Misleading title, yes wm 6.5.3 is available, but not for the Toshiba TG01, it's not even in the list.

well if you leave a comment asking for tg01 to get into the poll ,and then vote for tg01, then there might be a chance these guys will try get this running on TG01

Hi everybody,
i just found this http://www.htc.com/www/press.aspx?id=103534&lang=1033
If you scroll down a little bit you'll find:
HTC Sense
Built on a culture of innovation and a passion to enhance peoples lives, HTC shapes the mobile experience around the individual. Debuting on the HTC Hero and available on all new HTC devices moving forward, Sense delivers on three basic principles: Make it Mine, Stay Close and Discover the Unexpected.

Looks promising but I think it would be a while before you would see this on a WM device
I bet that 90% of the cooked HD-roms will contain that interface within the next 6 months
And it looks very promising
greetz
It is new UI for Android OS, HTC loves to make UI for different OS
Windows Mobile ==> Touch FLO 3D
Android ==> HTC Sense
I love it's analog clock
I want it

Did your preview ROM (released as a preview around the 16th june) is built using Manila or is it a WM version of HTC sense ?
I used it a few hours and was very nice
Yep
That would be also cool if htc would make a plugin system for manila (on futur htc sense) like on WM6.5 main interface to make it easy to develop new tabs (I want a twitter tab )

hey, just ordered a blackstone a few days ago... and saw HTC sense today. I just want it! what do you think, will HTC sense be available for the blackstone too?
just read the posts above, maybe it will be available, maybe there will be a new WM touchflo version... in your opinion, should I leave my order, buy a blackstone and hope for HTC sense made available for it, or should I wait for more HTC sense devices like the hero?
a really really hard decision!
thx!
This is another reason why we need Android on the HD. HTC Sense is so much more fluid and finger friendly.
absolutely. this is a MUST HAVE. can't imagine better then HD with sense...
LOL - Talk about wishful thinking.
HTC no longer support the Touch HD, theres no way you're going to see such an update for it.
would be interesting where you've read/heard/got that info? I just read an article, John Wang: "HTC Sense will be available for Android AND Windows Mobile devices in the near future." (tecchannel.de, in german)

[OUTDATED] HTC Confirmed WM7 coming to HD2

i assume we can end all speculations now as to whether HD2 will receive Windows Mobile 7 Upgrade. here are the sources
http://wmpoweruser.com/?p=11753
Quote "Great news for current and future HTC HD2 owners! HTC has confirmed, via their official Russian twitter channel, that the HTC HD2 will be getting an official Windows Mobile 7 upgrade."
http://pocketnow.com/rumor/htc-confirms-that-hd2-gets-windows-mobile-7-on-twitter
Quote "We just got an interesting news tip pointing to the HTC Twitter account from Russia. The tweet mentions that the only HTC device currently on the market to receive a Windows Mobile 7 upgrade will be the HD2. And we've suspected this for a while, considering that the HD2 meets Microsoft's hardware requirements for Windows Mobile 7. Here's what they said:
for Diamond 2 firmware is not planned. Of the existing communicators on the market, only the HD2 firmware to get WM7."
http://msmobiles.com/news.php/8865.html
Quote "will HTC HD2 - the first Windows Mobile phone with multitouch - get official upgrade to Windows Mobile 7?
Yes, it will be announced shortly after Microsoft will announce Windows Mobile 7 to the public."

Windows mobile 7 will be released at the end of 2010. If i'm not wrong. So i guess most of HD2 users will be looking onto a brand sexiest new HTC device.
!
I think the HD2 is powerful enough and sexy enough to be on the top even at the end of 2010.
Also, with the talented chefs in this site we will see the WM7 on our device long before it is officially released. To me thats a win win deal

From what i see, the only limitation HD2 will face is the built in storage. most of us are already aware of the fact that the internal storage, though quoted 512MB from the specs, only 150MB+ is available to the end user, whereas WM7 specs require at least 1GB. the rest of the components are already ahead of time. the best android device in 2010 is only on par in terms of specs with HD2.

With this particular spec issue, should we expect that memory limitation to cause problems for the ROM chefs attempting to port WM7 to the HD2 in 2010?

