HTC HD3 Concept - HD2 General

This is how HTC HD3 would have to look to be a perfect device for me.

Some specifications don't exist yet, but hey, we're allowed to dream right?
In my graphic novel (which takes place 5 years from now) one of the characters uses this phone. It's just not called HTC HD3. I'm obsessed with details so I had to designed it before drawing it in his hand. Made entirely in Photoshop.

・Hardware buttons: Volume, Sleep/Shut Down
・Dual Boot for Android and Windows Mobile 7 Professional
・HTC Sense 3
・Build-in Stereo Speakers on both sides of the screen
・Straight-Talk™
・3.5 mm stereo audio jack
・8 Mega Pixel camera (with Auto focus, Smile recognition and a Dual LED Flashlight)
・Standard Micro-USB (5-pin micro-USB 2.0)
・2GHz Snapdragon™ processor
・microSD™ memory card
・Rechargeable 2500 mAh Lithium-ion battery

* True Touch is a fictional technology. A tiny 0,042" (1mm) wide tile would follow your finger creating a bump for a "True Touch" experience. It would be an alternative for people who can't live without a QWERTY keyboard (such as myself).

Too good to be true.

Are you publishing your novel anywhere ?

Looks like it's sharp enough for me to spread cheese onto my toast in the morning.

The carbon fiber look sick.

I was going for a very thin yet solid look (forgot to mention in the specs that the case is made out of metal). Guess your right - it looks sharp. Oh well, that just gives the device another function - kitchen knife.

Haha, nope. Still working on it, but it's nice you asked.

looks very nice i must say and the specs are awesome, if only......
and tell us more about the book.....

Not bad, I just don't like the screen going right to the edge at the bottom, it's also technically unrealistic, even moreso as it looks curved, at least for the timeframe an HD3 would likely be released...
Truetouch is fun, maybe one day with flexible OLEDs... but that would be in many years (5-10), while how it goes now an "HD3" would be due to be out next year

Wow, nice design.
But a 8mb camera on such a thin phone its impossible.
Anyway, you have quite some design talent!

Beautiful mate. Where do I sign for one?

Very nice

Just a short note:
Microsoft won't allow any UI changes within WP7S. Is HTC Sense 3 meant to be for Android (but the picture shows WinMo in the background).
Specs seem too good to be true, the others leaked some time ago seem more realistic (for example 1.5 GHz Snapdragon). But, I hope these points you posted are correct, especially dual-boot.

Hmm.. I'd rather see the screen completely edged. So no carbon fiber on the sides at all ..
Overall it does look slick.. Good job on this one.

That's not Carbon Fiber on the sides - those are two huge stereo speakers

What's the point of stereo speakers that close to each other? Useless like on most phones that have them, only good to add a line to the spec list for marketing

They might by BOSE super acoustic speakers that can project the sound!!!!!!!
FFS people it's a bloody concept, stop getting hung up about it's spec lol.
It's a excellent piece of graphics design, you clearly have some skills. Now please design a decent WVGA Coreplayer skin

the current HD2 already very good

Still looks like fake... I think it will look more like Samsung, flat, sharp, SMALL...
Unfortunately, having had the xda for a few months I've come to this conclusion.... you cant have small with this kind of device!
Normal hand held use
I got cramp in my hand using the Sony Erricsson for 20 minutes. This was mainly due to its smaller size, otherwise its a good device. Again I wouldnt want to write a story on it for 2 hours like I did waiting in a car-park the other day on the xda
GPS Navigation
Consequently the xda screen-size is also perfect for GPS use in the car, again, with a smaller screen I wouldnt like using it in that application either.
The only possible way it could be improved size wise is with two screens, in a fold out flip-phone configuration, with the same overall screen size as now, but it would be a pain for GPS.
Basically, If you want a tiny phone, this isnt for you. If you want a device that is highly versatile, ergonomic which just happens to also be a phone, (e.g. as a secondary function) a pocket pc xda / xda2 is excellent.
Groan,.... when are mobile manufacturers going to realise that the xda's user demographic already own decent digital cameras.
The effect of this will be you never use it, unless you're out minus digital camera and see a ufo.
lets face it a ufo would have to be pretty close at 640x480 to make it worth taking a picture of!
Wouldnt it be better to not bother with a built in camera until streaming video calls become affordable/technically available.
It doesn't like a phone anymore......
I'm afraid the signal will not be as good as the old XDA..
xda 2
hi
isnt it a shame they havent fitted a decent camera. especially with the 65000 colours. and why havent the put blue tooth as standard.

