launcher2 kind of working on rooted 2.1 - Droid Eris Android Development

With the rooted 2.1 and needed lib files this does launch. I have only my phone for a few days su I can't play anymore. It does work. App drawer is crazy though

Could you post the files you used? I tried earlier and couldn't get it running.

It's honestly not really usable now. If you Google librs.so and librs_jni.so. sorry driving too hard to post links

Just posted in the hero CDMA section. Works on my hero. Will try on my friends ERIS 2.1 rooted now
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=647752

I've got it working pretty good with a launcher I found somewhere working on making live wallpapers work. But its something about OpenGL es lite and... Well I gotta read more to get it. When I do ill let everyone know. If you get launcher2 working be sure to get advanced task manager free and go kill the sense and home processes to make things run smooth

Could you post some screenshots

sure thing
here i can't get the posted in here for some reason..
oh and you can't really tell by the pictures but live wallpapers is working...most of the ones that come with it won't load properly due to openGL es lite not being supported....trying to figure out what that's all about...but i got substrate from the market and it works fine

HTC Apps on CM6

I've had some problems getting HTC apps working in cm6 latest nightly.
I get my apks from DC froyo.
First I tried an easy install which failed.
Then I moved it to the system/app folder and chmod and chowned to make sure the permissions and owners were the same as stock.
Right now the HTC internet browser opens but force closes.
How can I get it working?
Aren't the HTC apps tied to the Sense framework? If so, I don't think it'll be possible to get them working on a non-sense ROM.
I could be completely wrong.

No you are not completely wrong. You are completely correct. Sense is deeply integrated into Android. It's not like there are just some added libraries. The source code that compiles into the framework.jar and framework-res.apk, etc are directly modified by HTC. This means Sense is no mere skin. It is a complete integration into Android. Regardless, without this framework HTC apps will only run on Sense phones. Some can be ported over but it's a difficult process so most likely the apps you want will not be ported over. Out of curiosity though, which apps are you trying to use on CM6?
If you want Sense, go back to Sense.

Use DC.
Can't use HTC apps without Sense. Please check the FAQ in the future.
if you provide the applications you're trying to run, perhaps alternatives can be suggested for you.
I personally like the HTC Tip Calulator widget....
and the HTC Notes....
But you can't use them on adw.
I don't want an app shortcut, I want a widget.
I prefer AOSP thankyou very much.
I just like the option of having some apps that I got used to.
HTC_ime for example. The keyboard.
Even though I use swype.
The camera app which pwns the stock.
Got flashlight and car panel working.
FM radio and weather would be nice too.
There were some nice Widgets but the only one I miss is the clock.
Any porting tips?

i liked the HTC keyboard as well. I'm assuming that you did your due diligence and found this did not work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=7429254#post7429254
4G and FM Radio is not working in CM6 yet.
this is listed in the CM6 OP.
i'm not sure what HTC browser your talking about. perhaps try installing Dolphin HD browser.
last nights CM6 build incorporated a new camera app and deathray (er...Flashlight app w/ widget). just get the nightly build and flash over what you have...i wipe 'cache' and 'dalvik cache' ...you loose no settings.
i use 'MyWeather' but then, i don't care for weather widgets. have you even looked on the android market for this? maybe try browsing from a computer on a site like www.appbrain.com
i use digital clock widget to provide my time date...many folks praise Beautiful Widgets.
here is a post that may be of use..

tips...
- everyone once in a while...copy a nand backup onto your pc (ie: what if you SD card gets lost or borked?)
- read the entire forum for the ROM you're playing with
- use the search function liberally. (both on xda and google)

Thanks for your post, but.
This isn't about anything specific, i simply want to know how to get apps ported, without the java source.
That said, I AM using dolphin, but I prefer the copy-paste that I can only find with HTC sense, I was hoping the browser on stock sense would help.
I've come across that thread, and use Swype without much issue, but having no trackball () makes me wish I had some arrow keys.. Not available in that thread.
Since my OP I have customized ADW and i'm quite pleased with it overall.
Now I just want to be able to use any app I wish. Regardless of alternatives!
Beautiful widgets is good, but has no analog clocks last I checked.
I do use it either way, but again, this isn't about anything specific.
I want to unlock apk's so they work anywhere. Any rom. Not just with HTC apps, but even the touchwiz apps!
Don't care about 4G, and i know that there are bugs being worked out with CM6 but i'm following it closely. On the 8/11 nightly build right now.
Finally, I read too much. I know a lot more than I put on..
Been "playing" with android roms since Dream (especially CM).
The problem which I have won't be solved by simply looking around for a version of the APK that works.
I want to know how they are being ported/unlocked .
If you can help, then thankyou very much!
Otherwise, I don't need your irrelevant tips. (No offense intended)

Nice, I'll try this. Downloading now. Thanks for the heads up.
Yea I'm running it now...thinking of some tweaks needed for memory and style on the widgets but other than that running like silk.

