Marketplace for Windows Mobile still installs to device memory? - Touch Pro2, Tilt 2 Themes and Apps

Pro2 on wm6.1 factory WWE/Asian ROM
I have the latest Marketplace installed but it still installs to device memory despite settings set to storage card. I have tried a few apps and none installed to the card - only one prompted an error saying it could not install to the card: Microsoft My Phone.
Anyone experiencing the same issue? Thx

On the latest Marketplace I installed, you can go into the menu under "settings" and set the default download location to "/Storage Card". Tried a couple downloads and it works for me.
Note that it won't give you the option where to download when you select a cab, it just defaults to that location.

Just curious, which downloads have you tried?

I have downloaded the following from WM, directly to storage card:
Aloqa (but I disabled this after it kept freezing up my TP2)
IMDB
All Mobile Mines
Good luck.

Are you sure you have the latest version? I kept getting a message that I did have the latest version but had no option to install on storage card. I deleted market place with remove programs funtion and then went and reinstalled it. I then got the newest version which has the options to where you install stuff.

I couldn't find IMDB on the list, but I upgraded my All Mobile Mines from Marketplace and it installed to storage card. Looks like some apps only install to device memory - the lack of any prompting or notice is kinda annoying.

Mesquire,
You are correct and I was mistaken -- I apparently downloaded IMDB from elsewhere. I forgot the name of the 3rd app that I downloaded from WM to storage card.
I am glad you were able to download at least some apps to storage card. It is weird that some apps download correctly (to storage card) and some don't. I doubt that WM is advanced enough to disable storage-card-downloads on those apps which need to be installed to main memory, so I guess we'll just have to live with this glitch. Again, good luck.

Updating manually installed apps

I used Astro File manager to install backed up apps, but they don't show up in the Market -> Downloads list after flashing (obviously). Is there a way to sync the list with my installed apps? Do I now have to manually check for updates for EACH app?
Once you download it from the market it will appear on the list. You can use aTrackdog to check updates for all installed apps too.

Right, but what I'm saying is that I manually installed them and didn't go through the Market...so they don't show up in the list.
I'll try that aTrackdog. Thanks.
Read again, YOU HAVE TO DOWNLOAD THEM FROM THE MARKET FOR THEM TO SHOW UP IN THE DOWNLOADS!

RIGHT, THAT'S WHY I MADE THE THREAD, BECAUSE THEY DON'T SHOW UP, BECAUSE I USED ASTRO TO INSTALL THEM, NOT THE MARKET.
Im asking for a way to sync or update them WITHOUT HAVING TO DOWNLOAD THEM FROM THE MARKET.
aTrackdog apparently is the answer.
aTrackdog just shows updates, then you download it from the market. What I was stressing was you have to download them from the market to get them to show up in the downloads. There is no way to sync them without getting it from the market.

Yeah, that's all I really want is the updates. I just don't feel like re-downloading 30 apps just to have them show up. lol
I might just have to suck it up and do it. aTrackdog goes through a lot of extra stuff vs. only showing the updates available (via Market) Thanks for the help though!

Well if you have atrack dog, it will tell you there are updates. Then when you update them via market they're now in your market downloads and you can get updates from the market for that app.
Not sure if I am getting lucky or what, but the following has happened for me twice now... Once on my G1 and once on my wife's G1...
I used MyBackup Pro to back-up my Apps and the data that I cared about... Made a copy of my SD card on my PC... Formatted the SD card... Repartioned using Amon Ra's recovery... Ext2 -> Ext4... System wipe... Flashed the "defanged" HTC image... Flashed CM 4.2.13... Flashed the radio... Signed in... Went to the market and ONLY searched for Astro... Downloaded Astro... Exited the market and mounted the SD card... Copied my SD image on the PC onto the SD card... Used Astro to install MyBackup Pro... Used it to back-up my Apps and data... Rebooted...
After everything was done, I went to the market and THEN went to the My Downloads section... All of my Apps appeared and were tagged as "installed"...
Might just be a fluke, but if not... Your welcome...
MBP backs up the market as part of the settings, so yes it works as it should.

Windows Marketplace app.