The camera's a reason for me NOT TO BUY an XDAII: In the industry I'm in, camera phones are banned for reasons of espionage. Manufacturers should keep in mind that this applies to many other businesses as well. The time will come when we have to go back to old fashioned wired phones on our desks because no wireless device will be available without a camera.
... it would really hurt to buy a new device and immediately treat the camera with a nail and hammer!
Martin
That's really stupid. If you can't be trusted to begin with, you could very well sneak in a mini digital camera anyway. Idiots.

Nexus 2

Okay, so I've had my Nexus one for a while now, and I was wondering what they could possibly do to the nexus 2 that would make it even better. I'm thinking probably a faster processor, and more ram, but what else comes to mind?
would love to see a FM Trans to like "broadcast" to the radio....Like those transmitters for mp3 players....Would be siiiick to have pandora or something playing over car radio via my phone
Don't they have something that does that already?
better use of the snapdragon processor, but that's software related... I would like it to be more durable such as made from a single block of aluminium. Also a powerful graphics chip.

Yeah, a more powerful graphics chip would be awesome, I just can't wait til the big developers start moving towards android so we can have some of the awesome games and apps the iPhone has.

I second this. God that thing is amazing. But it won't look right until the Supersonic comes out. THEN a decent Rom will be possible in my eyes.
But with Windows Phone 7 I can imagine the devs are busy porting that to it right now.

Not that I could care less... but I would really love for the N2 to have a true multi-touch screen to shut that debate down... 1GB of RAM, 4GB internal ROM, 4" screen, XVGA LCD or SuperAMOLED... I don't like AMOLED for outdoor use. 10MP camera, with xenon flash... and of course Android 3.1!

For less than $500 right?
I will be keeping my Nexus for 2 or more years, whatever comes around the corner - i'll just port it over to the Nexus.. since the N1 is like the G1 in terms of development and popularity, I should be ok for a while..
(this is really what I'm just telling myself.. I dont want my precious Nexus to become.. not worth the time of day anymore...)
Why does technology have to advance so fast!! =(
front facing camera for video chat, a high quality speaker-phone, a kickstand with a projected laser keyboard? an hd projector component
hardware keyboard
x
I myself am sick of the having to chase technology.... I'm done for a bit, my n1 will sufficient for a year, I think thats a good time to get a new phone, once every year...
N1 just needs adobe flash and apps to sd and ill be happy as a cucumber....
Video recording capability @ 24 frames per second (constant!) with DECENT audio quality ... like the Milestone. Why have a 480x720 video resolution when the video is laggy and audio is utter crap? Also a flash option on the video recording would also be good - again, just like the Milestone.
Finally, make FM radio work and you have the perfect device.
the 1ghz processor is enough for me. the current amount of ram is enough- maybe a tad bump is cool.
get rid of the amoled display, 4-4.3 inch display. no trackball. sleep/wake from a hardware button like g1/mytouch. being able to shoot hd video.
other than that... having the nexus one has finally made me not eager to look/have the next best cellular device. this n1 almost kicks my netbooks ass

