–Mobile website I suvvest you go download the official upgrade ROM from there, when it ask for hour IMEI number you can vet it from under battery.

Ok from the title of your thread here I am assuming you are puttng you HD2 into bootloader, waiting for USB in the white bar of bootloader and then flash the ROM? If you are doing this try right clicking on the RUU and select run as administrator. If that does not work try flashing it via SD card. Go to this thread to learn how to flash via SD card.

This happens when you have hspl installed and then flash a 3.14 stock rom over sd card.
Hspl gets removed, replaced by 3.03.0000, the flash tries to continue but cant.
The first and biggest question is..... you say it's from t mobile., but what colour are the send and end keys? White? Or red and green? Since to get the error you get implies an incorrect stock rom, and incorrect stock roms kill tmous phones.please also include the complete filename of the stock roms you have tried, especially the first one that gave rom code error.
Try creating a gold card. It will force you through to flashing off the SD card. I also can JTAG this and resolve the problem for you as long as there is not physical nand-failure.

the send and end keys are green and red.... the stock rom that gave me the error is ruu_leo_s_tmo_de_3.14.111.1_radio_15.42.50.11u_2.15.50.14_leo_s_ship
Also have tried Installing The tmobile update directly from tmobile.com T-Mobile_HD2_MR_Software_3.14.531.1
OK I was able to get the phone to boot up by using a test rom but it still will not load up a stock rom it won't work through ruu or from sd card the spl also changed to 2.00.100 XE is there anything else i can try? thanx for the help!
Ahh see now that's a shame.
you do have a tmous, but the rom tmo_de IS NOT for your phone.
That's about as close to bricking your phone as you can get without actually bricking it.
that rom is tmo Germany, which means it is for the regular hd2. The ONLY stock roms your phone will accept are tmous stock roms. All other t mo roms from around the world are for regular hd2.
And now you made it worse by flashing a test rom with an spl which is a pain to get rid of.
In the test and stock roms thread where you found that test rom, DO NOT flash the first rom in the list, it will kill your phone.look at the end of the list and there is a version of hspl edited to work with spl 2.00
Give that a try first.
You aren't the first so Google stuck on spl 2.00.1000 and start reading.
DO NOT FLASH ANYTHING TILL YOU ARE 100% SURE OF THE EXPECTED OUTCOME.
You got real lucky, there are countless threads here that go "tmous, non tmous stock rom, phone now utterly dead",,, don't ruin it now by going flash crazy.

You need to go to the "Leo 1.5 T-Mobile Test & Stock ROMs" thread anf use the link at the bottom of post one named " HSPL with MFG SPL 2.00 support!". This is suppose to support the SPL version you have and allow you to flash HSPL to your HD2 wich should allow you to flash the official T-Mobile ROM or any custom ROM you want to flash. Good luck
Edit: You beat me to the punch Sam
Also the first stock ROM must have changed your SPL and that must have been why you could not flash the official T-Mobile ROM. Like Sam said you got very lucky, if that first stock ROM would have flashed hou would have had a bricked HD2.
OK well tried using the hspl3 but still get the error saying bad spl so I'm gunna start reading up and hope there's a way to get the stock rom back on the phone. Thanks everyone for all your help its greatly appreciated!!

You do mean the specially adapted hspl from the teststock roms thread right? Not just normal hspl3?
If so, next step should probably be goldcard.

Hello again,
Just wondering if you flashed the correct stock rom check out this post to make sure...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623283
It must be the correct one for your device otherwise there could be a radio problem!!
You do have HSDPL 2.08 on your HD2 so that is a plus. Please post your Carrier's name and the region the HD2 is from. I can use this info to make sure you have the correct stock ROM for your device and see if it might be a older version Win Mo ROM for your device as I think you have what is referred to as a stuck radio. If I remember right some members that have had this was able to get a older version of Win Mo to flash and then they were good to go again. Maybe Samsamuel will come and give some of his enlightened advice as he probably good guide you more than I could.

Yes enter the serial number of your device into the HTC website and it should show you the correct ROM for your device. If that does not work try entering the serial number in google and see what you can find that way.

As I posted in my first post, it appears you have a stuck radio problem. The only way you will fix it is to find a stock ROM for device that has a earlier version radio. For some reason only earlier radio versions have been able to fix this problem, but it must be in a stock RUU. Just flashing the radio will not work. I am truly sorry I can not offer any more help, but with out the information I asked you for in my second post in this thread I can not help you find a RUU that might would work.

Try your stock ROM.
This is the Stocks on the HTC web page.
If you have tmobile use this with your imei
http://dl.htc.com/ruudownload/t-mobileUS/Filedownload.aspx?pid=leo2
Or if you have EU version;
http://www.htc.com/sea/help/htc-hd2/#download
Choose "news and download". And choose Rom update.

Flash magldr and it should work, if it works and it still doesnt let you flash a rom then boot an sd rom from magldr.
Has this not been solved? I see many suggestions but no reply lately from OP.
If it is a radio problem, you can always flash a radio without changing your ROM.
I am curious as to why this started in the first place. Where you using your phone and one day it stopped?
Did you flash the android ROM or did you buy it that way?
Which android ROM was it?

If the OP or anyone else for that matter has what is known as a stuck radio. Then just flashing the radio will not work, it will fail every time. I do not know what causes the issue on HD2's but I do know it does exist. I also do not know why flashing older ROMs via RUU works to fix the issue sometimes either, but again I do know it does on occasion work to fix the device. When you have a stuck radio it does as the OP says it will fail when trying to flash the radio. It also for some reason prevents you from flashing anything to the system partition of the device. Now I know people will say just flash a custom Win Mo ROM as they do not have radios with them or just flash MAGLDR or clk. But again it will not let you flash anything to the system partition so this is null and void as well. Being able to fix this is just finding the right combonation of older SPL version and older radio version in the same RUU. I have never seen a stuck radio be fixed by flashing from SD card.

Ok, I see. I was not aware of this 'stuck radio' issue. This is the first time I hvae heard of it. I have had the white screen of death before. Mine was caused by a flashable zip that I made which I had misplaced the proper files. I adb'd those files back to the proper location and all was well. That is why I was asking if it happened out of nowhere or after something had changed.
If you cannot do a task 29, but flashing older stock ROMs do work may be because they perform a similar task while flashing. I may be the system partition is too full to allow anything to be loaded to flash.
But, I do not know.
