Cannot flash from sd card but can flash from USB - HD2 General

Hi i have flashed my HD2 from a sd card for more than 30 times but now I am unable to flash using my sd card.
I get into the boot loader mode with leoimg.nbh on sd card, but in the bootloader mode white colored loading screen appears for some fractions of a second and returns to tri color screen.
I was using Ozrom on the device last when i discovered this problem.
spl - 1.42.hspl
cotullahspl
Please help...
Sorry for my bad english.
Also I had already done alot of searching but could not find anything...
Update :
Now i cant flash from usb also. First I was able to flash from usb but now I cannot.
-Tried using a new sd card and formatted with fat32 file system. Problem still exists...
-Checked the file name and extensions its not "leoimg.nbh.nbh".
-Tried flashing just leoimg.nbh on card
-tried flashing with 5 different roms from different cooks
-tried renaming the file to capitals LEOIMG.nbh
-updated the hspl to hspl2 2.08
Problem is not solved.

There may be a problem with the sd card. Are you still using the same card you have used before? If so, try formatting the card (FAT32) or try a different sd card if you have one.
You can of course continue using usb, sd card flashing is only really needed in order to remove hspl.

Maybe is your card corrupted, try to format it in FAT32...

Mate, you only need to flash from sd card when you cant flash from usb. I dont know why you are getting this error but dont worry too much. Did you name the file correctly (leoimg)? It's easy to make a mistake here. Some people rename the file to leoimg.nbh - you dont need to add the .nbh. It's already an nbh file - so you would end up with leoimg.nbh.nbh
Lastly dont flash a 2.10 rom via sd card or you will end up stuck with an spl that you cant change

i know about the file extensions and file names...i am flashing since 3 years from memory card....i am not a newbie..tell solutions other than the problems occured to noobs...like rename error..format memory card stuff...i want some solution other than that..
thanx alot for your support its really appreciated...looking forward for your help..hope now this time you can divert me in the right direction

problem still exists can anyone help?

I always used to flash my diamond from internal storage when i had it. Got my HD2 and carried on flashing from SD for my first 2 or 3 ROMs and then it stopped working having the same thing as you. As if it tries to read the .nbh then goes back to the bootloader. I havent let it worry me as im nearly always next to a pc when im flashing a new ROM (have to be now), but I would be interested to find the answer as well.

but no one is really interested to reply here peovide a solution.....infact they are advising to flash from a pc...but i want to flash from a sd card

Just keep using USB, less lilkely to go wrong anyway

Can i flash radio rom from SD card?

I have managed to get HSPL on to my HD2 without issue (by borrowing a mates laptop), sadly i didnt have internet access at the time and didnt download the customruu loader i needed for my radio rom update.
The question i am left with is can i update the radio rom (only as i dont want to loose my data ala hard reset) from just the sd card?
Thanks
Hi,
you need HardSPL or Goldcard to flash LEOIMG.nhb (renamed from RUU_signed.nbh) from SD Card.
with friendly greet
starbase64
Ive got Hardspl on the phone so im guessing a LEOIMG.nhb renamed RUU_signed radio rom would only flash the radio section?
I am fairly happy with the process, but i am just trying to confirm that ONLY the radio section would be flashed in this case and the rest of my phone setup would be safe!?
it still needs to be leoimg.nbh to work from sd card, no other file name will be recognized apart from that it should work fine from sd card
Copy LEOIMG.nhb to root of SD card. Turn phone off, hold sound lower button and turn phone on...
Just so im clear, is it case sensitive?
And i thought it was;
LEOIMG.NHB
is that the right extension or is it .nbh?
nbh and not case sensitive.
No, it doesnt case sensitive... LEOIMG.nhb or leoimg.nbh... It is indifferently
Strange i have renamed the RUU_signed file for the radio rom, reset and yet the HSPL installer doesnt come up. Im going to try another download, and if that doesnt work il format up a spare sd card and try it with nothing else on.
Re-downloaded the rom and it seems fine this time.
Here it goes, new radio rom!
Thanks for the help!
"the hspl installer"? what's that? do you mean the boot loader? you must activate that yourself.
phone off
hold volume down
tap power and release (keep holding vol)
Thanks all sorted, here comes 2.07.50.27!
This is to samsamuel
You have this in your "signature": PM me for hd2 goldcard
I need a goldcard very badly, can you help me?
Regards
Peter
i did everything on here and when the tricolor screen comes up nothing happens...what could it be?...changed the name of the nbh file and put it on root of card...reboot with vol down and tri color screens comes up and nothing happens....tried it with both radio roms and stock winmobile rom.....wut do you guys think?

