battery life - Legend General

Hei all of you
It seems that the legend has been released to some people, and i was wondering what you guys get out of the battery.
I am currently on a Diamond 2, with 1100 Mha battery, and currently get 1½ day out of this, and i want this to be an improvement. The legend, with 1300Mha, OLED screen and newer cpu, sounds like it will be a lot better, but some review mentions the battery life to be really bad.
I am using my phone for 20 text messages, psuh mail, no phone calls and only visit a few websites on 3G. No bluetooth, wifi or GPS. What can i expect of this?

i'm sorry if my English is not good enough,
but i've the HTC legend since Friday, and Saturday i did a simple test, i put the mobile phone to charge Friday night, Saturday about 12:00 pm i disconnected the charger and i've turned the wi-fi, gps,and bluetolth off, only the 3G network was on.
I had also ebuddy running on the background, after 4 hours i didn't touched the phone, and my battery was about the 25%
And the full charge time was almost 2 hours.... i went back to the shop where i bought the phone, they changed my battery and the did a hard reset.
The battery performance is now a little bit better, but it has not the same performance as the iphone 3gs.

I think the first time you run your phone it will consume the most power. So it's not the right time to test. I suggest you fully charge and fully consume the battery 2-3 times and then put it for a test.

Full capacity of a battery shows up after 2 months.
You will pass from 1 day to 3 days

So here is one short statistic after second charging.
14% of energy left in the battery after:
39 hours since last charging
2 hours of display on (35% of energy)
37 hours of phone connected to the cell (36% of energy)
13 minutes of calls (13% of energy)
Phone used for me "as normal" - cca. 10 SMS, 2 hours of mp3 and FM radio, one hour of net surfing, running sync with Gmail and Google Calendar.

Yes, it is period of 1-3 months to get full capacity of the battery, but in first few usage, you can fully charge and discharge battery.
I have a one day of full usage of the phone (wifi always on, twitter, e-mails, calls etc.)

Getting better
It's getting slowly better with each charging, second week and I'm on two days. Everyone is using it in a different manner, but my battery improved for about a 70%.

got the legend now for 2 weeks and loving it.
Battery life is good, don't expect to go 2 days intensive use without recharge but no phone with these function have this.
I can easily go with one to two day with occasional wifi, gps use and keep 3g or sync on settled on 1 hour intervals while playing some games using apps etc
Blue tooth i haven;t tried but like any phone the power munchers are wifi, blue tooth gps and 3g.

wifi should save lots of power compared to network operator connection
i use wifi at office, and with extensive usage, i can get about 8 hours straight, that is pretty heavy, the screen barely got to sleep

I have tested the battery in plain sleep.
If the device has wifi off and mobile data off (and no sync, ofcourse) i guess it lasts for a week - 10 days. But then you cant use wifi or mobile data.
If you only let it be in stand-by (screen locked and off, no data or wifi or gps or bt) it last quite long, probably close to the stated 300-400 hours in the manual.
In real life that translates to 3-5% battery drain (tested by me for 24h, only sent 2 sms and talked on phone for 2 minutes) per day.
But in normal use, wifi will drain 5-10% battery per hour and 3g/gprs with autosync drains 2-5% per hour depending on net.
No device lasts for more then a day or two if you acctualy use the device.

I have had my Legend for a week and a half now and the battery life is also getting better with each passing day. I can easily use it for a day and a half with quite a lot of WiFi browsing, and up to 30 or 40 minutes of call time. I'm really loving this phone!

Hi fellow Legenders,
i've had the phone for 4 days now. i am having issues with my battery. I have noted some points that i'll share & hopefully find a resolution for my dismal batt life. I have bluettoh on all the time, but it shows very little drain based on BT alone. Other than that, this phone ROCKS!
After full 8hr charge, the phone lasted approx. 13hrs 38mins before reaching critical level with the following findings:
On 08 April 2010
1. Voice calls used 50% batt – 36mins 11s call time.
2. Display on approx. 30% brightness used 21% batt – on for 1hr 10mins 15s
3. Cell standby on 3G used 16% batt – on for 13hrs 38mins (no signal 1%)
4. Phone idle used 8% - on for 12hrs 28mins
5. Bluetooth used 5% - on for 13hrs 28mins
After normal charge till batt 100% (about 3hrs), the phone lasted 15hrs 12mins 41s before reaching critical level
On 9th April 2010
1. Cell standby on 2G used 50% - on for 15hrs 12mins 41s (no signal 3%)
2. Display on aprrox 30% brightness used 18% - on for 29mins 35s
3. Phone idle used 15% batt – on for 14hrs 43mins 5s
4. Voice calls used 10% batt – on for 4mins 14s
5. Bluetooth used 7% - on for 15hrs 12mins 41s
Looking forward to better batt life as the days go by.
cheers,
Su

