It should be said that you don't *need* to change the ROM if you just want to get it to work on O2 as SIM unlocking is usually separate from the ROM (one exception being the latest Orange ROM).
However, even if you do flash a new ROM, you will see get the T-Mobile G2 Touch splash screen when you boot up. To replace this, you need to replace your SPL with the S-OFF version which would then allow you to change the splash screen.

T-Mobiles SDA Business / REQ: QTEK-ROM GER

Hey folks,
have an T-Mobile SDA Business (the black one) and I have to update the ROM (don't ask why), so I thought about updating it to the QTEK-ROM for the corresponding device without any branding as my T-Mobile has.
My question is: where can I find one and which is the HTC Codename for the device? Is it the HTC Typhoon? English or german ROM doesn't matter, because there's also an official T-Mobile ROM for later setting it back to german before I'll sell it (if ever). I think that even in the english Version I can switch the T9-language to German, right?
I also have an MDA Pro with QTEK ROM which works better than T-Mobile ROM for me.
I've searched the XDA-dev-FTP but didn't find anything.
Any information would be great.
Regards,
NiTeSHiFT
The SDA Business is known as the HTC Feeler, but often known as a variant of the HTC Typhoon. The Typhoon and the Feeler use different keyboard drivers so you must be careful.
I'm afraid I don't know where the ROM is.

Thanks for the info about the HTC Feeler. Didn't knew that. I knew only the HTC Typhoon, found and installed that ROM and found out that 2 of my Keys didn't work the way they should ;-) Actually the didn't work at all.
So I flashed the new german T-Mobile ROM and have to use that one.
But actually I want to buy a QTEK 8310 but have to chek if I get my SDA Business repaired. The lower right key doesn't work anymore, but I didn't do anything. Hope the warranty catches up.
If you want to, you can try upgrading your SDA Business with the latest German ROM from T-Mobile here: https://after-sales-service.t-mobile.de/eg_online/t-mobile/t_sda.htm
This should fix your button problem. Good luck!

Thanks for the hint, but as I mentioned in the posting above, I flashed the QTEK, found out, that it didn't work how it should and flashed back the newest T-Mobile ROM in German.
"So I flashed the new german T-Mobile ROM and have to use that one. "
Thanks anyways
So you're saying that you can't get the phone to ActiveSync with Windows? I'm having the same problem at the moment and I'm looking at whether it is possible to flash an image from a mini-SD card. If you find anything about this please do let me know.

Using an unlocked 8125 on T-Mobile

I have the WM6 kitchen, and I have been using it on my Apache.
My friend wants me to flash his 8125 unlocked to work for tmobile
what certain/extra instructions will I have todo to make sure it will still work on tmobile?
Basically all the wizards made by HTC are the same in hardware, features, applications and utility wise. They all are manufactured by HTC for different vendors and cellular networks, which sell them according to their own brands and OS's.It doesn't matter if its from T-mobile,cingular or Att&T. Yes! you can flash a Cingular with T-mobile OS or vise versa and with any wm6 rom.The only difference is in the GPRS and network settings,if you want to flash a T-mobile Rom,then you'll have to get the settings of T-mobile,thats it !!!
Cheers!
Thank you zabardast_1! I'm kinda scared to mess with other people's phone, uhh, because it's not mine!
I use an 8125 on T-Mobile. Works fine, just unlocked it and put in sim, didnt even have to reflash rom (though I did later, anyway)

Just to make sure, when you say ORIGINAL, you mean the Cingular ROM?
The original can be Tmobile 2.26 or Cingular 2.25. It really doesn't matter which one, the phone has no idea what "clothing...case" it's wearing. You can find the Cingular 2.25 rom off HTC's website I believe.
Jeff
I just picked up a cingular 8125 and set it up for my fiancee to use on tmobile. Just make sure you follow the directions for G3/G4 and you'll have no problems at all. I also CID unlocked it and loaded up the 2.26 tmobile rom for her. She called and had them help her through the data settings and all works just fine.
I'm actually jealous of the phone, I have a Sprint Mogul and she gets much better battery life than I do.