i think you have an 8gb or bigger sd card?
Yes I have a class 6 16gb card..does it have 2 be less than that 2 work ?
Sent from my DL DesireZ v4.1 using XDA App
well, there are exceptions, but in general 16gb and 8gb mostly dont work,(mostly, flamers, no need to fill the thread with 'mine works,, so does mine,,, mine too,,how about yours?, , ', hehe) some 4gb work, 2gb or less great.
i just bout a sandisk 2gb card to flash with,....i put radio rom in the card....renamed it to leoimg.nbh.....reboot phone with vol down pressd....tricolor comes up..but still..nothing happens?....am i missing something here?
So it still doesn't work with a 2gb card....any other ideas?....thank u guys..
Sent from my DL DesireZ v4.1 using XDA App
2gb sandisk cards usually ship formatted to FAT you have to reformat it to FAT32 else bootloader wont see it. Full format, not quick format.
Format it to fat32....and hspl detected it perfectlie...now I'm running radio Rom 2.15.50.14.....alreadie noticed fewer dropped data.....thank u guys and thank u Samsamuel..

yes, the stock 16gb card doesnt work for flashing roms. use a smaller card.
When you try on the PC, what do you mean by the file cant be opened? you arent clicking teh .nbh file are you? you need to put it in a folder with customruu.exe, so there are just the two files, then run customruu.exe (right click and run as administrator)
i ditched the 16 gb card from the rip since it was only class 2 im using a class 6 8 gb card and when i have just the two files in a folder on my desktop and run the ruu it tells me it cant open the nbh file ???? im at a loss i dont know what else to do ?
for sd card, make sure it is formatted fat32, they sometimes arent. Also, there have been some (not loads but some) reports of teh same problem with 8gb as with 16gb.
as for the PC flash, download it again.
I've noticed if it's a problem with the card being too big it will usually show "loading" for a split second after going into bootloader. At least for me (with the stock 16gb and another 8gb card)

Help i cant remove hspl

Im sending my phone back to htc so I flashed back a standard rom. I thought this would remove hspl but it didnt now Im ****ting my pants. How do i get it off?
Did you flash stock rom via sd card? That is the only way that flashing a stock rom removes hspl. Otherwise the much simpler method is to rerun HSPL2 and select your original spl (ending in 0000) - assuming you can remember which spl you were on.
how do i flash the rom via sd?

Find nbh file of the rom you want, copy to root of sd card and rename it to LEOIMG.nbh, boot into bootloader and follow instructions. If it doesn't pick up the image, try reformatting sd card (preferably a small one ie 2gb) to FAT32 and retry.
Ive renamed the the file but bootloader does nothing, i only have a 16gb sd. I also put the whole rom on the card and selected it using file explorer and now the windows colour dots are just going around in a circle.
Did you copy just the .nbh file from the rom to your sd card and rename that and not the entire exe file? You also won't be able to flash via file explorer.
Seriously though if you can't flash via sd card (bigger sd cards don't alsways work - although my 16gb card does) just do the second and much easier option I gave you above, ie flash the rom via exe as you have done and then run HSPL2 and select your stock spl.
I cant do that cos now windows 7 wont install the bloody drivers lol. Im FUBAR'd
Be careful in your rom selection. This should ALWAYS be stressed when telling people how to do this. It's not simply a case of getting the one you want. You should always try to get the original rom your phone came with, or at a minimum one that the htc site recommends when you enter your country and phone serial. Flashing a bad rom via sd is pretty much the only way to brick your phone. This should not be forgotten or taken for granted.
That said, download the correct rom, rename to leoimg.nbh, stick it on the root of your sd card. Power off phone, insert sd card, hold volume down, press power.
(yeah I know clyde just typed the instructions, I just like them explained this way).

Have you double checked you card is Fat 32? I couldn't get a leoimg.nbh file recognised, until I found a similar post saying that it had to be Fat32. My card was in plain old fat...

Good point m8, I assumed that as he had already flashed the rom via exe that he had the right one. (I know that's a dangerous assumption given the level of some of the users on this site as some shouldn't be authorised to use anything more technical than a tv remote - no offence elgrego4 ). Noted and I will include that important statement in future advice given
I've just seen from your signatrure elgrego4 that your rom is listed as LEO70 (ie WP7). Did you reformat your sd card after using WP7?