Very poor battery life for me.It has 7-8 hours stand-by.
1.Every 5 mins e-mail control.
2.Weather with auto update.
3.Friend stream.
4.Background data and auto sync.
5.Enable always-on mobile data
6.3G
I don't understand whats going on.If i left device when i go sleep with full battery after 7-8 hours i look it.It shows me only left %35 battery.
After disable all auto-uptade and 3g its over 1 days.
My hd2 had 1230 mah battery and super big screen and 1ghz processor. It was using %10 with same usage.
Legend has 1300 mah battery and small screen and 600 mhz processor. It uses %65.
Can anyone explain this sucks status?

I m using the legend... and a hd2 as my other device. would say the battery life for the legend is really dismal...

I am happy to report that my phone batt life has improved tremendously since my last charge. I installed OS monitor & checked to see what might be hogging the batt, & discovered some program was keeping my CPU running inthe high 70's & above continuously. I killed that program, fully charged my phone till 100%, restarted the phone for good measure, & with BT on permanently, more than an hour of wifi usage, about half an hour of phone calls & about 30 smses, after 24hrs, i still had about 24% batt left.
So it has definitely improved by leaps. Hope that helps others who have similar problems.
cheers,
Su

it will be good if you can share what's causing the high cpu usage ...

Oh sorry i forgot. it was OpenWatch for BT watches. It has a problem currently with HTC Legend & SE MBW-150. It doesn't have the full functionality as yet for some reason. The reason it ran the CPU load up, was because i had turned off my watch by accident & set the program to search & connect to the watch. My folly really.
cheers,
Su

After three weeks of use:
10h 52m since unplugged - still at 50% of battery
- Display: 49%. Time on: 1h 46m. Auto-brightness, mostly indoor
- Voice calls: 31%. Time on: 22m 53s
- Cell standby: 12%. Time on: 10h 52m
- Phone idle: 6%. Time on: 9h 6m
- Maps: 2%. (played with maps for a couple of minutes)
Gmail/Contacts/Calendar/Weather sync is on
GPS on (almost didn't use it)
WiFi off
Mostly in area with good 3G coverage.
Actual usage:
- Phone calls
- Some internet browsing
- Some chatting via Google Talk

Nice battery time
I've bought and charged my phone last Thursday. GSM only, using WIFI every day for 15-20 minutes, 10-15 min talk, and it's still at 35-40% after 5 days. I've got a magic battery or what?

How long does YOUR battery last...?!

