Nexus One now Available for Pre Order - Nexus One General

Guys, The news is that Nexus one is now available for Pre order with Free Shipping but the thing is it costs around $999 on google checkout.......

Where did you find this "news"?

URL?

google checkout eh, link

But this isn't the official google page. 1000$ would be stupid, thy won't sell one device. For 530$ I would get one asap.

Is it just for USA or any news on it coming out in the UK too?

as far s I understood google will ship it worldwide

Yes, this dosent seem like a good idea. Also from what I understand the big G will be only one actually selling the phone, legally that is.

acerliquid and nexus root
do they have an acer liquid and nexus root yet!??

this doesnt seem very legit to me. I didn't think the nexus had an fm radio rcvr... The phones listed as "import" not covered by manufacturer.

20 bucks says the seller doesn't even have one yet. They are just hoping to get more money than its worth before they buy one from Google tomorrow.

dont think i would buy from this seller that has only a 5 feedback rating and only registered since oct 09 .... i would stay far far away

Beware! It looks like a scam....

Tried to order one today (UK). But i've not been able to even view any page about the phone, so as usual it seems like you have to know someone to ship it from the US to get hold of them.

When and where?

Does anybody know when and where you can get this phone when it comes out? I called T-Mobile (I know they're not going to sell it, but was hoping for some information) and they knew even less than I did. Everything I have read said you must purchase if from google. $530 with no contract or $180 with a two year agreement and you only have one plan to pick from. The supposed retail date is January 5th. You would think they would have done some sort of advertising or at least have something come up on a Google search.
9AM on the 5th @ google.com/phone is the rumor.

Google is in Mountain View, CA. South of San Francisco. Still in the same time zone as Seattle.
The press conference starts at 10 am, so who really knows. How likely are they to open up sales 1 hour before the conference starts? Actually, I would open up sales today if I was google, and let everyone order but the shipments don't arrive until 10AM the day of the conference.

We have root!!!!!
Stericson and PaulOBrien have successfully rooted the Nexus. Even with the price, this even more of a must buy for me now! http://twitgoo.com/aqr00
I'm more interested in the business model for the N1 in this side of the pond.
How much would it cost in Europe?Who will be selling it?Google or HTC? Which carriers would have it for sale?
So far there aren't any news/leaks/rumors regarding the n1 in Europe, so I guess only at 05/01/2010 we will have the full details.
Wow, didn't take long to get it rooted huh? Instant buy for me. Can't wait for that Android 2.1, AMOLED, 5.0 MP w/Flash, 3.7" screen, and 1GHz Snapdragon Processor. Just can't wait!
it will also be possible to buy it at google.com/phone and ship it to europe. Guys at engadget.com have the full terms of sale wich say that this will be possible. Only thing is you will have to pay taxes and the shipping ... but I don't care bout that, just wanna have that phone ;-)
has anyone read the terms and conditions, it says phone might be 430. hope thats true not the 530 thats a little high

I'd also like to know about European release. Hopefully it will be released with HTC Branding (hey I like to rep HTC )
I don't think the rumours of the webpage are true tbh. Although strangely in the terms they make you agree that you understand the phone is made by HTC and not Google =/
After the press conference details, this will be the hottest device on the market! A must have!!
guys, yall gotta check this out!!!! http://www.engadget.com/2009/12/30/nexus-one-trounces-3d-benchmark-gets-caught-in-high-res-photosh/
oh damn, they removed the 10 min video already!
Nexus One Group on XDA already!!!
Whats all the talk about $29 data SIM about? I wish Google would put some more information out there. I am really looking forward to grabbing one while they're hot.
If it gets released in europe (or ships from usa without tax) i'll sell my iphone and get it asap.

Want to buy the nexus off this site but..

Hi i want to buy the nexus one off this site http://www.cellplususa.com/ but idk if its creditable site or its a scam. I can't find any info from it and I found the site on craiglist. Have you had experience with this site and do you think I should buy? The phone there is only 450.
couldn't find anything on it at resellersratings.com so not so sure it's a legit site.
Here is my suggestion on this:
Ok, research shows that they have not been in business for long at all (like under a week or so).
For this reason, you won't find any information on them.
Are they reputable? Hard to say, but things that would keep ME from buying from them is that their website has absolutely NO contact information at all.
They also don't tell you if the phone is NEW, Refurbished or used. How they are selling them for so much less is beyond me because, as far as I know, Google is not wholesaling them to ANYONE. The only legit way to get it new is through Google's shop.
Just my $0.02...
Ebay is the way...
Hey Sasha
Buy it from Ebay and to make sure its a good deal - go with sellers using PayPal as the payment method.. And if you are lucky - You can actually make a good deal thru ebay...
Good luck... Its a cool phone - Nexus One kicks ass.. ;-)

lol "on sale" yeah ok.
DO NOT buy from there.
What does common sense tell you?
Tells me this site is 100% scam. I love the $10 COD option, though, with a same day delivery guarantee. Someone should test it out!
Sure... But..
The chance to find the phone to the same price as on the google-site will probaly not be easy.. Everyone wants to make money - so you can look everywere - You probaly won't find it anywhere to the same price..
You can make good deals on Ebay trust me..
But good luck with your search

Not enough of a profit margin to make it work TBH, and also, a pain in the but way to get their supply since they will have to get a LOT of people to open and account to get the phone just to cancel.
Either way, I say stay away.