Turn the phone off..Then turn it on while holding volume down. This will take you to the bootloader menu( rainbow color). Plug the phone unto your PC then flash the original ROM that you downloaded from HTC site.No need to sync..Hope this will help.
Hey man if you want to remove HSPL you can just run the HSPL program from your pc with your phone connected in bootloader. It's the same procedure as installing HSPL, but now you must select SPL 2.08.000 instead of HSPL 2.08 while running the program.
I did it this way while I had to send my phone back and had no problems with it =)
You can check your SPL version in Bootloader.
yes it was fat 32, ive borrowed a 2gig so i will try that next
Its flashing with the 2gb card so fingers and everything else crossed
Keep us posted pls. I'm thinking also to bring back because of pixel error on the screen.

Yes........
SPL-3.03.000 is on now. Thanks for the help guy Knowing my luck htc wont find a fault
Pleasure m8, good luck.
Was 3.03 your original spl? If so I guess you do know it's a mission to get back to flash hspl once you get your phone back. You will first have to downgrade your rom to get to a lower version spl and then run hspl.

[Q] cannot flash stock from sd card

there is something wrong with my usb plug on my htc hd2, it charge fine but it cannot reconize storage on computer. i run android now and would like to flash it back to stock.
have formatet the sd card and download the stock htc rom http://www.htc.com/dk/help/htc-hd2/#download
and put it over on the sd card and renamed it leoimg.nbh.
but when i go to bootloader (volume down) the white loadnníng screen appears for ½ sec. and then the coulored screen appears again... what am i doing wrong

You extracted first, right? You don't just rename the whole downloaded file, you extract ruu_signed.nbh from the rom and rename that.
yes exactly. I did a full format and then extract the diwnloaded file and renamed it to leoimg. And put it on the sd card
When you enter bootloader and it flashes grey just for a moment it usually means either a bad .nbh file, the flash of grey is bootloader finding tyw nbh and rejecting it for whatever reason. What did you format the card to? Needs to be fat32.
Okay, yes, i formatet to fat 32 and not a quick
I now have same problem as fischerben, when trying to update ROM from SD, grey flashes and disappears. Tried with 2 gb SD, formatted to fat32, tried with ROMs downloaded from different sites. Any other solutions of this problem?
EDIT: I tried with different ROM downloaded from official site(the only one without any O2 etc addons) and i get to "Loading..." but on SPL 3.03 i get "Not allowed" and on 2.08 i get stuck on "loading".
EDIT2: I made it. Tried with million different ROMs(both older and newer ones), until with one ROM i found PN limitation number. This one finally worked, with SPL 3.03 installed(i figured that its showing right message with "not allowed" and i should just search for the right ROM).
Cheers

[Q] Unable to reflash to stock ROM

Hi guys,
So recently my screen stopped working and I need to get it fixed. I want to revert the phone back to its stock ROM but I can't seem to do that. I downloaded the stock rom and followed this guide: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc89Gh0QpIY&feature=player_embedded
But, when I get into bootloader, in the white section of the screen it says Serial and it just stays unresponsive, it doesn't boot up like in the video. Any ideas on what's going on?
Did you rename the .nbh file to LEOIM.nbh? Also did you put thenfilenon the root(not in a folder) of your SD card? If you have done both of these then make a back up of you SD card and then reformat you SD card with a full format and not a quick format. Also the SD card method does not work well with larger SD cards so you may have to try a 2gig or 4gig SD card. Last you can use HSPL 4 to revert back to stock SPL just choose the SPL version from the drop down box when you run the installer, here is a hint the SPL's with four zeros at the end are stock SPL's.
Thanks for the reply
So, I tried reformating my 16 gb SD and still have the same problem. I then tried to do it with a 4 GB SD, same thing. So I tried it with HSPL but I can't sync the phone to my PC since it's in storage mode and with the touchscreen broken I can't adjust it to sync. I'm not taking the phone to a verified dealer so they probably won't care that it's flashed. The problem, from what I understand is that the digitizer is broken, so it shouldn't matter that the phone is flashed, right?
Thanks
You can connect it to the PC for flashing without Windows Mobile through the bootloader (3-colour screen). Just turn that on and connect it; Serial should change into USB and you are ready to flash.
About SD card method: Make sure the nbh file is named LEOIMG.nbh. The letters MUST be uppercase, else it might not work.