Now, I know that it depends on what programs are running, like... whether you have any minimized or in the background, but on an average 1500 mAh/3.7V battery... what is the amount of use time that one can expect...?
Let's start a thread on this subject... listing the type of battery, approximate age of same, the names of the files/programs you run & use in a given day, and the amount of hours of overall use you get before you have to recharge or switch it over to a new/fresh battery. This way, we'll all have a better idea as to what programs really drain the phones, such as when you leave the WiFi and/or Bluetooth "on" all the time - waiting to be used (a sure guarantee to have a dead battery in a matter of hours).
We can subtitle this one under "The Cost of Staying Connected" (not including air-time charges or monthly fees).
i think my battery life is terrible... but its understandable. usually i run wifi and phone all day long.. the only reason i run wifi on all the time is because i have a feeling everytime i don't... somehow i get charged for using evdo (from bell in canada)... but i dont?? its really weird because i used to always get these random charges.. but ever since i kept my wifi on all day everything is all good. i have the original battery that came with my ppc 6700.. and i use the phone around 40-70 minutes of talk time. no real apps running but a few games of solitaire here and there. but if i were to talk non stop it only seems to last like 1hr
my battery life is like 10 hours and i always have to charge it when i get home from work or school or ill be doomed the next day
Since upgrading to WM6 (thanks helmi), my battery life has found NEW life. I used to have to charge it everyday: no wifi, 50% brightness, screen off in < 1min, etc. Since upgrading, I can run it at 100% brightness, screen off in 2min, and I don't have to charge it every day.
This is with the factory battery, and an eBay replacement sometimes used.
always running: freestyl (flashlite), sms threader, mbutton
phone is usually locked with s2u2
most use it usually gets is me checking the time
update rom from verizon, .net 3.5
ever since i updated the rom, it seems like i only get <24 hours per full charge (battery purchased less than a month ago)
w/o wifi or bt i get about 3 days however it depends on what version of windows are you running have you guys updated to the new 6.1 or 6.5 biulds?
My battery life its very short but, i use my apache with core play at my car with my kids plus the wifi, and blue with hand free, soo i've to conected every day, and i'm use 2batterys
original battery... i got 3 days on standby.. and 2 days in normal call usage...
but
with wifi my battery gets drained to the bone in 40 minutes LOL
thats all =D
About twenty minutes. I know I need a new battery >_>
... that and that I'm surprised I've got over 240 hours clocked in the lifetime call timer.
Using a 2600mAh 3.7v Battery
I had my extended battery for about 2 months now.....
TCPMP:Battery life is close to 5 hours on the lowest brightness level using headphones & on speaker mode I get about 3 1/2 hours.
Making Calls: I sometimes spend about 2 to 3 hours on the phone & that leaves the battery to about 70% or 60%.
Wifi: I don't use it for a very long time, but when I do it could be about 1 hour and that can leave my battery to about 80% to 70% when done.
Videogames: I use mainly the Morpheus(emu) usually about 20 to 30 mins and only seems to leave it close to 90%..
With random use I normally have to charge the battery every 2 or 3 days... I play with the phone quite a bit tho! Mostly text messaging (turning it on & off about 20 to 30 times daily).
With my 2 normal batteries? I think they need to be discarded soon lol!!!!!!! Wifi will deplete them(each) in about 4 or 5 mins tops!!! TCPMP about 10mins(screen on at its lowest with speaker) & 15 mins max(with headphones & screen at its lowest brightness)... Phone Calls? about 20mins tops(with the screen turned off)!!!!
So.... I strongly recommend the extended battery on Ebay for about $22(shipping included) so that you can enjoy the phone alot more!!!
I try not to keep the phone on the charger until the battery has depleted to about 20% when the warning comes on and fully charge it always!

Battery Life??

Hi Guys! and Gals..
Wondering hows your battery life?? Can you make it through a day Ok? I have a touch pro on Sprint and battery life stinks in the worse way.
Last time I checked, it went 13hrs until 31%.
I usually use it for around 90minutes continously reading or web browsing during my commute. There is also 4-5hrs (or more daily) during which I only get 1-2bars of receptions, so it drains battery faster. There was probably also a 30-40minute phone call using bluetooth.
I can go an 10-12 hour day with light use:
45 mins of phone and text (no bluetooth)
20 mins phone (bluetooth)
30 mins misc.
30 mins games.
20 texts.
Data on about 8 hours without Wifi and 4 on (N enabled)
1 hour browsing, emails etc.
30 mins with Microsoft Reader.
Probably a little more.
Also syncing a lot with calendars.
Not bad, but I feel like it could be better.
t-mobile usa.
I have 75% by end of the day
Adjust your PEAK TIMES for ActiveSync, that way your device isn't consistently trying to allocate resources to collect data such as emails.
Screen brightness, system volume, hibernating times, etc.
ALL OF THOSE are key factors in how quickly your battery will be drained. Anything involving the on-screen display is what will quickly deplete available battery life on a single charge. That may seem very "cliche" to say, but the fact is, this device has a 4.3-inch screen, so it's a power hog.
For today, it's been 17.5hrs since I unplugged and the phone has been mostly sitting except for a few occasional brief checks of the phone, 30minute email syncs, and a 15 minute phone call. It's at 40% battery after the 17.5hrs.
It did drop around 20% in the first 6hrs since the phone was in an area of horrible 0-1 bar reception. The rest of the time has been 2-3 bar reception.
17.5 hours @ 40%... are you serious?
My TMOUS HD2 has never gone more than 8 hours on a full battery charge. This is with "normal" usage. Regular email checks, activesync with direct push.
Comming from the Blackberry Bold II with 13-15 hours of battery under normal usage patters, the HD2 is VERY WEAK!!!.
I'm contemplating sacraficing the sleak look of the phone for the extended battery.
Anyone have the ex battery? How's your battery life?

