Copy Protected Apps Make Their Return for 2.1 Leak? - Droid Eris Android Development

So I was perusing the marketplace with my leaked-2.1 Eris today when I noticed something peculiar: Twidroid Pro had come back! This was an app that I actually lost access to for a while after one of the OTA's, so it surprised me greatly to see it back up for our build. Can anyone else on 2.1 confirm that copy protected apps have made their way back to the Market?

****, I know right, I've been waiting for LiveBible for a while now on my phone.

Are they actually copy-protected or are they marked for API level 4 (1.5)? Apps that aren't compatiable for this version of android will not show up in the market, but copy protected apps should.

Why should copy-protected apps appear? Google needs to be made aware of a particular firmware build to allow copy-protected apps to appear, correct?

WANTED: someone with working market

whats your region code when you check it with Market Enabler?
And are you on Sprint?
Awesome, thanks.
I'm running damage v1 on Sprint.
I thought it had protected apps but now that I check it cant find twidroid.
The number on the "actual" is 310120. That's the only info I've found. I know I had to change that value in the build.prop to make something work, don't remember what though.
Can you post another example of a protected app? My paid apps all show.
Twitroid is a common app used to check if protected apps are showing
CNET Scan & Shop is one that I can think of that doesn't show for me since flashing DC 2.0.
Also Fandango, it seems.
Google Googgles, Shopper & Barcode scanner (ZXing) don't work under DC 2.0.R2.
OP I will try and get this info for u. I am running DC 1.1B6
Moxier Mail too...

i think you are trying what i tried to do to enable protected apps by thinking its code related, but i get the same code whether i am running my 1.5 pancake to when i tried the 2.1 damage v2r2 today... i don't have it installed anymore, but it was definitely the same on the working (1.5) and non-working (2.1) versions
below is an excerpt from the "New Damaged rom mods" thread and it actually did work for me once, but then after i restarted it seemed to have lost the settings as it went back to my non-protected list only... i gave up on 2.1 because of the protected apps, titanium backup and vvm issue that i couldn't resolve without re-reading the 2300 posts in the original damage thread and hoping that things worked that didn't seem to work 100% of the time or for everyone.
THREAD EXCERPT
-Protected Apps fix: &postcount=94
*Make sure market isnt running first. If recently ran and in doubt restart. Pushed to /system/app/ then ran marketenabler program on phone. Saved current settings, went to settings list tab. Long held on T-Mobile and went to fake provider. Searched market an now i see tiwdroid PRO paid & free (if thats a valid test)

Why is the Market not complete on 2.2

I installed the new FRF72 which is supposed to be more complete correct
But I still have to run an adb command to make the market see my installed apps, and to be able to see protected apps in the market search
Is this going to be a default fix in the final froyo version, just doesnt seem professional I have to tamper with the phone to get apps showing
Just a curious thought!
Thanks
You're not using an official release

Not expecting it to function fully, but it is being downloaded off googles servers, and everything else works so was just curious why is it the market that suffers, im sure its more complicated.
Thanks
Because publishers set a max version number that can download their application.
Search and you will find more info about it.
May I ask which ADB command this would be?

its not suffering...its not out yet and is considered unstable with possible exploits. this is probably why protected apps are hidden from the market till final release.

Publishers can choose to copyright their application, which blocks any unofficial update.

Market missing apps after Froyo??

Some of the apps I had before the upgrade are not in there. I did the settings/apps/market, clear data/cache. They still don't appear. Could it be that app is not supported on 2.2?
For instance...
Paypal
Redbox (I searched redboxer to find in 2.1)
File Cover (for the lite version)

Those are copy-protected files and virtually every time we get an update, it takes about a week for them to come back. Google has to add our new version number to the Market database before copy protected apps come back. Hopefully, Sprint or HTC is already on top of this and by the time the update is officially OTA, Google will have it up and running. Until then, you'll just have to live with the other apps that aren't affected. Good news is, Google is moving away from copy-protection and is going to offer a licensing service instead, which should fix this issue.
Thanks for replying and explaining. Makes sense and I can wait.

Yeah no problem. I have ten apps and about half are paid that aren't showing up. I'm very anxious to get this fixed. Everything else in Froyo is amazing, so once this gets fixed, I'll be very happy!

Android Marked get new logo??

Is it just me or has the Android Market get new logo, so just right - plus it's got a new layout and function. ??
Here are some screenshot from my mobile.
Put special attention to "automatic updates"

Means your country is in the 'paid apps' loop =D
Singaporeans are experiencing this too
looks like Froyo's market with comments in separate section

Well that explains it.. They haven't done anything here in India, maybe because we already had access to paid apps
Here in holland they have seperated the info and comments. Now you can read much more comments instead of the latest three...

In Japan, we got the price changes (everything now is displayed in Yen), but nothing else. Automatic updating would be nice.
How you all get the new logo? I enter the android market, it is still showing the old market logo on my phone.
I only get the below paid apps :

You can now also do automatic updates

It's just a logo telling us we can use paid apps -_-. If it's 2.2 related, we would be able to see live wallpaper downloads too.
We are using 1.6. Not 2.2. Please don't go delusional now.
Chong - just try restarting your phone lor. Maybe the icon will be refreshed that way.

There are many benefits of getting the new Market! You get Auto Updating Feature in Market, You also get Update all feature and Real time Search Suggestions in Market.

You can't see Live Wallpapers just because your handset is on Android 1.6! Android Market doesn't list apps which are not compatible to your handset based on Android Version. I said, you would get this market eventually if you fall within 32 upgraded countries by goggle for Paid Apps. But this is just a workaround to force that Update now!
Well I tried the tutorial, doesn't seem to work for me.
Infact now I can't install any updates to my apps. (Download failed - Unknown error)
Luckily I have a backup of my market.apk so I'm going to reinstall

It should be working, You might be updating an app which you didn't install from market but it has an update for you. Try searching a new app and isntall it! Didn't you get the New Market through this?
And you need not re-install the Market Apk, just restore the original market settings from the app itself and it would be enough!

That's what I'm trying to say. Cos you used the word "Froyo", so I thought you're trying to say this market change is 2.2-related, which is not.
The icon change is just an indication that there is a change in the application, that's all =/
marked?? o.0

You all mention that I can install all the updates for the different apps at one go but I dun find any option in doing so. Where did you find that?

It is 2.2 related in the way that this is how the market works on Android 2.2. I guess Google decided to change things on their own, instead of waiting for OEMs.
Also, I don't have the new market, and I probably won't get it any time soon.

LOTA, LogMaster2, LogService???

Any one knows what each of those apps for:

I use Bloat Freezer and froze those apps with no problems or side effects. May have to reable to get OTA updates, not sure.

I think these are "over the air" logs services that track app'n issues, etc, sending feedback to google or developers? Could the streak function without these, good question. Freezing instead of deleting is a good idea. Provide a safe roll-back if necessary.
