WMV/RTSP Player

I've been trying to stream a wmv that is streamed through rtsp protocol...as far as I know neither WMP10, tcpmp or gsplayer is able to play this; either they don't support wmv files or are unable to stream rtsp.
Does anyone know how to get around this? Is there a player out there that can stream RTSP streamed WMV files?
thx in advance!
anyone??
Desktop wmp 10/11 can stream rstp...I wonder why not mobile?

[SOLVED] Streaming XviD Videos onto Android from a NAS

I finally managed to partially get (*) on my HTC Desire HD (US=Thunderbolt) what I had a year long before under Windows Mobile on my HTC HD2 using the excellent tandem Total Commander and CorePlayer. No more freaking MP4 video conversion needed.
It ended up being fairly easy using the following two applications straight out of the Android market:
- File Expert v2.5.7 (XDA link)
- VPlayer divx/xvid, wmv, m4v, flv, rmvb, avi, mkv, mov, mp4, 3gp (XDA link)
VPlayer was the first step being able to play all my test videos from the SD card but the key element was provided by File Expert via the network, it did not work with ES File Explorer and ASTRO: "Help your player to play medias which are stored on SMB share (your player must support HTTP streaming)"
Enjoy, I know I will
(*) VPlayer does not fast forward yet
Thanks for that ... I've been trying this for ages but could never achieve it.... this has made my day

Thanks dude, I've been trying to do this since yesterday, but couold not achive it. I'm happy .
I used a different approach, I installed (came with my custome rom) cifs manager, created the shares and then use ES file explorer and vplayer as default to watch video shared from my Qnap NAS TS210
A solution using the much smaller CifsManager sounds interesting. File Expert has mysterious lags that makes it unusable for anything else. The drawback of CifsManager for me is that it requires root access which I have lost going from 1.32 to 1.72. I would have loved trying it.
File Expert just plays a bridge role between your player and media files stored on SMB share.
Your player needs to support HTTP streaming, File Expert translates all SMB traffic to local HTTP streaming

i know of 2 apps that video streaming on home network

I use upn play and mobo player to stream video over home network.
hello
I use also iMediaShare, and Skifta (both DNLA)
why wouldn't my streamer apps (UPNP, Skifta, clear.fi etc.) not detect the mp4 files I am putting into my servers shared video folder? The apps see a my other video files, like the avi files and mpg files, but none of my mp4's show up.
Does that make any sense? Does UPNP ignore mp4 files? yet it seems like everyone converts their files to mp4 (which by the way play ok on the device if I attach and play through usb.).
I just want to convert everything to something that I can both stream and put on hard drive and take with me...

galaxy 10.1 won't play swf

I've tried the available apps and I can't get an offline swf to play. I just get a white screen. I load a test.swf from the web and that had the same results. I tried running the swf's on my rooted Nook Color and they run fine. I was hoping that the TouchWiz update would fix it but it didn't. Any ideas? The SWF is a business presentation.
Try Rockplayer.
I'll try it but doesn't that just play flash videos?
It should do the trick.
Supported file formats: avi, mkv, rmvb, mp4, mov, wmv, asf, wma, wav, mpg, ts, mpa, dvd, au, mp3, mid, ivf, aiff, ogm, ogg, cda, flic, d2v, aac, roq, flac, drc, dsm, swf, pls, pmp
Supported audio and video encoders: AAC, AC3, DTS, FLV4, LPCM, ALAW, ULAW, MPEG Audio, MPEG-1, MPEG-2, RealVideo, RealAideo, Vorbis, AVC (H264), VC1, XVID, DIVX, SVQ, Theora, Bink

I tried the test file and my presentation and RockPlayer can't open them. I did open the files via the browser and they work. I just need full screen. Does the default browser have a full screen mode?
Thanks.
I think there's a button that lets you choose the video size. Do you have a test file?
I downloaded a test.swf file from the web to make sure it wasn't my presentation swf. The presentation isn't a video and needs interaction. Like I said, the web browser works but I don't see a way to hide the navigation (on a pc it is F11).

Browser Settings > Labs > Quick controls
It will make it full screen like the F11. To get the menus back, swipe your finger from the bezel to screen.

[Q] play movie from networked PC on A500

I have a bunch of movies on an external hard drive connected to my home PC.
I want to be able to play the movies on my A500 whilst connected to the TV elsewhere in the house (over wifi)
I've played with clearfi with no luck. Is there an app that will allow me to do this easily with just a few clicks ?
Cheerz
I use PS3 Media Server on my PC and Bubble UPNP on my A500. Works great.
Thanks. I'll give them a try later. Will it play .avi files ?
I'm running off Thor's ROM, but I've had no issues streaming avi files via upnp.
The easiest method is BSPlayer, it actually lets you view movies from a shared folder rather than UPnP. You might have some lag with large files, but it does the job better than trying to get UPnP functionality to work 100% of the time.
There are a lot of options for streaming from PC. The easiest I've used so far is ES file explorer and MX video player. Just go to LAN in ES and stream via smb. MX streams/plays all the formats I have thrown at it.
If you have a custom rom with a kernel supporting cifs, you could try cifs manager. It create a shared folder on a specified location. It works great for music too. I can even scan my network shared music library with the stock music player (or other) by creating a shared folder on the sd-card.

For movies, I also recommend MovieBrowser HD, a nice front end that scan your movie library and fetch covers and descriptions, opens with your fav movie player.

Same here, es file explorer and mx or dice works great.
I'd second Diceplayer in a heartbeat if I could actually buy the full version. The trial played everything I threw at it including 720p avi and mkv files.
I just used File Manager HD to browse to folder and BS player to stream, very easy.
I tried a VLC app and it worked pretty well. Just make sure its not the remote app.

I was going to buy the full version but its saying the account is locked or something?
I'm going to spend this weekend trying all the suggestions - thanks
I ran into the same issue. I ended up giving BS Player a shot and it handled 720p mkv and avi files like a dream. Granted, it was playing them off an external HDD, but it's definitely worth a download.
Yes I think that FM HD is the best for LAN connection over wi-fi and xm player. But mx player cannot read subtitles from network drive.
Serviio for the pc (dlna server java software) and skifta on your A500.