If you need direct push in your life, then I suggest changing 3G to EDGE network.
Difference is quite noticeable.
It sucks, and if you want better battery life don't use it.I returned mine after 48hrs.
All the advice is great,but....
-If I have go from 3G to EDGE.
-Lower the brightness almost to the minimum.
-Set activesync up.....What is the point of having so much technology? if I can not use because the phone dies.
I need real time email and 3G to work, plus all the stupid menus that windows mobile still has made me change my mind.Microsoft has been in the market for a bunch of years and winmo still sucks.
Do not get to impressed with the HD and the movies, cause the thing dies in no time.
Don't buy it and stick with android.
I end the day with about 60% battery life left with mild-medium usage. A few phone calls, some maps/gps, active sync every 4 hours, facebook every 2 hours, weather every 3 hours.
VERY happy with battery life on this phone
i went all day yesterday (my first day with it) so i used it alot, took it of the charger, at 7:30am, and plugged it in last night at 10:00 and it was at 39%. that was BEFORE i turned off 3g(i dont get 3g in my area) so this hd2 blows the iphone battery out of the water....IMHO
my last device was blackberry 8900.
that thing lasted 3 days with moderate use. compared to that, 15 hour limit does suck, and there are times I don't want to use the phone to conserve the battery, which makes rage, but oh well. now I always carry an extra battery in my pocket, so that's a bit better. but that doesn't make it okay.
with the 3g off, wifi off, auto back light, running the energy rom apr 9. unplug on 9 am use about 100 sms and 10 minutes phone call with all the auto data off, just manual check weather and email twice still have 80% after 3pm.
turn off voice commends - this will help
Its getting better
I have recently done a few things to help the battery. I adjusted the the screen brightness to a comperable setting that a friend of mine has his set to on his iphone3gs I did not do anything to the 3g settings or anything like that. I set me email to sync every 4 hours. But my hotmail I just click send/receive and sync it myself. I play music all day on my phone. Check twitter internet facebooks while music is playing and a lot of texting over a hundred sent and recieved daily. Before I made a few tweeks it would kinda die quickly but now it appears to be a lot better.
My batter DOES NOT LAST FOR CRAP!!!!! I took it off charge at 8:13 and at 10:30 i checked my phone, it went from 100 percent to 81 percent. HOW DOES IT GO DOWN 19 percent in 2 hours when i didnt even USE the phone, i just hit the backlight to check the time, this battery is unacceptable everytime i check the phone the percent has dropped

Do you leave 3G turned on? Do you have your e-mail and/or weather checking themselves automatically?
The phone can certainly be doing things that consume the battery, even if you're not manually handling it at the time.
I don't understand why battery life seems to differ so much from phone to phone. My battery life is excellent and I use it a lot. I do have to charge it every night but I expect that from a smartphone. It always lasts me throughout the day with music, videos, calls, texts and web use on 3g. I couldn't be happier with the battery life of my phone.
PLEASE give me good tips how to save battery? BTW im using ENERGY's latest rom with cookie 1.7. i dont understand why i have to stop my email and turn off 3g when this phone is MEANT for these features. theres no point of a having an excellant phone when you cant use its features to its full potentiol without having it die within 10 hours( with moderate use)
Battery is weird
The other day i charged my hd2 fully then got on an airplane all connections were watch from paris with love which looks great on the phone landed after an hour and a half and my battery life was down to 15 percent i think i might have a bad battery when i am in the car i leave it on the charge and when i am in the hotels that i stay in it stays on the charge or plugged into my laptop and thoughts??

