HTC HD2 how to disable SMS wake up problem? - HD2 General

Does anybody know how to disable HD2 from waking up upon receiving an sms? I would really love to do this because I carry my HD2 in my pocket. Often I didn't hear that there was an incoming sms and the screen refused to turn off after that due to the sensitive capacitive display which kept on rubbing with my pants.
Thank you in advance

How did you do it on your previous device?
Settings - Personal - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications - New Text Message - uncheck Display on screen.

With my previous device like HTC Touch HD, it didn't auto wake up upon receiving sms.
Secondly, the screen was not capacitive therefore not as sensitive as HD2 and never experienced a problem.
I also have tried your procedure "
Settings - Personal - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications - New Text Message - uncheck Display on screen."
and the problem still persisted.
My HD2 still kept on turning on itself upon receiving an sms.

Im with you on this one, mine always wake up too. Even when using BSB Tweaks

I have the same problem. I can't turn it off.
Danish Rom 1.48

I have this problem as well. Does anyone have a solution?

(bump)
There must surely be a solution to this...?

I have the same problem with my TD2,I already set the following item in registry
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL]
"DisableSMSWakeUpEvent"=dword:00000001
but it don't work.

Install BsB Tweaks (search the forum for it) and there is an option to turn off the wakeup.

Yeah, I already tried that. Didn't help.

Odd... did you reset your device afterwards? Are you sure "SMS Wake Up" is set to off? My mate left it on "on" thinking it was a double negative sort of thing...

Yes, and yes. I even directly checked the registry to make sure it's inserting the right value, and it is; the phone is simply ignoring the registry value.

Got exactly the same problem here too (Stock 1.48.405.2)

I think HTC's latest revision of the SMS hotfix, posted yesterday, may have fixed this problem. Needs a bit more testing to be sure....

I've been running Tom Codon's 1.1 ROM for a couple of days with the BsB tweak applied and my screen stays off (still get notification sound).
I only applied the SMS hotfix today, so it wasn't that. Tom's ROM is 2.02 based, this might have something to do with it working ok.

Yes, after installing the SMS Hotfix, I notice that my phone did not wake up upon receiving a sms anymore which is not happening before the SMS Hotfix.

The hotfix says it is for ROM versions 1.66 and earlier, so later ROM versions presumably already contain it.

My device also doesn't wake on SMS after the Hotfix

i was looking the reverse solucion, because, mine was like yours, but after i installed the hotfix sms "2" ,of 14-01-10 my hd2 dosent wake up no more after reciving a new sms, and i am thinking after i read this to leave it like this..... hope to help with something

Text messages always show bottom of screen first?

I am having a little problem with my text messages. Whenever I get a new message or try to compose one; the screen goes to the bottom and doesn't show the message. I have to slide or scroll up everything when I try to send or read a new message. I am on VP3G's latest rom(check sig for more details), and I don't think this happened before, but I cannot fully remember when it started to happen. Is this a known problem, or better yet, is there something I can do to fix it? Its not that big of a deal, just more of an annoying bug...Are there any registry settings I can do or try another program to fix it?
Since no ones seems to have any answers, what about a Registry tweak? Does anyone know of a setting I could edit or add to make it open messages from the top?
Unsure about the registry tweak, but for a temporary solution, you could just keep your SMS inbox clean so that all messages display on one page, allowing you to see the new one at the top, even though you're at the bottom.
Have you tried staying at the top, then resetting your phone at that moment? Does this happen in Outlook?
Try This
Q: Every time I open a message it goes to the middle/bottom of the message.
A: Install KaiserTweak, and disable D-Pad Scroll Navigation or use Schap's Advanced Configuration Tools and disable 4-way navigation.

The problem isn't the messages in the inbox, its that when I open the message, it goes to the bottom of the message right away, so I can see the actual message, or maybe just the very last line. The same goes for when I try and create a new text message, It goes right to the bottom, and I have to scroll up to see what I am typing.

I have advanced Config from Schaps installed, but 4-way navigation was already disabled...I haven't tried KaiserTweak, will that work for my Hermes, or should I say will it work correctly? If so, then I will try that next...
Thanks for the replies...
You guys are so locked on
I had the problem with the messages going to the bottom. I did the Kaiser Tweak and there are no more problems.
This message board is so locked on to solving issues.
Thanks for all your help.
Hey guys, is there ever any other reason for this to happen? I've tried disabling it in the advanced config and kaisertweak but neither help :/
The only fix I have ever known for that problem, was to disable
the stylus 4 way navigation.

To be clear - you are saying that a fix for this issue (that I have and it's annoying as hell) is to COMPLETELY disable the ability to use the D-pad for navigation???
I'm not bagging on you, but that is completely and totally unacceptable.
Shall we just disable the touch screen to solve some similarly mundane issue??
It shouldn't have to be like that. And we shouldn't have to live with it either.
But that's life I guess.
Other solutions for getting messages to open at the top?

May in fact be a mute point as I changed this feature using both KaiserTweak and the Advance Config and it did not remedy the problem.
I also have the same problem. D-PAD is already disabled. I also don't know when this problem started.
This registry tweak (basically, that's what the aforementioned tweaking tools do) solves the problem for me:
\HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Navigation\4-Way Nav = 1 (DWORD decimal)

Have you guys tried taping the "Arrange By" option on the upper right of the Message window. Choose the "Recieved" option. If you noticed, if you tap it one or more times it will arrange the messages from newest to oldest..

message/mail notification not working

does vibration or popup notification of new messages/new mail work (both active and sleep state) on touch hd?

any ideas?
Same problem here.
It worked sometimes, not it doesnt anymore and I dont know why (perhaps a confict with a program??).
Ascenca
sms notificatian not working anymore.
Same her not working anymore
its a bug that has been there since the HTC Diamond
fix?
anyway to fix it?
Please Help.
I cant live without sms notification!
There is a Registry tweak for the Diamond that fixes this - it should work on the HD too :
HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIn\RIL\DisableSMSWakeUpEvent
set to "1" by default. meaning NO wake up to SMS message
set to "0" to enable wake up
EDIT : This was referenced from a Thread on the Diamond Forum
EDIT : Actually, having re-read your problem, this may not fix it - sorry.

