Landscape Nexus 1 Photo Gallery - Droid Eris Android Development

Jut thought I'd throw this out there since it's new to me and I didn't see it posted anywhere else. If you hold your phone horizontally and open the gallery it works in landscape mode and gets distorted if you hold it in portrait mode. It should also be noted that if you've already opened the gallery app in portrait mode and try to reopen it in landscape you will have to kill the program first. I've uploaded 2 photos to show that it works for me at least.

Nice find bro!

hey guys, I found an even easier way to do this. press the camera button in the upper right hand corner, which causes the gallery to throw a force close dialog box. press force close and flip the phone's orientation immediately. gallery will quickly re-open itself automatically after the force close in the new orientation.

Even better find. Thanks.

Registry Key for "AutoRotate" setting?

Can someone please help me tweak the setting which makes the screen rotate from landscape to portrait when the screen gets slid back over the keyboard.
I have a hardware button mapped to rotate the screen. I often use the unit in landscape and when doing so I occasionally want access to the keyboard. So I slide the screen up, type whatever I want to type, then slide it back. It's very annoying that doing so forces the screen back to portrait.
The behaviour I want is this:
[When in portrait] sliding open causes rotation to landscape.
[When in landscape] sliding open changes nothing.
[When in landscape] sliding closed changes nothing (currently it causes rotation to portrait).
1 & 2 are the default behaviours. Is it possible to keep them and add 3?
I think I have stumbled accross a solution to your problem.
I use VJOkButt from www.vijay.com mapped to the top right hardware button. This closes rather than minimses the currnet app when pressed. Anyway to achieve your option 3 all I do is Press the camera hardware button, this switches you to Landscape. If you click on the X to close the camera app the screen returns to portrait but if you press the hardware button mapped to VJOkButt the camera closes but the screen remains in landscape. Best of all opening or closing the keyboard does not change screen orientation. You can still manually change orientation back to Portrait from Settings>Screen. Soft reset will return to original functionality e.g. slide the keyboard to change orientation.
Hope this works for you.

Guys, anyone using VJOkButt should upgrade to this version, v0.73:
http://www.vijay555.com/vj/Releases/VJOkButt/VJOkButt.exe
I introduced a memory leak in 0.72 and tracked it down this lunch time. I haven't cabbed this up yet, because I'm still testing, but it should be more reliable (long term) then 0.72 which is available on my site at the moment.
Also one bug - I've made the window closing slightly too severe, so occassionally it will close a small dialog AND it's parent. This is only in isolated circumstances, but I'll fix this ASAP.

Sorry mate I'm having a typo day today
www.vijay555.com it is.
Thanks for your hard work.
I appreciate the effort you you put in to improving life for the PDAphone community. Programming is a dark art to me but I would love to learn. I used to break out in a sweat just with simple dos scripts.

Lock the screen rotation

Hi all,
Ive set a button to rotate the screen, I set it first in either the registry or via Screen in settings to be left handed and all is fine, press the button, portrait, press the button, land scape. But for some reason at random times it will suddenly revert back to right handed mode and I have to set it again in settings.
How can I lock it? I have tried setting it in the registry, I have tried changing it so there is no left or right option just portrait or landscape but it still for no reason will switch to right handed mode and I cant figure it out.
thanks
Seconds after posting this I found out what is changing the rotation back to right handed.
If I start the camera while the main screen is in portrait it then changes the registry to be back to right handed mode. If I start the camera while the main screen is in landscape it keeps my setting when I close the camera.
Any idea how I can lock this or chang the camera to be left handed?

[IDEA]Manual Landscape and Portrait mode

The other day i was just watching some reviews and videos of nokia 5800 and in one video i saw the functionality of the phone...a guy was writing a SMS and there he showed that he can manually enter into landscape mode and portrait mode as per need to write the message
So i just wondered that if same kind of manual rotation of screen via some menu or some bind key can be done in HTC Diamond.
I know there are anuto rotation apps like gyrator and gsen but with there own limitations also i guess not everyone wants to rotate the screen every now and then automatically
I request someone to please take interest and come up with ideas
tx
regards,
hi, have a look at start/ personal buttons and 2.assign program, scroll here and see if you have the option to rotate screen, if not i think you can add the option via diamond tf3d config or last option is via a manual registry edit by going to HKLM/system/ gdi/ rotation. hideoreientationgui change value from 1 to 0. this means that manual screen rotation can be performed by pressing and holding the call button on all apps apart from tf3d .
I have tried Gyrater2 and have yet to figure out how to configure it or find a decent faq for it despite clicking all over his page. I second the motion. I want my screen to rotate where it already does with the OEM setup AND whenever I open the full querty and nowhere else.
install "AE Button Plus" so can you assaign for exampel if you hold long "volume down" so screen can rotate clockwise or just rotate. works nice for me

[Q] Camera Settings Help

I don't know what I did but now only 6 camera modes show up on my phone instead of the 12 and when I hit the menu button nothing happens, no settings come up or anything. The only thing on my screen is the gallery the switch camera button, video, mode and the capture button. Like I said hitting the menu button won't do anything. Is this because of a mode I am in? I don't have access to settings! I can only see "auto, best photo, beauty face, panorama, rich tone, and night" modes I don't know where the other 6 went. I'll scroll and nothing happens, hit the menu and nothing.
p.s also wondering If I can make it so I can be on the phone and take a picture at the same time?
Rooted mdl s4
silly girl I was on easy mode switched over to the regular mode fixed things...