HTC Zeta, 2.5GHz Quad-Core CPU & ICS

HTC Zeta rendered, rumored to pack 2.5GHz quad-core CPU and Ice Cream Sandwich

We just got handed imagery and specs of a possible HTC device in the works codenamed the Zeta. It's a quad-core handset, much like the Edge that was leaked last week, but it has a much faster 2.5GHz APQ8064 CPU along with 1GB of RAM running the show, on a 4.5-inch 720p HD display. According to our source, the uniquely shaped smartphone will come with Ice Cream Sandwich pre-installed with Sense UI (version 4.0 wasn't specified, but we'd be surprised to see it any lower on an ICS device) and have 32GB of internal storage space, an 1,830mAh battery, Beats Audio, Bluetooth 4.0, an 8MP rear camera with dual LED flash, 1080p video capture and a 1.3MP front-facing cam. Dimensions? We have those, too: the Zeta is said to measure at 109.8 x 60.9 x 9.8mm (4.32 x 2.4 x 0.39 inches) and weigh 5.15 ounces (146g). Pricing and availability aren't known, and we're still digging for more info. It certainly has an intriguing look; the sharp corners would be a huge departure from HTC's recent design choices, though it appears to have HTC's signature unibody build in the back. So are we just looking at a cool concept or is this the next flagship phone? We're hoping it's the latter.

Haha, it's all good man, I like the picture in there better too.
Anyways, this thing looks sharp! I wonder how it'd feel to actually hold it though. And 2.5GHz, quad-core is a ridiculous amount of processor power for a phone, it's crazy.
Yeah and the 2.5ghz??? My laptop sits at 2.1ghz...I could probably use Solidworks or Adobe Illustrator off of this phone sitting in class haha.
I wish they would up the camera sensors on it and bump up to Asia's megapixel and lens technology...13 megapixels and LUMIX lens~

Many people are mad with them for SGS(+) and Ice Cream Sandwich
I don't really care what size the screen is or how many gigaflops it's millions of cores can produce, just don't make it look like crap or make it out of something that creaks if you even glance at it.
Truth is that I will not replace my i9000 to S3 until S3 will be made differently I mean like steel all around (including screen frame) with carbon fiber battery cover, if it is going to be better - it should be better in every single way not just specs. I use my i9000 like an egg and it already have scratches on frame close to usb input and back cover because of my nail. No scratches on screen but i have tiny little dot on glass i do not know how it got there. Samsung was going with galaxy series very well - time to make a quad core tank with lifetime usage possibilities.

So your main criterion for choosing a phone is how it looks?
I've been waiting for this... Will it be the one for real?
surely will have great spec, but just wondering if it's worth its size??? not sure if will replace my SGS (one) or simply buy a tablet to meet my need for internet browsing while on the move... and hope the battery will last for 24hrs of normal usage (two emails/calendars sync on, various apps, internet etc) without looking for power outlet mid-day. My SGS hardly last for one day on one charging...
You could fit a 4.6" screen on a phone around the size of the i9000 if you ditched hard keys and had the screen almost edge-to-edge. I won't buy a phone you need to wear on your belt.e
What's the story with new phones coming in at 4.6"+ displays?
I would think the original galaxy S at 4'' was superb fit for pocket and portability. Increase that to 320ppi with a superamoled HD display and voila we have new SGSIII.
I can't see why they going for such big displays. I even have the 4.3"" HD2 and that's the max I would see for a phone.
There will be disappointment and exhilaration with this release. Either way I am buying this regardless....
EDIT: I am hoping for Wolfson DAC in the audio output. It must have this dac..

Not at all, we all know this thing is going to be a beast of a phone, so I have no worries about it's performance, but I want something that doesn't look like it was designed by an art student trying to be "edgy"
But it is getting to the point now where they will all be more powerful than any of us realistically need for the near future, so the look (OLED vs TFT is becoming more of a non-issue) is the only real thing that's going to differentiate them. I don't like the HTC aesthetic, it's just boring to me, Sony have gone all bling again and others like Motorola just seem to design their phones for corporate boardrooms.
Samsung just seem stuck trying to refine the "not iPhone" shape of the SGS 1 in Europe, and it's getting a little boring, time for something new. And it will probably save them a few quid if Apple can't keep suing them because of a physical home button.