Battery w exchange on

Hi all,
Just switched from xperia x1 winmo to galaxy.
I love my exchange and cant miss it.
So I set it up on the galaxy. Left it in good hsdpa coverage area over night for 8 hours after fully charging it. Battery now at 76%.
This is not so good... My xperia was significantly less consuming.
Moreover, sometimes push is sluggy. Some maols from this night only appeared after opening mail app.
I am quite disappointed...
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
now it is 6h30 since 100% charge
Battery down to 33%
Android reports:
Display 36%
Battery in Standy 23%
Android OS 16%
Phone in Standby 15%
Android System 5%
Task Killer 4%
Maybe 5 mails arrived, opened mail app 3 times and 3-5 opened for very few minutes.
Had the phone in bad reception area (1-2 bars) most of the time.
Still, this is really bad!
If you do a search, you will find many posts advising that the full potential of the battery will not be available until at least 5 complete cycles.
This means battery fully charged, then run to fully empty, then fully charger again, equals one cycle.

this is bloody strange, I was thinking the more the battery gets heated up it looses it's lifetime!!!

well, better now, but my old Xperia X1 still beats the **** out of the Galaxy in terms of battery & MS Exchange Sync reliability...
Samsung: 2 days only under optimal reception conditions
Xperia: 3 days any which way
new test from last night:
charged to 100%, clean reboot, exchange sync on
7 hours
=> -15% battery
I conclude
The SGS does not survive one working day.
Recharging twice a day is not acceptable!
I activated the push today so I will see how long it last
For the moment I am at 81% of battery and it has been unplugged for a little bit more than 3 hours
I watched also 20mn of french news so 57% of battery used by display
I think it could last the day if I don;t do anything to stressful
there is a very specific way to charge this battery right out the box to optimize its full potential ASAP
so you turn on the phone for the very first time and use it on whatever battery power thats left. then use it to the point which it shuts down itself. now turn the phone back on again, and plug in the charger, keep using the phone but with the charger still plugged in. when the battery meter indicates "FULL". unplug the charger. and repeat these procedures twice.

It's been now 9hours and I still have 43% of battery.
42% of display (2h11)
19% call (10mn)
Android system ( including sync) 15%
...
So for sure it won't last more than 1 day but you should be able to last 1 full business day
I even switch on the bluetooth to send some mp3 to my wife ( it failed ... she had my old iphone and I forgot it wasn't possible ), the gps for few min ...
I am also listening music for around 2-3 hours
EDIT : by the way, I was in front of my laptop and half of the time the mail arrived before on my phone and I got all my mails
still got the JF3 ROM, but heard that newer ROMs may have trouble with Exchange.
Email works ok for me, but appointments sometimes take tooo long to sync.
My office is well-shielded (lots of steel), so only got 1-3 bars, sometimes switching HSDPA and EDGE.
However, my previous phone had to endure the same.
7h18m since unplugged, battery at 74% still remaining.
Display: 49%
Cell Standby: 24%
Phone idle: 17%
Android System: 4%
- Exchange sync is on.
- 2x Google account, email, contact and calendar sync is on.
- Updated 4 apps from market.
- Display on for a bit more than 35 minutes in total since unplugged.
- Twitter and facebook sync is on. Refresh every 15 minutes.
- Weather service refresh every 2 hours.
I've still only once not had the phone last a full day on one charge, and I use it quite heavily. Playing games, taking pictures, reading feeds etc.
I don't know what you call heavily but after 15h my battery is a 7%
I have 3h of display which takes already 38% of the battery
35mn in more than 7h is not what I would call heavy ... especially if you read, play games, take picture ... unless you do so with the screen switch off
now for the OP I guess this bad reception can explain the ewak battery but not the difference with the previous phone .... Just mean that the battery was better on the previous one
the SGS is useless.
My Xperia could do email & exchange sync better and browse some web pages.
The SGS has trouble with exchange (tasks!) and COULD do browsing and apps better. But if you actually start using it and looking at the superb screen, the battery runs empty quickly.
So what is the point in having this device? Honestly, this is quite frustrating.
[Update]
9h20
100%->81%
radio: 74% (why does it translate to "Akku" in German?)
Telephone: 23%
Email: 2%
one email came in during that time
I just read of a guy on another forum who got 8 1/2 days out of one charge!!!!!
I'm getting about two days, had the phone three weeks and the battery has improved, at first I was loosing 30% in only a few hours. I initially starting turning off email, then once-per-hour to save battery, but now after a few charges I can leave both Gmail, gTasks, Exchange on push sync and a few widgets which update at regular intervals... I still get two days of average usage. Not like my old Nokia, but then again the Nokia was nothing like the SGS
Note, I do have a profile which turns off autosync between 23:00 and 06:00, and I use autokiller, but apart from that it all stock.
now at another place with full bars most of the time:
11h40 since charging
50 minutes telephone call
=> 48%
69% goes to calling
22% radio standby
...
mails came in with 2-3 minute delay ... sometimes its rather instant ... well, WiMo and blackberry can do better