Did you have to rename the file to install?
EDIT: nm, didn't read.
Phone icon on launcher does NOT work
I was just gonna say that. Dialer shortcut not working.
I can't log on to FB from the widget. But so far I like it. Looking good.
looks good... Thanks.
wow looks nice i may try this in a few days still thinking about going obsidian so this may be my launcher of choice for the new build
Yea dialer is broken but ill see what I can come up with...at work now ill see what I can fix after I get home and get the kids in bed...haven't had time to look at it too much yet

I tried it yesterday and it was a pretty cool concept. You are right about needing some tweaking though. It would be awesome if this could take the place of Touchwiz in a 2.2 ROM. I might have to get out the good old Rom Chef handbook...
The launcher needs to look different imo, everything else looks good. I like how swiping up brings up the tray that's pretty slick. I'd be happy with the stock TW launcher look to be honest.
has anybody found a work around for the Phone button?
I when into Super Task Manager and I see the Phone.apk, because on the original Thread said to rename it to that in case it didn't work but it is already Phone.apk.
Phone Button is like Froyo launcher2.
You will need to smali it & edit to according.

yes sir.
Just got home and kids refuse to sleep atm...yea a simple rename is all it is calling for a simple rename of the phone.apk should fix the issue I just haven't torn apart the launcher apk yet so I'm unsure of the name if the kids crash out soon I can start the digging...lol...gotta love kids...they are like living with full time drunks....you never know what they are going to do next or where they hid you power supply for the laptop at...

Just digging into it myself - 614,165,225 files in there - any hints where it is in there?
Edit - Are there apps or system files that rely on "Phone.apk"? Will it be easier to change the name that dell looks for rather than changing the name of the apk?
Edit 2 - No luck here...
Been digging threw lines of code in the launcher looking for all the files and apks it calls for might be a day or so before I have this fixed...back to 18 hour days at work do this will have to be spare time project...

Running this now. Phone icon works. All widgets besides music, which gets immediate force close when trying and facebook not login are working. Pretty smooth. Im getting some force close on miuui music player, could be unrelated. Fairly useable on my superfast vibrant, froyo of course : )
p.s. Ill try to dial this in some more.

Google Earth: 2.1 ROMS (Syndicate/Epic Experience/Baked Snack, etc)

Hi,
I'm at the end of my patience here. I've had all 3 of these roms installed, and they all work great, except that google earth NEVER shows up in the market. I found a google_earth.apk, and Installed it from ES File Manager, and it works except when I try to clear the cache, or change any of the layers. And on the first attempt it crashes but 2nd or more, it will work if no settings are changed. I've already tried to fix permissions in clockwork but to no avail. Any suggestions?
From what I've read by searching Google, I think Google actually removed this from the market for some reason.
EDIT: Either that or they've changed it to 2.2 and above only. Haven't used 2.2 yet so I'm not sure if its there or not.
well then I guess I should be happy with what works??? lol! But if anyone wants the file, here it is. See what you can do with it.

I'm on the 2.2 Beta and its in the market for me. so if you really can't locate it in the market then i would assume you are right in that its only for froyo now. in which case you can probably install an earlier version of google earth and run it without any problems. i'lll see if i can find one in one of my old backups somewhere if you would like.
I would really appreciate that!

I doubt that would work, since you have to connect to google servers to run the program and they force you to use the most current version.
Worst case scenario you will get it when the official 2.2 is out, won't be long.
randomly now it works without any problems. strange.
Probably put it 2.2 only for the size. I still have ir installed on 2.1 and it works fine, I can pull the apk later and pay it If anyone wants it.

Alpha Honeycomb GSM ROM With working Apps

First off, this is not my rom, this is DiP7's rom. It is his and Spacemooses work. NOT MINE!!!!!!!!!
All I did was find away to get a few games to run.
*CORDY WORKS! It is completely playable with no sound and is HD graphic capable. Saves your spot and to be honest plays much smoother than it did on a custom 2.2 ROM overclocked to 1.4ghz.
It is the newest version off of the market. I got a few more apps working after the pics were posted. Streamlining it right now.
*Will post a replacement clockwork mod zip when i get a few more apps working. It will only include apps that were free on the market. I wanna make sure it is okay to repackage theses guys work.
Please let me know.
*Also, it seems to charge just fine while on the lock screen. had it on and plugged in all night, was fully charged in the morning.
PLEASE HIT THE THANKS BUTTON IF I HAVE HELPED!!!!
So it this just DiPs rom with some added apps?
Sent from my mind. Or a Galaxy Tab
U should probably mention that nothing works. No wifi, no Bluetooth, no 3G. I did this already but didn't think there was a point of sharing. All u gotta do is add apps to the /data folder, zip it, sign it and ur done.
Sent from my GT-P1000 using Tapatalk
Get market working. Then we can install the apps we like and need. Not a few you pre-packaged. Anyone can do that.
Thanks and all, you were trying to help...but you didn't actually do anything.