Hd Tweak allows you to turn sms notification on.
Also make sure you have done
start--->settings--->phone---->services
then click on voice mail and text messages and then get settings.
Missing New Mail Missed Call Notification
I have the same problem phone does not display an new message or missed call icon in the upper tray. Seems to have happened after using HD Tweak and trying to hide the battery Icon, which is now in place of where the New Mail or Missed Call Notification Icon is normally displayed.
Anyone else expereincing this problem and any ideas for a solution?
Thanks.
Notification Problem Solved
Disconvered that I had an extra battery icon in upper tray from SPB plus. Removed thatand everything is now working fine.
My partner received his shiny new HTC Touch HD last week and after a few hours realised it was giving no notifications of text messages. Absolutely nothing as people have described here! It was new out the box and was making no noise, no notification on the Touch Flo, not even the standard Windows Mobile icon at the top. We tried every setting we could think of, and passed it to a friend whose had his HD for a couple of months now, who also couldn't find any good reason for its silence.
We gave in and hard reset the device (since it was only a couple of days old and he had yet to fill it with stuff!)
I'm glad to say, the hard reset solved all! No idea what the problem was, but it now gives all the correct notifications and obeys settings.
Just thought I'd share this in case others happen upon this problem since the thread gave us hope (in that others had the same problem) but no solution. I realise a hard reset isn't an elegant solution, but it did fix the problem
Fixed mine
Pauls suggestion for the diamond worked for me. My Touch HD running Energy ROM (WM6.5). I hadn't even noticed since my last ROM upgrade (i pressume) but my phone only alerted me to a new SMS when I had it switched on (not in stand-by). When I did notice I checked all the settings I could find for alerts and notifications, sms etc. The following registry tweeks fixed mine:

turn off screen after new sms

Hi,
It's possible, turn off screen when i got new sms? And turn off screen after missed call??
But, please tell me step by step, what can i do? I'm newbe windows mobile user, and never changed in registry.
P.S Xperiatweak doesn't work.
you want your device to turn off if you recieve a sms when you'r pda is on?
He wants to disable input / turn off the screen.
It is possible with XperiaTweak, I've done it myself.
So, when a new message arrives, the screen does not wake up.

SMS Vibrate with switched off screen

Hi -
Having a problem with SMS notification. Don't remember whether it started after I installed HD Tweak or before.
If I specify via HD tweak not to wake up a phone when SMS arrives - I receive no sound/vibrate notification on sms unless I switch on the screen.
If I specify to wake up a phone, then everything works fine - vibrate works, BUT the screen also switchs on and so I can make accidentally touches
So is it possible to have Vibrate, Sound and NO switching on the screen when I receive SMS on the HTC Diamond2?
Yeah, i never found a solution to this myself.
So i've installed Pocketshield (disabled everything but the slide-locking), and enabled the WakeUp in the registry.
This is the default behavior, at least on my device. When I first got the device it annoyed me that I had to turn on the device manually to read a message, so I changed the reg value that controls the screen on on new messages. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a similar fix (reg value) for incoming emails though.

PK

what reg tweak did you use?
or do you mean that you have enabled switching on the screen - in the same way as it is done via HD Tweak?

My device is stock and it has that behavior default! When I receive a SMS, a sound and vibration announce me, while the screen remains off!

to check “Vibrate” from Setting/Sounds&Notifications.
Then you can have " virbrate function " under suspend mode when SMS incoming~ have fun~
Hi
You should be able to fix these problems be increasing the "resuming from suspend timeout" values under Power using Advanced Config. By default it is one second which often isn't enough time for the phone to sound/vibrate when an SMS is received so try changing it to 10 or 15 seconds. When it is one second the phone goes back to sleep too quickly and sometimes the sound or vibration hasn't had to time be triggered.

Phil

Screen wont light up when sms received while on standby...

Ive used SSPL a few times to change the ROM of my Mini and now when I get a text message my screen doesnt light up while in standby. Is there any fix for this apart from hard reset or reusing SSPL to see if an error occurred?!
It used to light up before with previous installs.
Thanks for any reply.
Use Advanced Configuration Tools.
doesnt seem to work on my mini, installed it onto the storage card - cant see option to change notifications.....
thanks anyway
You must install it in internal memory.
The app contains tweaks.
I used the exe from the developers site - got the cab now.... shall see how it goes; thanks!
my mistake
Okay I couldnt find any option within Advanced Configuration for the screen lighting up when a text is received but there was a lot of options - so if someone can clarify its there I stand corrected!
I also installed BsB Tweaks and there is a SMS wake up option , I activated this and it does what I want!
Thanks again to fighter7139 for pushing me in the right direction - appreciated bro.
By the way, in ACT the option is:
Messaging--->Wake up on new sms.

Yeah I saw that on a site but it appears not listed on the v3.3 I installed!
ALSO just noticed that all I needed to do was...
Window Icon - Settings - Menu - Sounds & Notifications - Notifications - Message : New Message AND
tick Flash Light

Man, I feel dumb for not noticing that!
