Need informations about nexus one ! - Nexus One General

Hi, before buy one I need some informations :
What about / is exit :
- FM radio (RDS or not) ?
- a tv out possibility ?
- USB host (snapdragon) ?
- Is it easy to plug bleutooth headset ?
- Can it be use like a 3G modem plugged to my PC under windows or linux ?
So if you have some answers ... thank
Amicaly, in the new year starting

They are working on tethering right now and should have it out really soon.

A lot of these things are in development. It's still too early to tell what this device is capable of. I will say if you don't want or can't afford an IPhone this is your best bet. I have no regrets on spending the $500

-FM Radio chip exists in the phone but there is no software to take advantage of it. If the chip is not locked there will be software out soon on the market.
-Android OS supports TV out and USB also supports it. However there is no accessory out for nexus one yet.
-I have no idea what youre asking here.
-Yes it is easy to plug in a bluetooth headset.
-Tethering is not available out of the box. you need to root the phone to use tethering. Rooting the phone requires voiding your warranty (read about how to root nexus one in these forums)

Few questions (that's a first eh? :D)

My best man got a Jasjar and I spend about an hour with it (but almost no software installed) and was so happy looking at it that I didn't bother to answer my own questions. So here they are if anybody can help:
1) I read WM5 can make devices look like mass storage to connected PC. Is extra software (not third party) to work as USB drive? Has anybody tried connecting to a computer that doesn't have ActiveSync installed?
2) You believe the embeded voice recognition program (that NEEDS training) is better than MS VC? (that doesn't)
3) Read in some reviews it has USB host. Is it mentioned in the manual? Have you connected anything on?
4) Which of the keys are NOT programmable? Which of the main keyboard keys ARE? (I'd love some software for this and for changing the slider functions too)
5) Also read it is USB2. Is USB2 connectivity officialy mentioned somewhere? (package, whatever)
6) So does it have SIR (plain serial infrared 115k), FIR (fast serial infrared 4M) or CIR (serial infrared PLUS ability and strength enough to use as a remote)? (personally I wouldn't care less for FIR and I would love CIR)
7) Do you know of any "vital" extended ROM changes between Universal brands? (maybe early to answer this right?)
8) Heard (in here) about ActiveSync 4.1? Is there such a thing?
9) Is it possible to write or delete some of ext. ROM?
10) If I get new Skype (1.2b from their site for example) will it replace the ROM one? What happens?
11) Can you verify that indeed the device DOES NOT have Widcomm stack? A sad day for PocktPC...
12) So what happens with BT GPS? I am a bit confused. Can the device plain and simply USE BT GPS? Why wouldn't it? It is a stack problem? The GPS applet works or doesn't?
...thank you people for your time, sorry if something is already answered...
I don't have Universal and would not buy this huge and ugly device, but here are several answers:
1. There is a sample driver in PlatformBuilder that can do this. As far as I see Universal does not have it. I've tried to compile it myselfm but it does not work. No time to investigate why.
8. Look on FTP, it is in uploads\Universal
9. Currently not possible. But later it would be possible and even repartitioning program similar to Himalaya/BA can be made.
11. From what I see in dumps it has Microsoft BT stack.

Usb host

Is usb-host function included? Is possible to use this function to connect a pen drive?
USB host is not provided on the Trinity. Some reviews claim the chipsets included are capable of it, but the function was not activated :-(
Almost like buying a car that has V12 but you only get V6 activated... )))
Missing functions: GPS, Radio, USB host...

Nice
HTC would say: "This is our marketing strategy, after a couple of months we start selling the Trinity Pro Advanced Plus which has GPS and USB host. FM radio available soon. So get rid of your old fashioned Trinity and buy our latest model"
So does this mean that a software upgrade that will activate these functions is unlikely? Does one have to buy a brand new device?

Sorry for the confusion, I was only joking about HTC releasing hardware without proper software enabling all the capabilities of the hardware.
HTC will most likely - if they get it working - provide a ROM update enabling GPS functionality.
Nothing known yet wether USB host will wordk or not in the next ROM update.
There is no FM radio chip inside the Trinity so this can't be fixed with a ROM update.
FM radio isn't into Hardware usb host could be interesting Gps isn't much important.

nexus 7 USB radio FM

hello guys I wanted to ask if the nexus 7 support via the USB OTG FM radio
there someone who has tried it?
Yes, certainly!
Just get one of those cheapy RTL2832U based USB DVB-T dongles (they can be as low as £5.60 from eBay - http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?LH_BIN=1&_fcid=3&_sacat=0&_from=R40&_clu=2&_nkw=RTL2832U&_sop=2)
Then download SDR Touch - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=marto.androsdr
You don't even need to root your Nexus 7.
OT: Would it be possible to get some IR dongle from Ebay for applications that need it to work properly on Nexus 7?

And as an added bonus (other than bringing a one year old thread back to life), works as an scanner for aviation, police, HAM radio, CB (with a pinch of luck) and anything else in the ~25mhz to 1 gigahertz range. With a proper antenna, you can even capture weather satellite images.

Installing additional wifi card OTG - Note 4 (WN725N, WF810S). HELP

Hello,
I have a SAMSUNG NOTE 4. For several months I'm trying to install drivers for additional wifi network adapter that connects to the microUSB port . Phone zrootowany etc. , but still can not cope with this wireless card : / First I bought TP - LINK TL - WN725N , then BPI - WF810S and nothing : / I thought that maybe she installs when you connect , but unfortunately it is not. I am writing to ask for help . I care very start on the network adapter and can not I'll be very grateful for your help ... I would ask you to explain exactly how to do this . Today I have Ditto Note 5 (for Note 4 ) , kernel version 3.10.9 .
Please contact,
Regards
Since I've never heard of this before, on any Android forum I've been to, I would assume it's not possible. I don't think you can install any drivers on any smart phone, mainly because it'd have to be written into the current version of the OS on your phone. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure whatever device you try to connect to your phone would have to be plug-and-play. That's why you can't use a blue tooth mouse on an iPad, for example, even though it supports blue tooth devices.

Newish Device - Mod for what purpose?

Ok so I'm just going to 'not' think like a mad scientist for once and await the marvels that I hope a should be unveiled by Someone..
So I got a replica-ish Cast Dongle for ten bucks..
Standard micro USB to hdmi
mira/dlna/airplay support
1 gb ram x2core
Labelled as Aircast.
Noted Rockchip-set.
1. What is the best way to get more info on the hw ki like specific model etc?
2. The ugly landing page at 192168491 does very little and I've so far failed to pair with Win 7 pc
(mirror / bonjour / chromecast) detected nothing.
3. Android WiFi Direct works
4. Bubble / Local Cast sometimes works
5. Android YouTube app doesn't see same with kodi
My question is
What potential does this m6 device have..?
What kind of modifications are popular and safe?
(eg id like to run Kodi direct off this device, is that a possibility?
I basically want to turn it into a set top box / smart TV + mirroring would be bonus)
What's the potential here And where would be a good place to start?)
Never worked with media microcomputer so I'm all ears.
Tia
