Just a question - Omnia II General

Hi, i noticed that the more recent HTC phone will dim their screen slowly when the user presses the lock button and when they repress their lock button to unlock, the screen slowly brighten up. May i know this sort of animation effect is hardware based or is it just software controlled. Also if this is software controlled, is it possible for Omnia 2 to have it? Thank You.

request: screen lock when blacklight turned off by p-button

Hi,
is it possible to write an appication that checks if the backlight is turned off by having the power button pressed for more than 2 seconds (not by a certain period of input inactivity!).
If that is the case, the screen is locked automatically by the program (and, configurable, the buttons, too).
If the backlight is turned on again, the lock is to be released again.
This would be a very handy screen/button lock application in my opinion. Unfortunately, I lack the programming skilss so... is there anyone who can accomplish such a program?

Perfect keylock

Hi,
I've been trying to figure out how to implement the perfect keylock. Currently, I'm not able to find a keylock program/MortScript that does the following:
1. Lock the keypad if phone goes into standby
2. Auto-unlock the keypad if the power button is pressed.
This way, when I power on my phone, it's not locked. But if it's auto-powered on (ie reminder, etc.) then it will be locked.
Hi, I find it interesting that, you can upload scripts please
Greetings and Thanks
Sorry for the English
have you tried S2U2? (Slide to unlock - keylock similar to iPhone's)
Think it does 1) not 2), but I'm not too sure...
it looks cool though
Our device does both points as standard. Problem that it powers itself on and automatically unlocks when for example a call or any notification pops up on the screen.
I agree with hachuah's idea about automatic locking, so I'm looking for application that could:
1. Lock the screen if standby
2. On standby mode. If I tap some part of the screen (some part of screen only to save some batt power), then it would show option to unlock.
3. If I tap, but do nothing or do not unlock, it would goes to standby again.
With above I do not have to push the power button, buttons are easy to be come wear and stay down.
I'm even gladly to pay for someone who's willing to create that kind of application. Or is it already available?

I seriously doubt if that could be archieved by software alone. The touch screen is essentially connected to the LCD power. If the panel is off, the touch screen is off.
Furthermore, it's a all-or-none operation - you just can't have "part" of it on, and ther other part off. I am pretty certain no manufacturer would ever produce such an implementation, even if they could.

I know that Symbian phone able to do that.
So, basically I could set the timer for the screen to go off. And when the screen off and tap on the screen, it will ask if I want to unlock the screen or not. If not, it will go off again.
So, from what you said, it is impossible to make the screen off but the touch on? It is a hardware issue then. What a sad. Only recently I moved from Symbian to WM, if only WM doesn't rely on button too much.
Or maybe it is possible by set the brightness to very minimal, so doesn't display anything, but the touch is still working?
So, it's an application that would turn the brightness off and lock after some defined time. And would turn the brightness on again when the touchscreen is tapped to ask if user want to unlock.
Is it possible?
Perhaps I should clarify what I said - what I meant by "all or none" operation is that the *touch screen* won't be able to get switched on partially - to save power as you have hoped.
In fact, the touch screen is technically separated from the LCD panel itself, and the backlite too - but it's either a MS or HTC decision that they are stuck together, i.e. you just can't have the LCD off, with the touch screen stays on.
In fact, recent HTC devices WM5 or above have elmininated the function to actually turn off the backlight while the LCD panel is on.
So what we can do is very much limited to use a button based keylock, instead of a touch screen based.
As for your suggestion to display "black" on screen while keeping minimal backlight - it's note quite practical in HTC devices. First the backlight must be on as I said earlier for it to display even "black" such that the touch screen is responsive. It follows that your battery will be drained extremely quickly.
Even with very small power to LCD for the touch could work still takes too much power? Aww.. so it is not possible to do what I want.
Well, I guess I need to get used to with using button, or maybe next time I will try to use bluetooth device to wake the screen.
Thank you for the information, very educating and useful.

Diamond light sensor does not work at Blackberry Connect lock screen, any workaround?

I noticed that at the lock screen of the Blackberry Connect, the light sensor of the diamond does not work. Whenever diamond goes into the lock screen, the screen automatically become very dim. It will not light up even if you press the any hardware button. This is very anonying since under bright sunlight, it is very hard to unclock the device since you can barely see anything. The only way to light up briefly is by pressing and holding the phone button, this will activate the voice command. But this only lasts a couple of seconds, too short for typing anything. Does anyone know any trick/utility, mortscript that works on diamond and can temporarily light up the screen maybe for 20 or 30 seconds when the device is turned on with the lock screen? Thanks.

Backlight off/on whilst locking/unlocking

Hi,
I think there is a problem that with all the knowledge of genius like the TouchInCall-team, the Sleep-team and HW Tweakers could be solved.
Backlight is not completely shut off when locking. This has consequences like:
1. consuming valuabe batterypower
2. giving too much light in my bedroom at night (need a good rest )
3. when using the timed backlight shut off (or the powerbutton) you have to use the powerbutton to switch on the light again. (I love this wonderful apparatus too much to worn out this button within a short period)
So here is my request
Has anyone a brilliant idea to automatically switch off the backlight when locking and switching on when unlocking
Alternative a separate un(locking) tool and a backlight on/off tool could maybe be together designated to a "hardware" button (by AEBplus)
Thanks

A lot of people like to have their devices locked as a safety precaution preventing others from using your phone (especially with code required to unlock), but they still want device on to view any missed calls, sms, voicemail etc.
one touch away
Hi,
I think you mean a bit of light makes it possible to still read the screen?
For all clarity: my goal is not a password locking facility. I was referring to the standard locking facility that can be activated by a long press on the hangup button.
It is all a matter of choice of what one finds the most important:
1. one touch of a "hardware"button to switch on backlight (as in the standard locking facility) to make the screen readable
or
2. keeping the backlight always on and worning out battery, powerbutton and nightrest
Too me nr. 1 has only advantages and nr. 2 only disadvantages
So it would be great (and I guess not only to me) if this could be worked out.
Thanks

Screen off and Screen lock times?

On the EVO 4G there are different screen lock settings. I just thought that this was because they were one 2.2, but this is not the case. One can press the lock button and the screen goes off. If the lock button is pressed again in a predefined amount of time; you don't have to put in the unlock pattern. Are we able to mod our Vibrant's to operate like this. I searched the forums with no luck. Ideally I would like to have the same menu settings in the OS and not App work-arounds (i.e. proxy sensor locks).
Thanks for reading,
Andrew