I've searched a long time for this and can't find the new marketplace app that gives you the option of installing apps to SD card instead of only device.
Can anyone point me in the right direction please?
Thank you.
Anyone please?
im confused, are you trying to install market place to SD card instead of device or are you trying to make sure the apps you download from marketplace are installed to SD card
If its the second one, open up marketplace, then at the bottom is menu, click on that then settings, in there it asks for the default place to install apps.

Sorry for the confusion, yes it is the second one. Thanks, I followed your suggestion. I'm sorted. Really appreciate the help.

[Q] Download Unsucesful? Manual Nooter 4.5.6

So.....the main page says that the Download Unsuccesful has been fixed as of 4.5.6.
It's so obviously NOT fixed. I've tried doing the whole SD card thing. I managed to get a few apps downloaded and installed the first day....after that NOTHING will install from the market. It ALL says download unsucessful.
So what am I doing wrong? I don't have a PC that I can install an ADB on at the moment, that'll come in a week or so. But I would like to know what everyone else is doing to keep it working.
Having no problems on two of them here. Try the market visibility fix anyway and make sure that you can connect to google talk (the market needs that).
Tried Google Talk, that worked just fine...and I had already done the Market visablity fix, and that didn't work either.
I just don't get it.

Try rerunning 4.5.6, it sounds as if for some reason the fix didn't take hold.

What happens if I re-root? Would it mess my installed apps or are there any risks?
I already have ROM manager installed on my manual nooted 1.2. Can I boot to CWM from there and re-root?
The odd thi g is now Im getting some apps to install. A winzip type app and ezPDF both installed from the market.
Does it have to do with installing ON the SD card?

What do you mean by installing "ON" the SD Card?
I meant the app being installed ON the SD Card instead of the main memory.

"Out of Space" error problem...

Hi, I'm having a problem with an erroneous "out of space" error when trying to install an application. I had Skype 2.0 working on the phone with minor issues for a few days. I then uninstalled it to try a new version and since then, whenever I try to reinstall any version of Skype (even the one from the market), it gives me an out of space error. I can, however, install other applications, so it's clearly not a space issue, as Skype isn't a big application.
Any ideas?
Thanks,
-Rob
Move apps to your sd card
Settings>applications>manage applications>(click on a big app)>move to sd
And your done
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA Premium App
You could also uninstall some apps you use less frequently until you can get Skype installed and then put those other apps back on.
...
Thanks for your replies. The issue here is that I'm 99.9% sure that I actually DO have space to install the application, it just won't install. Other applications will install currently, I've removed a bunch of other applications, and I actually HAD Skype installed two days ago. It's very odd. Any other ideas?
Thanks,
-Rob

Wipe cache and dalvik 3x.
I had the same issue with Skype. It bloated to ~40mb after two or so days, so I uninstalled it. I wasn't able to reinstall it after that, regardless of available space. I have since loaded a rom so I was able to install after everything was wiped, but I never found a way to get it installed before that. Having said that, I didn't really try very hard, because the Skype app annoys me more than anything else I've ever downloaded. I've also re-removed it since I put on the new rom
...
I tried out the cache wipes, but it didn't work, unfortunately.
Gorilla, that is not good news. I suppose I needed an update, anyway...oh well.
Thanks for the help!
-Rob
I've never personally had the issue, but I've read about applications not installing a second time and throwing this error. It could be some residual files left over from the last installation.
Use a file explorer and search for "skype" and see what pops up. Remove them all. Reboot phone and try installing again.
If you already bought Root Explorer, that should work, but I use Super Manager as it works just the same and is free.

Can't install any Apk ( Games or Applications )

Only from play store I can install games or applications. but unfortunately after I updated my phone I can't install any applications anymore from my memory card or phone memory. Note 3 won't let me install downloaded apk's even though I enabled to install apps from unknown sources in the Android settings. It opens up the install dialog but then I can't click on install - just cancel works.
Please help me to solve this problem.
Thanks in advance

Maybe these apps/games are not compatible with the Note`s resolution, are these regular apps/games or cracks?

Disable any screen dimmers you have, especially any that change your screen to red or blue.
Wow. I can't believe that worked. Thanks so much!
