Thank you everybody. I resolve my 1st problem. Yes, it is just USB connection and selecting 'Mobile Network Sharing'. My problem was because of not able to install the NDIS driver properly. After resolving the driver problem it is working fine.
But I am still looking for my 2nd problem RETHETING

I'm not sure if it will work that way... I know with a Windows Mobile device you can, but never tried under Android. Perhaps there is an option somewhere in the HTC Sync program?

There definitely isn't an option in HTC Sync to do this. In fact, I don't know of any way of generically sharing your internet connection over USB. If your work PC has a Wi-Fi card, you could easily share the internet connection over an ad-hoc network.
Edit: In principle, you could also share your internet connection over Bluetooth but I'm pretty sure the Tattoo doesn't support the necessary Bluetooth profile(s) for such connections.

I think Wi-fi ad-hoc connection is for rooted androids only and I don't found any rooted tattoo till date. I tried another option, using Connectify on my Windows 7 laptop and sharing Wi-fi. But still unable to success browsing, eventhough my phone can be connected with my Laptop through this connectify.
Anybody have success browsing it kindly share.

Uh, what? I'm sharing my internet connection over Wi-Fi with my MacBook right now and my Tattoo can connect to it and access the internet just fine.
Edit: You're probably thinking of android-wifi-tether, which lets you share your phone's 3G/2G mobile connection via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

If you are talking about tethering, it is OK, I am just satisfied with USB tethering, it is working now, but What I am actually looking for is about RETHETING just converse connection of that tethering. (I know there is no word like RETHETING BUT I don't know what is the right term of just converse connection of tethering.) The problem is, I want to share wired Internet at my working place with my HTC tattoo phone as I have limited GPRS subscription to save some money and to enjoy speed of that wired internet.
I thought running Connectify on my Windows 7 laptop connected to that wired Internet as a Wi-fi hotspot then connected by this android phone (Tattoo) is the right solution.
Yes, it is connected pinging is ok but could not access internet from my Tattoo. May be some firewall problem or something I cannot figure out. If some one have solution it is most welcome.

No, I was talking about "retheting"; my MacBook has a wired (ethernet) connection to the internet and is sharing it over Wi-Fi, which my Tattoo can connect to and use.
I did some reading up on Connectify (and was surprised to find that Micro$oft still hasn't quite implemented the feature natively on Windows yet) and it should work. I don't have a Wi-Fi card on my desktop PC so I can't test it myself but perhaps you are having something like a firewall problem.

I have tried with Connectify and also Virtual Router on my Windows 7 but could not success. I think you are lucky to own a macbook. My Windows 7 is RC so it might be because of that or Tattoo may lack something.
Regarding that android-wifi-tether, it reports as rootted device required and could not help my requirement.

I thought you were talking about an usb internet sharing connections...
If you want to do it via wifi, is pretty easy, since ALL windows have the ad-hoc functionality made by default. Problem is that if you use it with your wifi chipset then you won't be able to conect directly to other wifis if it is your main connect unless you buy another wifi card for this purpose...
in windows 7 you can find this functionality under the connection center... in windows xp is a little bit difficult because you have to configure the adapter into the wifi adapter properties in network connections tabs.

I also thought that it should be very easy, and tried all possible means that I know but could not success. One funny thing is, I can get IP address resolved of any URL on my tattoo after wifi connection. It means it can reach DNS server and can resolve IP address but still could not able to browsing. May be some firewall or Antivirus is blocking the browsing on my Windows 7 pc I need to check thoroughly.
If someone have good explanation, it will be very helpful... thanks.

Wifi is working
I was making my laptop complicated by setting 3 static IP networks..as my work place has 3 gateways and I manually change gw when required. I clean it up and set to only one. Now Internet through Wifi of Laptop is OK I am using Connectify on Windows7.
Thx for the patience.
But still waiting for solution on USB "Retheting"