Awesome news, I am glad I didn't buy N900.
Probably not as we can assume that the HD2 will also be on the list of test (and demo) devices HTC will be distributing to their techs and testers.
Same goes for Microsoft, they'll need some kind of hardware to test their builds on. Sure they'll have test devices of the unreleased kind also but you can't really use those in public
my point being, if the winmob 7 beta's start leaking, I expect them to be coming with full support for our HD2's since the beta will most likely be ripped off of one to start with.
my 2 cents

Heh, you know what I meant.
Maybe I am wrong but want is the point of having a new windows mobile 7 on our phone if we are just going to be use the excellent HTC Sense UI? Its like when titanium came out, the majority of chose to use Sense/TouchFlo as it was better in terms of eye candy and function. Windows mobile 7 will I guess have new menus and finger friendliness just like 6.5.3 but Sense will still cover up the majorty of Windows mobile 7 UI/OS. Do you get what I am trying to say here? I doubt it would be so amazing for me to disable Sense. I love Sense.

Now that TG-01 is xda member...

Is it going to get some expirienced rom developer and phone cracker? I would really enjoy being able to flash new roms.... So that's my petition! Crack the rom flashing system!
Now that TG-01 is xda member
we broke the enigma code
think TG01 should be easier, if xda developers are up to a challenge!
even the ps3 has been decrypted come on guys
I wonder how popular is this phone with the developers?
i would be more then happy to donate a reward to the person/team who crack tg01 to get custom roms working it what this phone needs i bet there are devs more then capable of it
I for one would love the TG01 to have the ability to have custom roms on! I'm near enough at the end of my tether with the software on this phone its absolutely terrible. Who knows how long its going to be before Orange decided to roll out the mysterious update from toshiba that fixes the call noise problems etc...think its going to be a while anyway!
So any form of development on this phone would be a god send from what is out there just now and at the end of the day £150 in the UK for the fastest phone on the market is phenominal value!!
I've never bothered looking into the decryption of phones but I think I might when I've got time have a look into it to try and help out
Hope you guys of this wonderful xda developers team can take a look to tg01 and bring us the opportunity to have some new rom ! Thanks in adv.
If they do manage to crack and flash custom roms on the TG01, would it be possible to have HTC running apps/software on it? thanks
you are all dreaming you will not see any thing useful in xda the concentration is on htc devices
yes and dreams come true for some hopefully its possible, this device is quite awesome especially if it had custom roms

Salut la compagnie !
Having bought my French TG01 second-hand, with WinMo 6.5 + Orange overlay, I've desimlocked it, because I'm a Bouygues customer. Now, I would really like to get rid of all the Orange additions which seem to gum up the works.
Interestingly enough, a few minutes ago, I tried to get on the Toshiba France site to see whether they are now offering downloads of unbranded WinMo 6.5, and I couldn't even find the Toshiba Mobile/TG01 page any longer. Did I not look hard enough ? Or has Toshiba abandoned the TG01 ?
Thanks to all !

The cup is half full or half empty. Based on the respons from HTC, the title of your post might as well be " htc hd2 might get WinMo 6.5.3 as upgrade from htc"
This kind of question never gets answered, neither positive neither negative. Meaningless.
Honestly, 6.5.3 was made JUST for devices like the HD2. If they don't give it WM7 they have to give it 6.5.3. In any case, i don't care, i am running 6.5.3 either way. Only issue is the dialer, which at one point they will fix on another device anyways!

Dear customer,
Thank you for contacting HTC.
The HTC HD2 was made to support Windows Mobile 6.5 and released as such. I am a technical support operative, charged to check if your phone has any problems, try to repair them remotely by giving you instructions, and in case I fail, eventually have it returned to the factory for physical repairs.
I cannot get any information related to the development of the HTC HD2 operating system at this time, as I'm not a developer and do not have proper clearance to escalate this issue and ask, and I honestly do not give a damn.
If we do plan to provide upgrades to a newer version of the operating system, then I cannot know at this time. Maybe we do. Maybe we don't. For more information about this issue, please buy a plane ticket to Taoyuan, Taiwan, and ask our headquarters directly.
[Insert propaganda about how HTC is always doing its best to satisfy the customer's needs]
Best regards.

That's true, but 6.5.3 will be a super incremental upgrade so there is some hoping. 6.5 itself was a stopgap, so 6.5.3 can't be anything more than something incremental that any other company like Apple or Palm would provide OTA for free.
They never even announced 6.5.3, right? It just sort of started appearing on devices about two weeks ago.
I'm hoping the next ROM update for the HD2 might be 6.5.3... I haven't been able to find a truly clean ROM here, even the lite ROMs seem to have a few extra things 'snuck' in. A clean and official 6.5.3 with the simple black theme like the HD Mini has would be great for me.
Anyway, WP7 isn't coming out for another 10 months at least and doesn't seem like the HD2 will get a successor until then either... would really be nice of HTC if they didn't abandon their flagship (WM) device already. Give us 6.5.3 please, it's basically just finishing what 6.5 started.

Is HTC waiting for the US release before we get a new ROM
