Size of file "HTC-QuietlyBrilliantBoot.wav" - HD2 General

Can one of you kind people tell me the size of the file "\Windows\HTC-QuietlyBrilliantBoot.wav"?
I've done a cab that replaces it with a "silent but tiny" one (to kill the bootsound), but if the original's not that big then I'll do a cab that gets rid of it from the registry instead (so we've still got the original file on our devices).
Thanks in advance

So far, over 20 people have read this and not 1 can just check a file size for me???

It's 861.53KB (882210 bytes).

861~4 KB

Cheers guys. Guess I'll leave the cab the way it is then.
Thanks

I already have a cab that disables this?

Any chance you could place a link to your cab in this thread John?

Cheers mate.
I was considering redoing it so it just edits the registry to stop the bootup sound, but since the wav file is nearly a meg in size, I've decided that the one that's already out there is better as it frees up some ROM. Not much, admitedly, but "every little helps"
Edit:
Here's a link for the cab file...

Cheers guys.

cab runs fine, normal HD2 boot up now!!

Hello,you can also use advanced config tools to disable boot sound . I try to find how to listen the entire wav sound when the phone starts .When i listen HTC-QuietlyBrilliantBoot.wav with media player , it's longer than the boot wav ...

This crappy sound vanished on my phone without any tweak... The only thing, that could be responsible for that is a reg-tweak that disables the sounds while changing the volume... well, I'm not missing that crappy sound - it sounded like an old GameBoy

HTC-QuietlyBrilliantBoot.wav
can you guys share the file, i dont have it on the Topix 3.5

**Note to self to download cab**
I didn't have the boot up sound on 1.44 but when i went to 1.66 it was there!
It also cuts out slightly as it writes 'brilliant'
Does anyone elses do that (or did that)

Change all 3 Default Keyboard Slider Sounds on the HTC T-Mobile Wing

replace all 3 sounds
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a zip file to replace all 3 default sounds on your wing. Just unzip, copy and paste these into the window directory on your phone thru ActiveSync and replace the default sounds.
You can rename all three
HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound......
0 = change to "Star Trek Door"
1 = change to "Whistle"
2 = change to "Transformers"
Enjoy !!!!!!
hi i tried this and its giving me an error saying make sure u have enough memory or its not overwrite protection or something like? iam not sure wat iam doin wrong can u help please
not sure
I tested these sounds on my phone. Just unzip, copy, then paste them into your windows directory on your wing. It should just ask you if you want to overwrite the ones already there.
If you are having Memory problems maybe you change your Pagepool size to 6.
Memmaid is also a really good program to free up memory or manage your memory.
try this
Try to copy and paste each sound into windows one at a time instead of all 3.

if it's an issue of write protection try using a different file explorer like TC to change the permissions of that file. Then rename it so the file names are the same and it should allow you to replace the one in the windows folder with this edited one.
I'm not sure about you guys but I can't stand the sliding sounds... this is the first thing I turn off everytime I do a reset...but hey thats just me

"teem tum.... toom teem" over and over!!
so i installed the sounds and i get the star trek sound
i looked everywhere to find out where to change or turn off the sounds
im using touch it 2.3 and i swore i fiddled with it before the update

There should be a box you uncheck in settings/sliding keyboard.
Found this new one -- made it my third one
This one is really cool. When you open your keyboard you hear a lock and load of a gun. Close it and it fires a gunshot. Its funny.
I've found the way to add the sounds instead of overwrite them. Here the registry changes:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound]
"ActiveSlidingSound"=dword:00000003
"SlidingSoundEffect"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\4]
"out"="Tr_out.wav"
"in"="Tr_in.wav"
@="Transformers"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\3]
"out"="Slider0_out.wav"
"in"="Slider0_in.wav"
@="Star Trek"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\2]
@="Xylophone"
"out"="2_out.wav"
"in"="2_in.wav"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\1]
@="Piano"
"out"="1_out.wav"
"in"="1_in.wav"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\0]
@="Wind Chimes"
"out"="0_out.wav"
"in"="0_in.wav"
0,1 and 2 were the original sounds. I added 3 and 4...
This works on a Herald with Touch IT...
Gentlemen,
I was successful at tweaking the registry and adding a folder to use the transformer sound but when I add my own wav sound, it does not work. Any info ????
it works fine love the gun one THANKS
Still cant get it
Can someone please give me some more in depth instructions? I cant find the folder to save the sounds to. I dont know how to make it copy to the correct folder when I sync. Any help?

Are you using Windows Vista to Sync Up to your phone?
(Vista hides the windows folder on your phone)
No im using Xp with SP2. I know reading the manual would have prolly helped in all this, but for now Im just concerned with the slider sounds. So if anyone has the time and patience to give me a bit of a dumbed down short walk thru to either sync the wavs for the slider sound, or to copy the files into the phone from SD card that would be great.
Thanks for the reply and any other help I can get.

