[HOWTO] Enable Landscape on Mega (Touch 2) - Touch2 General

Enable Landscape:
1. Use a regedit and head to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation\" and open "HideOrientationUI".
2. Change "Value Data" to "0" from "1".
3. PowerOff and PowerOn again your Phone.
Set Landscape to "Answer" button:
1. Go to "Start/Settings/Personal Folder" and run "Buttons".
2. In "Program Buttons" tab at "2. Assign a program" select "<Rotate Screen>" and you are done.
After these, every time that you hold the "answer" button screen will rotate from portrait to Landscape and vice versa…
Additional Parameter for Landscape (thnx to "alex_lynx"):
1. Head to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GDI\Rotation\" and open "LandscapeMode".
2. Change "Value Data" to "1". Turn screen to left (Default is "4" = Turn screen to right).

You must use registry editor.

or Advanced Configuration Tool app

It is mean that I need to install registry editor into phone? Where can I get the application?

Yes. You chave to install registry editor or advanced config in your phone.
I think uncle google will help find them.

advanced configuration tool:
http://www.touchxperience.com/en/advanced-configuration-tool/downloads.html
totalcmd can edit registry:
http://www.ghisler.com/pocketpc.htm

After i couldnt install the Configuration Tool i found a App as CAB and edited the Registry and it worked.
Im german and my mistake was to search for "rotate" that was not in the menü.. When i scrolled up there was a "rotate Screen" in german and then it worked.

to access your windows mobile registry you can use CEregistryEditor by mdsoft.pl instead, it runs from your PC via the USB / MS activesync, so you can use your keyboard and big TFT screen to search and edit, make bookmarks, do comparing, backup, softreset, etc

I using CEregistryEditor, but it error cannot over write value data. What should I do?

Use other RegEditor.
I recomend Schap's Registry Editor or PHM Registry Editor.

This was one of the main issues of the phone.
I have a question, does it work with the keyboard as well?
Can you write in landscape, on a bigger withed keyboard?

[new release] VJSmallIcons

This program is used to shrink the icons in the Programs explorer in Pocket PCs.
It's WM5 and WM2003 compatible.
Note: it only works once, until you change folder. So assign it to a hardware key.
Note: you must launch "programs" once before use; it will complain if you don't.

Works great on my Qtek9100
I'm using VJSmallIcons.exe 2
Post a screenshot!
V
Of course here it is :
Great work,
i have created a shortcut in the programs folder, because i dont want it to map to a hardware-button. i renamed the link to 1vjsmallicons.lnk to get in just pretty first in the list of programs.
If i enter the programs folder i press on the shortcut and the menu is small.
But two issues:
1. if i small the icons and wlak through the list of programs i get in the second column of the list. The first column disappears and there is no way to get back. I use a qtek 9100
2. If i call the programs folder again all the icons are just small. So as if it remembers to the first call (bug or feature). Furthermore i get to the column where i have left the program menu folder.
Topcaser, what command line are you using?
VJSmallIcons only changes the current explorer screen. It doesn't try to change any others, so when you go into a subfolder it will go back to normal. The small icons can be made more permanent, but it would require more programming that I haven't had time to do yet...
V
I am using no option, just calling the program via a link.
btw, how can i specify an option?? And what is the sense of this option 0-4
Is it the number of cols?
And what about the second issue: i can never scroll back to the first column, once it was gone. (also with the control panel not)
topcaser: the command line 0 to 4 will change the view style, in exactly the same way as you have on your PC: large icons, small icons, details, listview etc. Just try them out!
Not sure about the contrl panel issue? Could you try to send a screenshot? Use MagicSS if you don't already have a screenshot program.
V
Hi,
i have posted two pics: the first shows a blue mark over snap tool. At the second one i pressed the left button to get to the most left column again. But the screen does not follow this markation.
A second question: how am i able to specify the comand line option?
topcaser:
I don't have my phone with me today, I'll have a play with it a bit later. Are the pictures the wrong way round as you describe them? I can only see the blue selection mark in the second picture.
For the command line, read here

