we have now had a few users out there who have rooted their Cliq, and apparently there are a few ways of going about the process. the link below will take you to theDudes post, and im sure you will find other individuals with other methods if you search through the thread.

As i do not have a moto cliq in my possession i would not be able to tell you if this is true or not. but to any users out there that DO have access to a Cliq, and are willing to test this. (just in case someone out there hadnt seen it)

Its true. I have a Cliq and I rooted it last night. There are two methods to root. One is by Demoshadow and one is by TheDudesAndroid. Both seem to be based on the same idea. They came out about the same time. TheDudesAndroid is actually a little easier to do and the files can be downloaded faster. You posted TheDudes version here. Yah, its true, and apparently it will work with the Dext as well. Its STILL very raw though. And could possibly brick your phone. May be best to wait a a few days for it to be cleaned up and tested more. Still some risk with it. No flashable update.zip as of yet. Also, they are working on porting Cyanogen's Rom to the cliq and a Nexus One rom. And someone got the NexusOne boot screen running on it.

This root proccess is different from what we are used to. I actualy rooted mine last night. Spent some time following the M3 forum for awhile and it was no easy task. If we were all "genius'" here why weren't we able to do it? I'm not trying to bash but we need to work together on this and not make anyone feel inferior.

The root process is quite different - and I think that there is a lot to learn from the original thread http://modmymoto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=525915&page=35 starting ~page 35.
The method to flash a custom image was put together by Skrilax_CZ and was the crucial breakthrough for the device. TheDude got 'su' working.

Well,once their is some roms ported/made for the CLIQ ,I think,with the right people,may pass the G1 in terms of roms/hacks.
Got root on my cliq
I followed The Dudes version and had no issues at all getting root. It only took me about 20 mins. I can't wait to see where this goes next. Love the cliq been waiting for root!!
So far everything works for me the same as before no FCs no apps not installing or running.

hey after you root the cliq does it still have motoblur?
Where is Cyan or Haykuro? Time to create some ROMs. I need 2.0 pls!
to my knowledge the ROM provided after rooting, is the same ROM. with SU enabled. am i correct in saying this?

Woot. I posted all necessary files and tutorial up on my site. Enjoy! Now all we need is APPS2SD and some speed mods and we'll be all set. This is the official TMO Rom so everything is the same, except you have root.

yes you still have motoblur.. but with root.. all i need now is app to sd and wifitether... i dont really care for hero rom ... or any other slow rom.
cant open rsd lite for some reason
I am running 32-bit windows xp and i downloaded rsd lite v4.5.7 .msi but when i try to run it on my pc it just opens a title bar that says "rsd lite" nothing else shows up. No option to install at all. A little help would be appreciated. Im kinda a noob at this. I work for tmobile and im so tired of the original os on my cliq, too many bugs. Thanks for the help.
kinda got an issue here, i rooted the cliq and everything worked fine following the dude's method, but the deal is that i did user metamorph ad basically screwed the phone, not sure if the theme fails or something, i'm currently unable to flash the phone with rdslite, i was trying to update or flash via update.zip or reseting to factory from the default recovery.img but no look :S..... and ye i know, no nandroid backup installed that's my bad

Had my Droid 1 now for about 7 months, love it, but have always wondered about rooting. Finally did it last night with this great, easy method via Android Forums and Droid Forums - way to root FRG22D without downgrading first, using SDK, Motorola drivers, and rageagainstthecage. Long story short, unless I've missed something, what I have now is stock FRG22D rooted.
Question from this noob is - Are there themes for stock, rooted FRG22D or do I have to load something like Cyanogen or Bugless in order to get any other themes at all?
Apologies if I'm totally missing the boat here...
Load cm6 there are tons of themes, and the rom rules. I'm sure you'll love it as much as i do.

I new to the Droid X and i love it and its fast but is there anyway we can get a full root and when? If i am mistaken i am still aware that the boot loader on our phones are locked, anyone know how that development is coming along as far as the unlocking of the droid x bootloader? i heard it was encrypted

Why cant i download .zip or any other variation of such files with the exception of apk and mp3 ect...?
Why cant we put htc evos boot loader on the x instead of using motos they are in essence the same phone minus a front facing camera? that would solve all the rom flashing issues because we gotta go through alot just to flash a rom on the dx im just sayin but if only we could replace the motos bootloader with htc bootloader with the s off then essentaily we could keep the stock rom on the phone as a custom rom and let the development begin as far as the droid x goes.
The reason i raise these concerns is because It pains me to see the DX community so weak here on xda im just trying to get some answers that im sure everyone is thinking as well.

I have a desire hd and have rooted and flashed a custom rom (LEEDROID) and i am new to all of this. All i know is that rooting my hd has made it quicker and now i have overclocked it the phone runs awesome. Now i am curious as to what else i can do with it now. Any tips, hacks or apps would be appreciated or anything to customize my hd anymore. I am also new to this site and must appologize if this topic has come up before. thanx guys and girls

Whatever you want. I suggest trying different roms, mess around with boot animation and try overclocking/underclocking.
ALWAYS back up first with clockwork recovery. (When you do this your phone can be restored to exactly how it was before you tried.).
Find what's right for you. The best thing I like aboot rooting is raising two fingers at the supplier and manufacture for putting unnecessary branding on it, then customising it and proving it's mine and I can do what I like.

no probs mate. I am new to this all myself and have only had my desire 2 weeks now. I started by reading up on rooting on here (xda) and downloaded VISIONary to start. Plenty of guides are available on here or theunlokr.com which can show u what to do. Good luck and don't brick the phone
I'm pretty experienced with flashing for the Charge but the X baffles me since it's Motorola(the locked bootloader and all). I want to root/ROM my dads X because he's been sitting on the sluggish stock for WAY too long, he's just not very tech savvy so he can't get his phone rooted.
I'd very much appreciate an informative guide. Keep in mind on the Charge we get root via flashing CWM in Odin, then flashing the kernel.zip in CWM(installing a ROM is the same way), so I would appreciate someone letting me know what I would have to do differently.
I want to get my dad on either CM7/Liberty/MIUI(I've never used any of these ROMs but from what I've heard MIUI is the best, then Liberty and finally CM7, but your opinions are very much welcome) with a full debloat & root.