Did you download ActiveSync 4.5 from Microsoft?
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/4/6/5467c040-a935-4987-aa30-5dcbc36a57db/setup.msi
First, you need to install Activesync to your PC, then sync up your phone to where it says connected.

So with this new activesync are there just more options for the sync? Does it open up a sounds, or slider sounds file? I also keep gettin an error msg when try to download it. It is supost to be run on my pc and not the wing correct? Isnt there an easier way to copy the modified sounds from my SD card straight to a folder? And where is the directory....I cant seem to find it.
Thanks

Also, I think I may have already had 4.5 on my pc which is where the error msg was coming from. I uninstalled and then reinstalled. Im gonna get into that fat wing user manual and try to learn more about active sync. in the mean time if there is anyway to copy it from my SD to a folder that would be a big help.

Try the following:
Search your music database for a folder with write protection enabled. Disable this write protection and see if this fixes issue.
Manila player needs write permissions to these audio folders, because manila puts a hidden cover art file in each audio folder: hTC_AM_AlbumArt.jpg
Hope this helps...
Solution from vBoedefeld
same issue for me too.
this solution did not work
Hmmm. Okay, what can we do alternatively?
Anybody here to help us?
I think this bug is because of the writing protection which can not be disabled for an unknown reason!
Was doing some fiddling last night (as mentioned in another thread) and it, for me at least, appeared to be a problem with the program a mp3 was compressed with.
All my lame mp3s work fine but as soon as I copy one which dbpoweramp says was compressed with FHG all mp3s stop after a few seconds.
thanks!

How to disable hd2 bootup sound

Hi .. bro
How to disable hd2 bootup sound in new rom 1.66
thank you...
Please change the terrible title of this thread to something appropriate. When you edit, you need to "go advanced".
Attached is a cab that removes the hideous HTC bootup sound
Thanks to Shawn_230 for the original version that I simply modified with a streamlined wave file.
thanks a lot for this helpful file
can we make it with CeRegEditor ?
Yes, but it leaves the wav file on the device, which takes up space. Just use the cab, or delete the file.
oki john !
thx

Interesting.
You could always set the registry value to that of a file that you do want to play at startup. That should do the trick.
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation\StartupWav
Let us know how you get on

Just a word of advice... You'll need quotes around the filename, if it has any spaces in it, or it won't work.
\Storage card\StartupSound.wav will read as \Storage and stop at the space.
You'd need "\Storage card\StartupSound.wav"

It probably does. And I'd imagine it probably has to be the correct format of wav file (sample rate, bit depth, channels).
Can you post the original one here for me? I've deleted it with my cab, so I can't have a look at it. Actually, can you do that and the transformers sound you want to use?
ok i've managed to change the .gif on startup
cant seem to get the original sound off my device

Ah don't worry about it. It was just a thought. It would be nice to be able to implement some kind of software changer for this new "feature" they've added. I don't think it's that wise though since the thing stutters anyway!
Sorry mate. I've had a play about and can get wav files to play at startup, but they all sound really bad. The stutter in playback makes all of them useless, and you need to leave a gap at the beginning or it misses the first part of the sound, and it just stops abruptly so you've only got a set amount of time for anything to play.
The whole bootup sound thing just isn't working right. It's not worth persuing until HTC sort it (if they bother).
I've attached the transformers sound you linked, so you can try it yourself, but I doubt you'll like the result.
Thank you..
Transformer sound bite, they missed the best one:
"Hey! That Hurt!"
"It's supposed to hurt! It's an ass kicking!"

Cheers John.
I prefer not to use cabs though as i like to know exactly what i am doing when tweaking and would prefer not to decompile the cab to see exactly wtf is going on!
I take it that cab replaces the wav file all together?
If you didnt want to do this you can simply go to:
HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation\StartupWav
and edit the name of the wav file in that key ( i added a character to its file name so it would be easy to change back if needed.)
was just looking for your post! does it work properly? the stuttering tone at the mo is a tad annoying!!

Yeah, tell me about it! What's the point of putting a startup sound if it stutters? It makes the whole device look cheap right from its first powerup.
All my cab does is replace the wav file with a tiny silent one, therefore saving precious ROM space. It works fine for me, and I've not had any complaints so far.
Where is startup tone located?
Hi
Could someone tell me which folder the startup tone is located? I wanted to replace it with my own wav.
Thanks

[Q] Sound, vibrator issues with wp7

As mentioned in the subject. Am new to wp7 on hd2. Wanted to know if there is any way I can stop my hd2 going haywire vibrating every time i click on a folder in touch explorer or registry editor or advanced config ..etc ..etc. etc .... And is there anyway I can increase the lousy in call volume..Its really getting to be an issue...I can hardly hear or make myself be heard while talking on the phone which kinda screws up the point of having a cell in the first place.... Why are there no options for editing the in call volume , media volume and ringtone separately as in android??? Help will be appreciated ... Thanks