unfortunately, this is what major/ popular finger touch screen device deliver, be it Apple iPhone, HTC, and SGS.
I'm surprise to know Experia can last that long, is that the Winmo version that that uses stylus? the pressure-base (or rather stylus based) touch screen have a very long battery life.
PS: I have around 100 mails in 8 hrs, and my phone need a charge during lunch in order for it to support me until night.

I was told that Blackberry Storm and Storm II have the same battery performance like iPhone and SGS.
WinMo 6.5 is using stylus based. I curious how long can WinMo 7 battery life last with that finger-touch based screen.
I don't see how resistive screens vs multitouch screens matter in this case.
Looking at the energy info, radio in standby seems to consume a lot. And also phone in standby. The phone's screen is on for very few minutes, just to quickly read some mail. Most of the time screen is off and push mail service is active in the background.
Besides, Samsung talked about OLED and SOLED as SAVING energy ...
Well, maybe it is just the OS.
I think WiMo 6.5 is just a better OS. I wonder what the HD2 is like.
To bad the original WiMo 7 has been canceled. This touch & fun cellphone trend is horrible!

Battery drains as fast as hell

My battety lost One percent in one till ten minutes. I alrrady tried to delete the batterystats but it doesnt help. Any suggestions?
Were you doing anything on the phone, when it droppped 1% in 1 to 10 minutes?
regards
Nope. Even in offline mode it drops that fast.
You tried restarting the phone? I'd prolly try a factory reset after that if nothing changes. Other than that I have no ideas.
Regards
I tried restarting, different firmwares, flashing back to stock rom with nandroid. Nothing helped...
How old is the device, and how many times did you charge it 'till now?
I'm on my 4th day since last charge, and standing at 43%.
In anthing battery related, this phone is god.
Hey hi,
I know is frustrating.. but I think we can fix it ..
First we have to figure out what is taking the charge on your batteries.
First check if wifi or bluetooth is turned on. If yes turn it off.
Bring down the brightness of your screen
go to WIFI Settings and turn off the network notification
install Advanced task manager from Market and see the background application. Some might be running as default. But kill all for safer side.
When ever you open an application it stays on the memory u have to kill it using that tool.
OR
IF nothing worked jump into an other firm ware update. I have this android 2.2 i9000xxjp3 Its working very smooth But its an beta version. I am quit fine with that ..
I already did this. And nothing helped.

Autokiller does not have any effect. I uninstalled all task managing sh*** and I can't find any significant difference.
However, I found after 5 charging cycles it was better than before (now 2/3 day instead of 1/2 day).
okay that's nice 2 know
I got eleven hours... Will see if ut gets better after some cycles. But i rly think its a battery or phone defect.
Hi i just did a battery test on 10 mins of wifi browsing battery drop from 65 and now 60 with 45 pages. Can someone do a similiar test to compare cause i think mine also a flaw set from samsung thnx in advance
How old is your SIM Card?
I know some old cards can drain battery hardly cause there is no power saving implementet, newer have better power management.
Maybe the card is defective. If you can, make a test with adiffetent SIM Card.
Send from my GT-I9000 (I9000XXJF3) using XDA App
The other day, My battery was pretty low, less than 10%. I checked battery usage, and everything was okay. But I made 10 mins of call, and that used 23% of the battery, and that's from a full charge ;
EDIT: current usage stats, from a 100% charge to 31% battery left.
13h 36m since unplugged
Display 31%
Cell standby 20%
Phone idle 14%
Maps 12%
Android System 7%
Voice calls 4% - Time on is 1m 32s. 70/100 = 0.7. 0.7*4 = 2.8%. 1m 32s = 92s. 2.8/92 = 0.0304... *60 = 1.826
So, 1.826% of the battery is used for each minute of voice calls, which means a full charge would last for around 55 mins of talk time. WTF
EDIT 2: I'm using stock European ROM, XXJF3(?)
Do you guys have power saving enabled on the LCD?
I too experienced similar problems with my battery, a single charge did not last more than 17 hours tops. However, since last charge now I have had it running for almost 48h. So what changed?
- I moved to a better coverage area for 3g, but having only 2g on didn't make a difference.
- I disabled powersaving on the LCD
- I uninstalled the widget "Weather from yr"
- I did a full depletion + charge with the phone OFF
After doing this my battery improved tenfold. While I before when checking "Battery History" in *#*#4636#*#* secret menu I had about 80% Running time. THis is now down to 18%. There was nothing before or now in partial wake, which led me to believe that my phone was actually never quite asleep.
So, try what I did, and see if that fixes your problem, it did that for me!
I'll try it. Yes, i rly have a very old sim card. I think i get a new one when my contract renews on a other carrier. Maybe it helps. Thanks fou your help guys.
1 percent in 10 minutes means absolutely nothing. Does your battery fall from 100 to 0 in 16 hours after doing NOTHING on the phone? (equivalent of 1 percent every 10 minutes.) Try this a few times. Check what's using the battery the most. Remember that with any smartphone on the market right now, the more you use the display, the considerably less battery time you will have; so 16 hours on one charge is completely normal if, say, you have 2 hour display on time throughout the day. it's not realistic to expect any better, and don't believe people who say they can go a full 2 days with moderate/heavy use - this really isn't possible unless you have turned off literally everything, in which case it stops being heavy use.