Yes you are right. My mistake. Sorry
Topcaser, using the settings shown in the screenshot, have you tried going up to the top, instead of left? It depends which command line option you're using, but try it just in case.
V
This dont works also.
Hi VJ,
i have played around with your tool. Command line option 2 and 1 works perfect. But the best way to use it is with command line option 3. Forget Small Menu - one can use only your little app (maybe together with Mortbutton and Mortscript) - it can do the same as SmallMenu. Together with MagicButton one misses no feature at all.
Unfortunately the command line option 3 has the bug which i described above. Have you fixed this already?
Topcaser, unfortunately if there's a bug in the view, I can't really fix it. I don't do anything other than change the view style of the "listview" control that the programs menu is based on. So it's very simple. But the programs menu is not designed to have its view changed, so if it's buggy, I can't help it very much. I'll try to have another look though, someone on brighthand was complaining about making the programs menu small, and I think it might be possible to make this program resident so that it kind of retains the settings.
But this is a small program, and others have to be fixed first I'm afraid. I will try to have another look.

cant set Phone Pad as default input method

I tried to set the Phone Pad as the default input method by following the instructions here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=WM5_Tweaks_Other
Set default SIP
The default SIP on practically every device is the Keyboard. You may prefer entry with a different SIP. If so, you can set this to be the default SIP through:
HKCU\ControlPanel\SIP\DefaultIM = |SIP ClassID|
The |SIP ClassID| will depend on the SIP's ClassID, which may vary per-device. You can find the correct ClassID by searching for "IsSIPInputMethod" in HKCR, then going to the top key and checking the name of the SIP that's in the (Default) value.
Please note that this doesn't work with all SIPs. Transcriber/Calligrapher are two examples of this.
You can, however, set Transcriber as the default SIP by starting Transcriber.exe on startup. (This should be moved to, or added to, non-registry Tweaks page)
WARNING: Do not assume that the below ClassIDs would be -as found- on your device! Setting it to a non-existant SIP may prevent your device from booting up!
Howevere, when I did a soft reset, the screen turned white which means that the settings did not work and I hard to hard reset. Is there any other way to get Phone Pad to be the default SIP.
Have you tried Sipchange?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=56053&highlight=sipchange
search the registry for "Phone Pad" to find the classID to make sure what you put in is correct. the wiki just assumes what the class id is from previous wm5 phones.
i realised that sometimes i am unable to select Phone Pad. any of you facing the same problem too?

There are 2 phonepad CABs here, english and international versions.
@vapor:
yeah, I'm working on a version of SIPChange that will set and manage its own startup shortcut as well as allow you to change the default timeout. Getting the startup shortcut correct is one of the biggest headaches with my little app... I haven't had a lot of free cycles to devote to it lately though.
don't edit registry. it will need hard reset.
use program sipchange 1.1 or phoneAlarm
SIP need to set every reboot that bill gate brain.

Can you change the default Google search on the TF3D internet tab?

Anyone know how to change the default Google search on the TF3D internet tab from google.com/m to google.co.uk/m or google.co.uk? Is this a registry editor tweak as I can't find where to change it in the opera:config tweak?
Thanks.

This is not a registry setting, but set in the default htm-file loaded by Opera upon start: \windows\htc-opera.htm
Edit the file to the URL you want to have the search done:
[line 46]:
<form action="http://www.google.com/search?q=" method="get">
to e.g:
<form action="http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=" method="get">
ATT: the file is write protected, so you'll have to remove this before editing.
MeCry
Umm, its a registry edit for me.
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila
dword=InternetSearchUrl
to get it to what you want, put in the url you want in your PC browser, search for something, & then get copy whatever url it has. For instance, I have mine set the cab i made to go to "http://www.google.com/m/search?q=". that way it just adds whatever you search for on to the end of that string & inputs it to Opera.

