2.1 Launcher APK possible? - Droid Eris Android Development

So since upgrading to 2.1 I have been messing with a few different things seeing if there is a way to get livewallpapers installed. What I am wondering is there a way currently to get a 2.1 launcher installed on the eris with 2.1 or whatever is needed for the livewallpapers?

I have tried to use the current livewallpapers.apk on the Eris and it will install but I can't find them in the system to use them. I think we will have to port them over to the Eris in order for them to show up in the wallpaper gallery.

you will also need to install livewallpaperpicker along with launcher2.

Forget about installing launcher2 (at least the one from DroidLife), it causes FC loop that you need to pull your battery to get out of.

Yeah! That could be why the launcher is FCing. Try live walls and launcher 2 together. Someone with 2.1! I didn't want to update.

This didn't change the fc issue

You know what? On second though, I actually have no idea where the Android lockscreen is stored... Silly me. The HTC Lockscreen, however, is stored in /system/app/HtcLockscreen

Its built into the core of the Android system as far as I know. its not an individual program .apk that can be installed or pushed.
I'm not so much concerned with the Launcher as the Lockscreen I really want that and maybe if it was clear that would be dope too but mainly just the 2.1 lockscreen

I don't know which one it is, but the GoogleBits v1.9 for AOSP has the lockscreen in there, don't know which apk it is, but it's in there, I pushed it on an vanillia aosp 2.1 that didn't have a lockscreen once i did, it showed up.
and look around for launcher2.apk which is the nexus one's "home"
sorry don't have time to find them both and link them, but they're in darch's thread somewhere. hopefully that points you guys in the right direction
EDIT: oh forgot, after you push the google bits, remove the htc one and it will revert to the google lockscreen, but only after you push the google one *this is important*
EDIT2: oh agian... do a nandroid backup first
I remember that now I did have that lockscreen when I used that rom but it lacked too many things I needed so I went back to Fresh 1. maybe Noj can chime in on this and lend a hand or does anyone else know how I can get that lockscreen
If its like the one from the Droid you could use lockbot pro

it's really only a issue if your using lwp with it, try the other launcher with lwp
is there a way we can get 5 home screens and use lwp? if you push and use launcher2.apk to the phone and use that for your homescreen, lwp screws up your phone. at the same time, using the regular launcher only gives 3 screens... =/

Android Wallpaper missing after 1.47.651.1

Someone tried to tell me this before but no, it's not. It's completely removed as an option. The wallpapers are still on the phone somewhere though because after installing, it loaded up the green grass wallpaper I was using from the Android Wallpapers so I know they didn't delete them.
Does anyone know how to access them so I can just use them myself?

Not the first time Engadget's been wrong.
Engadget isn't completely wrong because mine and some others are also merged into the HTC wallpaper directory. However there are others I also know..and theirs are gone too. I did a hard reset on mine last night so I would have a clean upgrade tho.
no Launcher
Mine did the same, no Android wallpapers. More annoyingly however, is that I can't get rid of Sense anymore. Sense was disabled and I was running Launcher when I updated this morning. It booted back up with Sense and now I can't figure out how to disable Sense again if it is at all possible.

That works - I'm using LauncherPro and didn't even need to get Home Switcher - but we shouldn't have to download other launchers when the stock Launcher was available. I just don't understand why they felt the need to delete these harmless traces of stock Android, especially the wallpapers. What i the world was their logic in that?
Anyone know where these wallpapers were located at in the file system? I will try to extract mine and upload them up for others.
Thanks, running ADW.
Weird...Yesterday, I updated to DC 2.2.2.1 w/OTA then updated radio & WiMax. Once i got everything running, the first thing i did was check wallpapers and the Android Wallpapers were gone. I checked today and they're back
Kept the one I was using prior to the update, can't remember if there were any other good ones. Saw the post on page 1, gonna hunt em down.

I've also been trying to find the filesystem location of the original 'stock android wallpapers' files available on 1.32.651.6 has anyone found or know where they are?
I found the htc wall papers @ /system/customize/resource/htc_wallpaper_xx.jpg but not the 'android wallpapers'.
edit: note, not yet rooted so maybe can't see them.

Put the .apk on your SDcard and use Astro or something simular to launch it.
Depending on the build you may also have to select in phone options to allow non marketplace apps to install.
How would you uninstall this if I wanted to go back to Sense?

Delete HTCLockscreen.apk from /system/app and then reset
Hmm, I can't get this to work on FroyoStone.
When I open the .apk file it tells me it's already installed, even though I don't have the 3D launcher, and it gives me the option to uninstall. I even tried uninstalling the old package, rebooting and reinstalling the file found here... everything looks the same.

Oh, really?
I thought this was the 3D launcher like you see in Nexus One. You know, the one where the bottom of the list fades away in a 3D manner.
The one on FroyoStone doesn't seem 3D at all, it's just a grid of icons on a black background.

deleting the file would give you trouble turning off your alarm. only a shutdown would turn off the alarm. do you have to do something else for this to be solved?

never mind, found the solution on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-754938.html

[Q] android without a launcher

hi guys
ive been using android with sense for a long time, i installed home++ this week and all is good.
is it possible thought to run android without any type of launcher such as sense or home++? if so how do I do it? I've tried clearing defaults but it just gives me the same choice as before either sense or home++.
sorry if this is an incredibly stupidly question!

ok yeh i understand that, but if im happy with my current rom (ok I lied, I can't be doing with the hours of setting up my phone again) so how do I do it on my current rom with sense & home++. surely there must be way to turn off a launcher?
Download Home Switcher from the Market ! Hopefully that will help !
To be pedantic, you need a Launcher for your phone to work, but one is built into eclair for you.
Uninstalling Rosie is the permanent method, but I advise the market app that switches home application.

[Q] wich launcher?

Hi all
I'm using DZO's Aurora ROM since 1.10 or so.
Very happy with it, only issues i felt are with Nova Launcher
sometimes it lags a lot, home takes a long time to get...
I changed to stock launcher, and it seems much better - but i hate it
Is anyone using Aurora with a different launcher? and how do you feel about it?
Thanks
Apex Launcher is pretty good for customising. I think I started using it to get rid of the persistent Google search bar.

is there a way to copy my NovaLauncher settings rapidly to Apex?

Don't know, sorry. Haven't found anything on teh interwebs...
I use Go Laucher (multilingual) and it's the most easier and customizable to use.
I like the option to create folders and organize aps on the drawer, like a folder for games, call, internet, travel, admin, tools, etc...
I tried many launchers and to me, this one is the best.
I use Go Launcher EX for a week now and i find it very easy and fun to customize. It does ofc have shortcomings too. It has made the phone a bit slower for example. But that may be cause its running on stock froyo (the phone is rather new) and when I get the time to root and install a better rom it will be better.
I prefer stock launcher. No lags and super speed