You need active sync from microsoft to sync with pc, or you can just plug it in with usb and use it as a removable drive, follow the tutorial on the rom section to debrand and unlock your o2 HD2 by upgrading to the new 1.48 roms...
thanks richie,
i will download active sync now, but i have a question,
im tryng to find the rom section but i have found quite a few posts, im really confused, what is SPL??
do i just install 1.48 and that should debrand and unlock my device??
and what is goldcard???
im coming from an n97, and have been using symbian for over 5 years, so i apologize in advance
o2 will now let you unlock it,maybe for free...more info on that here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5054228&postcount=2
The latest 1.48 ROM cannot be loaded without using goldcard, on an O2 HD2.
For Windows Vista and 7, you need Windows Mobile Device Center (activesync renamed).
It on the windows mobile site to download.

Follow this thread to the letter and you won`t go wrong....
Useful info!
Chaps,
Once this has the 1.48 installed on it will it then be able to be upgraded with ROM's from the HTC site in future without the use of a GoldCard?
Or will it need to be network unlocked too?
Is this GoldCard business needed because the O2 HD2 is network locked?

For now you will need to use the goldcard method for installing the roms from HTC as they have not yet gone official..I can`t see it affecting future upgrades from the HTC site but my experience tells me that when ever i`ve had an O2 branded HTC device the HTC website won`t allow downloads from there site when you have to enter your serial number. You have to wait for O2 to release there own version of the update which NEVER happens....
Hence why i ended up at this brilliant site.
thanks guys, im going to follow the goldcard method,
will there be such another method without goldcard in the near future? im not even sure what goldcard is to be honest
will debranding to 1.48 unlock the phone as well?? or not ??
i have submitted the unlock phone request form on o2's website but am just wondering if the new rom will unlock the phone?

Thanks Richie, that's a very comprehensive answer!
Hey, I've got an O2 branded phone which was unlocked using the unlocking website (€22 it cost). Using a 3 UK sim and I'm wanting to get rid of O2's branding.
I've downloaded "RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship.exe"
My question is will this ROM remove the branding and do I need to use the goldcard with this or is this a shipped rom (that I can just update using the exe)?
Many thanks,
Ross.

Okay cool, card prepared and rom loaded on.
Is this the best rom to use at this moment? Just waiting for the battery to charge > 80%
Branding is cosmetic, I can live with that. Network locking prevents the use of another network's SIM cards and is the real problem. I recently bought an O2 branded HD2 on ebay, and I am not an O2 subscriber. Whilst I have read on other threads that O2 now offer unlock codes for free, it seems unlikely that they will do this for a non-subscriber. So I have been trying the commercial unlockers, of which there are many. Of the four tried so far, all have been unable to calculate an unlock code for my EMEI no. To be fair, three of them immediately refunded what I had paid them. So now I am stuck with O2. I would like to understand this situation better. Is my phone just too new, in which case I just need to be patient? Is it something worse? Any comment would be welcome.
BTW reflashing to a stock or cooked ROM does NOT remove network locking.

Unlocked T-mobile HD2 problems

newbee to HD2's .....
I've recently got a t-mobile HD2 and got it unlocked. At the moment i'm using it with an O2 contract till november.
Have installed opera 10 (not installed as standard) but it still wants to use this silly WEB'N'WALK. How do i remove this ?
The only other thing thats getting on my wick is the T-MOBILE startup screen wish it was the original HTC one. How can i chnage this ?
Have tried to upgrade ROM from 1.43 to 1.48 but it wouldn't work. Got 10% but error couldn't complete came up.
can anyone help
cheers
chris
Install HardSPL on the device (check ROM forum) then pop the default splash screen on. Then put a non T-Mobile Rom on the device, take your pick from standard 1.66 or custom and u should be all sorted

[Q] HTC Rom question

My missus has a HTC Touch 2 unlocked with a T-Mobile rom currently on it
Now im looking to either upgrade the current rom on it (via the HTC official site) or get her a newer rom off XDA developers, but im wondering and i know this might sounds like a stupid question, but if i flash the rom will it lock the phone again? as she is using it on Orange at the present time
thanks in advance