If you guys missed this...
There were people in Hong Kong, one of the four countries (wait...Hong Kong is...whatever) got the head start, complaining that when they received their DHL package it was empty inside. So would there be any chance that some people took those phones and sell them damn cheap...?

Not sure about that, but like I said in my original reply, there is NO contact information on the site whatsoever, who would you call if there was an issue?
Also, if those people that had their go missing reported it, Google could Black-List the ESN's and they would be worthless.
SO not worth the risk...

Cross the Nexus One off your lists

Hey, just to let you guys know if you did not already but the Google Nexus one will no longer be available from google. I know that many of us g1 users are/were thinking about this phone as the replacment for our great htc dreams. It will now sell exclusively from vodaphone. That means no chance to buy one (not second hand) in Canada (and I believe the states either).
You can see for your self at
www.google.com/phone
this sucks because I cannot buy it in Canada AND this will now drive the craigslist prices up!
This is a really strange move on Google's part, to sell exclusively in Europe.

Its a huge pissoff that no carriers try to sign the big name phones.

Free xperia play at google io !

The giveaway took place in the C++/Game Developer panel, which discussed the use of native code in Android applications (games, in particular, are likely to use the NDK as opposed to standard Dalvik). And aside from winning some karma points from developers, Sony’s motivation for handing out the phones are pretty clear: give developers a phone that features the gamepad, and they’re much more likely to make sure their games work flawlessly with it.
http://techcrunch.com/2011/05/11/an...-game-developers-get-free-xperia-play-phones/
Does anyone know if these are carrier unlocked and able to connect to Fastboot? I'm seeing a few popping up on eBay in the $500-$600 range and I think I'm going to take the plunge.
If they're from Sony then they're most likely unlocked phones. I can't imagine them going "here, have a phone, it only works on -network- though"
Thanks. That's what I was thinking.

Excuse me for my ignorant question but is it correct to assume that even though these Google I/O Xperia Play's are unlocked that it's only for SIM and you would still need to use Gingerbreak to get root access right?
I'm asking because I'm in the process of buying one so I want to know how much I need to tinker with it. I also assume I won't need to debrand it and that it is pretty stock no?

From what i could tell on eBay there were a couple CDMA phones.
As well the GSM ones all appear to be the exact same phone as the Canadian one R800a just unbranded so i'd guess root access would have to be done via gingerbreak, however as mine arrives monday i'll update if this is the case.

Lucky you, i ended up at $540 as my timing sux.
Awesome phone at crazy price. I also got the dock and it looks very good.
I got it on ebay for $450 (item number 120725728032) and add a 10% back in ebay bucks as I bought it before the IE9 + Window 7 8% bonus ebay bucks ended. Very sweet deal at $405 + $7 for almost overnight shipping. I think the seller didn't care for much profit and also he didn't mention R800a prominently to get attention.
It's not much thicker than X10 and is actually a little shorter. The four buttons it has should have been on Arc along with the front camera. Will be using it for a week or two before I pass it on to my son while I go back to my Arc.
I have one of these coming tomorrow (ebay, ~$500 shipped). Is there any difference in software compared to the Verizon model? Is it going to be primarily stock 2.3?
This may sound like a foolish question, but, considering these aren't widely available, does everyone think these will get proper updates from SE?
Has anyone gotten the verizon version of one of these phones? I was thinking about grabbing one on ebay before they disappear to use on my verizon account, but wanted to check ahead of time to see if the bootloader on the developer version would be unlockable. Can anyone confirm this?

Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Newegg for $421.03

Newegg just dropped the price of the GSM Samsung Galaxy Nexus (i9250) to $449.99. However, when you combine it with a Simple Mobile sim card ($2.99), you get the combo discount and it drops the price to only $439.48. MOD EDIT: referral links.
Having said that, if you want peace of mind and want to be able to return the phone if need be without extra costs, the Samsung Galaxy Nexus from Amazon, even if it costs a few more bucks, may still be preferable.

I see. How is one supposed to know which phone is which? Does it say on the box?
There are reviewers saying the one from Newegg is a Yakju build.
Also, that a few of them have arrived already opened and seemingly used (no introductory sign-in screen).
Makes me a little wary...

You are welcome. You want yakyu as it is the build that gets the updates first and directly from Google. If your device didn't come with yakyu, you can use the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit from this site to put yakyu on it quite easily. Having said that, the average person will not notice the difference between yakyu and other builds.

You can install an app that will tell you the build info. It will not say it on the box and if you ask the seller, they will likely not know or provide incorrect info.
People on XDA prefer yakyu. Everyone else doesn't care and yakyuxw is not per se bad. Having said that, people on XDA also don't care what it comes with as they can just install yakyu using the Galaxy Nexus Toolkit.

How does the manufacturers warranty from Samsung come into play with these phones being brought from on-line retailers? Is it an American warranty or does it have to be shipped overseas for unforeseen problems?