Drop it. No way to do it. I've posted here just a few weeks ago, tried everything, with no luck. It simply isn't possible with the latest ActiveSync 4.1, and the older one 3.8 which has the wifi functionality, is not compatible with WM 5.0.
So forget about it. You can connect through wifi, but no synching...
Thank you very much but what is the benefith to connect through wifi?? i cant even send a file or connect to internet!!! At list give me a clue to conect Internet through WiFi & PC. but i think if we do the right Setting for IP in WiFi we would get connected some how....
Connecting through wifi gives you some good things... FOr one, I can stream all my mp3, and movie collection through wifi from PC to my prophet in real time... Yes, even movies work perfectly. So you don't have to keep your mem card full. And you can transfer files to/from PC with little problem.
To set it up, just set up a network on your pc, turn on wifi. Your prophet will discover it, and you can connect to it. Then you need a program like PocketLan, and you can set up a network folder in your prophet which lets you view all the folders you have placed on share on the PC. (so you have to place some folders on share).
I haven't tested sharing an internet connection, but it should not be a problem. I will test tomorrow or tuesday, and let you know.
Cheers.

Resco File Explorer will let you add "share drives" also. You can add directories or drives.
Upss...
It seems that sharing internet connection through wifi is NOT possible with WM5... They have just ruined everything with this stupid upgrade of activesync!
Anyone aware of a work arround so my PC internet connection works on my PPC connected to it with ad-hoc wifi?
as i said i think with IP configuration there might be a way to share it. or i think XDA fellow should program a Stack for this issue on activesyns4.x
Internet over Wi-Fi
you definitely need to do your research better
I have a wi-fi network at home and connect my Prophet to the internet without any problem, and so do thousands of other users.
If you have a wi-fi router, just set it to use the encryption supported by the Prophet. I found that using an authentication of "WPA-PSK" and encryption of TKIP works perfectly.
If you're setting up an ad-hoc network between a pc and the Prophet, you need to enable Internet Connection Sharing on the PC with the internet connection and voila'
You do not need activesync over wifi to use internet on the Prophet, just use it as a normal pc on wi-fi network. However what they have not been able to do till now is enable Activesync over Wi-fi for synchronisation.
Perhaps you are right Acer, since I was not able to fully test it with your specs.
I have a company cable network LAN, and a wireless adapter on the laptop which is free. But unfortunatelly, I was not able to set up internet sharing of the LAN, since it goes over a Network Bridge. Anyone now how this could be enabled?
THanks for the info Acer, its helpful...

yes i am using XP home Edition and my laptop is Averatec 3200 series
Just go to properties on your dial up internet sharing and set share this connection. i thinks thats about it. i've not use it for a long time, but if I remember correctly that's about it. you have to share it with your WI-FI adapter of course.
Some WI-Fi card can configure this automacticly. Like several I seen. You can set it as a router, and you're good to go.
BUMP @ acer175 ..where are you dude??!!!
Hi lover. Sorry, I thought Munyuk81's response was enough.
Anyway, on Windows XP, open Network Connections, right-click on your dial-up/ADSL connection, selet Properties.
Open the Advanced tab, you should have an Internet Connection SHaring section. Enable "Allow other users to connect etc, etc...". Select the wireless network adapter if given the option. Click YES if asked to change the IP.
Next create a wi-fi network using the XP utlities or your card's utilities. Don't touch the IP address of the wi-fi card.
Next on your Prophet, enable Wi-Fi and it should discover the network by itself. If you set a key in the step above, it will ask you to enter it.
@acer175
Do you know how i can share my Lan internet which goes over a Network Bridge? WHen I removed the Lan from the Network Bridge, I could see the options for ICS, but there was no internet to share, as the connection was lost. Adding it back to the network bridge restores the internet connection, but removes the option for sharing it with the other (wifi) card...
Anyone?
i haven't tried it myself, but thinking logically, when you add a connection to a bridge, it loses its individual attributes. You have to check the properties of the bridge, and check if there are ICS options there, however I do not think that XP allows that, but you can try.
ALso see if this may be helpful:

Polaris as WLAN Stick

HTC Polaris has included WLAN, so my Question can the Device can be used as a WLAN USB Stick, to connect the PC with the Internet (Router or Modem Connection).
My PC is far away from the Router so i dont want LAN Cable at all. Is WLAN possible via Mobile
Hmm... In theory it should work over ActiveSync/Windows Mmbile Device Center since WLAN is one adapter and AS/WMDC is another adapter.
But you'd need some kind of router software for polaris to route requests from AS/WMDC-Adapter over WLAN-Adapter to your internet modem or router.
Don't know if such software exists. I'm afraid you have to google for it by yourself.
WMWifiRouter
I have been testing WMWifiRouter and its great, the latest version 1.11 seems quite stable and I get a good connection speed considering its a mobile. Just make sure you are on an unlimited data plan otherwise you will soon clock up a nasty bill ;o)
Maybe it isn't so, but my understanding of the original question is that he wants to use the Cruise as a simple USB WiFi network card, while getting an internet access using an existing WiFi network. WMWifiRouter seems irrelevant for this task, and even if it can do it, you can probably get a WiFi card (either USB or PCI) for WMWifiRouter's price.
Bottom line - i don't know if this is possible, but even if it is, WiFi cards are too cheap today to make it attractive.
With the original rom it's possible to share web connection to a pc. So it seems really easy and possible to do it. Just connect your polaris to the web using wifi and then share the connection with a usb cable. That's all.

Wireless Adapter

Hi,
Was just wondering if the polaris can be used as a WIFI adapter for PC?
i.e. using the wifi capabilities of the phone to connect to internet on the pc.
Thanks
hi I think what you are looking for is wmwifirouter - google that and will bring you to there homepage. Not only does that but can do other sort of tethering as well eg - 3g to bluetooth, 3g to pc, wifi to pc, and others.
Hmm, so with this program, basically I can connect via the following illustration?
wifi router ----wireless---> polaris ----USB---> PC?
The site you sent to me sounds moe like making the smartphone into a router.. Though, i may be wrong..
Thanks though!
hi yes it does both though i believe to do what you are asking the computer has to have internet sharing enabled someone correct me if i"m wrong, but I have done this myself when i was playing with this program and had it working although i have only done this once as i use the program to make the polaris a wifi router.

HD2 WLAN connection for Desk over ActiveSync

I'm searching like crazy but can't find a thing.
When I connect my HD2, I get to choose 3 modes. The last is to give free my internet connection the the connected PC. But then I can just choose my 3G connection and not the WLAN.
Is there a way to add WLAN as well? It means I would use my HD2 as a WLAN stick.
thx tomylee
go to startmenu->tools->wifi router
thx, but there i can choose only from cell connection or COM1
Am I right in thinking that you want to connect your phone to a Wireless network, and then use it as a modem for your PC?
If I am then I'm sorry, but this can't (currently) be done.
Best option? Get a Wifi dongle off eBay. They're dirt cheap - I saw one for less than £5!!
OK THX
strange that they block this
This is possible if you use WMWifirouer. http://global.wmwifirouter.com/features/

You cannot use your phone as a wireless adapter (connect it to your PC and pick up a wireless signal)
You can connect your phone to your PC and use the 3G on your phone for a PC Internet connection (i use this on my laptop sometimes when i need proper access to Outlook)(this is 1 reason i don't have an iPhone)
You can set up your phone as a router (other PC/devices find it and use the phones 3G connection)
You can connect your phone to the PC, and get the phone to use your DSL (broadband) connection by default and NOT your phones 3G.

If you mean tethering your HD2 to your PC and allowing your PC to connection to the internet via your phones internet then just go to the Andriod Market and do a serch for tether apps or internet sharing apps. If your PC has WiFi capabilities just use a hotspot app.
If you mean share your computers internet connection with your HD2, I really don't know it that is possible. But to do it you would have to go into your connections settings on your PC and he k allow other computers and devices to connect to the internet through this computer. It might be in networking. But what is easieast is just vet a WiFi router and use the WiFi apartheid ilities to connect.

Sorry about the spelling I was sleepy when I typed that. The easy way is to get a WiFi router to hook up to your home internet connection and set up a WiFi network at your home. Then you can use your HD2'S WiFi capabilities to connect to your WiFi network while at home. It is really nice because you do not have to be tethered to a computer or a hub with a USB cable. Now to be honest I really don't know if you can share your computers internet connection with your HD2 via your USB cable. If it is possible you will have to check allow other computers and devices to connect to the internet through this computer. This should be in networks you might have to try to set up a home network on your computer to allow your HD2 to connect to the internet via your USB cable. Hope this helps.