Last time I was checking I had 34 hrs and 11% used for standby. Then I used GPS with screen on full brightness, had it set to WCDMA only with very bad coverage, was taking images and filming, watching video and surfing. I had no taskkiller or juice defender.
I easily get 48 hrs with a bit more moderate use.

Maybe you could enlighten us what your settings are.
My phone lasts no longer than 16 hours. But I also have Wifi, GPS, Bluetooth and Push Mail enabled most of the time and always 3G enabled (because otherwise I would have no use for a smartphone really).

Well, you have the same phone, they both have the same battery, they are both relatively new. If we put the phones side by side and did the same things on them are you really saying your phone lasts for twice as long as mine? REALLY? I'm sorry but through a day of what I would call "moderate" use, battery is uncomfortably low after at most 24-28 full hours (down to around 5%) and this seems to be the case with not just most galaxy S owners but pretty much every smartphone owner - it's very difficult to get the battery to last longer than 24 hours with "moderate" use.
What's your display use time at the end of those 48 hours you have the phone running for?

Battery charge too short?

Hello, Im noticing that the battery charge is too short.
I disconnected it from the computer (battery at 100%) at 23:00. Inmediately put it on fly mode (all services disconnected, low battery consumption). When I wake up at 9 o'clock, the battery was like 60% (and disconnected fly mode). Now, at 11, the battery is like 40%...
Yay, I usually charge it every night... I don't want to charge it twice/day.
I don't know if trophy have now battery problems or is just wp7.
Anyone with the same problem?
If you just got your phone, I think the battery was not run in yet. I have the same problem for the first 3 charge. Now battery life is slightly better than my old omnia 2 which last me 12-14 hours as I am a heavy user.
It have like 15 charges. It usually takes longer to uncharge, but not today, I will test it more days.
Thanks for you reply.
Sounds like there could be something wrong with it. Mine is a lot better than the HD2. I'm not a heavy user, but I get like an hour of music/radio on the way to work, then a few calls and SMSs during the day, an hour of music/radio on the way home - and it's still on like 70% when I set it to charge before bed time.
Update: seems location services cut the battery life in half. MS needs to do something about it to make it more efficient.
battery ??
How can i check how many % of my battery left
I've charged my Trophy about 4 times and the last time i overcharged just like in formating a battery ( i know the bqattery in Trophy doesn't require it but I can't hurt can it??).
The last time I charged it was on the new years eve just before midnight between 22-23. Now the battery has been showing the "critical battery mode" thingy for about two hours. I admit that I am not a heavy user however per day I make couple of phone calls, I make a few SMS and use the 3G mobile network/ WiFi(if available) to check internet write a mail, Facebook etc. and about 30 minutes / per day of music...( need to say that I don;t use the standard phones which came out of the box but Seenheiser 515HD model )
I have set the 3G and mobile data etc off, the brightness level to automatic, set the theme to dark etc. to save the battery as much as I can.