I guess that HTC went with the "if something isn't broken don't fix it" moto, cuz the only major improvement is the camera.
Another leaked video from Upleaks:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGvnyii8xlc
I think it's a fake... Look at the M9 when the guy is taking the photo to the girl: the phone has got a thick black stripe under the screen, while the one over the screen is very thin. Now watch the rest of the video: the upper strip is bigger, while the other is thinner... Oh cm on! And sorry for my bad english
Also these advertisements are really bad made... I'm not really sure they are true!
Really hope this isn't the m9. The black bar is just awful.
ho my god
it s an M8 again :crying::crying::crying:
I really dont get why all negativity, the M8's design is great and better than the competition in every part of the build. So why would HTC Change what yes ain't broken, the Camera is meh on the M8, so its now been improved, the performance if the M8 is anything to go by will be fantastic. There will be other things I'm sure that will change that mindset.
I honestly wasn't expecting huge changes in design and that's cool with me. I would safely assume the M10 or whatever the 2016 model may be will have that change.
I'm sure you'll all be happy when you purchase
I'm a bit disappointed in HTC, banging on the internet doors that they are bringing new things to MWC, just to show us a refresh/fix of the M8 (Yeah I know they will bring more stuff).
They better be calling it the HTC one 8.5 or something, because this isn't a number change worth.
I still think the M7 is a better looking phone then the M8, just because of the radius on the corners, and because the bottom and top speaker have the same width.
what a disappointment
Its not that bad lol I didn't mind how the m8 design was.

I'm not convinced this is the final version of the m9. With the leaks in the past few years, it's possible HTC is creating their own leaks to generate buzz. Regardless, I still love my m8 and am getting the m9 when my tax money arrives.?
I agree. I'm not sure it is real. Look at the poor editing, the screen images are not correctly aligned with the phones edges. Not the professional video I'd expect from HTC.

I guess that HTC went with the "if something isn't broken don't fix it" moto, cuz the only major improvement is the camera.

Is the power button squashed or something?

the only think us htc m9 fans can hang onto is the spigen case picture. If you look at their pictures with the cases there is no black bar the the bezels are pretty small the front facing speakers are redisigned and thats all I need.

Sorry to burst your bubble guys but shown is known to do this, they are restricted and prohibited to release or leak the actual images of the up and coming mobile phones, it would defeat the purpose if unveiling it at the MWC.
Look what they did with last year's Galaxy s5
They thru everyone off on purpose to think Samsung had finally ditched the home button....
But no..
Right after the unveiling they quickly replaced the image with the accurate one. After all, all they really need are he sizes and the shape of the device, the font doesn't matter, it could look like mickey mouse and all they talk need to do is show off the case... the front has nothing to do with the case, the front camera or speakers have nothing to do with the case.... Nothing...

Hmm.... they didn't put attention to detail in this one. Check out the differences..
Well, what might actually be the case here is the picture on the left (the camera app) is actually taking the photo, the picture on the right is viewing the photo in the gallery app so the space on the top which would be the supposed bezel would simply be extra space as the picture isn't full screen.
Take that with a grain of salt, because that whole commercial doesn't really feel that 'professionally done'. It could just be graininess but when watching the screen you can almost tell that some cgi work was done on it.
Based on the this link from amazon the black bar with the HTC logo is gone
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spigen®-MET...TF8&qid=1424885797&sr=8-2&keywords=htc+one+m9
if it is true, is a good step forward!
LOL i don't think thats the phone, and well spotted with the difference, the smile and no smile on the phone screen, fail
Get real guys that's the M9,not saying there won't be a ultra version also but that's the M9

We're talking about the photo being different. The photo they zoom in on has obviously been retouched and was not taken with the M9 straight out of the camera.