Yes perfect!
I've been looking through the registry and the .hmt files for days.
Now finally the O2 start page is gone!
THX!
On the Verizon Touch Pro 2 you will need to use the registry editor of your choice and go to registry key:
HKCU/Software/HTC/Manila
dword=InternetSearchUrl
"The registry is in the \\Plugins folder at the top of the root directory" Just hit the \ button at the top right of Total Commander til you see the directory then click on the directory and then the Registry directory in it.
Replace the bing.com in this key:
www.bing.com/search?q=%s
with the search engine of your choice.
For the mobile formatted Google it would look like this:
http://www.google.com/m/search?q%s
For the desktop formatted Google it would be:
http://www.google.com/search?q%s
Mobile Google looks much cleaner and it is the one I suggest. This should work for pretty much any search engine though, for the two people still using Yahoo and Ask.
Do not forget the %s at the end. It is needed on this phone or it will only bring up the search engine without the search.
This will change the search from within the Touchflo search box and the search box in the stock built in Opera Browser. I did not try Internet Explorer or any other browsers but suspect they would require a different registry key to be changed.

Shortcut (or app) for opening the control panel?

Thank you very much. It works, and the functionality is great.
The only problem is it seems to have been made for lower resolution screens. The icons look a little bigger that they should, and most importantly, the font size seems to be twice larger than it should.
Is there a way to tell the thing to use smaller font?
Thanks.
Yes you can use Reshacker ( on your computer ) and rezize the icon by editing the exe .

No, I mean control panel applets inside the Settings window have 2x the normal size font, and slightly larger icons. I don't care about the icon size that much, but the huge fonts are a little annoying/hard to read ("Advan..." instead of "Advanced Network").

If you mean to open a control panel applet in charge of backlight settings, this is quite easily done with simple shortcuts. I don't know how to open a particular tab, but the shortcut should read this string:
command line string - "\windows\ctlpnl.exe" cplmain.cpl,3 (on modern devices, I think).
I create shortcuts by this procedure:
1) download and install Total Commander: http://ghisler.fileburst.com/ce/tcmdpocketarm.cab
2)Start Total Commander and browse to \windows\ctlpnl.exe, select ctlpnl.exe, click File/>>>>>>>/Create Shortcut, chose "\" as destination.
3) Browse back to "\", select ctlpnl.lnk, click and hold, choose Properties, go to Shortcut tab, modify Target to look as the command line string I wrote before.
4) Click and hold on ctlpnl.lnk, and choose rename. Rename the shortcut to "Backlight.lnk" or "Power.lnk" or whatever you desire.
5) Select power.lnk, click and hold, choose copy/move, then Tree, navigate to \windows\start menu\programs, do "move".
Now you should have a shortcut to the power applet in the program list. It contains the backlight tabs.

It appears that cplmain.cpl,3 will open powerexe.exe on my Sprint TP2. Using cplmain.cpl,3,2 does not open the backlight tab though. I haven't seen anything on the web about powerexe.exe accepting command line parameters for opening different tabs though.
It's unfortunate when developers, who have a simple and consistent mechanism for doing certain things, decide to change it and lose some functionality at the same time.
well that's weird. I have a telus TP2 and cplmain.cpl,3 doesn't work...scrathes head.
Anyway...

yep, go to the settings tab of Sense and then to the adjustments (the one where you can change the background, tab order etc). At the end you will see Haptic feedback/vibration. Click on that one and untick. Ready

been searching and seaching but not found it yet..
I'm more concerned about battery life of using the vibration motor everytime I'm pressing the screen. I hope the only option isn't to hard reset and go back to Sense (I've tried diabling MS and running sense but I can't get it to run)

Try settings - personal, then input. Then turn to touch input and in options you will find "vibrate when keys are pressed" box. Unclick it that should be it.
And go to settings, then personal, then touch flo and unclick the box.

Hello,
I did try all the above methods: everything is set to off (in settings tab of the Sense, in Advanced settings for Phone, etc) - still the keyboard is vibrating when used.
When using keyboard and pressing the small arrow to select the type of keyboard, I only have Phone, Compact and Full kbds; there is no Options menu, only Text Input Settings that takes me to the default Manila options tab for text input - but in this there is no vibration option (only Symbol lock, Typing sound, Spell correction, Word completion XT9 and Word completion ABC).
Any other idea?
+1 to above.
I have the same items in the menu.
I think it must be stored somewhere in the registry. I searched the registry for "Vibrate" string and the only place I could find one is:
HKLM\Software\OEM\KeyState but there are several values with "Vibrate" string and I don't know which one should I turned off. I don't want to mess anything...
